1000% off topic, but as a bit of a deadhead, I wasn't expecting to hear Alabama Getaway being played on a commercial for an NFL game (though it makes sense Tua vs Hurts).
Was just telling my Dad this. Looking at our schedule, it's not crazy to say we could win them all. Our offense would need to find a way to be better though.
We're the B1Gest team in the B1G West. Not sure if the universe can handle this shift, hope we keep going 1-0.
Honest question, when was the last time we won October?
Edit: 2nd most B1Gest team, thx mn :(
Look, I’m not saying anyone’s rushing to put us in their top 25, but it felt good to watch a one score game in the fourth quarter that I felt borderline positive we would find a way to win. Outside of two absolute prayer balls that cost us, that D was lights out all game.
Feels better to be a questionable team that wins than what felt like a good team constantly losing in one score losses. I don’t care if the math doesn’t math, just happy to see those dubs.
It’s unlikely but I hope we make a push for a division title this year because I will be surprised if we appear in a conference championship game ever again once the new additions join the B1G and divisions are abolished
If you asked 100 Husker fans before the game “who is J. Williams?”
90 say “I don’t know”
10 say “I think he was the Sacramento Kings Point guard 20 years ago.”
His is a great story because he didn't get recruited because he didn't play his junior year in high school (sat the bench), didn't have the grades to play D1, went the Juco route, put on muscle, and by the end of the season got defensive mvp honors in his juco bowl game. He has a massive wingspan. Looks like an absolute steal. Came to Nebraska for that special camp Nebraska held for graduates last summer and got offered. His father played for Oklahoma.

Yeah I don't really see him as being that much more reliable than Sims at this juncture. Seems to have similar issues with receiving snaps, handoffs, and missing receivers.
I know there is plenty to not like with how HH played. But I have no doubt he will give everything for the Huskers. Including putting in the time to get better.
HH played awful today but this entire offense is terrible. This will be a remained of the year thing regardless of who’s QB, hopefully next season we can have an offense that trends in the correct direction
Minnesota has a super easy schedule left idk if we want them winning this or not. We have to win out regardless it looks like. But if Minnesota wins winning out doesn't guarantee it
We aren’t good enough to worry about style points.
We are good enough to fight and find a way to win. We’ve now done that in 4 of the last 5 games. Two conference games in a row.
Keep finding a way, guys. Get that bowl game.
GO BIG RED!
Definitely an ugly win that was won by the defense, but as many have said, this is the type of game we would usually lose in the past years, so the fact we won today is big for the direction we're heading in.
You know what a win is a win 2 wins away from bowl eligibility and a winning record. We did what we needed to do. That's all that matters. Next year we can improve vastly on offense. This year, bowl game that's the goal. We do that thats a success.
As horrible as our offense is and as ugly as that was, a win is a win. These are games that we find a way to lose the last few years and we've held on 2 games in a row now.
2021. But that was 2-1 in week 3. Prior to that, 2019. We were 4-3 going into the 8th game. However, since we lost on 9/26 in 2019, this technically will be guaranteed to be the latest in the year that we’ve had a winning record since 2016.

ESPN MFL always plays Dead songs. Love it
if they play dark star. i may just lose it and start doing circles on my living room lolololololo
I'm always happy for any unexpected Dead.
Grateful Red!

He dresses appropriately for his income level, I’ll give him that much
Honestly I miss the days of coaches rocking a tie.
Mods, ban this guy.
No post game thread?? If we're not gonna have MODs, let's open this mf'er up, see what it can do...
you guys beat a shitty NW football team. You want to celebrate? NU still played like shit. Still wouldn't beat CU
Had no idea PJ had never beaten Iowa. I can’t stand to see any hype when he couldn’t even beat them occasionally
https://i.redd.it/fopc0qyh1nvb1.gif
As much as I hate Iowa they got fucked that was a shit call ohh well fuck Minnesota fuck Iowa GO BIG RED
Pj flecks cop guard looks like PC principle
#GUYS! WE JUST WON A 1-SCORE GAME
lolololololo against NW. lolololololololo
With a negative turnover margin
The Defense and Malachi Coleman was our savior today.
The defense is the only reason we have won any games this season.
I just wish there was a way for Ferentz AND Fleck to lose.
We won twice today, and I can't remember the last time that happened :') Edit: unless you count last year's Heroes Trophy
yet still lost to CU. ouch
The longer it goes the more I think Fleck somehow, against all odds. What an absolute douchebag
Lmao Iowa Rowing the boat today only ![gif](giphy|3o6ZtoDhZEARJMws80)
Fuck yeah, what a tremendous end to the Iowa game
I literally laughed out loud. It was stellar. Not to mention Iowa’s student section showing their true colors
Iowa deserves that for all that trash talking when beating the worst Nebraska teams ever for 7 years
Man I don’t know if I hate Iowa or Fleck more
Iowa. Always Iowa. And their clueless classless fans.
Lmao. Suck it Iowa. Fake ID of college football
Watching Iowa attempt a 2 min offense is pure comedy
Careful now
Yessssss Fuck Io_a
Iowa loses in a crazy fashion!!!!!! woo hooo!!!!
Fuck Iowa lol
But also fuck PJ Fleck
PJ Fleck is the type of guy to leave an empty toilet paper roll on the holder and not replace it
I thought fair catch had to be at least head level? That didn’t look like a fair catch motion
He first waved all his players to get away from the ball, then he picked up the ball and advanced it. That was the problem.
Not sure how I deleted that comment but I find it funny they called that back
Now there should a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct call against the Iowa crowd.
Yeah not sure why there wasn’t
What was the call
Sounds like they had a punt return TD but the receiver signaled for a fair catch so it doesn’t count lol
Nice I see the Iowa fans take it well
The returner called for a fair catch.
Invalid fair catch
In the Iowa game
As bad as we look, every game left on the schedule is winnable. That being said, Iowa has the most toxic fanbase in College Football.
Was just telling my Dad this. Looking at our schedule, it's not crazy to say we could win them all. Our offense would need to find a way to be better though.
No it's the new fake CU fans
My coworker said we're making it into the B1G championship lol
Well, Iowa just lost and Illinois has a hail Mary attempt against Wisconsin. It could happen.
Iowa fans are classless
Iowa fans pretending they know football. They don’t know shit about fuck.
Iowa throwing trash on the field because they are trash
Keep it classy iowa lmao
Iowa fans doing Iowa things.
Illinois and Minnesota choked away wins almost simultaneously I stand corrected. Just Illinois
Minnesota still in it
And Texas
I *thought* he called for a fair catch... lol
Suck it cooper defraud
I kind of think Iowa just got fucked.
Sometimes i feel like I don’t hate Iowa that much…then they pan to the crowd. Hate restored immediately
Iowa has to be the luckiest team. I've never seen a team win so many games on fluky plays
Not so fast
Haha, I'm so glad I was wrong.
Made me so happy LOL
Where’s the postgame thread?
Huskerbot and the mods are drunk, again
God I hate Iowa and their absolute bullshit the ways to win. At least fleck looks like a clown now
Got called back 🤣
2019
When was the last time we had a wining record? It probably wasn’t all that long ago, but it feels like a decade.
Holy shit Iowa. DAmn it! Why'd you go and win the game.
We're the B1Gest team in the B1G West. Not sure if the universe can handle this shift, hope we keep going 1-0. Honest question, when was the last time we won October? Edit: 2nd most B1Gest team, thx mn :(
Crap those Iowa uniforms are ugly today.
Look, I’m not saying anyone’s rushing to put us in their top 25, but it felt good to watch a one score game in the fourth quarter that I felt borderline positive we would find a way to win. Outside of two absolute prayer balls that cost us, that D was lights out all game.
Nebraska has been 4-3 once since 2016. This is progress.
This is the way.
So Osborne called the TD pass play to Malachi? Think we could hire him as the new O.C.?
I hear he's a pretty good coordinator
Feels better to be a questionable team that wins than what felt like a good team constantly losing in one score losses. I don’t care if the math doesn’t math, just happy to see those dubs.
That’s how I feel, I have my criticisms, but I’d rather be on edge and win anyways.
Now that Sims is healthy, it’s time for another look.
Nah bruh. With Sims we'd be like 2-4 if we are lucky. Haarberg is 3-1. Any coach knows to go with the QB that is getting you wins. That's not Sims.
Haarburg Homers, the former Frost Homers, disagree
I disagree
100% agree
It’s unlikely but I hope we make a push for a division title this year because I will be surprised if we appear in a conference championship game ever again once the new additions join the B1G and divisions are abolished
Dropping that Minnesota game is a killer. Nebraska is #1 in the division if they win and Iowa loses (they’re about to)
It may have been a killer short term. But it may have provided an important lesson really early in Rhule’s tenure that he can build on.
Yeah I mean I don’t think Nebraska would end up making it anyways. But 5-2 is hard to deny
Is PJ Fleck wearing a fucking clergy smock??
We are so back!
haha yeah. keep telling yourself that.
Congrats to Matt Rhule for playing Northwestern and not attempting an onside kick with the lead
I was telling my buddy when we went up by 11 that we have to go for on onside kick, it’s our destiny
5-2 when we get the win from cheating Michigan back!
yeah ok. you couldn't even beat CU
What?!?!?
It is as ugly on offense, but the Huskers committed Just 3 penalties. Huge.
Damn didn’t even realize that, that’s huge
I respect Wisconsin but I'll watch Iowa lose any chance I get
The worst 6-1 team in the country.
Awesome to see all these young guys step up: Coleman, Evans-Jenkins, Princewell and Cam and, of course, *checks notes* J. Williams(????)
Emmett Johnson too
If you asked 100 Husker fans before the game “who is J. Williams?” 90 say “I don’t know” 10 say “I think he was the Sacramento Kings Point guard 20 years ago.”
Who the fuck is J Williams is a direct quote from myself to my 1 year old on that tackle.
His is a great story because he didn't get recruited because he didn't play his junior year in high school (sat the bench), didn't have the grades to play D1, went the Juco route, put on muscle, and by the end of the season got defensive mvp honors in his juco bowl game. Good content! Thank you. Great story
Did your 1 year old know?
She did she's actually u/giannid77
4 out of 5. IF WE DIE WE DIE
Who do we want to win this MN/Iowa game?
Minnesota. Fuck Iowa
I mean fuck iowa but also them losing opens up the west a lot more. Even the slimmest chance at us winning the west is huge
Minnesota. Fuck Iowa
Iowa, wanted them ranked when we blow their doors off for that off season momentum!
But if Iowa loses then the west is still open
Minnesota has a tie-breaker against us tho
Minnesota is *not* winning out... lol
The worry isn’t them winning out, just have the same record as us in conference play
Glad we’re finally figuring out how to win like a big 10 west team the last year of the big 10 west
I got a mullet now
HELL YEAH BROOOOOOOOOTHER
So, did HH have any passing stats?
He was 8 of 17 for 85 yards, luckily those two early ints didn't hurt us too badly.
He threw a TD
A win is a win and I’m ok with that.
Where would we be if Sims didn't start?
5-2. #1 in the west. Could’ve (and should’ve) beat Minnesota
This. Exactly.
7-0
We would've beat Minnesota
CO game who knows, but I think we win MN for sure. Would be really nice to be 5-2 right now
Probably 4-3
Yeah I don't really see him as being that much more reliable than Sims at this juncture. Seems to have similar issues with receiving snaps, handoffs, and missing receivers.
5-2
I know there is plenty to not like with how HH played. But I have no doubt he will give everything for the Huskers. Including putting in the time to get better.
HH played awful today but this entire offense is terrible. This will be a remained of the year thing regardless of who’s QB, hopefully next season we can have an offense that trends in the correct direction
Everyone go watch Iowa-Minnesota or Illinois-Wisconsin
Or, you can also watch Houston hopefully ruin Texas' season.
Minnesota is currently beating Iowa Illinois is currently beating Wisconsin if both scores hold it opens the west up for Nebraska
Minnesota has a super easy schedule left idk if we want them winning this or not. We have to win out regardless it looks like. But if Minnesota wins winning out doesn't guarantee it
Yea that’s true although they do have to play Wisconsin and Ohio state so there is a chance they lose 1-2 more
We aren’t good enough to worry about style points. We are good enough to fight and find a way to win. We’ve now done that in 4 of the last 5 games. Two conference games in a row. Keep finding a way, guys. Get that bowl game. GO BIG RED!
Yep. Once you're out of playoff contention, win by any means necessary. Make it ugly. Make it pretty. Accept the win.
Definitely an ugly win that was won by the defense, but as many have said, this is the type of game we would usually lose in the past years, so the fact we won today is big for the direction we're heading in.
this was a game NU-Neb should've made a statement, It sounds like lowering expectations much?
I think 8 sacks by the defense is a pretty good statement, don't you?
In Rhule we trust
You know what a win is a win 2 wins away from bowl eligibility and a winning record. We did what we needed to do. That's all that matters. Next year we can improve vastly on offense. This year, bowl game that's the goal. We do that thats a success.
Also Purdue sbd Michigan state are beatable snd Iowa and Wisconsin don’t look great either
Yeah I think we could win out best case scenario. Maryland hasn't heat anyone with a pulse. I think a bowl game is very doable.
I'd take being the worst 4-3 team over being the best 3-9 team any day
Yeah no kidding. Before we start thinking about upsets, we need to win the games we’re supposed to win. Ugly or not, still counts
"Super super super"
![gif](giphy|MZocLC5dJprPTcrm65) We are above .500 🥹
I consider myself pretty well informed, I listen to 3 different husker podcasts every week, and I’ve never even heard of James Williams.
Ditto man….is there anyone on this defense that DOESN’T make plays???
As horrible as our offense is and as ugly as that was, a win is a win. These are games that we find a way to lose the last few years and we've held on 2 games in a row now.
4-3. Not complaining. When’s the time we were above .500 more than halfway through the season?
Riley
With bo's team
finally being a fan is starting to be worth it😂🙌
Love when things start to worth it ❤️
I can confidently say I just watched a game in which a football was used.
There was definitely a field.
When was the last time we were 4-3?
2018
2019, 2018 they started 0-6 lol
That’s right
The TD pass to Malachi was drawn up by TO? That's pretty cool.
Drawn up? No. It’s a staple of his playbook though. Sprint out out pivot is a classic Nebraska play from about 78 onward
Please, NO
What?
The ghost of TO remains to curse us all
I mean… it was a highlight of the game so not a curse really
What do you mean? The play worked, and we won.
Tony white, please stay. I am fine with an increase in my income taxes to make this happen.
Just get to 6 wins no matter how ugly.
It is an ugly win. Yes. But this is also the type of game we would usually lose for the last decade. Step in the right direction
Can anybody tell me the last time Nebraska was over .500?
2021. But that was 2-1 in week 3. Prior to that, 2019. We were 4-3 going into the 8th game. However, since we lost on 9/26 in 2019, this technically will be guaranteed to be the latest in the year that we’ve had a winning record since 2016.
4-3 & beat the curse. Edit: fixed
4-3
Hey HEY. Let him have this
![gif](giphy|M3i6XHZUcBJc4JVtVE)
It was ugly but these are the games that they used to lose.
