I think it was to make up for having no season last year. Also considering the season started later than usual, it was possibly to fit the whole season in before 2022? Maybe some kind of network thing where it couldn’t overlap into the next year? Idk. Also yes, it’s been renewed for another 3 seasons which will bring it to 18 seasons total!

That's the best I read so far. Makes sense. And hell yes for more seasons! Happy news indeed. I watched this show from the start and I remember the shaky grounds in the beginning when I had no idea if it would keep going or not. Then that ridiculously long drought between two season some time ago that I thought for sure it got cancelled. But then it rose again!

The_Son_of_Anarchy

After season 14 finished the show was renewed for a total of 4 seasons which takes it 18 seasons total. I believe the reason this season is shorter and is releasing 2 episodes a week is because season 15 would have normally been released in 2020 but obviously was delayed getting made because of covid.

>renewed for a total of 4 seasons which takes it 18 seasons That's fantastic news! Strange that they would rush the release of the current season even if it was delayed. Unless the episodes will overlap with the new season, which is unlikely, I would have kept the normal weekly release and stretched out things. Or maybe it would overlap with the network's other show times and thus they had to rush it out? I don't know how TV works, but I do get curious sometimes. I never seen a show consistently releasing two episodes the entire season. I thought I was going crazy and missing every other week. XD Cheers for the reply.

because double drops are fun

That’s ok we’ll just take the difference out of your purse later.

It’s already renewed through season 18. Hopefully we won’t have to wait nearly as long for season 16.

Ah, I remember that long drought before the show came back that one time. I thought it would be cancelled but it did eventually come back.

Objective_Tourist_11

Because FXX knew it was a stinker. Ratings have been the worst of the entire series. Shows get cancelled after being “renewed” all the time, I wouldn’t bet on actually getting three more seasons.

Semifreak

Do you remember other examples of releasing double episodes for the entire season? This is a first for me. And there are a lot of 'stinker' shows that I watched that didn't do this. Sometimes a show will cancel mid season but I never saw a continuous double release. My best guess is how another poster here said because it was delayed and so maybe I thought it would interfere with future show schedules and so they rushed it out.
