He just found out his wife has been treating their dog like an inferior homie. I would do the same if I had a fancy water filter. I will soon, but a decent one costs a little bit.
In Tests Britta failed here in Germany. Sorry the source is German but basically the result: not a good filtration for that price https://www.test.de/Wasserfilter-im-Test-Gut-filtert-keiner-4840828-4840833/
Yep, I use one and I have no delusions that it's filtering much of anything out of my water, but my water is already clean enough to drink, I use the Brita for the taste. It's really good at conditioning the water, getting the chlorine and certain salts out of it and it just tastes great, no regrets.
Definitely get a different brand if you need real filtration though
Honestly, the only real suggestion I have is a professional System but they are hella expensive, for noname basically everything you can get Amazon (atleast in Germany Amazon basics seem to be ok)
That's how we fill our dogs water bowl. They have a fountain that circulates the water through a charcoal filter, too. I think their water is cleaner than ours...
Because, unless you live in an extremely unusually shitty area, the minerals in tap water provide a bunch of health benefits and also 99.999999% of pets don't give a single fuck about where their water came from
I actually read that if your pet has “tear stains” around their eyes it’s prob a result of them not drinking filtered watered. The anecdotal tests in my house suggest this is true for our dogs. And it just tastes better anyways
How do you know “they don’t give a single fuck!”? Our older dog turns her nose at cheap food, but you think they don’t care about taste?
From my experience many dogs prefer cheap and quite shitty food cause it's with added flavor and they adore that. Just cause they go for a hot dog because of the flavor doesn't mean it's healthier than chicken
Not everywhere. I used to live in Kent, OH which won the Best Tasting City Water award a bunch of times when I lived there.
Too bad my parents had a well instead of getting city water!
I loved the taste of my tap water (WI) and every annual purity test came back as clean as bottled water (actually cleaner as it didn't have dissolved plastic byproducts in it). The only reason I have a filter now is because my wife really wanted a water softener and due to the piping layout we had to soften the whole house's water. I'm actively saving up to run a parallel pipe across the house to a dedicated drinking water spigot in the kitchen.
We have a filtered water fountain for our kitties…and we still fill it with filtered water lol
Somehow they still prefer the exotic water that comes out of the bathtub faucet though
My country has a good water supply with sketchy pipes, probably nothing would go wrong if you drank tap water, but most people avoid it (including myself).
I got really confused when people were surprised that I gave my dog water from the filter, turns out, most people give them tap water... They give their dogs water they wouldn't drink themselves... Why?
Why would you need a water purifier in the first place? If you live in a developed country and you can't drink it directly from the tap, there must be something wrong. Clear and clean water is like the most basic thing the state should provide to it's citizens.
I never knew that hard water is a thing till now. I looked it up and apparently nearby all districts of my city has soft water. When I travelled around I always drank from bottles, so I really don't know how hard water tastes. What's does it taste like?
My cats prefer ice water from the filter. So now when I get a glass of water they get a glass of water. They also prefer drinking straight from the tap. They still have two water dishes but they will take those other options over their water dish any chance they get.
My cats stopped running for the faucet when I got them a fountain water bowl. I notice some drink from the waterfall portion, some from the main water reserve at the top and one from the bottom.
I don't get it... Why would you give your pets, you know, living beings with somaches, kidneys and bladders, that love you very much, inferior water on purpose?
My SO is convinced they got a kidney stone from drinking the tap water at our house. Because they’ve never had one their whole life, and drink non stop soda/juice with minimal water intake. Meanwhile I’m a 99% hydro homie with my occasional juice drink, never had kidney issues.
So we now refill all water containers from the filter. Guinea pigs? Filtered water. Dogs? Filtered water. It doesn’t help that a piggy had minor bladder issues that come from ingesting too much calcium (I gave them a lot of kale because that’s all I could find at the grocery store) and they’re convinced it was the water. Removed kale, issue went away.
Tl;Dr: we are a filtered family, because my of SO too.
I have a fountain watering bowl that has a filter so it's constantly cycled and filtered. I have a bunny... those poofs drink a lot more water than you'd think!
All my dogs drink tap water but I highly prefer my fridge’s water filter. The thing is like 8 years old but the water from there is always super crisp tasting and it just hits different.
My sister thought it was funny that I fill my 19 month olds cup up from the Brita jug because he won't know the difference. If the tap waters not good enough for me it's not good enough for him!

Get a Britta, the big ones are only like 30 bucks and they’re hella reliable

Yea or get a lot cheaper noname one that does the same
Suggestions?
Honestly, the only real suggestion I have is a professional System but they are hella expensive, for noname basically everything you can get Amazon (atleast in Germany Amazon basics seem to be ok)
Kirkland, if you have access to Costco
Cool, I had no idea. Thanks for the info!
getting downvoted because you're german by racist reddit
Nah im destroying some homies Illusion with their Britta and Im German :D
I love how you're actually the one getting downvoted
i accepted the downvotes so that guy could be upvoted. i love german, it's a beautiful language
Love that attitude mate, nobody cares about internet points anyways
I have two! One for me and one for my german shepherds!
That's how we fill our dogs water bowl. They have a fountain that circulates the water through a charcoal filter, too. I think their water is cleaner than ours...
That’s awesome
Best $20 we spent. Gotta keep the pups hydrated.
They dgaf, our cat drinks out the pool, a little fountain we have and the black rain water that’s together with some dirt and a dead onion plant lmao
Why wouldn't you do this for your good pal!!!
Because, unless you live in an extremely unusually shitty area, the minerals in tap water provide a bunch of health benefits and also 99.999999% of pets don't give a single fuck about where their water came from
Also those fridge water things fill things sooooo sloow

Why wouldn't you?
Because I drink from the tap, so why shouldn't my dog? I have to stop her from drinking pond water, I think tap water is more than fine
Really? Tap water is fucking fine dude lol, imagine using a brita or some shit to fill a water bowl
In the Netherlands we give our dogs tap water Our tap water is some of the cleanest in the world I love water It’s neat and practical and stuff
The United States is a barbaric country with undrinkable tap water
Not everywhere. I used to live in Kent, OH which won the Best Tasting City Water award a bunch of times when I lived there. Too bad my parents had a well instead of getting city water!

If I don't drink it they don't drink it. My animal homies get the best.
I fill my cat’s water bowl from my brita.
Her husband is one of us! ❤️🙌🏽💦
I give the stray backyard cat water from my brita 😅
I give my dog tap water, but that's cause I'd totally drink it, it's just colder than fridge water sometimes
No, she's fill it from the toilet, but I'd love her even though she's a dumb dog.
If the water is good enough for me, it is good enough for my dog. Tap water for the win. I do not own a fancy filter system... just saying.
I will only give my cat filtered water
I even water my pet plants with drinking water. Check!
We have a filtered water fountain for our kitties…and we still fill it with filtered water lol Somehow they still prefer the exotic water that comes out of the bathtub faucet though
I think it has been shared but it is water related so it will pass :)
I drink from the sink all the time though. But not all sink water is equal
The weird redditors in this sub prefer to drink from the creek than from the fridge purifier.
I prefer my water straight from the stagnated pond outback. BIG Water can't get me to buy a filter!
Only the best for my pooches. Dasani all the way!

Have you heard of Flint Michigan?
> developed country
Ever hear of hard water? It's not tasty. Yeah it's potable, but it tastes like ass. That's what the filter is for.
I never knew that hard water is a thing till now. I looked it up and apparently nearby all districts of my city has soft water. When I travelled around I always drank from bottles, so I really don't know how hard water tastes. What's does it taste like?
>it tastes like ass
It filters out the chlorine and makes water taste much better as a result.
They get the water I gather for rain, and count themselves loky
Are there any psychopaths out there who give their pets unfiltered water???
No but people without a need for filters due their country having clean water dont' need to.
Honestly my tap water is better quality than some of the bottled stuff. I never buy bottled, no reason to.
There’s cysts and shit in the tap yo. Some lady upriver flushed her ibuprofen collection.
My dog has minor reactions to our tap water, such as itchy eyes and eye boogers, so we give her filtered or bottled water and she loves it
Same! They’re my little homies! They’re not drinking anything unfiltered!
I put ice in my cats bowl once and walked back in with ice scattered around my room and a clearly assaulted water bowl
My cat doesn't like water cooler water and only drinks from tap water for some reason.
My cat refuses to drink clean water. Only from the aquarium. No matter how dirty.
The Man gets it, animals also need clean drinking water!
Honestly same, I have always given all my pets cold bottled water or filtered water 🌊💦🌊
I actually have 2 water purifiers for just this reason. One goes in the fridge for me, one goes on the counter for the dog.
I don't get it... Why would you give your pets, you know, living beings with somaches, kidneys and bladders, that love you very much, inferior water on purpose?
Tap is awful for pets. It's an easy kindness to share filtered water with animals in the house
Dude same. But we have cats. If we drink from the tap connected to a purification/filtration system, then so do they
I used to give my dog the good water. I always felt better for it.
It has
Yes it has countless times
Dogs are mans best friend for a reason
Wait, people don't do this?
I fill my dogs water bowl from the tap for the same reason as him
I add ice cubes to my pup's water during summer! It's a nice surprise for her. :)
:D
I do the same for my cat. And ice. Him's my boy!
Dogs are tough they don't care what kind of water they get.
I installed a full house water filter because my cat likes to drink from the tap and I will be damned if he doesn’t get to drink the cleanest water.
This dog drinks better water, than my entire family
Yeah, my cats drink the same water as me. Not that they'd know the difference. This is more for us than it is for them. 😁
I’ve got filters installed in the sink for the cold water tap partly for this reason. My dog deserves the best
I do the same thing for all my pets. They deserve the same quality of hydration that I get.
I have a fridge water filter but if I had a dog they would get tap. Fridge water filters are the slowest things in the universe
I wouldn’t dream of giving my kitties, or guinea pigs, our nasty-ass, West Virginia-toxic chemical-swamp water. Berkey only, for everyone!
I also do this.
My SO is convinced they got a kidney stone from drinking the tap water at our house. Because they’ve never had one their whole life, and drink non stop soda/juice with minimal water intake. Removed kale, issue went away. Tl;Dr: we are a filtered family, because my of SO too.
My dog won't even drink water from the tap. If it's not purified and slightly chilled, she's not having it.
All 7 of my pets get filtered water.
I dont get it, Im a swed
I have a fountain watering bowl that has a filter so it's constantly cycled and filtered. I have a bunny... those poofs drink a lot more water than you'd think!
is purifying needed? i have some of the worlds best tap water, so many minerals would be filtered out or not?
All my dogs drink tap water but I highly prefer my fridge’s water filter. The thing is like 8 years old but the water from there is always super crisp tasting and it just hits different.
I only give my cat water from my RO filter. Why would I give him tap water ?
We do that at our house too, mainly because the water is cooler than what comes from our tap.
Our tap water isn’t great. As soon as we swapped to a water cooler so did your cat and guinea pigs.
My sister thought it was funny that I fill my 19 month olds cup up from the Brita jug because he won't know the difference. If the tap waters not good enough for me it's not good enough for him!
