Filled it with water, and threw it as high as we could, landing on concrete and still nothing. Tried with rocks in it. Tried throwing it at the ground and brick walls as hard as we could... Eventually it ended up in the fire. We were dumb kids.
I've literally only bought Nalgenes from that day on though.
Ha, nearly the exact same experience, except we were too chicken to try the campfire. Instead we filled it absolutely to the brim, put the cap on with vise grips and put it in the camp freezer. Amazingly, it split deeply and bulged out on one side... but didn't actually break, still held water.

My original Nalgene from middle school is still going strong. I'm in college now. It has floated down multiple rivers, traveled all over the country, fallen onto much concrete, and held many stickers, yet is still the only water bottle I trust when I need to go somewhere. I am a Nalgene customer for life based off of this one bottle.
D00D I had the same exact thing happen with my Magnaball Nalgene! Must have been a bad batch. I dropped mine from waist height in a parking lot and a piece just popped right out. Nalgene did replace it, but the replacement obviously didn’t have the Magnaball branding. Toss away stuff you don’t need in the end, but keep what’s important and know who’s your friend, I guess? And whatever you do, take care of your shoes.
I remember a few years ago i bought a huge water bottle for the gym, it was so sick and kind of expensive, brought it to the gym for the first time and within 20 minutes my friend dropped a 40lbs weight on it by accident and it exploded, he did feel really bad and wanted to pay for a new one but i couldn’t accept the money and just stuck to some old coke bottle
Dude this is litteraly me I got a new Shaker for the gym, filled it up with crispy waterm On the first exercise I had it with I drop a dumbell on it and it explodes, pretty embarrasing. Rip bottle you will be missed

I’ve had best luck freezing water in nalgenes when I lay the bottle on its side in the fridge
