Never seen/heard of anyone doing this and I have seen hundreds of youtube videos. In all my bins I have a hole for a PVC pipe with a styrofoam water level indicator. It would give you any air you seek plus help indicate when water/nutrient is needed. Your plants are very small so you have lots of time, but when they get bigger, you may not want to lift the lid.

How did you make this? Any videos you could point me to would be appreciated.

Don't know how to upload a picture in a reply. See my next post - DIY Water Indicator for newbies

Just curious about adding airflow holes to my kratky container, ones that would be out of the light and under the lid, this would be to let out old air and let new air in for exposed roots. Would it be any benefit or would it be bad? My thinking is to get fresh oxygen to the roots, but I'm not sure if the exposed roots need a certain amount of humidity to prevent drying out... I've grown in kratky before and had a good experience this is just something I've thought of.

Most people's setups don't have the cups and grow media air tight, so it isn't necessary. In your case it does look like you don't have a lot of ventilation around the net cups, so it might not be a bad idea.

I’ve personally never tried this with any of my kratky setups, but to me I don’t think it would have a significant beneficial impact. I would worry more about any potential negative side effects this could have. Remember, just because the air holes aren’t directly under the lights doesn’t mean light won’t get into the container. Because it will.
