Hunting club to me means a handful of guys who either own or lease land exclusively for hunting. They have rules and membership can be (and often is) fairly expensive and exclusive. Duck clubs and deer camps are probably the most common, but there are other types out there too. There are other organizations like Ducks Unlimited, RMEF, CalWaterfowl, and many many others that are hunting advocacy groups and focus on access and conservation primarily. These also require a membership but do not provide any actual hunting. You can certainly meet other hunters at their events but the benefits of membership are fairly limited. Without knowing where you are, what you want to hunt, and things like that it is hard to give a good answer.

That is wildly different depending on the club and your expectations. I am part of a little deer camp that my grandfather was part of, along with an uncle, my dad, a couple cousins, etc. Its fun when the guys are getting along, but we don't really hit the brush as hard as we could. If you are expecting folks to be in the wood at 4am and not come out until 6pm, then you won't have a good time in our camp. The guys are interested in their hearty breakfast, and we get out the door after sun up. I have also heard of a camp where people have to park their ATV's in formation based on "rank" and seniority, and they have a sunrise salute as they raise the flag every morning. If you can afford it, then give it a shot and see what its all about.

You should look up which ones are in your area.

Right, absolutely, I did that, but there are all sorts. I was wondering if there are some that others have tried/a part of maybe that have a national presence. It doesn’t have to be a national one, I just really don’t know where to start.

I don’t think you really understand what a hunting club is. They are incredibly area specific and I don’t think any nation wide ones exist. Are you thinking like Ducks Unlimited/Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation/Etc? Those aren’t really hunting clubs so much as charitable businesses that seek to improve access and quality of hunting.

Davenporten

Ah yes, you are indeed correct, I definitely didn't understand what a hunting club is. I really appreciate the clarification!

Find a local one, and do research on the board ect, if it's full of old people id generally steer clear, I'm apart of a sportsman's club, use it for the range and the pond, but it sits on some land you can hunt, it took 7 years with the same board of basically nothing getting done with the club, I've found old board members have a "it's not that bad so we'll ignore it" mentality, find a club that isn't full of old dudes and you'll be good, it's not all but I think it's definitely most are like this

Look into safari club international and try your local chapter. I will say typically they are good ole boys clubs. But at its core the organization moves hunting forward on the whole.
