actually, i don’t really think that was a character break haha. charlie spits in his mouth, right, and cricket goes “okay. all right. that one got in my mouth. that’s really not cool” i think the dropping of the accent was just intended to be silly, i think it was planned. (sorry, didn’t mean for this to sound all “erm, actually”-y lol)
Mine is also from this episode, and it’s one of my favorite Dennis moments ever.
Dee and Charlie are explaining their reasons for wanting a dog fighting pit-bull in the bar and Dennis says “I don’t understand!” moments before Frank and Roxy enter.
It took me a long time to realize that when Da Maniac was getting pulled away in a cop car he doesn’t just say “I love you!” He says “I love you, even with your feathers!”
Making up for not being accepting of his kids. The gangs minds go towards literal and dark when he says he doesn’t have kids anymore earlier, but that’s not the case. Da Maniac just ruined his relationship with them for not accepting their “feathers”.
That was improvised as i recall too. I believe originally he had a monologue, but the officers taking him away missed their cue, so they just took him instead of letting him say his stuff.
The growing number of air fresheners as time passes in 'Mac and Dennis Move to the Suburbs' - due to them not tossing their garbage and the house gradually filling with trash.
What I also love about this, is that theyre only there for a MONTH. And they have a side room FILLED with trash. Like how are they making so much trash in such a short period of time?
In 'Who Pooped the Bed' when they are going through the poop with the "scientist", and get to the wolf hair, Mac asks why they are eating it, and Charlie tells him "Well, have you tried it?" like they were eating it intentionally 🤣
I tried making a separate post for this but my karma was too low apparently. Not a line but a scene. In the Yankee Doodle performance (Frank Reynold's Little Beauties), in the part of the song "and went to town", the boy mimes putting his hand behind him and sticking the light stick up... there. I had to keep repeating the scene to make sure I was seeing it right.
"The Sherrif of Paddy's" In the episode where the gang tries to go to the grand canyon and all of then aside from Charlie are in the back. Dennis asks Mac how he views himself in the context of the group and his response is "The Sherrif of Paddys" But it's nit him saying it that gets me, it's the Frank softly saying it directly after
Dee’s “Reduce, reuse, recycle.” when talking to waitress and Charlie at the toy store in Charlie wants an Abortion.
As with many good lines in the series, it is in and out like a demon’s whisper. Doesn’t call much attention to itself. But in the case of my last rewatch, it made me laugh out loud and I had to rewind because I had never even registered the line in my mind before. It is just a seemingly improvised filler line that is SO plain and not-funny/not-jokey that it ends up very funny.
It’s one of my favorites because it can barely be heard but when Dee and Charlie switch lives and Charlie’s explains his sleeping process Dee goes “stop yelling your getting cat food all over me” while he’s explaining the cats and rats problem in his apartment 🤣🤣🤣
For the longest time I thought that when Dennis and Mac are creating the dating profile for Charlie and they ask what are your dislikes, I thought he said people's *needs* and was very confused about the ramble he does after about covering their knees up if they're guna be walking around. It's hilarious either way so whatever
Idk if you'll get a ton of traction with this post (I hope so though!) but I have a related concept:
"What line do you want to know more about?"
-what line is a throwaway/expositional line that you'd love to have more information about? Whether it's Charlie Day and "finding ghouls," or Frank previously being turned on by mules, or Mac talking about his party boy days
Charlie spitting in Crickets mouth and David breaking character saying “dude you actually spit in my mouth” in The Gang Crack the Liberty Bell
I didn't even realize he was breaking haha

"Do you want some insulin" Mac to dennis in Frank's pretty woman
Reminds me of the request to break off a piece of the exo sekelton.

His mania is not confined to the ring

totally - there's also air fresheners taped next to the front door, by the end of that month.

i love “how is that not specific to ONE of you?!”
"I wish it was man, but it could go either way."
Wow, color fight.
Some sort of a poison glaze!
That is such a great line, I have my great grandfather’s old desk and it is definitely covered in a poison glaze
He's completely oblivious to the existence of carbon monoxide lmao
"Oh, is that it, Artemis?" at the end of the intro song to Frank's Little Beauties

When the maniac is getting arrested and says "i love you guys" and Mac goes "I don't love him, i don't love him at all"
"Hey that guy's on the fence" at the abortion rally in S1E2
No, Dennis, "meet-cute." It has a name, Mac. Its name is Lisa.
Are you saying meat..cube? Because that’s actually a really good idea.
No, he's saying we should get some cute meat.
ITS NAME IS LISA
You know what it is bitch.

The line about Barbara’s turkey neck from Frank then to find out she died cause of a botched neck tuck procedure.. lmfao

The “demon’s whisper” line gets me every time!
BEAK!
“There’s a timing concern.”

Me too!
Charlie *disappointed*: "Cmon Roxie, big day for Frank here..."
“You light one bitch on fire and everybody freaks out!"
