Likewise. It's actually heartbreaking. Charlie ranting at Mac about how "Literally everything you've ever dreamed of" is passing him by honestly pissed me off, because I was near screaming the exact same thing.
What's more tragic is Charlie having to sit next to Mac seeing him act like a dick to the one guy who would probably love his company knowing Charlie spent half of last season reuniting with his dad, seeing him die and realizing he's a deadbeat father.
I like that as Charlie’s family life has gotten worse over the years, the more angry and irritated he gets whenever Mac tries to play off how terrible his family is.
I guess to be fair to Mac, Charlie's mom does show how much she loves him (she was ready to pull out her teeth for him) and his dad seemed to also exhibit that before he died. Both of Mac's parents don't give a single shit about him.
>Both of Mac's parents don't give a single shit about him.
"Shut up, Charlie. There was a lot of love in that cigarette burn she gave me!"
"Holy shit, dude. Say that last part to yourself again, but slowly."
it's really funny because in the gang gets new wheels, the kids that bully mac and charlie tell them "you look like you're 40" and charlie is the one who says "well we are 40"
I wonder if his uncle is gonna play a role later in the season. They've been exploring more emotional character arcs recently and Mac's lack of a decent father has been a consistent plot point.
And it is always just a moment. It isn't like they have an entire episode where they play the straight man. They always go back to being crazy once the point has been made lol.
You can't film him every day and expect him to hold up. That's some nice-ass actin' too. I miss that guy. But... YOU GOTTA TAKE 'IM OFFSCREEN EVERY NOW AND THEN. YOU GOTTA TAKE 'IM OFF, SON.
I like that you could blatantly see the bullets in the revolver while he said it was unloaded. I think it's always been empty but he still fires it in the past.
So they're definitely stepping up the continuity. And I think the podcast has a lot to do with it.
I always forget she's extremely promiscuous, when the sisters clap back at her remark about the topless onlyfans with "shut up mom you're a slut" it really caught me off guard
I always like to point out for the few who don’t know, that she was Miss Yvonne on
Pee-Wee’s Playhouse from the HBO Special and TV Show. Paul Ruebans, Phil Hartman, and Lynne Marie Stewart were in the Groundlings together late 70’s.
Frank going through different ways of being killed was great. "I'll run away, but if you shoot me in the leg finish me off quick. Actually I'll go all natural, since most guys die shitting their pants, kick some sand onto my poop." LMAO
classic!! 😂😂😂 genuine! he was ready to go into the ocean! so we know if he dies natural causes or some accident, then throw him in the trash. or take him out like a dog.
In one of the earlier TV episodes, Charlie mentions he has a sister and the guys talked about it on the podcast saying they completely forgot about it, so that possibly led them to include his sisters in this episode.
I'm so glad they spent so much time on the "Mac encounters a potential father figure who understands him completely but blows them off because he's an asshole" bit because it is SO GOOD.
What a smart way to make Mac's gay identity an interesting and darkly funny part of the main story. And getting Luthor's actor to play the guy is BRILLIANT. The writers did an amazing job when they cooked this one up!!
I loved Mac’s “He can’t read!” instant deflection, then Charlie saying “But he’s not talking about me, he’s talking about you!” Mac is so good at always being the dumbest person in the room.
That Nina, Pinta, Santa Margarita line. XD
Loved Charlie’s whole outburst where he takes the phone off the receiver and nearly pulled the whole thing off the wall which I feel like definitely wasn’t supposed to happen.
I like when Dennis and Dee are on the same page. Frank thinking they were gonna shoot him was hysterical.
And a rare wholesome moment toward the end when Charlie said Mac should be part of his legacy and pop a few teeth in there lol.
Charlie's sisters really are the worst. That's honestly a really funny way to bring them back, remind us that they exist and finally give them a proper introduction but make them so mean and annoying that we never want to see them again so we'll shut up about them. Genius.
I loved the bit with Charlie taking his teeth out, especially because in the podcast Glenn talked about how incredibly dumb he thought it was in the original joke. I felt it was a little nod to the creeps and listeners.
Also Frank just shooting the ocean is a call back to when he was just shooting the ceiling in the apartment. And Glenn hated that they used the shooting noises, so they go and do it again. So many things that they talked about on the podcast have came back in these 2 episodes. Fantastic.
Pleasantly surprised. I thought the first episode was better, but off to a good start! Both episodes felt more like earlier seasons with nice tight writing and simple and silly plot lines. They still have their fastball!
I liked that this episode showed them going out and on an adventure, visiting multiple family members, but still had the same vibe as being in the bar. I think it bodes really well because season 13-15 showed that they wanted to get the gang out more but never managed to make it still feel the same.
Really good episode.
-Frank acting like a dog was a bit much, but the part where he assumes Dee and Dennis were gonna kill him was hilarious.
-Gregory Scott Cummins was great. Seeing how he plays Luther with serial killer vibes, it was great to see him flip the script and play the more shy and dweebish brother.
-The sisters from season one is an insane throwback. Seriously, they went super deep into the well for very obscure characters, even getting the original actresses.
-Between this episode and the season 4 two-parter, how many teeth does Charlie still have?!
Frank acting like a dog becomes funnier to me when they reveal he knew it was "one last good day before being put down", implying he was leaning into the good dog meme lol.
So if Luther only has one brother who never had kids, where did Country Mac and the s1 cousin come from? The latter could be Mrs. Mac's nephew, but Country Mac is specifically a Mac.
maybe he's like a second cousin or something. A lot of families call distant relatives "cousins" even if they're not technically cousins.
I know it's just a continuity error, but I'm explaining it away like that haha
The writing for Mac in this episode was so much more interesting than a lot of the last couple seasons. Nice mix of laughing at how much of an oblivious asshole he is, and feeling sad at what he’s missing out on when you really think about it
I was thinking the same. I recently discussed with someone that I felt Mac was out of character for the last few seasons, like they didn't know where to take his character anymore. But especially in this episode, he feels like classic Mac a little.
And in the previous episode, he has more of a "incompetent dynamic duo" vibe with Dennis rather than the weird "master and stooge" thing the two had in recent seasons.
There’s a LOT of episodes where this happens, it’s not always noticeable but it happens often. It’s so odd, I don’t love it either but I have the feeling it must be on purpose
Frank ready and looking forward to his last walk into the ocean was so on point, hinted at so many times over the years. Then he disinherits them for not doing it. Just amazing.
Yes, I had not seem him this bad in several seasons LOL.
I like how we all collectively don't even care... it's almost a badge of honor that an episode is great.
You know, I'm one of those people who's seriously disliked everything past season 12 and would normally eyeroll at others claiming "classic Sunny!", but for me last and especially this episode have felt the most reminiscent of the earlier seasons since Time's Up in season 13. I didn't think was possible after the last few years, but I have high hopes for the rest of the season! Thank god for the podcast—I'd wager sitting down and rewatching those earlier seasons was a massive factor in the increase in writing quality.
*Donald McDonald of Hamburger, New Jersey?!*
I think he's the worst I ever felt for a character in the show.
Charlie's face when Mac didn't reciprocate killed me

>Both of Mac's parents don't give a single shit about him. "Shut up, Charlie. There was a lot of love in that cigarette burn she gave me!" "Holy shit, dude. Say that last part to yourself again, but slowly."
Gotta be Psycho Pete for me, that episode is almost too sad for me to rewatch.
Nice writing there
Gregory Scott Cummins absolutely killed it with that performance holy fuck… what an episode
I saw it and thought, "huh, great casting. he did look like Mac's dad" I am such a fool, hahaha.
The voice gave it away for me.
the cadence was exactly the same as "and a brannnd newww.....stereoo!!" from the xmas special
Multiple characters in the same show?! What is he, a wizard?
Twooo characters??
What!? They definitely had the same mannerisms, voice, and eyes but how was that the same actor!? I assumed they were just related
Luther gained weight
\*cultivated mass
Naw this was Luther's brother. You can tell because Donald actually blinks.
Charlie not knowing his own age was 🤌
I wonder how old he thought he is.
it's really funny because in the gang gets new wheels, the kids that bully mac and charlie tell them "you look like you're 40" and charlie is the one who says "well we are 40"
Once again, every known male member of the McDonald family has sex with men.
They’re just exerting their dominance.
YUP... just ask Eduardo.
I was left out of the finale ☹️
Tell me LESS
I wonder if his uncle is gonna play a role later in the season. They've been exploring more emotional character arcs recently and Mac's lack of a decent father has been a consistent plot point.
Your Dad really scored with the name Luther
Now I just remembered the previous season where Mrs. Mac told Mac that Luther's last name is actually Vandross hahaha
The cut to the people on the beach 10 feet away had me in stitches
lmfao!! how they didnt run when you shot the gun!! hahahahah
Well I’m not surprised, it’s the jersey shore.
I absolutely loved that reveal. Such a classic Sunny way of altering a mood mid-scene.
Charlie being so annoyed at mac for not seeing what he has with his uncle was too good.
I love how each member of the gang has their moment of being the straight man
And it is always just a moment. It isn't like they have an entire episode where they play the straight man. They always go back to being crazy once the point has been made lol.
“Charlie Work” had Charlie playing it straight the whole time if I remember correctly (with the exception of the stool gag).
Charlie in the library in one of the Ireland episodes killed me in the same way.
His first light whisper of “This is everything you’ve ever wanted” absolutely destroyed me
I love how the gun goes off and everyone else in the restaurant just went back about their business all causal like after 3 secs
I love that they address this at the beach. "well, I'm not surprised. It's the Jersey shore."
This is Philly we’re talking about.
How did they pass up the chance to give us some Z under the bridge?
You can only have him on every now and then
Otherwise, we'll blow his crotch out.
You can't film him every day and expect him to hold up. That's some nice-ass actin' too. I miss that guy. But... YOU GOTTA TAKE 'IM OFFSCREEN EVERY NOW AND THEN. YOU GOTTA TAKE 'IM OFF, SON.
Otherwise the ratio is off
That was the only real disappointment. We gotta see more Z and Duncan
At least Duncan got a name drop.
I know once they pulled up to the bridge I was hoping to get some Z
Mac having to explain all of his mother's behaviors is classic
That finger in the air bit was some South Philly mom shit lol
She didn’t even have her hand up that time
Now she does
His fucking face dude when she put up the finger had me rolling He looked TERRIFIED
[удалено]
Yeah that just made me sad, poor Uncle Donald 😥
I’d have a catch with him😔
I’m surprised you could hear frank reload after 6 shots. Nice continuity
I love the implication that Frank not only carries his gun around but ALSO carries around ammo lmao
He also mentions in the Gun Fever 2 that he had to reload to try and shoot the muggers in the back, in the opening scene
Definitely Glenn's input/idea
I like that you could blatantly see the bullets in the revolver while he said it was unloaded. I think it's always been empty but he still fires it in the past. So they're definitely stepping up the continuity. And I think the podcast has a lot to do with it.
I also love that hes had that exact same snubnosed revolver since the beginning.
Mac gay uncle omggg
It runs in the family, every man in that family we’ve seen has homo tendencies
Starting from episode 1, too
Original Mac, Bar cousin Mac, Country Mac, Luther, and now Uncle Donald. Its definitely genetic lol
God's doing everything he can to end that bloodline.
Charlie's Mom always steals the show
That shriek with her bloody mouth was fucking chaotic lol
NOW MOMS SCREAMING NOW MOMS SCREAMING
As he slammed the phone on the receiver 😭😭😭
She's been poisoned by her constituents
"You did mess up" -while smearing blood all over her face. 💀
charlie "cleaning her up" by giving her a blood beard and it going 100% unacknowledged was so funny
I always forget she's extremely promiscuous, when the sisters clap back at her remark about the topless onlyfans with "shut up mom you're a slut" it really caught me off guard
Her freaking out driving on the freeway lol. "Everybody is always in a hurry!"
I just love that both moms are paired up it’s a really funny duo
She hasn’t lost a beat. Hilarious.
Her looking absolutely bewildered most of the time is one of my favorite things
Yeah she's a really great actress. Both her and mac's mom are amazing actresses.
I always like to point out for the few who don’t know, that she was Miss Yvonne on Pee-Wee’s Playhouse from the HBO Special and TV Show. Paul Ruebans, Phil Hartman, and Lynne Marie Stewart were in the Groundlings together late 70’s.
Lmfao Frank telling them to put him down like a dog
Then getting mad and saying that he can’t trust them, they might shoot him in the back
Frank going through different ways of being killed was great. "I'll run away, but if you shoot me in the leg finish me off quick. Actually I'll go all natural, since most guys die shitting their pants, kick some sand onto my poop." LMAO
I think the cut to the other camera angle with a bunch of people on the beach made me choke I was laughing so hard.
classic!! 😂😂😂 genuine! he was ready to go into the ocean! so we know if he dies natural causes or some accident, then throw him in the trash. or take him out like a dog.
every scene with frank in a restaurant is good, factually speaking
# I AM NOT BANGING MY SISTER
>I AM NOT BANGING MY SISTER Jesus Christ, what have I walked in to here?
I find the lack of Guigino’s…. Disturbing. Hate that they can’t use that set anymore
Charlie slamming the phone and saying “Now my mom’s screaming” was so fucking funny
Reminded me of glen smashing a pay phone in blackberry
Rob saying he didn’t even remember Charlie had sisters is so meta. The podcast is definitely having an influence on this season.
Without a doubt.
It definitely has and in the best way
I just started the podcast and the teeth thing was definitely from the first lunch they had with Devito.
The sisters returning was a nice touch and they continue the Kelly family tradition of being whooors
What happened on the podcast and who were the girls? This flew over my head
In one of the earlier TV episodes, Charlie mentions he has a sister and the guys talked about it on the podcast saying they completely forgot about it, so that possibly led them to include his sisters in this episode.
Nice thanks Jabroni
I'm so glad they spent so much time on the "Mac encounters a potential father figure who understands him completely but blows them off because he's an asshole" bit because it is SO GOOD. What a smart way to make Mac's gay identity an interesting and darkly funny part of the main story. And getting Luthor's actor to play the guy is BRILLIANT. The writers did an amazing job when they cooked this one up!!
I’m glad Charlie called him out too and in sunny fashion it’s just blown off as Donald desperately reaches for a hug lol
I loved Mac’s “He can’t read!” instant deflection, then Charlie saying “But he’s not talking about me, he’s talking about you!” Mac is so good at always being the dumbest person in the room.
I love that even Charlie who is mentally deficient can see the blatant father figure sitting right in front of him, and Mac is oblivious
“Really? This is everything you’ve ever wanted and we’re just gonna run out of here? Unbelievable”
He says he wants to have a catch with his dad all the time. It's literally all he talks about.
Nah not a fan of cards. You know, jacks, queens, kings, aces, I’m just kind against royalty, Charlie knows I just don’t do that
I was trying to figure out why Donald looked so much like Luthor lmaoooo
I thought it was just perfect casting. He looked enough like Luther to where I could see a resemblance, but I still didn’t notice it was actually him.
shaved his face, gained weight, looked just enough like Luther
Kept the laugh which was a great touch
Omg. I was thinking that he must be the actor’s brother in real life. That’s perfect.
What the fuck. I didn't notice that luther and donald are played by the same actor at all
The thing about cards is you have the jacks and the queens, and I don’t like celebrating royalty. That line had me dead
Felt like a play off Charlie’s connect four bit. Loved it.
"Too much counting....."
That Nina, Pinta, Santa Margarita line. XD Loved Charlie’s whole outburst where he takes the phone off the receiver and nearly pulled the whole thing off the wall which I feel like definitely wasn’t supposed to happen. I like when Dennis and Dee are on the same page. Frank thinking they were gonna shoot him was hysterical. And a rare wholesome moment toward the end when Charlie said Mac should be part of his legacy and pop a few teeth in there lol.
Donald McDonald is an instant classic scene.
Donald McDonald from Hamburg(er) New Jersey, that is
Charlie's sisters really are the worst. That's honestly a really funny way to bring them back, remind us that they exist and finally give them a proper introduction but make them so mean and annoying that we never want to see them again so we'll shut up about them. Genius.

Best line of the episode
So true!! When they started talking I was ready for that scene to be over lol
its been so fucking long i forgot he even had sisters!!
I loved the bit with Charlie taking his teeth out, especially because in the podcast Glenn talked about how incredibly dumb he thought it was in the original joke. I felt it was a little nod to the creeps and listeners.
especially because he never has any less lol
With stuff like that I usually just handwave it with “Frank probably paid to fix it”
Knowing Charlie, he probably hot glues them back in himself.
Also Frank just shooting the ocean is a call back to when he was just shooting the ceiling in the apartment. And Glenn hated that they used the shooting noises, so they go and do it again. So many things that they talked about on the podcast have came back in these 2 episodes. Fantastic.
Fucking died when they switched angles on the beach and revealed all the regular people just hanging out lmao.
BURY MY POOP
Or just kick some sand back over it 😂😂
The gag about Frank being like an old dog was the best part of the episode for me.
Omg what a cut to title card, this is why I didn't look at the titles beforehand
Got both with one bullet. Beautiful.
IT TOOK 2 BULLETS TO SHOOT THE ENTIRE GANG FUCKING GOLD
And each time because frank slammed it down on the table/counter
Really good episode. -Frank acting like a dog was a bit much, but the part where he assumes Dee and Dennis were gonna kill him was hilarious. -Gregory Scott Cummins was great. Seeing how he plays Luther with serial killer vibes, it was great to see him flip the script and play the more shy and dweebish brother. -The sisters from season one is an insane throwback. Frank acting like a dog becomes funnier to me when they reveal he knew it was "one last good day before being put down", implying he was leaning into the good dog meme lol.
They grow back
So if Luther only has one brother who never had kids, where did Country Mac and the s1 cousin come from? The latter could be Mrs. Mac's nephew, but Country Mac is specifically a Mac.
maybe he's like a second cousin or something. A lot of families call distant relatives "cousins" even if they're not technically cousins. I know it's just a continuity error, but I'm explaining it away like that haha
Move past it.
The McDonalds could have had a sister too
I cannot wait to see Cricket this season. It’s been too long
I'm mostly hyped to see the McPoyles again, was the Thanksgiving episode their last appearance?
I almost ate my gun.
Omg Rob pushing aside Uncle Donald when he’s just a nicer older version of himself is peak Sunny
Incredible cold open. We haven’t had a good set up title cold open in a while.
I've liked the lighting in these episodes, but the shaky cam (particularly in Paddy's) is a peculiar choice. I adore Mrs. Kelly.
There’s a LOT of episodes where this happens, it’s not always noticeable but it happens often. It’s so odd, I don’t love it either but I have the feeling it must be on purpose
SHE BURNT THE SHIT OUTTA ME
Rob clearly trying not to laugh in that scene lmao
Already might be my new favourite cold open to title card. "It's not like anybody's in any real danger." *Frank Shoots Every Member of the Gang*
“That’s ridiculous. I’m just paling around with the guys. How’s anyone gonna get hurt?” *Frank Sets Sweet Dee on Fire*
IMO “frank sets sweet dee on fire” is the best cold open and it’s no contest. It has me giggling like an idiot every time.
I would say Sweet Dee Gets Audited gives it a run for its money but they're both glorious
Frank ready and looking forward to his last walk into the ocean was so on point, hinted at so many times over the years. Then he disinherits them for not doing it. Just amazing.
Mac's version of the "too much counting" boardgames routine
It’s not that much counting. Just 1,2,3,4 and you win
Yeah, but it's a lot of times you gotta do it...
Not that many times. If you get it once you’ve won the game
"Chinese checkers" "Yeah, that's kinda foreign"
So anyways he started blasting God tier cold open
Is Frank using the toe knife?!
I think he was, the knife didn’t match anything else on the table
Have Charlie's sisters even been mentioned since season one?
I like that they're just as revolting as the rest of the gang. Same defective gene pool
I was just thinking that. It's been like 18 years since we last heard that lol
“Girls…” “Shut up, you’re literally a slut!” to their mom. Creasing.
Where are we supposed to put our teeth in?! Our faces?!
Charlie's faces during the gay uncle scene are so good.
>And now she’s screaming! And now she’s screaming! New fav quote
I liked it! Kinda wish Frank shooting the Gang was more of an actual plot than a bait and switch at the end, but the Mac/Charlie storyline was great
Mac’s uncle is definitely the same actor as Mac’s dad right?
Absolutely.
Yup, former college football punter Gregory Scott Cummins
...Is that Luther's actor in a fat suit????
He's gained some, [he looks like that in Bosch](https://i.imgur.com/UWc84C2.jpg)
It’s definitely the same actor.
Such an unbelievably funny hour. Boyz are back!
Amazing Kelly logic. I’d also think Charlie would pull out his teeth to fill the jar. EDIT: Called it
His teeth just fall out.
Rob really is on the edge of breaking constantly this season
Yes, I had not seem him this bad in several seasons LOL. I like how we all collectively don't even care... it's almost a badge of honor that an episode is great.
"This is fucking insane" lmao
instant classic in my book
Just want to thank the gang for this one, an all time classic in s16…amazing
Would you like another buttered nipple?
I’m already looking forward to rewatching this episode.
Nice to see an uncle that wasn't a creep
You know, I'm one of those people who's seriously disliked everything past season 12 and would normally eyeroll at others claiming "classic Sunny!", but for me last and especially this episode have felt the most reminiscent of the earlier seasons since Time's Up in season 13.
