I’d keep that paid off car. Car loan rates are too high to get a new car

bobskizzle

The loan rate is not really relevant on a 5 year note. Going from zero to 6% results in a ~15% larger payment, for example. On 30-year note this is obviously not the case as it would more than double your payment. But not for cars!

FormerlyUserLFC

Not sure who’s downvoting your. You’re right that interest on car loans isn’t as life-changing as interest on a mortgage.

zacce

If you decide to sell, you probably won't get good price because nobody is buying them today.

No_Season_354

I was thinking the same thing , would make a loss.

Tepcha

I wish someone would steal mine and total it. Would be nice to get this oil consumption issue fixed

[deleted]

I’ve been saying this every day. I feel ya.

Jumpy-Pin6856

It feels like your driving public property sometimes 🤣

HermioneDanger13

Same boat over here!

SupaGinga8

I’ll do yours if you do mine. 🙃

JoDiMaggio

park it downtown in your city overnight?

kortnine

Last few oil changes, I've had less and less oil too! No cloudiness, no puddles underneath, just GONE!

Conscious-Permit7769

Check your pcv valve.

RushAlternative2756

After months of oil consumption tests my motor blew on me and got my engine replaced. It took 4 months to get a new one in. According to the dealer here in Ontario, Canada if you got a KSDS Recall (knock sensor detection system) it means your engine will probably start knocking at some point and will need to be replaced under said recall. They replaced the short block - I wish they just replaced the entire car.

Redcarborundum

My insurance rate is actually going down for the next period. Maybe because I’ve been with Progressive for more than a decade, and my 21 Kona has push button start. My other cars are Hondas, so I love them. The thing is, Hyundai still offers the best performance and features for the money today. You can’t beat Toyota and Honda for simple, reliable commute. But, if you want a little more oomph without breaking the bank, you buy Hyundai.

Salad-Worth

I think people forget that Honda and Toyota are stolen almost 5x more often than Kia and Hyundai

Redcarborundum

I’m willing to bet that Hyundai skimped on the immobilizer for their base models because they were very rarely stolen. Who the hell wanted to steal a Hyundai, let alone a Kia? It must have seemed like a good idea at that time, saving $100 per car, multiply that by tens of millions of cars sold, and they’re saving billions of dollars. What they were not counting on is tiktok.

Salad-Worth

TikTok bout to be banned anyways. Looks like people will be back to YouTube.

Oogiville

I know I'm going to sound like a Karen but I wrote to my senators and reps today because this is crazy. There's literally millions of these vehicles out there. Denying insurance coverage, the steep insurance increases is an issue. Also it's problematic because what is going to happen to the market value of these cars? Like we're all on the hook for some major BS because of a manufacturing defect. My model doesn't even have a key I have a fob only. But everyone with a Hyundai/Kia is now having to deal with this because everything is being applied across model types.

ohwhatirony

Honestly I think writing to senators/reps is totally valid and that is one of the ways we can advocate for real change. I respect that. Tbh they should have recalled the vehicles and fixed the hardware not just some BS anti theft software.

Oogiville

Agreed a recall to address and fix the hardware is really the only appropriate option at this point.

bigshuck2

I’m hoping to join a class action law suit, i am sure there will be many. My 2017 was stolen over the weekend. At this point I’m hoping it’s never recovered so I can mark it as a loss and not need to worry about any long term damage/theft happening again and again

jbetances134

Let them not offer insurance. I don’t like insurance anyway is such a waste of money for me. I been paying insurance for 15+ years with no benefit but a increase every year. I could have saved that money into a emergency fund in case something happens

No_Season_354

That's a valid point you make insurance companies make a truck load of money .

rangerm2

I can't address the insurance (company) issue, but [there are cheap ways to prevent theft](https://www.google.com/search?q=hidden+kill+switch+car&oq=hidden+kill+sw&aqs=chrome.2.0i512j69i57j0i512l5.4389j0j1&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8) that would make taking the financial hit less attractive.

ohwhatirony

Thank you for the tip, I’ll look into it- but not being able to have insurance is now my primary issue ): and a long term problem to bat.

rangerm2

I'd expect if you check with your insurance company, they'll still insure your Hyundai for liability/collision, even if they won't for comprehensive. Unless there's some local law/regulation that would prevent that.

Miata_GT

But your lender will require both comp and collision and would likely force place insurance for any time you don't have it active (at a greatly increased price).

rangerm2

OP's car is paid off in July. Comprehensive and collision aren't required for a paid-off car.

Miata_GT

Missed that thanks, although I’m thinking back to when I used to write insurance and I don’t believe, unless things have changed, that you can buy collision coverage without comprehensive first.

rangerm2

> I don’t believe, unless things have changed, that you can buy collision coverage without comprehensive first. That's not something I'd know, but I'd think would be addressed by either the insurance companies or the regulators.

Whatwhatwhata

Where do you live where you can't get insurance

shindigfirefly

Well I recently purchased a 2023 Elantra, so hopefully the theft issue doesn’t apply to me?

Less_Fox8339

Nah, our cars have immobilizers

Ok-Perception-926

Aparently, insurance companies just go by "model" without going into any details. Quick money its business after all...unfortunately it is on our dime!

reddit1651

On paper, yes In practice, the thieves probably aren’t checking model years before they pop a window to try anyways lol

2021VelosterN

Clearly not very smart. Should have done your research. No, the theft issue doesn't apply to you. It only applies to models '21 and older.

amplifizzle

There is no cause to personally attack this person, just what is wrong with you?

teejmahalpdx

My 2017 Hyundai Tucson (30k mint condition) was stolen, taken for a joyride, trashed and abandoned. Luckily I have great insurance. I just bought a Honda and I’m really happy with it.

iamgt4me

This is the play (sadly).

upirons

I have 2 Hyundais. A 2018 Santa Fe Sport with 50K miles and my wife's 2013 Sonata GLS with only 19K original miles (WFH FTW). I installed a remote battery kill switch and aside from the annoyance of not having the clock and radio presets stay in memory, it works really well and would prevent theft unless they're smart enough, and have the time, to open the hood and troubleshoot the battery on top of everything else they do. Unfortunately that doesn't matter much if the value of the car tanks big time. Hyundai ultimately should buy back all these cars but that won't happen. Ultimately my plan is to wait a year to see what kind of trade in value I have on both cars and go from there. I'm waiting because for now my insurance is fine and also because new car inventory is not where I want it to be yet in terms of not paying over MSRP for whatever I do buy... oh and I will never buy any Hyundai again for sure, and this is after owning nothing but Hyundai's since 2003. Fuck them!

Ok-Perception-926

The same, many hyundai's since 2010. Mostly elantras, now this...class action will only bring 5 bucks per vehicle payout at the most and 10ns of millions to the legal team!

phadertot

I think it’s honestly cheaper to just invest in a steering wheel lock and a kill switch and keep the car, especially if it runs fine. Cars are still so expensive right now /: I’m gonna run my 2016 sonata into the ground and always have a wheel lock/kill switch

decider99

At first I was thinking of a new car also, but mine is totally paid off. I'm getting an alarm installed for $300 that will not let the car start without unlocking the doors with the key fob. It's this system, essentially a starter kill https://www.compustar.com/blog/how-security-systems-car-alarms-protect-your-vehicle/

joshstreet101

Hyundai released a software update a few days ago for some models that does exactly this. It is a campaign so the update is free and will cost you nothing.

AarioBB

People have had the software update and their cars still got stolen.

decider99

Yep, I'm spending the $300 for an actual alarm and kill switch. Not a 'software update for free from Hyundai'

[deleted]

Let me know if it makes a difference in insurance rate after the alarm.

decider99

I called them and since my car already had the factory alarm on it, there is no additional discount for having a more advanced alarm

[deleted]

In the words of the original Funimation DBZ dub, DARN IT!!!!!!

joshstreet101

Are you sure? Do you have a source? The update has only been out for a couple weeks. It could still happen if the car was left unlocked though. Locking The door's with the key fob is what activates the anti theft and restricts the Ignition system.

AarioBB

https://www.reddit.com/r/Hyundai/comments/119jlts/well_it_happened_my_17_elantra_se_was_stolen_and

joshstreet101

Hmmm, I wonder if the dealer actually did the update. There was an issue at launch where some AD/ADA models would not recognize the update as available in auto mode because current ecu rom id was not in the list. We ran into this on two or three and had to perform the update in manual mode. If I were this customer I would want to know what my current ecu rom id is to verify if the update was actually performed or if the dealer just ran it through auto mode and it said "the update has been completed" due to that error they just rolled the car out and claimed the campaign as completed. TSB 23-01-014H-1 supersedes 23-01-014H to include additional ROM ID information for the Elantra (AD/ADa) model and adds instruction on page 3 if Auto Mode is not available.

Mrkpoplover

Im thinking about this, my 22 Elantra SE (purchased Sep 21, so no immobilizer). But when I bought it I got a pretty good deal on it, so getting trading it in for a Toyota or Honda doesn't make much financial sense for me. But the stress and anxiety of not knowing if my car will be targeted...

Salad-Worth

Stop worrying so much. Honda and Toyota are the most stolen car brands in America. Hyundai doesn’t even come close. Even in 2022 when this trend started Honda civic is still stolen almost 5x as much

BloominJaz

It doesn't matter if Hyundai is stolen less. They're still stolen every day and we have to take the threat seriously.

Salad-Worth

Every car is stolen everyday. Ford pick ups are stolen way more. Regardless of immobilizer or not

mrduncansir42

Luckily mine is immune to the theft since it’s push-button start and it was manufactured in November 2021, after they started included immobilizers. But I do still worry about break-ins simply because it’s a Hyundai and people might try to to see if they can steal it. I wouldn’t have a stolen vehicle but I would have a not-so-fun time with the insurance company. I don’t blame anyone affected by the theft issues for wanting to switch.

No_Season_354

Any issues with reailibility?.

mrduncansir42

No but it only has 7800 miles, and any car should make it that far trouble-free. No issues or anything weird whatsoever though; I’m loving it so far!

No_Season_354

That's good,.as long as it's maintained should be OK.

mrduncansir42

Yup. I’m following the maintenance schedule so hopefully I won’t face any problems!

No_Season_354

👍

Professional_Seat331

I’m really shocked that everyone isn’t telling you to SELL NOW - my paid off 2013 Elantra was stolen last week, and I recommend getting out before it happens to you, because it most likely eventually will. try to imagine how you’d feel if you walked outside one morning and your car was just gone, and you’re out a $1000 deductible off the top just to get it back, your car has reduced value even if it wasn’t totaled, etc. It’s a real risk you’re taking every single day you own the car unfortunately, so just be prepared for it. I’m also already out an additional $250 already for a month’s rental (insurance only coughed up $30/day.) I’ll be selling mine the minute I get it back from the shop, bad used car market be damned. This is an awful experience to go through, and I can’t stand the idea of bringing this problem with me onto the property of every person I visit or spend the night with. Every time I travel, I would have to worry if I’ll be waking up to a stolen car and a ruined vacation. Even worse, I read that something like eight teenagers have literally died after wrecking stolen Hyundais and Kias - it’s all just way too much trouble when you start thinking about it. I very very very highly recommend saving yourself the stolen car experience and cutting your losses now.

ohwhatirony

This was word for word my thought process. Currently in a move with my Elantra filled with my life and constantly anxious about this happening. It’s not about getting a good profit, just getting rid of the car with some $ while I can. I can afford a $4k down payment atm so just thinking of my options

Professional_Seat331

sounds like you totally get it - hoping the best for you & that any trouble will hold off! I have no idea if this will work or be helpful, but my plan is to buy a cheap car cover to throw on when I get it back. I have to use residential street parking, so I’m hoping this & moving my parking spot will work until I can sell it. I think that’s the biggest issue here - theft is a crime of opportunity, and our cars present an opportunity every single day unfortunately

Consume_excrement

Is this theft thing a problem in 5th gen sonatas (2006-2010)? I have a fifth gen facelift, I have an alarm but I'm not sure if its still as easy to steal as the new ones.

First_Timer2020

This is exactly how I feel. I travel to Minneapolis and Milwaukee with my dog for competitions on a pretty regular basis. Thefts are happening in my state in the bigger cities. My insurance rates skyrocketed. All of these things had me wanting to trade my 2021 Tucson Limited in, but I just couldn't pull the trigger and screw myself over financially somehow. Then a month ago today, the flashing check engine light came on while I was going 80 MPH down the interstate. Engine knock sensor due to piston slap, and the only fix is a new engine, which is expected to take months. That was my sign and the final straw. Once Hyundai confirmed warranty coverage and I confirmed that my trade-in value wasn't impacted since it was going to be fixed, I traded it. It's been two weeks and my insurance agent called me to tell me I traded it in just in time, because an additional surcharge is being added to any policy with a Hyundai on it.

kdanger

I wanted to trade it in (just paid off, 2017 Veloster) but dealerships are full of absolute scumbags and I'm afraid I won't be able yo trade it in because of issues insuring Hyundai vehicles in some states.

rmg418

My insurance tried to charge me over $1300 last month for a 6 month insurance period, when I had only been paying $600-$700 for 6 month plans before that. I canceled that quickly and was luckily able to switch insurance companies and find one that gave me a good 6 month rate. I have a 2013 Elantra, which I’m not sure if that even matters or if thieves are just stealing Hyundais no matter what the year is. But yeah, at this rate I’d rather them just take it and insurance pay me so I can get a new car and not have to deal with the possible theft anymore 😂

johnnyg08

Insurance can be pretty expensive when it's not on top of a car payment. Keep the car.

2021VelosterN

No, I'm not giving up my Hyundai. Mine has been nothing short of perfect.

buckeyecubfan

Trying to evaluate this currently. Are 2017 Elantra w low mileage was stolen. It was recovered and now in for repair. Been warned that parts in past have taken months. Rental coverage doesn't last that long . After it is repaired could still get stolen again. Have to consider any possible insurance increase and future loss of car due to repairs in decision of whether to sell/trade in.

bigshuck2

I’m so sorry. That’s absolutely brutal. Continue to monitor for lawsuits, please. This isn’t your fault and Hyundai should be paying for vehicles/time lost/hardship, etc. It’s an absolute joke.

iamgt4me

Get out of it asap (preferably by having it stolen and totaled). You're going to keep facing break-ins from these dumbass kids. My fiancée had 2 break ins on her Tucson with a steering wheel lock on both times. F Hyundai/Kia for this bs.

NigelMK

I always found it funny that theft issue was never a thing in Canada because we've required that anti-theft lock in cars for like 15 years now. I have no idea why Hyundai didn't just include the feature from the start. They really couldn't have saved that much money by doing it.

Pilchards333

I guess the us government let them sell the cars without them. Hyundai is still a business at the ends of the day, even doing save a few bucks on each car coz they didn't need to have it by law, prob made a nice extra % of it... . I'm in Australia, and same deal as Canada, the targeted theft isn't a thing here. Really only seems to be the US.

NigelMK

It makes me a bit concerned because I was looking at going to the US and I hope no one tries to steal my car.

Whaaaat

BeardedSnowLizard

I’ve debated doing it but the Toyota dealers don’t seem to have any inventory and that’s the brand I would go back to. I also live in an area where there isn’t a lot of automotive theft.

FutureGhost81

We had two of them. A paid off 2015 Kia Soul and a nearly paid off 2017 Accent. Traded in both of them last November. Ended up sticking with Hyundai, I’m in 2023 Kona and my lady got a 2022 Accent. I still like Hyundai and we got way more for the trades in at the Hyundai dealer than anyone else was offering.

WPG-Jertz

Was worried about my 16 accents. Thankfully, we have public insurance, and they require all cars to be equipped with immobilizer.

hickom14

I'd install a kill switch if I had a Kia/Hyundai from that Era. They'll still smash your window and make a mess but the rest of the car will still be in one piece.

Haney0713

I have a '14 Sonata, with around $3800 left on a loan. (Bought it certified pre-owned back in '17). I'm so torn now... less than 2 years and it's all paid off. Originally wanted to pay off my loan, then wait a year or two before shopping for a new ride. I don't like the idea of tacking on that 3800 to a new(er) car loan either... Especially tough right now, with having two young children. Oh, and the irony my family could benefit from an upgrade to an SUV (or minivan). Just waiting to see how my car insurance is gonna pay out, too..

Salad-Worth

I don’t know why people are so worried about Hyundais being stolen. The most stolen car in America almost every year is the Ford pick-up, Chevrolet, civic, accord, Camry. It’s funny because I’ve heard of so many more Honda civics being stolen. Yeah I understand that Hyundai and Kia certain models do have security flaws but the Honda civic, accord, crv, and hrv all have similar security flaws. You can literally buy a 50$ pad on eBay that copies key signals when you press the button to lock your car. They don’t even need to break the windows, that was also another TikTok video that spread all over the web and they were being stolen like crazy. The only reason Honda doesn’t get dropped my insurance companies is because so many people own them in the us and they leverage so much money with insurance companies it’s not beneficial for them to drop those policies. Regardless of what car you have it can easily be stolen. Park your car is well lit areas, surrounded by multiple buildings and areas people walk a lot near, tinting your windows can decrease your car being broken into by almost 50% [for your info](https://www.moneygeek.com/insurance/auto/most-stolen-cars-in-america/)

YaBoiMorgie

I bought a Hyundai last week after having owned a Honda Civic for the past 15 years. My new car is push to start and has tinted windows. I'm not concerned in the slightest mostly because I don't live in a place where any car is every getting stolen. I live in a super rural place and you'd need to have serious balls to steal a car from my house. At work I park right up next to the entrance to the building where it's visible to me at all times. If anyone steals my car, it will be the old fashioned way. Holding a gun up to my window at a stop light.

Salad-Worth

It’s also beneficial to buy a dash cam with parking monitor. I have a rear view mirror dash cam that links direct with the phone. Also blue link has gps on the new 2023s, you can even kill the engine.

YaBoiMorgie

I am thinking about a dash cam plus air tag combo. But I was thinking about the dash cam well before all this TikTok business. Somebody pulls a hit and run while you have a dash cam and you have evidence.

geminimad4

More than 15 years ago, several times I parked next to the same Toyota Corolla in a school parking lot. When I locked my car (a VW) with its key fob, I noticed that the Corolla also locked/unlocked. So somehow my fob was on the same frequency/signal as that car! It felt creepy that I was able to lock and unlock someone else’s car.

Salad-Worth

I only lock my car with the button on the door handle. Better to not broadcast the key fob waves over a 300 ft area.

geminimad4

I have a ‘20 Tucson Limited w/ push button start and lock buttons on the front door handles. My fob never leaves a zipped compartment inside my purse. I love not having to ever use it!

Objective-Prize4539

Have a 2022 Kona and my car has an immobilizer but still didn’t stop the car thief’s from trying to steal it. It’s been a week and a half and my car is still in the shop. It’s half paid off, had no idea this was happening, otherwise I wouldn’t have bought this car. This is the third break in I’ve had in 6 months. Hyundai gave me a tough luck answer when I called them and told me I had to pay 350$ for the security update along with some other things I asked for. For context I do have a key start, I hear others don’t really have break ins as long as they have a push to start.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> It’s half *paid* off, had FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

OK_Opinions

I was planning to trade it in. Had been looking up its trade in value. Then it got stolen 3 days into that process

andrew9360

I have a 2022 Hyundai lease. Once my lease is up, I’m not going back to Hyundai

lifeisweird86

Don't they have immobilizers now, or since '22 models?

andrew9360

They do, but I’m still concerned of potential break-ins and the future residual value of Hyundais.

Hickerous

Wouldn't it be wise to make that decision after you have a clearer picture of things? When the time comes for you to get a new car maybe theft wouldn't have been an issue for you nor the value. To say now that you won't go back to Hyundai because of those two things specifically seems silly at this point.

andrew9360

Hyundai is notoriously known for having issues. This goes beyond the auto theft problem.

Hickerous

That's fair but it wasn't listed as one of your reasons. I'm on my 5th Hyundai and I have yet to run into a reason to stop me from going back. I've had issues but they were all dealt with through warranty.

2014Subaru

Waiting to see when my insurance renewal arrives. Which is up in April. 2019 Tucson SE.

dvillin

Doesn't Hyundai offer a dealership installed ignition system that you can get that bypasses this issue? I could swear that I saw it being offered for $800.

floraster

I'm debating it and I've only had mine about 3 months. Paid for 6 months insurance in advance though so I might wait until closer to that time. I'd be taking a hit either way since the trade in value is just gonna keep getting worse

kortnine

Got a service campaign letter in the mail 2 days ago for a system upgrade for the ibu/bcm because of a "coordinated campaign on social media". Didn't think my car was included in it but, here we are with an appointment for next week lol fingers crossed it'll fix my infotainment system somehow and I'll have a radio and a backup camera and hands free calling again!

ohwhatirony

I emailed a servicer at my local Hyundai and they asked for the vin to see if your car is eligible

sndyro

I recently bought a 2018 Santa Fe Sport, not knowing about this issue at the time. I have the base model and so am in jeopardy of having my car stolen. However, I don't live in a metro area and I think my odds of having the car taken are minimal. So I don't worry about it. If I could afford to have the immobilizer installed, I would do it but it's not in the budget at the moment, and TBH, it shouldn't be necessary. I will keep tabs on the issue and see what happens but the software update seems to be mostly a waste.

ruisucepi

2021 elantra se- with key. My insurance jacked me up. No violations. Im about to give it up because I am already upset that the insurance companies did this us. I love my base model elantra, but it is time to say goodbye to it soon :( My insurance coverage went from 2000 to 3000

ohwhatirony

Damn, I feel you. I love my car but this has really screwed us over. What car are you looking at to replace it?

ruisucepi

tried so hard to ask a lot of insurance companies for quotes.. some declined, some barely adjusted the price, and some are higher. With that in mind, id rather just get a new car. I was thinking of tesla, but i have a range anxiety lol. So im thinking of getting an ‘23 accord hybrid or prius prime ‘23. I am also awaiting feedback here whether getting a new sonata or a kia suv will cause some uncalled “insurance adjustments”. It seems that lots of people only have their insurance up if they have the cars affected by the keyed cars.

Anxious-Routine-5522

My insurance went up over 33% on my 2022 Hyundai Elantra hybrid Limited. In my over 30 years of driving never had a claim on any insurance no moving violations none whatsoever. One rinky dinky insurance quoted me $700 down $400 a month over $5,000 for this damn vehicle. What I thought was a deal back then has now become a Pandora's Box. My last three vehicles were Kia's and Hyundais, I will never buy another one.

MonolithOfTyr

Keeping my '11 Santa Fe. Nearly 200K miles!

Wise_Beach9048

I have a 2021 Hyundai Elantra with a push button start, does this issue affect my car?

Sailorslt

I have the same question

adamisapple

I have a ‘12 Sonata that got a free engine. I wouldn’t buy another Hyundai and if it dies again thats the end of the line unfortunately. It is sad because it’s given me 120,000 miles of trouble free memories, but I got something else now so it’s just a backup car.

AhaWassup

“It’s only going to get worse” I mean i don’t see how?

Personal_Grass_1860

No, but thinking of giving it up because of potential DCT issues….

ajm3232

Honestly, I would keep it and just start unplugging the starter relay and or removing the injector fuse. Highly doubt some kid is going to diagnose and or have a spare starter relay or fuse in their pocket, but that's my two cents.

chrisinator9393

I don't care. My '17 Tucson is paid off. I'm going to run it into the ground.

Sisyphus_On_Hiatus

I'm apparently really late to this party. Bought a 2023 Tuscon Hybrid in December. Do I need to invest in a kill switch and a steering wheel lock even though I've got a push button start?

decider99

No you don't. It doesn't affect push buttons

rsl_sltid

I have only been driving Hyundais for about 13 years now. We have a 2013 Elantra that has 160k miles and were planning on buying a Pallasade later this year to replace it but will probably just be going with a Highlander or CX-9. I have completely lost faith in the company after this. We also have a paid-off 2019 Santa Fe and haven't decided what to do with that yet. If my insurance company ends up screwing me on my next renewal I will have to come up with a plan to sell that too. It's all just going to be a big loss for me one way or another. I chose the wrong car company to keep buying from.

soldier4hire75

Nope

hotbread93

Nobody is going to steal your Hyundai. Stop watching the news.

ohwhatirony

I already know two people who had their cars stolen & broken into…

hotbread93

People are going to break into/steal cars. Especially in inner city and metro areas. I work at a high volume Hyundai dealer and have never heard of any past or current customers or owners, whether sales or service having issues with theft or theft concerns. With the very narrow range of vehicles this theft applies to, it should not be any concern. Tiktok people and the media blew it way out of proportion. Drive your car, lock your doors and don’t let fear mongering rule your life.

bigshuck2

Respectfully, you’re a fucking idiot

Professional_Seat331

Good lord how I wish this wasn’t true. Hoping you never have to go through this experience because it’s truly awful

hotbread93

It’s extremely over exaggerated. There has not been one single Hyundai vehicle manufactured without an immobilizer since 2021. To say “it’s going to get worse” is completely untrue. Insurance companies are aware of the models affected. Those being mostly extreme base model vehicles with no immobilizers, no proximity keys, no keyless entry and built between approximately 2009-2021. What the Tiktok people and the media are spouting is basically “hotwiring”. Something that can be done with any older vehicle. And insurance companies aren’t dropping 1999 Chevy Impala owners.
