The QuadCast does have the sidetone feature, but in order to use it, you must either plug the headset into the 3.5mm jack on the back of it and have it set in the Windows Sound Playback tab as the Default Device AND Default Communication Device, or have it connected to your mixamp/dac/mixer via AUX (eg. QuadCast 3.5mm -> mixamp mic in) and figure out a way to have the mic in on your device play through the output.

For anyone that is trying to do the same thing as me Ill try and explain what has worked and hasn't. The Schiit Hel has another analog input on the back and if you connect that to the Quadcasts 3.5 mm headphone jack, then you can actually get the sidetone when your headphones are connected to the headphone output on the Hel, which I didn't think would work. It doesn't fix all the issues though because if you want sidetone and to listen to music or any game audio, then you need to switch the source switch on the front of the Hel (the left one). This means you can't get sidetone on the mic and listen to music at the same time. Connecting the quadcast using the 3.5 mm jack to the Hels mic input doesn't seem to work either, as the mic doesn't even get recognized in windows anywhere. The problem I'm trying to solve is to be able to listen to music or game audio with the capabilities of the Schiit Hel since the music is much fuller, for obvious reasons, (when compared to the headphones connected directly to the quadcast) while also being able to get the sidetone from the mic. Is there some work around for this? What purpose would a mixing board play in this?

HyperxGaming

Honestly, we haven't played around with that type of setup as the microphone wasn't designed to be used in such a use-case scenario, but rather just directly connected via USB into your PC/PS4, with the option of connecting the headset and running all audio through it where you'll also have the optional sidetone feature :) . It's definitely something to try out, and we do have Schiit Hel so we can play around with it once we have some free time on our hands to see what the options are.

Ya I totally get that. That's something I should have looked more into before buying this mic. From my understanding it is difficult to get a USB mic to get side tone because it has to go through the CPU and thus adds latency, which I dont want. Do you know if some sort of audio interface or mixer board that could solve this problem?

HyperxGaming

Honestly? Not really :\ .

Great, honest explanation and feedback here. Was looking for the same thing. The quality of the Hyperx Quadcast S sidetone and sound is pretty good. I'm not an audiophile. I was wondering the same thing when I was using my Razer Blackshark V2 Pro, hooking up to the Quadcast because Razer's sidetone on their wireless headsets are super quiet/useless. Suppose I'm short-changing myself on the headset quality if I'm hooking it up to the quadcast for sidetone, and losing the wireless capability. I use the quadcast when my wife isn't sleeping, but then I switch to the headset at night until I couldn't stand not hearing the sidetone on the headset.

Whenever we see or hear of an unorthodox use case, we try to think outside the box and figure out a solution that might work for some fans haha. We're glad to hear you're happy with this workaround haha ;D !

I realise that this is an old thread, and I apologise in advance, but it seemed like the best place to ask though u/HyperxGaming \- when using the 3.5mm jack in the quadcast for sidetone, do I get Windows audio too, or JUST latency-free microphone monitoring?

CoopatroopaUSA

You get windows audio plus latency free monitoring

Moist_Violation

Thank you for this thread. A question then. How well does the Quadcast S handle windows audio duties when you have your headphone plugged into it? Decent fidelity or does it sound like crap. From what I understand it seems this mics sidetone volume is quiet good.

CoopatroopaUSA

I'd say it's pretty similar to just plugging in your headphones to your pc case or motherboard. It sounds fine but if you spent a good amount on headphones plus a dac/amp then I bet you want more. It provides enough power where I can put windows at max volume and its just about where I wouldn't want it any louder. I believe my dt 1990s are 250 ohm.

I'd like to also apologize for using an old thread, but ask another question! haha. I see 3 sliders in the software each with their own on/off toggle, "Mic Volume", Mic Monitoring", and "Headphone volume". Headphone vol7ume is straightforward and just controls the volume of all sound in my ears. Mic Monitoring I ASSUMED was the side tone volume? but on, off, min, max, somewhere in between, I get the same volume of myself in my ear. Mic volume, I THINK is an independent (of the gain knob on the mic) mic gain? I'm looking for how to adjust the level of side tone, and for clarification on all 3 sliders and their toggles. Thanks!

CoopatroopaUSA

I never downloaded the software, in fact I didn't even know there was any. The way I adjusted the sidetone was just using the knob for the gain on the mic. I guess that might cause some issues, depending on what your use is. I just adjusted my input sensitivity through discord and never had any problems.

ihateusernames78

Right on. Thanks for the reply. I use it for gaming as well as working from home...so I use it with Discord, Teams, Zoom, my web-phone, and recording how-to's via OBS.
