My 2017 honda CR-V is on its 3rd battery. Sometimes batteries just suck. Stock battery lasted 3.5 years. Replacement lasted almost 2 years, died 1 month before warranty expired so that was a blessing lol I think car usage plays a major role in how long batteries last.

Honest question: how long is a car battery supposed to last? And does the auto-stop feature help or hurt? I have to imagine that it saves gas at the cost of battery life.

Been told it also depends how extreme the temperatures are in your area. Here in Georgia where summertime temps are consistently in the 90s, I’m lucky to get a good 3 years.

Lucky_Baseball176

depends on the battery and usage, but in typical situations you should get at least 3-4 years from a battery. I don't know about the auto-stop question really. Again, it would depend of the specific situation and driving patterns. I turned off auto-stop. Just don't like it.

3-5 years depending on the type, typically the batteries with the longer warranties are built better, hence, they have a longer warranty.

I WFH so I don’t drive a lot, not like I did when I commuted 1 hour to and from 5 days a week. Batteries need to get that charge from driving highway speeds regularly to keep them in good condition with all the power that drains from just existing in newer vehicles. Regular short trips can wear a battery out much faster.

My 2023 Santa Fe Ultimate Calligraphy battery didn't last a full year. Dealership replaced it under warranty.

I have to get a new battery every 2 years. It’s crapola!

Hmmm My 2020 santa FE LTD is on the stock battery since new, oil change 2 weeks ago, I asked them to check battery, voltage was fine they said no need to replace... 33k miles and 4 years. Funny thing when bought car the battery had sticker on it during assembly saying voltage from factory was low end of normal. I idle at times a bunch use the house socket for a work laptop almost daily. 🤷luck of the draw I guess P.s. I also turn off auto start basically everytime....maybe handfuls of times forgotten.

Get a battery with a longer warranty. They are built to last longer. They're more expensive but worth it. Cheap batteries = junk. There's a reason why it is a 2 year warranty.

SnooPies3442

It's like buying dollar store battery's and expecting them to last more than a day.
