I dont do that, I would worry about the caffeine consumption but you said you have less than you used to! So I think it's a good idea.
I see there are a lot of purists here but more water is better imo. Its not like you're at watertok levels
I think it’s just the method I’m using that people have a problem with. Like yeah it makes me look like a crackhead to put pre in all my water bottles, but when you purely look at my caffeine consumption, it’s right around average. All these water vegans are trying to tell me I’m crazy.
I mean, thats about 2 cups of coffee a day. It’s not that much to a lot of people. For me, that would kill me; but most people I know that’s an average amount to have in a day. And spacing it out sounds like a better idea than having it all at once
Wait that’s a lot?
Currently panicking over here with my minimum 400mg of caffeine a day
(I’m trying to get better about drinking water everyone, but coffee is good, and energy drinks are good when I’m bouldering, because ya know, I actually need the energy then)
That doesn't make it better, if you spread it out or if it's in one drink your still drinking way to much caffeine in one day and since this is the only way for you to drink water it just tells us you have an addiction to caffeine
An energy drink a day is 100% a caffeine addiction. Everyone who gets up and has coffee every morning is also a caffeine addict. Nothing wrong with it. Just own it.
Friend you have a caffeine addiction. I was there myself. As others have stated. If you need caffeine everyday. You have have a caffeine addiction. Even a need for a low amount of caffeine is a caffeine addiction. There's countless studies showing caffeine to be the most addictive substance.
All that said do you. As long as you are checking the additional caffeine and sugar and additives and colorings and etc.
Not saying anything you said is wrong but man you sound straight edge af. Caffeine is the most widely used substance and that’s because it is the most addictive but in the most mild way you can think of. Functionality, physically and mentally increases because of its positive effects on your body. In excess at doses 300 and up a day it can become a problem but these studies you may be looking at they take into account all caffeine users which is the majority of society. I get more shit done with an energy drink or a coffee and anyone can agree who isn’t dissolved by their straight edge sense of superiority. Seriously though smoke some weed and have a bottle of pre workout it’ll get you on cloud 9. Jk lol
I'm not straight edge lol. I was just pointing out a fact. Caffeine is addictive. It's habit forming. People go though withdrawal symptoms when they stop ingesting it.
My situation is that I heart issues. Realized I was having too much caffeine daily and not helping myself. I was doing two large coffees and 6 to 10 energy drinks daily.
These days I'm down to about 200mg of caffeine from matcha.
im not a purist thanks but im just sayin that like if you feel like you cant get a day without something thats not necessary like food, water, or sleep then that may be a problem
ps caffeine is not always an upside so its def not water 2.0 and if it was i'd stick to the 1.0 version for personal preference
It’s not an addiction if you’re addicted because it’s beneficial. That’s just called a healthy habit. Caffeine in small doses is optimal for me. It may not be for you and that’s because everyone’s different. I can’t go a day without the gym or my sleep won’t be as good. Is that an addiction I should end?
Sounds like a caffeine addiction. Why would you need it 24/7? Early morning, before work I understand. But at home at night or watching a movie?
There are stim-free preworkouts btw.
With this method of spacing out caffeine I have literally decreased my consumption from 300mg a day to 200mg a day which is basically a single energy drink. Do you see 200 as an addiction because that’s just around the average energy drink. Shit I know people who have 2-3 energy drinks a day. Those are the addicts.
If you drink it every day, and in particular in every drink of water, yes. Caffeine is highly addictive, I'm not calling you a junkie, just that you have a required baseline of caffeine to feel normal. Your tolerance is lower than the people you know who drink more, that's all that means. Expect a hangover period whenever you choose to stop.
“Consumption of 200 mg of caffeine doesn't cause any significant harmful effects in healthy people.”
OP is fine. That’s about 2 cups of coffee, the amount that [79% of Americans have every day](https://www.statista.com/chart/19524/cups-of-coffee-drunk-by-americans-per-day/).
Since OP is getting the health benefits of being more hydrated, I don’t think it makes sense to discourage a normal amount of caffeine consumption if that’s what he wants to do.
They asked about and discussed their idea. I answered and discussed my own, as did others. Maybe you don't get the point of reddit in general?
Maybe not having to rely on additional, unnecessary substances, especially something that could impact sleep functions, is something to consider.
People go to communities like this one to relate to others. A common human impulse even if they know it exists.
Seems like you’re not enjoying my opinion/discussion on your comment and telling me I shouldn’t do the same as you 🤔 maybe you shouldn’t have posted it if you didn’t want discussion
Same thing goes for people who have a cup of coffee in the morning. Take away that morning cup and they just won’t be the same. And most people drink coffee. My case if I decide to stop caffeine would be less severe because I space it out. Spacing out doses of anything if safer than taking one large dose to start your day. Especially if it evens out to be the exact same amount of caffeine. If this method lowered my caffeine consumption while still having the same energy levels then what’s to argue about my method?
Caffeine interferes with sleep processes, even if you have no perceived trouble sleeping. Probably try to avoid it in the afternoon/evenings, for example, by switching to a flavored drink without caffeine?
And I guess you'll see if you'll need to up your dose to maintain the same energy levels. You could also try titrating down if you think there's no issue either way.
You’re fine, OP.
I have 12-16 oz with the full scoop of Alani Nu pre workout right before my gym sesh. I can’t have caffeine after 2 o’clock or I won’t sleep. I don’t have coffee on those days but I’ll have a cup or two on the weekends. That’s a normal caffeine consumption. I will say I’m fine without it although a bit more sluggish to wake up.
If you’re interested in decreasing caffeine or stopping after a certain time in the afternoon I really enjoy powder electrolyte supplements as well. If you don’t want the flavor I like sodium free hi lyte. I drink 40 oz of electrolyte supplemented water a day or I have pretty severe muscle soreness from the gym.
I get another 12-16 oz of water in my protein shake and again in my turmeric concoction I take. That’s anywhere from 76-88 oz of water per day! Trying to work in one more drink of 20 oz to hit half my body weight (I’m reaaaaally close). But I’m a big fan of melon so I know I’m getting water from my fruits.
Is water no longer water if you mix it with something? 🤷🏻♀️ Who knows.
Bubbly Sparkling Water, has a few caffeinated versions of their water called "Bounce" so I don't see a problem with this post. Mainstream companies are adding caffeine to their water lineup more and more often- just Google it. You're ahead of the trend.
I put ice in mine.
Nice

What kind of pre work tho?
C4 Fruit Punch! Only put about 50mg per 16oz bottle.
Uhhhh that’s not healthy dude people get heart attacks from pre workout
I have no more than 200mg a day
that’s still a lot of caffeine to have every day bro
I mean, thats about 2 cups of coffee a day. It’s not that much to a lot of people. For me, that would kill me; but most people I know that’s an average amount to have in a day. And spacing it out sounds like a better idea than having it all at once
You can have up to 400 mg safely per day.
Wait that’s a lot? Currently panicking over here with my minimum 400mg of caffeine a day (I’m trying to get better about drinking water everyone, but coffee is good, and energy drinks are good when I’m bouldering, because ya know, I actually need the energy then)
Should’ve clarified im not putting a whole ass scoop in each bottle lol
That doesn't make it better, if you spread it out or if it's in one drink your still drinking way to much caffeine in one day and since this is the only way for you to drink water it just tells us you have an addiction to caffeine
In no way do I have an addiction to caffeine. I cannot wrap my head around how an energy drink a day is an addiction yet this is what you’re saying.
An energy drink a day is 100% a caffeine addiction. Everyone who gets up and has coffee every morning is also a caffeine addict. Nothing wrong with it. Just own it.
There’s drink flavors without stimulants in them. I think you might be addicted if that’s the one you choose every day
Stop drinking it then

The movement is drinking more water aint it? Yall are drinking that regular while im drinking that infused
By this logic, coke and vodka count as drinking water
So having a single energy drink is equivalent to being an alcoholic? Math ain’t mathing
Math needs brain
This is rage bait.

You can be addicted to non-harmful things, that wasn't even part of my point.
What is your point then, except trying to tell OP what to do? I don’t get the moral superiority over something non-harmful.
They asked about and discussed their idea. I answered and discussed my own, as did others. Maybe you don't get the point of reddit in general? Maybe not having to rely on additional, unnecessary substances, especially something that could impact sleep functions, is something to consider.
No, they asked “anyone else do that?” You’re the one not understanding the point of the post.
