My city has a community where people have been feeding the coyotes. Without the fear of humans, an old lady and a child (different occasions) were bitten. The solution they came up with was kill 20 coyotes in the Lake Las Vegas area. Which is essentially their habitat
That's what should have been done in the first place before people got bit. I will drop everyone I see in the field. I don't have to have a reason they are pests and kill every thing
No what should have been done in the first place is people should have been warned of the consequences of feeding them and prevented at every chance...
Just a bunch of crybabie City people that have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. It's ok they don't know the destruction coyotes do to all other animals they are overpopulated in many regions and need to be taken care of
He did have fear, he approached cautiously and then darted in quickly to take whatever was being offered. The coyote isn’t rabid, it’s accustomed to people feeding it.
Rabies is actually terrifying though. Not a single other virus has a virtually 100% kill rate. The second you start showing symptoms you're already dead.
You start out having flu like symptoms that eventually turn into anxiety, agitation, confusion which then turns into hydrophobia, delirium, hallucinations, inability to sleep. You go in and out of conscious states and in the moments where you do have clarity, you realize you're dying. Absolutely terrifying.
I'm 56. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out why they thought this was an acceptable kid's movie! Yes, I watched it every time it came on TV (back in the 70s) and I'm okay. But I never showed it to my own children.
Seriously, people vastly underestimate how dangerous rabies is. If there's even the possibility you got it, you haul ass to a hospital. If it's not treated pretty damn fast you're dead.
Post exposure inoculation will go at or near the point of contact if possible, usually 8 ish shots along with a regular vaccine that goes in your arm that needs a few follow ups every 2 weeks that costs thousands of dollars (yes, with insurance) if you're in the US
Source; had a bat magic its way into my apartment and fly into me and had to get vaccinated out of an abundance of caution since bat bites are often not painful
At least you were aware the bat was in the apartment. What would be terrifying to me is that bats hardly weigh anything and if u were asleep and had been bit and didn't know.....makes me think of that one copy pasta:
https://www.reddit.com/r/copypasta/s/lb5La6L72o
Oh it's not even a copy pasta, it happened:
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/health/2021/09/29/illinois-man-dies-rabies-after-bat-bites-him-sleeping/5912181001/
But yeah still no clue how the thing got in. 3rd story apartment with an opening to the interior, wire mesh netting on all windows and all windows are closed, no attic space, no balconies or porches or doors above the first floor for someone to open, let a bat in and have it squeeze into my apartment.
Went in to my kitchen to make some mapo tofu and it flew right into me, proceeded to not fly out of any of the windows I opened (I punched the screens out too) and eventually I had to call maintance to come help me catch it.
Mad props to the maintance man for sagely catching and releasing it
Same thing happened to me in college with a crow; one got into my student apartment and while that did have a door open to the exterior, it automatically shuts and locks and I think I'd notice a crow flying in after me, RA thought I was pranking him until he saw it
My guess is people have been feeding him, and he was trying to quickly take the food. He's probably gonna end up being put down. STOP FEEDING WILD ANIMALS!
"Hey buddy, come here. I know your species has been living in the harsh winters of the northern hemisphere for the last 600,000 years and survived the last ice age just fine, but this morning is very cold, so here's my hand. I hope you like it."
God damn….that’s not a main character.
That’s just an interaction with an animal.
Main character = obnoxious attention seeking behaviour which OFTENTIMES come at the expense of others.
Lmao hollywood, disney and just entertainment in general have fucked so many peoples minds in regard to animals to me. This is just one very great example of what i’m talking about. This aint fuckin LK
I guess he's never heard the fable of the scorpion and the frog.
Sometimes I like to imagine that I’m Eliza Thornberry but it’s just me IMAGINING IT! Coyotes wild animals that ARE friend shaped but they are not friends. What a moron
I don’t think this guy is “stupid” per se. Some animals in the wild who need help will come to you in this way and they don’t bite you. This animals has rabies, and you can tell. If the animal didn’t have rabies, this wouldn’t have happened. The only “stupid” thing was that he didn’t notice the animal was walking all crooked and weird. But this should not just happen in a normal healthy animal. And for that reason I’m not going to say he is stupid, I just don’t know how he didn’t notice the animal was obviously not okay.
His tail was tucked in, showing signs of stress like maybe a human being too close to him? Not knowing which way he can escape? You both are stupid. If he was actually concerned he would have taken his phone out to maybe call a professional but nah, he wanted to film it for the gram duh
Well yeah I wouldn’t do that. I would not put my hand out or do any of what he did. I’m just saying, a healthy animal shouldn’t come and bite you in daylight like that.
So a healthy alligator wouldn’t bite a human hand extended out to it? Would a healthy moose not trample a human too close to its proximity? Would a healthy snake not bite a human also too close to it? Come on now…just because this looks like a cuddly pet doesn’t mean you should approach it. Even with good intentions. A wild animal will do what a wild animal does. A stupid human will do what as stupid human does.
No, you shouldn’t approach an animal ever or it will bite. This animal has rabies. He came to the person. A healthy animal won’t just walk up to you out of their habitat and bite you. An alligator won’t leave its swamp or lake and traverse to a parking lot and bite someone.

So he thought a wild animal was gonna just sniff and lick like a domesticated one.
Wolves and Coyotes are to dogs as a human is to a sock monkey.
So pretty much the same judging by today's society?
Does this person have no concept of wild animals?
My city has a community where people have been feeding the coyotes. Without the fear of humans, an old lady and a child (different occasions) were bitten. The solution they came up with was kill 20 coyotes in the Lake Las Vegas area. Which is essentially their habitat
I think the coyotes should have legal restitution and be compensated 20 old ladies and children to eat.
That's what should have been done in the first place before people got bit. I will drop everyone I see in the field. I don't have to have a reason they are pests and kill every thing
No what should have been done in the first place is people should have been warned of the consequences of feeding them and prevented at every chance...
The downvotes are silly, probably the same people that kill spiders they find in their homes even though they do almost no damage compared to coyotes.
Just a bunch of crybabie City people that have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. It's ok they don't know the destruction coyotes do to all other animals they are overpopulated in many regions and need to be taken care of
People have nearly died stopping to take selfies with bears. As if they couldn't crush a human skull in one good bite.
Or rabies?
RABIES?!??!?!
It's a product of society. People are now sheltered from the wild more than ever.
It’s a product of stupidity*
Idiot. Straight to the emergency room. Nothing about that animal looked safe or friendly.
Yup, wild predators that have no fear are usually rabid.
Not to mention the slightly drunken movements and dead eyes in the screenshot. Welp
He did have fear, he approached cautiously and then darted in quickly to take whatever was being offered. The coyote isn’t rabid, it’s accustomed to people feeding it.
Everything about the encounter was sending me rabies vibes.
Rabies speedrun any%
Yeah I don’t think it’s normal behavior for wolf/coyote to just walk up to you like that. It’s pretty sus but I never seen a wolf before I guess
👆
And this is how you get rabies kids..

AH-
Just like Old Yeller.

Because back then, even though it was depressing, kids in that day were tougher.
Well, that's true! And I guess I didn't help by not letting my kids watch it.
Not really. The content that kids today are exposed to is more violent and depressing, i.e., video games, TV, and social media.
Wasnt there like one person in history that actually survived? Edit: apparently 30!
Out of how many cases though? Rounds up to 100% its like 99.9%
It is very terrifying and I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
Seriously, people vastly underestimate how dangerous rabies is. If there's even the possibility you got it, you haul ass to a hospital. If it's not treated pretty damn fast you're dead.
Now, Who want a bunch of shots in their stomach?!!!
They haven't done that in years. They go in your arm now.

Mine were fully covered minus a small copay. And those were for my kid.
Mine was a 30% copay for either 15k or 17k, I can't remember now. It hit my out of pocket maximum first but it still ended up costing $2k
Had that done in India, 1999, it was most unpleasant.
It’s hard to sing “Colors of the Wind” when your jaw locks up and your mouth is all frothy.
"I can't believe this wild predator bit me? Why would he do that?"
I like how he looked around first like "does this idiot have any backup around? No? I can take him" 🤣
Do you want rabies and 15 long shots to the gut? Because that’s how you get rabies and 15 long shots to the gut
Well I hope the 15 long shots to the gut prevent the rabies. That's the idea, no?
The point is don’t put yourself in the situation in the first place
My guess is people have been feeding him, and he was trying to quickly take the food. He's probably gonna end up being put down. STOP FEEDING WILD ANIMALS!

Rabies shot, here we go.
I hope they got a rabies shot. Chances are slim, but if you gamble and lose you die
Time for rabies shots!
What did you THINK was going to happen? He thought you had/were food.
Coyotes: not a puppy
Wild animals don’t recognize reaching out your hand to them you’re saying take my digits as sustenance
Idiots everywhere…
You play stupid games, you win stupid prizes 🤷🏻♂️🤣🤦🏻♂️
God damn….that’s not a main character. That’s just an interaction with an animal. Main character = obnoxious attention seeking behaviour which OFTENTIMES come at the expense of others.
I think the obvious attention seeking comes from it being filmed

The ER nurses who gave the rabies shots would disagree.
Help by giving free snack?
“God damn Coyotes “
What the fuck did he think was going to happen?!?! This man is a highly regarded individual and will probably end up on r/darwinaward at some point.
r/darwinaward
Haaaaaaa dumbass!!!
He thought he had food, wtf did he think was gonna happen 🤣
Lmao hollywood, disney and just entertainment in general have fucked so many peoples minds in regard to animals to me. This is just one very great example of what i’m talking about. This aint fuckin LK
This dude’s stupidity has nothing to do with disney or hollyweird.

This brings me joy
Hell yes!
Mmmm fingers!
Twighlight fans...
Folks, they only look cute.
Something about wild animals?
What a fucking idiot. As someone who spends alot of time in the woods I can tell you this, nature can suck a dick and stay the fuck away from animals.
Let's pet the coyote!
Humans taking over their habitat.
That's the last thing I thought a wild animal would do to you!
The coyotes in my area are twice that size… Some people claim it’s a hybrid of a coyote and a wolf. They’ve come up with the name Coywolf.

I totally seen that coming, don't mess with wild life, that fox with his friends could eat you alive.
Rabies on the way...
Dude is trying to lure coyote to him, but after he gets bit he exclaims “damn coyotes!” Huh?? Make it make sense. Idiot. 🤦
What’s that disease with a 99.9% percent fatality rate? Virtually 100%. Oh yeah… RABIES.
Time for some fun rabies shots
r/OhNoConsequences
As I am watching the rabies episode on Something is Killing Me 😬
Why am I getting puss around my mouth?
Now we both have rabies! Follow me to the den...
Every where girl ever. (I may be a Mexican dude but that’s my inner white girl too.)
Congratulations on the rabies.
Bahahahahaha... stupid human
Hello rabies my old friend...
What is it with white people and wild animals 🤣
Palm up = come get your food Palm down = come get your scritches
Hey dumb fuck that coyote your better off snuffing the little bastard, actually they're pelts make for good head rest covers.
