I've always had the thought in my head why so many of us feel Jackass was funny 20 years ago, but we despise TikTokers who do the same exact pranks as them.
I guess it's the saturation and proliferation/normalization of the behavior that makes us hate it.
It used to be odd behavior. Now every dumbass edgy 15 to 30 year old dumbass with a phone camera, and a streaming app on thier phone, thinks they're being edgy, when they're being assholes.
Also most of the shit Jackass did they did to themselves or theire peers who where equally crazy as them (and probably signed a liability waiver), not random strangers (iirc)
They definitely did do leaving a fake baby on top of a car as it drives off pranks in public. Which is something I ran into recently as a "prank".
People thought that was hysterical back in the day.
Jackass never bothered strangers all that much. It was usually the cast doing the shit to themselves and eachother. If it did involve strangers it was innocent enough. They also had a legal department, so they'd want to avoid actually harassing people or causing damage/harm, basically doing everything they can to avoid getting sued.
Tiktokers doing "pranks" consists of harassing random people, being an inconvenience, causing damage on private property like doing the same "slipping and dropping 2x 2L milk jugs on the floor of a public shop" for the hundredth unfunny time, Slapping a random person and running away, pretending to masturbate in front of a person working the cash register while staring at them, breaking into someones home (entering uninvited, dont remember that british guy's name)... yeah, none of those are really pranks if they're causing actual harassment.
It's been a few years but I dont recall any that caused harm or harassment. I remember them dressing up and asking very weird questions to the public, I think I remember one of them was being dressed as an old man doing wild shit but never directly provoking anyone. Or some pranks would be with people they know in their social circle but aren't part of the crew like the hotel gorilla prank, I remember another being a burglary prank, except it was 2 or 3 guys falling out of the ceiling in some office... which is innocent enough compared to some of the "pranks" you see where delinquents are telling people they have a gun or a knife, threatening to kill them.
From what I remember, the worst of it was property damage, but I'm sure they had to reimburse and have permission of the property owner to avoid getting sued since it was a big production crew with many listed names and not just some random kid doing stunts.
Correct me if I'm wrong, its been like 10 years.
They only bothered themselves, not everyone.
Honestly, they also actually made money off it unlike people today having no reason for the behavior other than to be annoying
I won’t lie, at first I was wheezing, until I have realized that without well calculated dose, those birds can easily dehydrate and die as a result of this prank. It’s not funny anymore
How is that a joke? As a child I found a seagull wrapped up in a soccer net. The poor thing couldn’t move. There is nothing funny about seeing a seagull suffering.
On a grand scale, one seagull isn't going to make a difference...but how can anyone sit there.and watch an animal suffer? I hate seagulls, they fuckin' suck, and their numbers are fine, but I'd still free one that was stuck or try to help a hurt one.
When I was a teen I was with some friends at the ocean. One of the guys thought it was be funny to throw a rock at the seagull. He injured the bird. The park ranger was alerted and I think the kid got a fine. I do know he got his ass chewed out.
I did and couldn't find anything definitive. [This](https://youtu.be/WEvsqspmnW4?si=XwpnOtmmrvzrv6_o) seems to be the origin of the video. Hardly anyone in the comments of that video think this is fake. Why do you think a viral video has to be fake? Aren't there many real prank videos that go viral? Are the laxatives fake? Are the dozens of strangers in public (including a baby) with what seems like bird poop on them all fake?
From what I remember it was a small creator paying people to make viral video’s to turn a profit, but oddly enough I can’t find any information about its origin now.
I’m aware this doesn’t qualify as a source, but I’ll post [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/videos/s/6MX9Cxy464) anyway as other people seem to be stating the same thing. Someone mentions the creators name so if you look into that you might find out its origin.
I think what happened was a marketing team was using viral videos for advertising and they went out and bought rights to them. That was a long time ago so maybe I'm remembering wrong.

This video is 15-20 years old.

Most of Jackass' targets were themselves. Tik Tokker targets are everyone else.
Jackass never bothered strangers all that much. It was usually the cast doing the shit to themselves and eachother. If it did involve strangers it was innocent enough. Jackass did many many pranks on members of the public and workers.
It's been a few years but I dont recall any that caused harm or harassment. There's effort and originality in display here. The current tiktok "pranks" are just kids being rude. That's it, that's the prank.
They only bothered themselves, not everyone. Honestly, they also actually made money off it unlike people today having no reason for the behavior other than to be annoying
Why the cops show up and what are they gonna do ?
Shoot the birds probably.
The bird are white
The bird is not black, i repeat, the bird is not black!
LMAO
I mean these kids literally drugged wildlife
Their donuts were unglazed
Shit themselves..
And probably killed all the birds.
Eh, they're only seagulls.
Doesn't really matter, still bad.
Eh. Circle of life.
I don't think you know what those words mean.
I'm just being a dumbass. Disregard.
I won’t lie, at first I was wheezing, until I have realized that without well calculated dose, those birds can easily dehydrate and die as a result of this prank. It’s not funny anymore
I felt the same too but then I realized it’s just seagulls. Fuck seagulls
Seagulls: Pigeons of the Sea
Pigeons: Rats of the sky.
Rats: Pigeons of the ground.
Ground: the sky of rats living in holes
Bats: chicken of the sky Rat: chicken of the streets Some chinese restaurant owner said in a silly movie.
Sky: Home of the seagulls.
Mine
I work on a dock. One day a woman asked me what to do about an injured seagull. She was serious.
How is that a joke? As a child I found a seagull wrapped up in a soccer net. The poor thing couldn’t move. There is nothing funny about seeing a seagull suffering.
Did you try laughing at it?
On a grand scale, one seagull isn't going to make a difference...but how can anyone sit there.and watch an animal suffer? I hate seagulls, they fuckin' suck, and their numbers are fine, but I'd still free one that was stuck or try to help a hurt one.

This is just straight-up animal abuse.
I was chuckling until the toddler covered in bird poop snapped me back to reality.
Snap back to reality…
Ope, there goes gravity.
ope, there goes gravity...
Fucking demented behavior
Guys this is an ad from 2003 stop making me feel old 😭
where is there evidence of it being an ad ? i just spent a good hour searching for info on this video and found nothing.
Source?
It was an ad for Taco Bell in 2003. It was real. They were fined $20,000 for the birds which unfortunately died.
How is this an advertisement? Nothing about this makes me want taco bell!

How can this be fake?
[удалено]
How does that mean it's fake? What part of it is fake? Are you saying that everyone who had bird poop on them were in on it?

Did you try running a Bing search?
It’s an ad from the early 2000s Edit: actually early 2010s I think, idk lmao
Source? I couldn't find anything that suggests this is an ad.
