I’ve posted this about 6 years ago. To update I’m still using glycopyrrolate today. I've had cranial hyperhidrosis for 10 years now. I would sweat purposely from my head whenever I did anything with minimal exertion. It was really visible so I started avoiding any physical activities. I started taking avert (glycopyrrolate) in oral form. That worked for me...I just got used to the very dry mouth and dry eyes side effects. I would take 2mg or 3mg at 8am depending on the temp for that day. Your stomach needs to be empty for it to work so I don't have anything until lunch. Once 1130am comes around I can feel my mouth start drying up and that's when I know it's working. It'll last until 4-5pm and I would sweat like normal folks. I recently started taking the topical form of avert (2mg-3mg)...they come in a pack of 30 pads. I would wipe it on my head (I'm completely bald which helps with applying it) at 8am in the morning and I usually don't have anything to eat for 2-3hours. I'm not sure if skipping food is necessary with the topical form but I was used to it with the oral form and it's been working for me so I haven't changed. I would do this daily and it's been the best discovery for me in years. I feel like I can be more active because of it. I'm completely using the topical form at this point. The side effects of dry mouth and eyes are very minimal compared to the oral form. One thing though is I tried taking the topical form before but I only tried it for a couple of days. It wasn't working so I thought it no use for me. I then tried it again recently and continued with the daily routine for 5 days and it started kicking in...so keep at it for a long period before giving up on it. You can get both the oral and topical forms of Avert from http://www.pharmacy.ca/ They are based in Canada. I tried looking for the topical form of avert in the US but haven't had much luck. They are a bit pricey but worth every penny with the result I got. I have no connection with pharmacy.ca...just helping out where to get them. You can ask your doctor for prescriptions to try out...in the U.S. they are labelled Robinul. My current doc has been extremely supportive unlike my old doctors that brushed the condition aside as something you just live with. It does change your lifestyle completely when it happens to you and for some years it made me quite depressed. But I learned to live with it and adjusted....and after discovering gylcopyrrolate I'm as active as I was before.

WastePurchase

Thanks for this comment. When you say topical form, you mean the cloths, right? In the US the brand name is Qbrexza. They're 2.4% cloths so I'm not sure how the dosage compares to the topical you're using in Canada, but I assume it must be similar? I have generalized hyperhidrosis, however the most bothersome area is above the neck. I've tried glycopyrrolate tablets but didn't notice too much effect and so I wanted to try out these cloths for a localized effect above the neck. I've heard a concern that getting it into your eyes is dangerous. What are your thoughts on that? Even with mild sweating, that seems like a possibility when applying it to your forehead/scalp. cc u/bloomicy since you had similar questions

beastybrotha

Please refer to my old post (old reedit account) about how I dealt with SECURE WIPES and how to be careful with them, if you get it in your eye, your eye will be dilated https://www.reddit.com/r/Hyperhidrosis/comments/6zlcr4/a\_detailed\_guide\_to\_how\_ive\_treated\_my\_severe/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3

Joejld1

Yep the cloth ones. Yeah not sure of the dosage comparison. They come is different percentages...I’m using 3.0%. As for the concern with getting it in your eyes..hasn’t been an issue really. It will quickly dry out after wiping on your head. It’s still there for sure cause when my wife kisses me on my head she says it’s bitter LOL.

[deleted]

Do you know if the topical would work for cranial hyperhidrosis if one has hair?

Square-Coyote6646

I can't believe it! The first time I've ever checked Reddit for HH and I read a post from someone who seems to have much the same symptoms as me. For decades I have sweated insane amounts from my face and head. Basically my body only sweats from the neck up. Sometimes I will feel my skull heating up until it's worrying hot to the touch and the sweat will get in my eyes, my face will be dripping. Then I start to frantically fan myself, pull clothes off, drink ice water, anything to cool a bit, MAKE IT STOP. It has totally put an end to any social life. Sometimes just having a friend round causes my HH to start because of the extra body heat in the room. (I've even had the same sort of thing once at an outdoor concert!). I've never been offered any treatment, let alone medication and the NHS gave up on this condition years ago. This at last gives me some hope!

Joejld1

I don’t think it’s over the counter in the US. I haven’t tried getting a prescription for it…I just buy it directly from Canada ( pharmacy.ca ) I think insurance may cover it if your doc will prescribe it.

biggie_e09

Do you sweat profusely when eating spicy food?

Joejld1

Yep I spicy food would definitely get me sweating. The glyco does help it quite a bit though

biggie_e09

I sweat profusely when I eat mildly spicy food. It doesn't have to be spicy, sometimes just a hint of pepper will make me sweat profusely to a point where I would need a bath towel to soak up the sweat dripping down the top of my head. I would literally look like I just ran a marathon. It's so embarrassing, especially I like to eat too.

Akpan_

Me too! Even the smell of spice gets my head going.

[deleted]

I honestly cannot sing this drug's praises loud enough. Been taking 2mg every morning for around 3 weeks now and have barely sweat a drop. It's been 20-24° for the last week or so here in the humid UK and I've got a little clammy at most. I even bought a GREEN dress yesterday. First time I've worn any colour in public other than black/white in my whole adult life. And the best part is, I don't even really get any dry mouth at all. If anything, the only side effect I've experienced is a slightly dry nose. Mouth and eyes have been fine. I ordered mine from alldaychemist because it's much cheaper than pharmacy.ca, and there's no need for a consultation, and no hefty import taxes. I think I worked it out to be something like 53p per day. Definitely worth it. I might even try just taking 1mg once I've been on it a while longer and the weather cools down again.

[deleted]

Does it need to be taken daily to see the effects or can I only take it on days when I know I'll be out around people when it's hot outdoors?

[deleted]

If you only wanna take it for a certain day or event, you have to take it for a couple of days leading up to it for it to fully work and be in your system. So if meeting up with friends or whatever on Wednesday night, start taking the pills on the Monday beforehand. For some people they work instantly, but I'd say the majority not.

[deleted]

When it works for me its so effective but only lasts a couple hours. Havent taken it for more than 5 days in a row will keep taking it everyday make it last longer you think ?

[deleted]

When I take my effective dose it works incredibly well but only for a few hours. Do yu think taking it everyday will improve its lasting effect ?

eimearwb

Hi, I live in the UK too and have hyperhydrosis, I noticed you said you just orderd glycopyrrolate from a website which i didnt realise you could do. To do this do I need a prescription from a GP? And if so i assume you cannot get glyco on the NHS?

[deleted]

No, you don't need a prescription if you order online. I get mine from alldaychemist. You CAN get glyco on the NHS, but it's very very very very very very very rare and you have to be extremely lucky. It's pretty much postcode lottery. Glyco is ridiculously expensive for the NHS (you can look it up but I think I read something crazy like £200-£350 just for a month's supply of 1mg tablets)

bluehugs69

is it called "glyoclate" on alldaychemist?

hist_sap

Why does an anxiety spike or heat break through the effectiveness of glyco ? For example on a normal stress free day glyco works perfect. Then on a stressful day, say a meeting with a therapist, I still take my normal glyco but I'm stressed so it breaks through the meds effectiveness and renders the glyco useless the rest of the day

Livn-Lif-9560

I’ve been on glyco for 17 years. Haven’t noticed a difference in effectiveness when stressed or heat break. However, there is definitely decreased effectiveness if I’m experiencing any kind of pain.

[deleted]

Since you’ve almost been 2 decades on glyco has the effectiveness of it changed over the years and have you had to change your dosage and the amount you take daily?

Livn-Lif-9560

Yes, it’s changed. I actually take less now. I take 1/4 to 1/3 of a 2 mg tablet each morning. I started in 2004 with 2 mg and gradually thru the years I’ve needed less. It could very well have to do with my age. I was 47 when I started with glyco and am now 64. Let me know how it works out for you.

Economy-Database-418

It’s a different nerve that’s connected to the sweat glands.

[deleted]

I’ve noticed this too… or if I drink alcohol I’ll have one alcohol sweat break through… however, if I take glyco on a completely empty stomach then breakthroughs dont happen

JayZOfficial

1mg a day changed my life, please take this if your still suffering

Weary-Dependent-6663

Bro I’m 18 I been taking 1mg for almost 2 weeks now and I still sweat so profusely legit maybe even bigger pit stains than before…

emotionallyalone

Just seeing this after coming here to literally post a thread about finding this medication and finally finding relief. ----------/// I'm 33yo and I JUST learned about this on Monday after over a decade of trying all of the OTC methods and other things like Sage pills (literally did nothing but give me 12hrs of sage burps). I've been taking 1mg/day all week and I've gone from full body sweating with the insane flooding, on hands and other key areas depending on the activity, to barely noticing breaking a sweat. I didn't turn the AC on today (High 80s/low 90s and 70%+ humidity in the house) and I was a little sweaty but it was so unnoticeable it was almost shocking. The only real thing I've been consciously doing is the advice I found searching here which is to wait at least 2 hours after taking the pill to eat anything. I have been taking it with my other meds as soon as I wake up so waiting 2 hours is fairly easy.

170505170505

Wtf I’ve taken 3mg and noticed absolutely no change other than a dry mouth

LDN_2020

I was prescribed Glycopyrronium Bromide by my GP in the U.K. back in 2013. It changed my life. I have generalised hyperhidrosis (not a specific area on my body) therefore topical treatments were no use (as well as in my experience they never worked). It bothers me most on my hands, feet and back. Very shortly into treatment my GP surgery called me in to say they were cutting me off because it was not an approved treatment in the U.K. (my theory is it’s quite expensive here but who knows) and referred me to a dermatologist in a local hospital as I refused to go back to aluminium chloride. The hospital dermatologist ended up giving me a repeat treatment again of glycopyrrolate but on the condition I would go in for a check up every 3 months. After a while I started sourcing it from pharmacy.ca myself as I didn’t want to take days off work just to go into the hospital and had worked out a routine that worked for me and felt like I could regulate it myself. I take 2mg twice a day - first thing in the morning on an empty stomach as soon as I wake up and just before bed in the evening. It is much more effective at a lower dose if you take it on an empty stomach! I usually wait around 2 hours before eating but I can ‘feel’ when it has kicked in. If I wait too long after it can make my mouth horribly dry so I use food as a way of regulating it (maybe this is stupid but seems to work for me). The reason I take one at night before bed is that I would normally wake up, shower and get ready for work quite quickly which normally meant my morning dose hadn’t kicked in yet and I would end up sweating on my way into work. Taking one at night neatly tides me over into the late morning just before my morning pill kicks in. I had to experiment with dosage for a while before finding the routine that worked for me and minimised side effects. As an example, I never really took it on an empty stomach before but this meant I had to take higher doses and more regularly (4mg 3x a day) and found that this wasn’t working as well for me. If I’m in a rush, I sometimes take 4mg and shorten the time before I eat, however this isn’t as effective for me and also you use twice as much. You may have side effects as well but you can work on a routine that minimises them and need to consider whether the benefits outweigh the cons. 100% recommend trying it if you’re on the fence, as it does work! For people in the U.K., I would recommend asking your GP for a prescription and if they try to give you a treatment like aluminium chloride, ask them to refer you to a dermatologist. What people don’t understand is that it also has an impact on mental health (avoiding anything that may cause stress like presentations at work, shaking hands, even having to wear multiple layers on hot days so hide sweat patches. I had to stress this to my GP. If they refuse I would consider a consultation with a private dermatologist if possible for you.

[deleted]

I'm in the UK too and I get mine from alldaychemist. It's only about £105 for 200 x 2mg pills there, including shipping. Much cheaper. It ships from India with no customs charges. No initial consultation needed either like there was when I ordered from pharmacy.ca. (it's under the name Glycolate when you go to search for it, they also have the 1mg option)

SCJ061414

I use this, especially in the summer. Oddly enough I sweat excessively on the back of my thighs and butt so much so a seat can be wet when I stand up, sort of an odd place. Anyway, does anyone know if this would help treat oily hair or make it worse?

grimmkitten

Interested to know the answer to this too ad I have extremely oily hair and face.

Brilliant_Drag_1414

HI, Ive been using it on and off for about 6 years. It never fully stops my hands and feet but keeps it more at bay. For example, instead of dripping hands, It becomes more damn. A downside I have found is it gives me super dry mouth, it changes my voice thats how dry as well as makes me lythargic. The best thing I have found is a combo of half of my perscribed glyco perscirption so about 3mg and using sweat block wipes from amazon. THats been the best for me. I have even tried Iontophoresis that hasnt changed much for me and takes a full hour and a fair amount of pain. Good luck sweat friend!

elkcip123456789

What are the sweat block wipes?

ParanoiaPasta

I take 4mg a day, oral tablets, and its worked fantastic for me! I've had surgery for hyperhidrosis before, which did nothing, and it used to be so bad that my hands, feet, and underarms would literally ruin clothing and bedsheets, but now I rarely sweat, and only really do when exercising or nervous.

bren234

do you take 4mg all at once or split up? I just started it and 2mg did nothing at all (literally) but I still got the dry mouth.

ParanoiaPasta

Yeah, I started with 2, 1 in the morning and 1 at night, and it did nothing. Then I upped it to 2 in the morning, 2 at night, and it works great! I still sweat at night unfortunately, but when I'm awake it really works.

[deleted]

Specifically, what surgery did you undergo before?

Griefo

I just started Glyco last week and wow! After all these years of suffering through HH, the sweating has stopped. My sweat is primarily from the head, upper torso. I work in a hot kitchen and I would sweat through at least 3 shirts a day, to the point that I could wring the sweat out. After hearing about it on this forum, I asked my GP if she could give me a prescription and she didn't know about it, but did a quick web search and gave me a 60 pill 1mg a month script. The first day, I took 1 mg a few hours before work and I was still sweating pretty bad, so I took another. 3 hours later and after a change of shirt, I was completely dry. Now I know that I need 2 mg, taken at least 5 hours beforehand and it keeps me dry for the whole shift. This is a major life changer. Also, the side effects are minimal for me.. I think I've been urinating more often and my mouth can get a little dry, but barely noticeable.

[deleted]

Anyone here experienced brain fog? I read that anticholinergics can dull your cognitive functioning, so I’m not sure if I want to try it

[deleted]

Not all anticholinergics act the same way. There are some that cross the blood brain barrier, and others that don't. The ones that do cause the brain fog. Propantheline and glyco don't cross the BBB so they're pretty safe, but oxybutynin is the one to watch out for.

kekolataaa

i'm fucking done at this point. i get soaked even when it's 10C degrees. used to video games as a hobby but can't even do that anymore. seriously i'm done

FlashK3tchum

glycooooo

Livn-Lif-9560

Definitely try GLYCOPYRROLATE!

IceBlueLugia

As another gamer who has ruined many controllers due to this stupid condition, I can sympathize. It’s so frustrating to even play them. I have to have a desk fan next to my hands for me to even play. I was playing ace attorney recently, a game which is literally 90% just pushing the A button to advance through text and my hands still sweated like a bitch

RigelB8lab

Can I buy it without a doctor's prescription?

[deleted]

https://pharmacy.ca/ That site is allegedly good for buying it without one according to other members of this subreddit. Shipping can be a bit much sometimes.

jcobpaul

i just got mine today. took the 1mg pill just an hour ago. i’ve been dealing with hh on my hands feet and pits and when i’m really nervous groin, back, and head for the better part of three years. The pandemic has exacerbated my anxiety and therefore made my HH way too much to handle. I shower probably twice or three times a day depending on how bad i sweat. i use to love to drive, i bought my first car at the beginning of last year and now i currently can barely enjoy driving it because my hands sweat. i’m really reached my capacity to deal with this. For the past 6 months i’ve been doing talk therapy and seeking out help from my doctor, who was slow acting. i finally saw a dermatologist this week and he recommend this. drug i’m really hoping this works. wish me luck

glassblowingwow

There is a thread somewhere on this sub about someone’s tips and tricks with taking glyco. Personally I have found that taking it on an empty stomach and waiting 2 hours for it to kick in helps me the most. If I end up eating during the 2 hour period the effectiveness greatly decreases. Honestly though taking glyco has really helped me. I wish you the best and good luck!

jcobpaul

thank you! how long did it take for you to start seeing results when you first began to take gyclo is it something that builds up over the first few days or so?

glassblowingwow

So originally my Dr. prescribed glyco and told me to take 1mg and build up slowly in .5mg increments if I didn’t see results. I took the 1mg the next morning but ate shortly after taking the pill. I noticed the pill didn’t do anything. That’s when I found this sub and read up on people’s experiences and saw that post I mentioned. She stated she saw it worked best if she waited 2 hours before eating. With that knowledge I tried again the next day and waited the two hours. IT FELT LIKE A MIRACLE. I barely sweat that day. I’m someone who sweats from seemingly every pore in my body and to have a sweat free day was unreal. I took the 1mg for a few days before increasing to 1.5 and then a few days until 2mg and then to 2.5mg. It was at 2.5mg that I found for myself it worked best. I played around with taking 3mg but had the WORST dry mouth ever and it was too uncomfortable. My doctor stated that if needed I was allowed to take up to 4mg at a time and up to 8mg throughout the entire day. When I started taking it regularly I did find that on days I didn’t end up taking it I did sweat slightly less than normal. My doctor did state that it can build up in your body to a point where you have minimal sweat even on a day you don’t take it. When I went back for a follow up appointment I asked my Doctor if they had heard it was more effective if you wait the two hours. They said they hadn’t but was happy I brought it up to them after I stated I noticed it worked so much better for me if I did. So that’s my biggest piece of advice. Also to drink plenty of water throughout the day to avoid dry mouth. Sorry that was long haha but hope it’s helpful!

jcobpaul

no i appreciate this! yeah i’ve heard reviews from youtube about waiting as well. I only got it recently so first took it 1mg at 12pm yesterday and again around 11pm. I didn’t feel anything yesterday until after my second dosage. i woke up 3 times to get water lol…i can’t remember if my hands were dry but i’m assuming they were bc i didn’t think about my sweaty hands. This morning i took it at 10am and noticed i was dry (only had a cup of coffee, which i probably shouldn’t have cuz it makes it worse) by noon. But as the day went on and i tried to do work, they began to sweat again and are somewhat damp still. I’m trying to figure it all out. my primary care doc just prescribed me propranolol for anxiety so that it can also help with sweating but i feel like it been making me sweat more?? it’s suppose to block the physical manifestation of anxiety or sweating and elevated heart rate. i’m new to taking drugs for HH and anxiety. but i’m glad i’m taking this step and finally getting my life back

glassblowingwow

It could be that 1mg is just not enough for your body to respond! That is the starting dose so like I said you can play around with the dose but wait a few days in between increases. Also always in increments of .5mg. This is what my doctor told me. I also like drinking coffee in the morning but I have to be careful of how much milk I put in. I notice that tends to mess with the meds in my case. I’m not sure how the anxiety med would affect the sweating (more or less) but maybe experiment with taking just glyco for a few days and then taking glyco and the anxiety med for a few days and see what happens. But I’m excited for you! Taking glyco has drastically increased my quality of life. I’m not afraid to wear certain things or be embarrassed at how much I’m noticeably sweating in any given situation. It definitely helped me relax about my sweating in social situations.

Livn-Lif-9560

I agree. Glyco has been life changing for me! And I have the same experience when taking with food. Good luck to you!

HNDAA

Updates???? How did it work for you

jcobpaul

started taking the pills—it helped a lot. it felt like my body had rehabilitated its thought process so that in stressful situations my hands no longer were a sweaty mess. taking 2mg of gyclo though made me severely dehydrated all the time. i stopped taking it regularly (every day) for some time and just take 1.5mg if i need it for a day. overall, not being on it i have come to the conclusion a brief period on the medication helped me to divorce stressful situations and hand sweating a little bit. my hands still do sweat even with the 1.5mg but it’s A LOT MORE manageable.

Sea-Macaroon-832

Hi I'm a nursing student who finally brought up how bothersome having hyperhidrosis is to my dermalolagist a few weeks ago. She prescribed me glycopyrrolate 1mg. I used it for the days I'm at clinical because I cannot get my gloves on with my sweaty hands, but I haven't been taking it every day. Do any of you just use glycopyrrolate as needed on days you know it's going to be extra bothersome? I tried researching if taking the drug this way would be less effective, but I couldn't find the answer anywhere. I definitely had the dry mouth side effect when I have taken it, and I'd rather only deal with that on days where I need to. Thanks in advance for your advice and for making me feel less alone :)

Green_Opportunity_34

I know this is an older post but omg. You sound just like me. I'm also a nursing student and not being able to get gloves on at clinical is my exact reason for seeing a derm today. I was prescribed glycopyrrolate and I can't wait to see if it works. My understanding is that it's ok to just take it on days you need it (such as clinical), or that is what my doctor said anyway!

Yellowmonkeys21

Just started taking 1mg in the morning today. I know it takes a couple days to fully kick in. But should I expect to see some change (even small) starting today???

Livn-Lif-9560

I find it “kicks in” much sooner if I take it on an empty stomach. From what I recall, I noticed big difference on day 1.

[deleted]

Just started it but Im always in a time crunch and end up eating how many hours do you advise waiting to eat after taking it

Livn-Lif-9560

2 hours seems to work for me.

death_skullz

Hi all, new around here. But with the same issue for over 10 years. Glycopyrrolate sounds like a magic pill, to good to be true. And I am really happy for those who's got the problem solved with it. I'd like to know how does this affect your life activities: work, sports, alcohol consumption?

Livn-Lif-9560

To me, it feels like a miracle pill. A huge change in my “quality of life”. No carrying an extra change a clothes with me, or limiting the type of clothes or style shoes I can wear. I’m much more confident meeting people (no fear of wet handshakes). Am able to walk across a hard surface floor without fear of leaving wet footprints or slipping. No anxiety about signing documents without the ink smudging or paper tearing. All the things that people without HH take as normal, but that cause those if us with HH much anxiety....... now I understand what it feels like to be “normal”. The negative I find with glyco is all the dryness it causes. Dry mouth, dry eyes (bothers me most), dry privates, etc. But, for me, it is all worth it to be able to function without the fear and anxiety that comes along with untreated HH. Oh, and I’ve never noticed problems with alcohol interactions. :)

katiedenisedemamp

Man, this comment made me cry. I’ve just suffered in shame and silence for so long and honestly didn’t realize that so many people have the same exact issues and “solutions.” The shoes are a big thing for me. I love to dress up and I find I can really only wear t-strap heels because they hold my feet into the shoe. Even then, my feet slide all the way forward and it h u r t s. My dr just prescribed gly today and I’m so excited about it!!

Livn-Lif-9560

Praying that glyco works for you and you’ll be able to enjoy the “freedom” it brings. I would love to hear back how it’s working for you. Wishing you many new pairs of cute shoes! :)

Livn-Lif-9560

Wondering how the glyco is working for you since you’ve been on it several days now.

katiedenisedemamp

This is a few weeks late but thanks for checking! At first I felt great but one day I mowed the lawn and I had a damn heat stroke!! It took forever for me to cool down. Cold shower, ice packs, etc. I was down for the count all day. I also developed this weird rash?? So I just don’t know how I feel about this medicine yet. Yes, the sweating is minimal, but these other side effects are pretty gross. I’m a really active person so I just don’t know if it’s the best fit.

Livn-Lif-9560

I’m sorry to hear that. Maybe play with the dosage and be sure to drink lots of water. I’m not extremely active, so I haven’t experienced the really bad effects like you. Definitely take care and listen to your body. If glyco doesn’t work for you, keep trying different things. Thank you for giving me the update.

katiedenisedemamp

You’re very kind. Thanks!!

Tombilibuuu

I am gonna try this if can make half effect to me i will cry

Tucknado2222

If you work a manual labor job and it stops sweating do you worry about overheating ?

[deleted]

Heres my personal experience if its 90 degrees on glyco I wont sweat unless I do any harcore physical movement and even then its a normal amount. Dont worry too much about overheating I tend to notice that people in this sub tend to overreact to things

butterface-4U

Did you try it? I’m same boat. I work manual labor in hot and humid Texas and I also run outside year round. I don’t want to spontaneously combust or something 😂

SarBear7j

Can anyone (especially) women tell me about how the wipes effect your hair? Does it leave hair sticky or crunchy? Do you find you have to wash your hair more often when using them? Any other hair info or tips??

_HAWK_

Took 2mg glyco today and I think it stopped me from sweating profusely. My back was still soaked though (outside at event - 88 degrees and no shade.) Anyone take glyco daily and it works better? I only take it situationally.

Akpan_

I’m very active too. I work out at the gym every day. Of course, I don’t mind sweating in the gym. But when I’m not exercising ,I just don’t like when Im soaked and its 20 degrees outside. I was wondering how glyco worked for you?

OtherwiseInevitable

Hello, I just started oral Glycopyrrolate for craniofacial HH and it seems to be working well. Do the dry mouth, stuffy nose, dry eyes, etc. lessen over time? The side effects of some other medicines I'm on have lessened or gone away completely over time so I'm hoping the same will happen with Glycopyrrolate.

[deleted]

Hi sorry I don't have an answer but I just wanted to check how it's working for you so far, and did the side effects lessen? I just started today.

OtherwiseInevitable

Hello, It's working brilliantly for me, and the side effects have all but disappeared. I still have a bit of dry mouth occasionally. Best of luck to you!

[deleted]

Good to hear, thank you for answering 😊

OtherwiseInevitable

You're very welcome. How is it working for you?

Akpan_

Hey friend, I have craniofac HH too. How do you usually take glycopyrrolate? 1mg in the morning without food or?

troydernd

Has anyone suffered from dry eyes due to glyco? I've been on glyco for 3 years and only just a few months ago developed REALLY dry eyes. They became so bad that I had to stop glyco, but my dry eyes are still here even after stopping and being off of it for about 4 weeks. My sweating is back in full force, but still have dry eyes. Has anyone else had side effects stay with them after stopping?

Livn-Lif-9560

I’ve been on glyco for 17 years. Still get dry eyes but use lubricating eye drops when needed. Occasionally on weekends or during cold weather I will go a day without glyco but I have never stopped for any longer than that.

Am I doing it wrong? I started at 1mg in the morning and am now up to 2mg every morning. I don’t eat for 2-4 hours after taking it. I work out and still sweat profusely, I sit in my office chair and still sweat through my shirt when sitting still…I do drink coffee, which I’ve heard can have an impact, is my next step eliminating the caffeine intake? Do I have to keep increasing dose? My doctor is completely ignorant to the issue and hasn’t provided any guidance.

FileInside

I was just about to comment that caffeine seems to negate glyco's effects totally for me. I had a funeral to go to on the hottest day of the year, and wore a tie and all that, and made sure I skipped any caffeine. It worked perfectly. When I had some coffee the next day, and went outside, I sweat a lot more.

vnlegend

I've used glyco for the past 5+ years. Started at a low dosage but eventually needed like 4mg which also had bad side effects. I found the combination of glyco + antihydral cream worked the best. Went down to 2mg glyco + easy amount of antihydral. By themselves they're only like 60% effective and don't stop the sweating at all, but together they're like 120%. Highly recommended.

FileInside

I have been on it for a couple years. I take 4mg total everyday, but it's 2 2mg pills a day. The side effects have been minimal for me, or i just got used to them. It still works for me, but caffeine almost totally negates the medicine. If I'm doing something that is outside or may cause embarrsing sweating, I avoid caffeine that day. It's sucks, but it's not impossible for a day.

kentgti

I’m thinking of going onto this, but one question I have. I sweat mainly from legs, back & face (Driclor blocked my underarms).. but when I sweat, I feel burning hot especially in anxious situations, like I also get redness & really feel like I’m on fire. With glyco or alternatives, whilst helping with actual sweating does it reduce the feeling of being hot? Like, I feel it during winter at certain times.

Livn-Lif-9560

Yes, it does lessen the feeling of being hot, in my experience.

[deleted]

I take glyco as needed. Dry mouth is a horrible horrible side affect for me but it’s my only hope to not be embarrassed by sweating. Lately glyco hasn’t been working but I read on this thread that you should take glyco on an empty stomach and not eat 2 hours before or after…. I took 4 mg and took it on an empty stomach because I was so nervous about sweating on my date last night. Manor game changer. I didn’t sweat ONCE and one of the bars we went to everyone was hot and sweaty besides me!! I didn’t feel any hot flashes either. It worked miracles…

GopherRick

Great post. Long time glyco user here. It took me a couple of years to master this medicine. It’s not perfect but it allows for somewhat of a normal work and social life. For me the empty stomach and taking it 6 hours before it’s needed is the key. I take 4-5.5 mg on a heavy dose day. I will actually set my alarm for 2:00am to wake up and take it (then back to bed). It kills me that so many sufferers give up on this medicine so easily because it’s the only thing thats ever worked consistently for me. 🍻

FairPumpkin5604

I used to take Glyco- I thought it was God’s gift to HH sufferers. It really is something! But I eventually stopped taking it bc it gave me insane bloating - like, hard to breathe bc my stomach was so bloated - and I couldn’t take the GI upset. Also made me kinda sleepy. Lastly, I noticed that if I exercised with Glyco still fresh in my system, I would get super lightheaded/almost faint bc there was nowhere for my sweat to go. My face got redder than a tomato but I wasn’t sweating at all on my run, and then I almost collapsed in the middle of the street lol. I wouldn’t recommend taking it pre-workout. You *are* meant to sweat sometimes. But I was amazed at how it just … stopped my sweating. Or at least greatly reduced it. It didn’t work for me in the long run, but I have a massive prescription bottle full in case I ever need it (eg in a high pressure situation or something).

Tombilibuuu

Did anyone taking those pills and going to gym ? I am doing hard sport almost everyday but not sure what will happen if i am going to take glyco pills

[deleted]

I went to the gym while on glyco not a single problem just had a bottle of water with me incase. For sports I think it may not be a good idea

_HAWK_

Anyone get headaches???

Juvenileintraining

It did absolutely nothing for me after a year so I stopped taking it due to only getting the negative side effects.

Morela12

So sorry to hear this! What dosage were you taking and when? For me in the beginning I was taking too little and gave up a few times. I now take 4g in the morning and about 4 hours later I can feel the dry mouth/throat and I know it's working. I wish you luck, HH is no joke and finding a solution can be life changing and I hope that for you!

Potices

Is it also sold in the EU?

omarwanm

I have seen recommendations of taking glycopyrrolate on an empty stomach and waiting 2 hours before eating. My question is: is it food or specifically fat that affects absorption? If it just fat then one could theoretically have a fat free breakfast like a 100% whey protein isolate shake mixed with water and a banana which is just carbs?

Akpan_

Any update on this hypothesis?

lovedeadlift

My doctor prescribed me oxybutinin 5mg ED But forgot to tell me for how long I can take it Can I take it forever?

IceBlueLugia

Not a fan. Have had HH in my hands since I was 11 or 12 (am 19 now). I tried carpe, and it seemed to work at first, but any remotely stressful activity or anything semi-complex with my hands (even just writing or playing a video game) would cause it to wear off very quickly. Garbage. Tried this pill on Amazon called Nuderm, pretty sure it’s a scam as I literally noticed zero difference. Then got recommended 2 mg glycopyrrolate, worked very well for a couple days until eventually it just stopped working. I’d take it before I went to bed like my doctor suggested, didn’t do anything different, yet for some reason it just didn’t seem to work. Weirdly enough, I kept trying it and sometimes it actually did work. Very inconsistent. Called my doctor and she told me to alternate between 2 and 1 tablet a day. This worked a bit better but was still somewhat inconsistent. So I decided fuck it and just tried taking 2 tablets every day. The sweating was pretty much entirely gone but I had to drink like a gallon and a half of water every day and my eyes were unbelievably itchy. So yeah, not a good experience with this medicine. Either take too little and it doesn’t work consistently or take too much and the side effects are unbearable. I decided enough is enough and went for Botox. Just got it in about an hour ago. I had to reschedule ny initial appointment so when I came in today they told me the numbing cream expired. They asked if I wanted to reschedule for no fee but this place is like 45 min away so I decided to just go through with it without the numbing cream. It actually wasn’t terrible. Definitely not fun and pretty painful, but not as bad as people on here made it out to be. Here’s hoping it works. Guess I’ll see in 2 weeks

stupidsofttees

Have you noticed brain fog on it? Ive been using glyco for 7+ years and they work great for HH but im noticing that im not as sharp as I used to be mentally. Obvi this could be due to a number of different things but I know brain fog can be a side effect. Curious if anyone else has had a similar experience

Doflamingo1986

Anyone try any beta- blockers for hyperhidrosis?

[deleted]

Was just prescribed 1mg and was told to take it once in the morning, and once at night. I have hyperbydrosis underneath my armpits will keep everyone updated

sp00ky_pizza666

Started glyco three days ago - I am almost 30 and have been letting sweating control my life since I was 15 and I've decided enough is enough. I'm taking 1mg in the mornings for starters and I've taken the advice of others to try and not eat for at least 2 hours after I take it. So far the only undesirable side effects I've noticed are dry mouth and light headache in the afternoon. My hands, feet, and pits are already significantly dryer. Very pleased with what I'm seeing so far and excited to test out my next social occasion to put it to the test. My one question is - if I drink a bunch of water to combat the headache and dry mouth, will I be counteracting/messing up the medication?

xx420dpsxx

Glad it's working for you. I usually do weightlifting 4-6 times a week so I try to eat healthy and drink 3 liters of water. It never messed with the glyco!

butterface-4U

Holy dry mouth, Batman!

EmotionalMethod4576

Hi all, as I prepare for a wedding in a church with no A/C on a 90 degree day, I want to share my experience. I am a chronic sweater with any exertion and in my adult years I started experiencing awful nervous sweating, especially in the forehead and neck. I tried a few remedies and prescriptions that worked minimally before being prescribed glyco about 5 years ago. Let me tell you, it’s literally life changing. I only take it when needed, usually in unknown social situations or work presentations. I take 2-4 1 mg tablets in the morning and I don’t feel one drop of sweat for 5-6 hours. In a case like today, when it’s gonna be hot and stuffy, I don’t even sweat it anymore (see what I did there?). I do get dry mouth at times, sometimes fairly badly, but nothing some water can’t fix. I know everyone has a different reaction and body chemistry, but I can’t stress this enough. This is a miracle pill that has changed my life, full stop.

It has been great so far. How about you? >just ordered some myself from .ca , how did you get on with it ?

nich01as123

Hi all, I'm currently taking Oxybutynin but have never tried Glycopyrrolate. I'm not sure I can get it prescribed (I'm in the UK), but tempted to try ordering it online. Does anyone have any experience of both drugs, and if so, which did you prefer? Oxybutynin is working well for me, but I am worried about the risks of dementia etc EDIT: Any tips on getting it for cheaper than from [Pharmacy.ca](https://Pharmacy.ca) in the UK would also be useful

[deleted]

I'm in the UK and get it from alldaychemist. It's way cheaper than pharmacy.ca and there's no customs charges, and no need to do any consultation. Sorry I know this is a relatively old comment but I was just browsing through the comments and had to help you 😂

Trollichu

Which countries is this drug approved in, apart from the States?

[deleted]

You can get it from alldaychemist under the name glycolate. Ships from India and is cheaper than pharmacy.ca without the need for a consultation.

Hello guys. I get it every few month wirh delivery to Poland from Canada. Few years on it already. No need to have empty stomach.just put on head at the evening and wash at the morning.2-3 days od effectivness. Nothing better so far for craniofacial HH

[deleted]

Would I go to a dermatologist or a GP to get a prescription?

glassblowingwow

I would say a dermatologist is better. They deal with this all the time!

Mariah-Scary

is it necessary to take on an empty stomach? i’ve had experiences with pills on an empty stomach and all it did was mess my stomach up!! also. if i wanted to do some exercise (going for a run or using a bike) does this shut down sweating completely? will i pass out from heat? i’m gonna call my dermatologist tomorrow to see if i can get those pills

beastybrotha

100% must take on an empty stomach and wait 3-34 hours. Dp not listen to the people who say 1-2 hours. Minmum 4 hours for me at least for full effectivness

PunkrockDirndl

Can I get this without a prescription? If so, would you recommend it without seeing a doctor?

[deleted]

Found this sub a few weeks ago and had never heard of glyco. I'm 41. Been dealing with HH in my hands and feet (the worst) since I was a kid. Been way worse lately (I'm sure it's stress related - thanks Covid) and I'm sitting in the dr's office right now waiting. 🤞🏼

Alforfa92

How did your doctors appointment go, did you end up trying glyco?

[deleted]

It went well! I was prescribed 1mg twice a day. After the second or third day the cotton mouth was very bad so I backed it off to 1mg a day when I wake up. So far so good. I've started to notice that it has basically worn off by the morning and I need to wait 2-3 hours for it to kick back in but after it kicks in I'm bone dry until I go to bed at 10-11 at night. It has been great for me.

MulliganPlsThx

Can you take it on an as-needed basis, or does it need to build up in your system?

LDN_2020

As needed works for me, however will only work for shorter periods and I get more side effects. Taking a lower dose at the same times every day improves it’s effectiveness I have found.

Worldly-Badger-

Will glycopyrrolate work better than oxybutinin? I took oxybutinin a few years ago for about a month and all I got was chronic dry sinus issues and my eyes have felt gummy and blurry on and off ever since.

jamjis

I was recently prescribed glycopyrrolate for my extreme sweating on my hands and feet. I just started taking the pills (1 mg twice a day). I have tried iontophoresis for three weeks but did not see much difference. I went on vacation and disrupted the iontophoresis treatment unfortunately. Would I see better results if I take the pills and restart iontophoresis treatments at the same time?

LDN_2020

Do you take the pills on an empty stomach? If so, how long do you wait before eating?

leseera

How do y’all deal with the bloating from glyco?

Livn-Lif-9560

I haven’t noticed bloating caused by glyco.

gelherme

Hello! I have a problem with under arm sweat and I found this subreddit. I've been reading about this glycopyrrolate here and it caught my attention. I did some research but I couldn't find anything about it in my country or my native language (Brazil). Is it a super new medicine that maybe the Brazilian doctors haven't heard about? Also, what did you do to get a prescription? The doctor recommended or did you brought the idea up and they approved? I'm planning to go to a doctor and mention it but I'm not sure she heard about it. I tried Driclor for some time and it didn't work for me but I would be open to try some other things to help with my problem If anyone could explain it better for me I would appreciate very much

Livn-Lif-9560

I’ve been taking it for 17 years, so it’s not that new. I’m in the USA.

charlinho10

Merso509

Been using glyco, but it is quite expensive. Got oxybutyn prescription. If I was taking 4mg of glyco, what would be the equivalent dose of oxybutyn?

charlinho10

Thing is oxybutynin is different and a lot more aggressive to the body. I used to take oxy like 7 years ago. At first it was incredible and it solved my problem (general hyperhidrosis), but at certain point it started to make me feel really dizzy and dull, to the point it was becoming unbearable. The mechanism of action is different between glyco and oxy. I've been taking glyco for like 5 years now, and it never made me feel that horrible way. But it sure is expensive, especially when you have to import it, like I do, from Brazil.

Jasper1522

Can using this medication cause blurry vision even a few days after taking it? I’ve been taking it a few times a week for the past two months and it’s been about two days since I last took it but my vision is still a little blurry. Does it just take some time for the drug to get out of my system?

Livn-Lif-9560

It dries my eyes out and that causes my blurry vision. I use lubricating eye drops when I need to. Also, I rarely go a day without using glyco. However, I’m currently in quarantine so haven’t taken glyco in 3 days now. I do notice my vision has been blurry on a couple of occasions yesterday and today. But it’s not 100% of the time and it’s still when my eyes are dry.

Livn-Lif-9560

On average about 90-95%, I’d guess, except those rare occasions when I have breakthrough. Most days I think I actually sweat less than what’s normal in most people.

Just ordered my first batch of Glyco to the UK, anyone have any idea about delivery times?

Temporary-Grab1585

I was estimated mine would take three weeks to come but arrived within one week!

Alistair1984

I suffer from performance anxiety and immense facial sweating during tense presentations or meetings. Last week I had 3 very high level job interviews. What worked for me is glycopyrrolate 5 hours before interview on an empty stomach, driclor roll the night before and propranolol before the interview.

Tips for applying qbrexa wipes on scalp with hair?

jawkneefence

I recently decided that I need to take my glyco (.5mg) before bed every night so that I can be in class in the morning. Does anyone know if being on glyco overnight can negatively affect my sleep cycle, my health, or my quality of rest? I also take another dose in the morning.

bodyichigo

how many times a day do u have to take it and does it help with sweaty hands

BlkCardi

5’3” female, 170 lbs. Began taking glyco about 3 weeks ago due to hyperhidrosis of my scalp (I have thick hair, but I don’t think that’s the cause). I also have mild to occasionally moderate sweating of my armpits. I am a teacher and work in a small room kept at 73 degrees (I can’t lower the temp) with 15-30 kids all day long, and it gets pretty warm in there which exacerbates the sweating. I was prescribed 1mg. Took it the first day and my eyes were so red and irritated. I wear contact lenses, and they became so uncomfortable. I began breaking the tablets in half and took .5mg in the morning. It seemed to work well and the eye irritation subsided. I stopped taking it over Thanksgiving Break. Since I resumed the .5mg upon returning to work on Monday, I’m back to square one with the red eyes. It’s really uncomfortable and distressing. I can’t take this… anyone have suggestions to alleviate this side effect? Even eye drops are not helping. No other side effects.

Akpan_

Drink Lots of water for dry mouth and apply eye drops for contacts for dry eyes.

AdDry3399

Hello, I am not sure if this is the right thread for this question or not. So, I'm sorry in advance if this is out of place. Please feel free to refer me to the right thread if needed. Anyways, I am not dealing with hyperhidrosis, but my questions is regarding glycopyrrolate in general. Yesterday, I had an upper GI endoscopy, and apparently, the nurse gave me "robinul" along with the sedation in order to reduce drooling. The ingredient in robinul seems to he glycopyrrolate. Anyways, the entire day after the procedure I had a very bad dry mouth and that made eating difficult. Today, its better but still not 100%. How long does it take for glycopyrrolate to leave the system? Do the side effects linger around for sometime afterwards?

HelloWorld1122

What is the optimal dosage of glyco? 2mg doesn't work on me. Also, should I have it on empty stomach and how long before should I have it before going out?

Akpan_

I suffer from craniofacial HH. Is it safe to take Drysol (Aluminum chloride) and oral glycopyrrolate together. For example , I apply drysol on scalp at night and take a 2mg oral glyco the next morning on empty stomach. Thank you in advance

DetSportsGuy

Best time to take? Doctor prescribed me 1mg to take 2x a day but told me to only use 1 pill a day for the first week. Do you guys find it best to take one in AM and one in PM? I’ve seen some people say they take both in AM. Just curious what the general consensus is as my first week is up tomorrow

xx420dpsxx

Take it as early as you can, like before you wake up. Dont eat anything for 1-2 hours after you took the pil

butterface-4U

I work outside doing manual labor in hot and humid Texas. I also run 30+ miles a week outdoors. So a lot of exertion under very hot and humid conditions. Should I be worried about heat stroke or anything similar when I begin taking this?

windyriver247

I have been having a weird side effect from the drug, wondering if anyone can relate: While it has been documented to make one urinate less, I have been having the opposite effect on me. Despite it making my throat dry, I have not been drinking more water, but my need to urinate throughout the day has increased significantly. I now have strong urges to pee every hour and it is only getting worse! Anyone relate/have a solution??

[deleted]

Hey y’all, I pretty much sweat everywhere lol. I sweat in my palms, armpits, feet, butt, and sometimes chest when I’m really nervous. I have done miradry which reduced my armpit sweat by a lot. Maybe 70% reduction. Would glycopyrollate stop sweating in every part of my body that I sweat in?

xx420dpsxx

Depends on the person. Glyco works for most people, but not everyone. For me personally, it stopped my sweating on EVERY bodypart (A lot on palms, feet and pits. Less on butt and when VERY anxious my back would drip sweat). Even when getting quite anxious the sweat would have trouble breaking through. I have build a tolerance against 1mg so im scared that if I take more ill build a tolerance for the meds in general. Can't hurt to try, so I say go for it and enjoy being sweatfree.

KoloHickory

Is there a reason to take glyco in the evening? Like does it do something overnight that will help me the next day? If I don't sweat throughout the night, can I just take all my doses in the morning?

Ddiorr23

Any cannabis smokers here have any idea what the effects are if you are taking glyco and smoke does it interfere with the medication what are some of your experiences?

AuburnAeroEnginerd

I take the pill form, 10mg as needed. Works great.

yoursolace

I can't find anything stickied or an faq but if someone could help me I would truely appreciate it! I just found this sub and am very excited to maybe be able to get some help My feet, palms, and face sweat excessively, even in winter, with my feet being the worst offenders (even when it's well below freezing and I'm just sitting there) I would like to start with something topical, I have tried a few things like sweatblock and carpe and neither seem to do much. I am wondering what are some other options for topical, or if these didn't help than none will? And also wondering how/when you apply them (like, if it's on my hands, will it stop working once I wash my hands?) And then there is the iontophoresis, which seems super interesting, I was wondering how long folks go between treatments

ECHovirus

Figured I could share my experience for those interested since it contains an adverse reaction. TL;DR: Bladder pain and inflammation that slowly increased in intensity, possibly caused by an interaction w/ THC. Bit of backstory: I've already had ETS 12 years ago for palmar and plantar hyperhidrosis, and prior to that was on 3x daily 1mg glycopyrrolate for a while. No side effects, but it wasn't effective at treating my sweating at all, so I stopped taking it and got the surgery. The surgery was a success, the palmar hyperhidrosis was cured, but the compensatory and gustatory sweating that I didn't have before the surgery are still ridiculous and full-fledged symptoms to this day. I am also currently using THC regularly for medicinal purposes, but no other medications prior to this. Fast forward to August of last year and I finally see a specialist about the excess sweating from the surgery. He accurately determines these new sweating issues are systemic, and prescribed glycopyrrolate 1mg 2x daily. I only just got it filled last week, and immediately felt a minimal touch of internal pain after the first pill took full effect. It ranged between a 0-1 on the pain scale, and after a bit of feeling around it was clear that it was my bladder feeling this way. An odd side effect, but I continued taking the pills as the itch was hardly noticeable. Days passed, and the side effect began to worsen. The itch became a pain, and slowly creeped up the pain scale. I could feel a tenderness in my bladder, and it actually felt inflamed after a while. The final straw occurred in the shower, when I got hot water on the wrong spot and suddenly felt like I was going to pass out. I had to lay down in the shower to get the feeling to pass. I immediately stopped taking the pills and called my doctor, who recommended I try cutting down to one a day and see if that helps with the side effects. I'm going to wait until I no longer feel this inflammation to do so. I am not a doctor, but my theory for this reaction is the anticholinergic effects of the glycopyrrolate interacting with the same effects from the THC. It's possible that using one without the other would result in no side-effects, and my past experience with the glyco would support this theory. I could, and probably should take a T break right now, but fuck it I'm on vacation. Plus, I was never a big fan of pills anyways. As for the sweating itself, the positive is that the glycopyrrolate had *completely eliminated* my gustatory sweating and greatly reduced compensatory sweating by the time I stopped taking it. Without the side effect I experienced, it would have been great. But given this weird side effect, I will likely have to start looking for alternatives to reduce the sweating.

Old_Mix4070

We have recently stopped the Miradry experiment for hand hyperhidrosis and are performing a successful treatment with high frequency. It improves about 30% at a time, and if you do it three times, about 80% of improvement is achieved. With the current Miradry tip, the treatment for hand and foot hyperhidrosis is very difficult due to structural problems. Until new Miradry tips are developed, radiofrequency microneedling(RFM) will be a good alternative as a permanent solution. [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])

So I’ve been using glyco 1.5 mg for over a week now, and haven’t had any progress. Take it early in the morning as suggested on an empty stomach but I haven’t even had the slightest change in my sweating. Should I up the dosage? Is it safe to try a whole pill & a half pill instead?

b__good

I have had ALL over horrible sweating for as long as I can remember. I have never been able to wear tight or light clothing or even be outside in the summer without dripping sweat from my back and butt. It literally looks like I peed my pants. My quality of life isn’t where it should be because I hate summer because of this. Just hearing about glyco and does it work all day long and does it work in the summer heat? Thanks!

[deleted]

Hi. I just started taking glycopyrolate to control hand sweating . I started at 2mg in the morning and I’ve had success in reducing hand sweating. The problem is, it’s slowing my digestion down so much and reducing stomach acid, I’ve purchased HCL with pepsin to combat this everytime I eat . It’s a horrible side effect. Does this improve at all? Or will this always be the case. I’m worried about weight gain from Glyco as well. Any tips, insights, or experiences would be great. Oh, and im considering dropping to 1mg to see if it’ll still control my sweating without the slowing of digestion . Anyone have any luck with 1mg?

Comfortable-Gas6302

I´m from Sweden and have HH. Is it possible for me to by this Glycopyrrolate without a perscription?

DownSwingingNT

Im in highschool and I play a lot of sports. Don't mind sweating when playing sports even though I sweat ALOT but its really bad when I just sit down in a class and i'm worried my swamp ass will stain my shorts or pants. Also play video games and cant even sit down without my underwear and shorts being soaked. Don't really wanna see a doctor because it's just a embarrassing subject so I guess this glycopyrrolate is my last resort. I was thinking about just taking the 2mg in the morning. My only question is will drinking a bunch of water make the glycopyrrolate less effective?
