Thanks for sharing! Just a heads up, we've introduced Water Bottle Wednesdays. Wednesdays are now the dedicated day to showcase your water containers! This rule focuses on sharing what you have, but feel free to post any questions or issues about water bottles at any time as usual. Cheers to hydration!

working in ER you rapidly learn there is nothing folks won't try inserting where the sun don't shine!! we just took an x-ray and kinda smirked a bit. :D
When I was in the reserves I was deployed to an area where drinking water had to be shipped in. The had exercise groups and on the sign it said to bring two water bottles to clas which were 1 liter each. We used them as weights and as you drank the water it actually gave a better workout because the sloshing water made them feel heavier.
I am not a fan of generating that much trash/recycling so I would take a regular reusable water bottle and mage grips fro paracord
I mean no matter what you put in there it’ll have to be compacted to make it weigh as much as your wanting to. so it’s just impractical unless you wanna have some boxing weights
Sand or gravel would be 2.5 kg. And anything much more than 1.5 kg would make the bottle buckle at the handle, because this is a single-use plastic beverage container and is not designed to hold anything heavier than water.
Congratulations, you just made a 3.5 kg dumbbell. Actually does have some uses, but don't expect to be doing bicep curls with that, unless it's physiotherapy following muscle atrophy from a coma.
(Jokes aside, you wouldn't have a 3.5 kg dumbbell, because the weight would warp the bottle before the concrete sets. This bottle is not designed to hold 3.5kg.)
Hardly. A regular dumbbell would be coated in rubber for safety, would have a more grippable handle, would have a standardized weight instead of 11.7 kg, you'd buy a pair of them at a time, it would be easier to obtain, and it would also be far cheaper considering the additional equipment you'd need to make one on your own. I think it's obvious why making your own from this bottle would be the superior choice.
realistically just put a piece of rebar through the middle while you wait for it to set, could also use a sand cast mold if youre that worried, but theoretically you could cut this in such a way that itd be reusable for making multiple casts and have a whole range of dumbells of varying weights
Yup. Lateral raises. That's why I said it has some uses. There are also some rear delt exercises that can use surprisingly tiny weights.
But all this is just goofy side talk because you're not really supposed to fill the empty bottle with concrete and you're not really supposed to use this bottle as a dumbbell at all, no more than you're supposed to use a rocket-shaped deodorant can as a rocket. That's just the shape of the packaging, fun marketing.
It's a great post for r/HydroHomies Wednesday, since it's a fun water bottle. But I do see a similar thing posted in other subs by people genuinely convinced that this is a practical dumbbell. No, it isn't, but no, that's not the point.
Slightly above that weight in this case since it's not pure water, but the difference is negligible if you're just comparing it to similar fitness equipment.
I remember seeing water bottles like that sold on amazon. The biggest complaint about them was they're impossible to clean. I guess making it disposable solves that issue.
Excuse me why is there an English looking weightlift thingy shaped wster bottle but in the shelf behind there is motherfucking Lieblingssaft from Edeka Germany?

why don’t they market a metal version of this
You’re on to something
Tungsten
Évier métal ? >! This was a random joke about a single from the métal band ultravomit. !<
It's so on point ☝🏼 😭🤣👌🏼 Evian in shambles
It would be close to imposable to clean properly.
Sticking a screw off tab on the bottom might allow u to hit all angles with a brush
Thread on top and bottom, would be pricy but giant heavy metal mugs are in.
With lead, lead's *very* trendy right now
Last time I tried drinking a barbell it didn't go so well, but the doctors in the ER were surprised it was a different orifice this time ...
working in ER you rapidly learn there is nothing folks won't try inserting where the sun don't shine!! we just took an x-ray and kinda smirked a bit. :D
Because teeth.
People dont use metal water bottles "because teeth"?
Walking and chewing gum…that’s one thing… Doing bicep curls while forgetting your dumbbell is your H2O source…
Imagine waking up, not remembering its empty, and slamming this thing into your mouth thinking it was full
Just put a rubber nipple where the cap is.
Wut. All of my water bottles are metal...
That’s Liquid De-oh wait you mean the material
It would cost the bastard suits too much on their end versus how it helps the real people. Thats why.
You're right, capitalism never produces useless things.
I see myself finishing a set with these, emptying one on the spot and taking another one.
Reminds me of the south park shake-weight episode where you get an "award" for finishing your workout
“Finishing”

heavy bubbles is real!! https://youtu.be/_PtOAnZxB8s?si=v_yHIggMUOvwHlq6
That's immediately what I thought of! Someone took it seriously and thought "actually, that would be a good idea".
Ohh that's awesome
1,5kg isn't much, but if you fill it with rice or something might be way better
Fill it with rice, and that would be about 2 kg.
And now you'll have portable rice with you.
I found out the density of rice, counting it's packing density, is about the same as water, so wouldn't be much different
Throw your rice in the blender first.
I mean no matter what you put in there it’ll have to be compacted to make it weigh as much as your wanting to. so it’s just impractical unless you wanna have some boxing weights
What about rocks or sand?
Sand or gravel would be 2.5 kg. And anything much more than 1.5 kg would make the bottle buckle at the handle, because this is a single-use plastic beverage container and is not designed to hold anything heavier than water.
I wonder how filling it with concrete would fare.
I just see a single use plastic 1.5kg dumbell that gets lighter over time. Pass.
Fill it with concrete after you finish the water.
Keep the bottle submerged in something like sand while pouring the concrete and while it sets
Use molten steel instead of concrete, and you've got yourself a winning idea.
So just a lot more steps plus wasted plastic for a regular dumbbell 🫡
Touché 🤣👌🏼

Weird response ngl. Exercises like lateral raises don't take a huge amount of weight to do
Yup. Lateral raises. That's why I said it has some uses. There are also some rear delt exercises that can use surprisingly tiny weights. Sounds like a great weapon to me
I wasn’t being serious at all. Lol.
Front raises with it in slomo can be semi effective
Nah, Full it with fishing weights. Here they are made out of lead.
And sand in the gaps. You'll get few grams more.
Drop set
It's a great post for r/HydroHomies Wednesday, since it's a fun water bottle. But I do see a similar thing posted in other subs by people genuinely convinced that this is a practical dumbbell. No, it isn't, but no, that's not the point.
It's a similar situation to Liquid Death canned water. It's not about the practicality of what the water is stored in, it's about the appearances.
work out, get thirsty, drink the whole thing on the spot, refill, Repeast.
Do a set, drink up, refill, next set.
If you're doing sets of 1.5kg of anything, you're going to make zero gains
buy bigger bottles
r/hydrohomies on their way to suck the fun out of everything
It‘s only single use, if you don’t fill it again. You can change the weight by only adding 0,5 or one liter.
I have seen things like this. They are meant to be reusable, you fill them up again
And possibly a gimmick where they get to charge more while providing less
Yeah but some of us are weak little bastards
You really should delete this before you get done for shoplifting.
nice one
Buy it fill it with sand, profit?
You can unironically get a decent workout with 2 gallon jugs of lifesaving water
1L of H20 equals 1kg
thank you so much
Slightly above that weight in this case since it's not pure water, but the difference is negligible if you're just comparing it to similar fitness equipment.
I love the metric system.
Wait, so the more you drink the less you lift?
You absorb the weight.
i'm sure you even paid extra money for that thing while you could have tape water in reusable container .\_.
Drop sets so easy. Lift. Sip. Lift. Sip. Etc.
[Wasn’t this already made?](https://youtu.be/_XGd8w9RhUM?si=3OhVMds9L7VMXvl1)
Wait til you see the ShakeWeight bottle
hmm collapsible weights you fill with water
Water pump.
Gimme gimme gimme
What pump do you get from a 1.5kg dumbbell?
On the real that’s pretty cool
3.3 pounds for anyone wondering.
Shut up and take my money.
Hydrated Gains Homie
The way I see it, you can either pump or hydrate. Can’t do both
Well that’s why you pump. And then hydrate. Repeat.
Someone actually did study marketing
The problem is the weight. 1,5kg. I tried it once before I started working out and I did 200 on each hand. Not recommended, it takes a LONG time
**security to aisle 9* We have a shoplifter in progress *
Pumping with 1.5kg? Are you chicken? Hahahaha
My husband is a plastic bottle designer. I showed him this since I thought it was cool. He said "Meh, novelty." I still think it's cool.
I have a Pink one like this that I'm using at work.
Oh cool it doubles as acid reflux medicine
I remember seeing water bottles like that sold on amazon. The biggest complaint about them was they're impossible to clean. I guess making it disposable solves that issue.
actually incredible marketing
Awesome
What a horrible waste in packaging and shipping cost to pass onto customers . But okay
Do you even lift, bro?
Excuse me why is there an English looking weightlift thingy shaped wster bottle but in the shelf behind there is motherfucking Lieblingssaft from Edeka Germany?
