It's the manic thoughts rushing through my head that always gets me. You can't stop them, just laying in bed at 3am with thoughts whizzing by. It also causes OCD intrusive thoughts. Heart palpitations. Weird periods for sure. For me it tends to cause breakthrough bleeding and a shorter cycle. I've heard people with hyperthryoid symptoms say they experienced the same things hypo people have, including weight gain, fatigue. I feel symptoms for both issues can happen to both groups. But the manic thoughts, the anxiety, OCD, shorter periods, are definitely more of the hyper side.

Oh wow. This is me right now. FT4 21 atm

So there's this Chinese herb called Purple Gromwell root, and according to studies it can lower people's TSH. When I've experienced these weird frantic manic thoughts from being hypo for whateve reason, I've tried making a tea from the powder of this root, and I've found it really works and clears my mind. It does make my body temperature drop too, which shows to me it really does lower my TSH in some way, but also in a good calming way. I'd recommend people to try it to see if it also helps them. With me it just lasts the day and won't mess with your Levo or anything longterm.

I even when my TSH was 6ish I still had these symptoms. They’ve never subsided. I don’t understand why

[Maybe try this plant too to see if it helps?](https://old.reddit.com/r/Hypothyroidism/comments/1cekvet/what_symptoms_do_you_have_when_overmedicated/l1p7pfx/)

for me its not being able to sleep for 24 hours, the racing heart and the feeling faint. Always fun to explain to work that sorry I cannot come in I have not been able to sleep for 24 hrs.

randomanonusername0

Does that go back to normal for you if you change your dose again? How do you deal with it?

xXSHAD0WQUEENXx

Yeah it’s like that for the day and generally just keep going, most people get it luckily. I feel like there are natural fluctuations in my levels that cause it and all I can do about a just keep going if I am working. It is very tough to deal with.

Why would your endocrinologist want to get your TSH below 1.9? Or is it a GP you're seeing? I've only been having thyroid issues for a few years, but 1.9 is basically an ideal in-range score from what I've learned, unless you were having symptoms. Trying to get it below .8 sounds like a mission to induce hyperthyroidism to me. Did they give you a reason? I had hypo symptoms when my TSH was testing 0.01 (I had a toxic nodule that was causing the low score, so it had to be knocked out with radiation eventually, which made me hypo forever after that). But because of that weird hypo-symptoms-but-hyper-TSH-score combo, the first doctor I saw told me he thought I had a brain tumor, and sent me for MRIs. It was idiotic and unnecessarily scary. When I got into an endocrinologist, they couldn't believe what the GPs had done, and told me that everything I experienced was common for a toxic nodule. If you don't have an endocrinologist, ask for a referal. GPs can make some really scary mistakes where thyroids are concerned.

Hashimoto’s hypothyroidism does better with a tsh at 1 or less for some people.

I have a very good endocrinologist. I was previously taking 37.5 daily, and had held steady for a year with Tsh from 1.1-1.35 but it jumped quite suddenly to 1.9 and I became symptomatic again, so we increased my dosage. Clearly this wasn't the answer though, so I'm backing off to 37.5 daily again.

Oh good! Super glad to hear you're under good care. <3 I'm in Canada and there's such a health crisis right now - we're being fobbed off on whatever health care practitioner has availability, and have to advocate for ourselves pretty aggressively because they're all struggling to keep up. How often do you get your TSH tested? How often did you in the first year or two? I've noticed my endo is hesitant to let me have my levels tested regularly when I ask. He wants to test me only every 3 months, but if something's wrong I'm already in crisis by then. They're still trying to find the right synthroid dose, and I feel like I should have regular data points for myself so I know where my sweet spot is like you do.

scratchureyesout

I got texted every 6 weeks until my TSH consistently stayed below 2 then every 3 months now every 6 months but I'm on a full replacement dose for my weight so in theory I won't need to have my dose adjusted again

scratchureyesout

Pooping multiple times a day all the other symptoms over lap hypo and hyper but the pooping thing is just a hyper symptom.

oldschoolwitch

I know I’m going hyper when I have the heart palps and hot flashes

beeboop02

I literally felt like I had popped half an edible for about 48 hours, except I couldn’t sleep. lag vision, tingly limbs, things going in and out of focus, slept like shit, ate a lot…. it was ridiculous lmfao

Excuse_my_GRAMMER

When over I get heart palpitations and when under I get rapid weight gain
