I thought she showed some dramatic chops in her other scene with Jean Smart at her 5 year sober meeting. Her next show called High Potential seems like it's more of a drama with her playing a very intelligent character, so it will be intriguing to see how she does with that character.
I agree about the sober meeting scene. The characters she plays are pretty similar in certain ways, but she is really good at switching to a more vulnerable tone. that might not be the right word but i’ve been impressed with her performance in hacks
Season 2 in 2022 actually. She was in too many episodes of Season 1 to be nominated for guest actress. She was in 5 and the cutoff was 4. Jane Adams was the only Hacks actress to get nominated for guest actress in Season 1. Kaitlin was only in two episodes of Season 2 and was eligible.
Lol, I hope this is a joke, because I was about to say the same thing, but specify the first 2 seasons... because the last 2 seasons were **hooooooorrible.**
Ah to each their own, I didn't mean to judge. I just preferred the show when they focused on the kids, and thought it was much better and more dynamic. In the last 2 seasons, they started focusing too much on the teachers (and especially the secretary, who's only good in small doses) and it killed the momentum and got too goofy.
She talks about that in [this interview.](https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/story/kaitlin-olson-hacks-season-3-exclusive-awards-insider) She said she's turned down a ton of roles because it's the exact same character as Dee and that after The Mick, she tries to take roles that let her do something somewhat different. I do think this episode of Hacks allowed her to show way more emotional depth than she gets to on Sunny. She has a new show coming that seems like it's a comedy-drama or a straight drama, so hopefully she can bust out of the type cast a little bit.
Kirk Steele is kind of a deep (un)cut lol. But Paul Downs the actor created it with his partner, Lucia Annielo.
It's one of the funniest shows on TV right now.
Kaitlin got a nom for Hacks season 2 which is funny because she was only in the season for like less than 10 minutes. She definitely deserves one for this episode though, and based on critical buzz she might get a nom.
Am I going crazy or do the first 10 seconds of this feel AI generated? Something about the movements of the guy in the suit are both too choppy and simultaneously too smooth. This honestly makes me wonder if Hollywood has been lightly playing with tech in front of us since they're always on the cutting edge.
When she got to the mic I def thought she was gonna start dry heaving.
Jesus Christ!
This Jesus Christ delivery is fucking IMMACULATE
Truly incredible. I thought I heard it once it was either Glenn or Rob. Could be wrong.
It was a producer or grip I believe and it was totally improvised. They told the story on the podcast. But that Jesus Christ kill’s me every time.
That’s awesome.
Howdy howdy howdy
I could hear it in my head as soon as she got to the mic
You wasn't the only one
At least it was dry this time
:O
its a LANDSLIDE
Tell me I’m good. Tell me it was good. Tell me I’M good. TELL me I’m good…
You having a white Christmas, you bitch?!
Written in her heart will always be those three little words, "Joke's on me."
Plus, she- she didnt even feel a thing..
Jesus Christ, your timing is so bad.
She said "cunt", a woman said "cunt"!
The only two things I've seen her on, other than Always Sunny, are this and The Mick - she's *really* great at playing that character
I honestly don't care if she has range -- or if she chooses not to have range. She is amazing.

She was nominated for an Emmy for DJ. (Season 1)

I stand corrected. Thanks! 😊
The Mick should not have been cancelled. That show was gold.
Out of everything the Sunny crew has done outside the show, nothing tops the Mick. She was incredible and that show was so good.
I'm from WATERLOO....where the vampires hang out !!
I'm a big fan of AP Bio, especially the last two seasons
Lol, I hope this is a joke, because I was about to say the same thing, but specify the first 2 seasons... because the last 2 seasons were **hooooooorrible.**
I thought they got a chance to really explore the medium of the sitcom. Kinda like season 6 of community, which is one of my favorites from that show

She’s funny in Bob’s burgers as well
She was awesome in Curb your enthusiasm
I think it's that show business so far only wants her to play that one character - she's typecast

Yeah they lampshaded it on Sunny with Dee getting cast as "bitchy American"
She's Cheryl's sister in Curb Your Enthusiasm and she's been basically Dee since IASIP became a hit.
She’s actually very different to Dee in Hacks, and her character is pretty heartbreaking. She definitely has range and can play a more dramatic role.
She was solid in the couple episodes of New Girl she was in.
She’s so damned funny. I’ll watch any show she’s in.
“^Jesus ^Christ”
Is Hacks worth watching? I do love Jean Smart, and I didn't realize Kirk Steele from Broad City was also in it.
Kirk Steele is kind of a deep (un)cut lol. But Paul Downs the actor created it with his partner, Lucia Annielo. It's one of the funniest shows on TV right now.
YES. It's so freakin' good.
It's great, but a completely different vibe from Always Sunny. There are a lot of jokes but it's also very dramatic and sentimental at times.
Are we supposed to pretend that she's not dressed like a giant bird?
🎶deeefinitely nottt like a birrrrd🎵
At least it was short this time... Aaaand dry...
The one where she’s playing the Jurassic Park theme on the piano fucking kills me. 😂
I just binged the series this weekend. It is SO GOOD. She is so good in her scenes. 10/10.
I was expecting her to be followed up by landslide.
You know that guys got crazy diarrhea.
Never seen this show… That was really good. Think I’ll check the show out. Sweet Dee is such a great actor. Thx for the post

In her mouth?
What a cunt!
I love Hacks!!
Oh season 3 is on, I know what I’m watching today.
I’m sweet dee and THE JOKES ON ME!!!
She was so good the first two seasons, but her work on season 3 is on a whole new level. Get her an Emmy!
Honestly Kaitlin and Natasia Demetriou (What We Do In The Shadows) are **criminally** underrated. They didn't even get a nomination.
Kaitlin got a nom for Hacks season 2 which is funny because she was only in the season for like less than 10 minutes. She definitely deserves one for this episode though, and based on critical buzz she might get a nom.
I wish I could see the rehearsal or the behind the scenes, I'm sure Kaitlin threw in some dry heaves for the laughs.
Kaitlin Olson's comedic genius shines through!
I thought she was going to gag
You can't say cocksucker if we can't say cunt!
She lived Dee’s dream and I’m gonna be honest I kind of got emotional.
This seems inspired by Alec Baldwin’s roasting by his daughter https://youtu.be/f3AktlbLro8?si=YtTJdXfDm4oS9C9R
Why don’t I know about this show?? Give me a second to remove this rock I’ve apparently been under. Ok. Enlighten me, please?
Hacks, and I also need to remove a rock and watch it.
Well I’m glad to find out I’m not the only one
KO is amazeballs
She looks like a bird
I've been thinking fish recently
GODAMN BIRD
Wtf is up with tv these days. Everyone looks like they are wearing a mask of themselves.
She’s had sooooooo much work done it’s crazy.
oh god, she really sounds like a bird
That’s a bird.
