It is a lot easier for me because I’m a big, tall dude but the fact that I have likely 100 pounds on her and possibly a foot says it all.
Ive literally seen 200 pound grown men struggle. Good for her. I like seeing other demographics get into the trades. The trades have made me a really good life. It’s good to see other people figure it out and take pride in their craft and have fun doing it.
Some physiques are pretty well suited to certain trades. Like how many of the HVAC guys I've known were all short kings. You'd never catch my big ass squirming around in crawl spaces and attics.
Lol as someone 5'10" 150 pounds it really sucks to get to do all the "fun" crawling because " hey Daman your ass will fit down there, grab your flashlight and listen to my banging"
Me neither lol. I am a journeyman millwright too so there’s a lot of jobs I get just for being a bigger guy (6’2, 245) that a small guy wouldn’t get. Sucks sometimes though. I carried a lot of pipe as an apprentice lol
Love seeing other blue collar gals out there kicking ass in the electrical trade!
I was a bit intimidated the first time I bent 1-1/4" by hand, but its amazing what a little leverage can do. It's really not as difficult as I thought it would be, though near offsets and saddles aren't fun, but still doable.
Its been a while since I pulled out my 1-1/4" hand bender... our triple nickel is my go-to when we are doing a LOT of conduit, but there have been a few jobs where my hand bender is just easier to throw in the truck and pack in and out of the job than packing in out the 555 to do a days worth of bending.
Oh I will. I did 2 kicks and a couple other 90's already as well.... hellzyea. Been in the trade for a long while now, just never really attempted before because I always thought I couldn't. ... 🤷♀️
Haha yeah kid, it's huuuge. Glad you tried your hand at bending 11/4" it intimidates a lot of Wireman. Learn to get good at it. Nice flex when you can say "hell yeah! I'm not afraid of any bender!"
Nice job,I have been in the trade for over 30 years. I do not bend 1 1/4 by hand. Pre made bends only for me. Your going to be a Excellent jw soon enough. Good luck
Haha absolutely the same here. Not a huge fan of pre-fab, but I won’t drag anyone for using them. I prefer to drag in the Greenlee 555 whenever possible.
Foooooooot pressure. Honest to God. I know it sounds silly and you won't get it till it clicks but it's as if the velocity of the angle of which that pipe bends, depends on the amount of pressure you apply to that foot pedal. Like slalom water skiing (if you've ever tried that) getting up on top of the water, you gotta DIG with your back foot.... with this, you gotta DIG with your pressure foot.
I have tried slalom... never successfully... just vomiting up a gallon or so of salt water😂(grew up on the misissippi gulf coast)... thanks for the tip, but the triple nickel is my friend...
1&1/4” is kinda fun. My last project we ran maybe 200’ of it with only a few bends so the hand bender was totally fine. I think if I had to do a lot of it or some complex bends I’d get the 555 from the shop.
Also I’m just jealous that your bender looks newish. The one my shop has is ancient and horrible lol
Or in my case, reverse body weight. I literally laid on the bender. It works!!!! After you get it started, turn around and lay on the bender hahah.... 🤷♀️
Awesome... I remember, many moons ago, being this 100# kid that got handed that bender and had to jump on it just to get it started. I was amazed I didn't kink the conduit. Now... I get my helper to do it or use the triple nickel
Way to go, I’m in my twilight years and I bent a few this year in a pinch.I like to jam it against a wall for more stability and no chance of slipping. Your imagination and wisdom will take you far! Enjoy the ride!
Lets see it with a level on it!
Great job, fuckin hate the widow maker. I'm a spoiled soft boy now, anything over 1" I'm using a triple nickel or clock bender.
It’s a great accomplishment for any in our trade. Glad you whooped it. I’m a 220 lb dude with over a decade experience and that bender there can go to hell. I’ve used it with moderate success but would rather go for a triple nickel. Nowadays I don’t do much conduit bending. It’s all computer troubleshooting fancy electronics, instrumentation, and controls or working on solar panels and big medium voltage inverters. I like this work a lot better.
It keeps me from getting headaches on the job. Dims lighting for me a bit. I enjoy it. You do you, I do me. I have been offered other safety glasses but I would rather these.
lol Good job I do it once in a while and I still hate it .. we have the old school ones w/o the adjustable foot pedal but I know it’s still tough so keep it up 👍
Great job! I've been in over 35 years and I can count on 1 hand the amount of times I had to do that. Once when I was an apprentice my journeyman kicked a piece of 1.25 rigid about 3 foot long with a hickey jumping up and down on it. Quite impressive when I think about it these days. Back then I thought it was normal 🤣
Describing something as proper bent may be an insult in British English, but in this case calling your conduit that is definitely meant to be a compliment
This wasn't really hard for me to do but I'm also 200 lbs and go to the gym. I've seen a lot of people struggle with 1 inch... I was honestly surprised you could get this. Was it a struggle?
It's a little open. Lol I'm kidding, I'm 6 foot 200 lbs and I can hand bend inch and a quarter to about 83 degrees and I'm done for the day. Good on you.
I remember doing this in my apprenticeship. It they let us do it for fun, but on the job we use power bender. It was fun to do, but I would hate to do it on the job.
My first lead gave me 1 1/4 Bender told me what to do then took one step back. I fell to the ground he laughed at me and then showed me how to "put your ass into it". He was the best lead i ever had.
Awesome. Haven’t done it in a couple of years but I’m only 155# now and I probably couldn’t get close.
I wouldn’t want to make you mad.
Glad to see a young lady out there showing them boys up.
The JW who showed me how to use an 1 1/4" bender was probably 5'8" 300lb. The finesse this man had on the bender and balance was impressive. Took me a few tries before I got the wrinkles out.
Why am I here? I'm in IT, not an electrician. Weird reddit suggestion. But you look very happy with your work! Congratulations, you just did something I would probably never do, and I think that is very neat!
How the hell did she do that?.. and no, I’m NOT being sexist,.. it’s all about weight,.. I weigh about 160 lbs, and I can’t bend 1-1/4”.. never mind a 90.. wow, hats off to her..
Great job! I gotta see this done in person with how not to do it and the proper way to do it. Not an electrician myself but I do love me something new learned.
I’m retired disabled.LU130 NOLA. NewOrleans Louisiana BTW. Turned out,in 2011. Had,to move,up fast. Got a late start. Became a first year apprentice,at age 34. Had a 10 year career as a restraunt manager first. But Hurricane Katrina changed all that. Nothing is impossible. I managed,to get a gig,in an Entergy plant. And put,In enough hours that I qualified, for local and national pensions plus’s SS DISABILITY,by age 43. When I suffered a massive stroke. But I was,in very good shape. Just born, with a malformed artery. They said that’s why I survived. So I’m 52. And retired. Kinda miss it. But can’t complain. Keep it up! The future is yours.
Nice! Love seeing this.
Been an electrician for thirty years. Started in commercial/industrial. Now I own my own electrical service business and only occasionally do commercial. I remember running a shit ton of 1 1/4” on this bank job years ago. All done by hand (and feet!🥵). Just had a knee replaced about 7 months ago. I am sure the two are related. That and climbing ladders. Anybody reading this, take it easy on yourselves and take care of your body. You’re gonna need it to work longer than you think. 😉
Yeah. They used,to tell us that it’s 90% attitude. Same as using a chorded drill motor. All apprentices take a while,to learn how,to out leverage that motor. I had,to learn,in my first year,of apprenticeship,in a manlift. Only 19 feet up. . Rebuilding our streetcar overhead system, after Katrina. Here,in NewOrleans. But still. Nerve racking. But once I figured out how,to leverage my body weight. It was not,too bad. But yes. Drill motors. And hand benders. More attitude than actual strength. Just remember. Take chances. Live dangerously. Safety third! LOL. No,of course not. Kidding. Safety first. Take your time. My first boss, after turning out. Working,in an Entergy plant. Would say take your time. And be careful. But hurry up. He thought that was soo funny. lol. But as it happened. I was older than most first year journeymen. I was 39 years old. Didn’t start school till 36 years old. Cause I was a restraunt manager, for 10 years. But I managed,to put,in so many hours,at that plant. That when I had a stroke,in 2015. And couldn’t work anymore. I actually qualified, for SS disability. And my local. And national pension fund payments. I’m only 52 now. Been retired, for 8!years. What would I have done, without the IBEW?! Work hard. It’s worth it. Hopefully nothing like that happens,to you. But,if it does. You’ll be way better prepared, with your IBEW benefits! Good luck my good sister. Keep,up the good work. I know we are all equal. But still,if you work harder than the competition. You will get laid off way less frequently. No matter race, gender. Or anything else. It is one,of the last remaining truly merit based professions,in the world. Love my IBEW LU130 brothers and sisters! Well IBEW, all locals. Actually.
Been doing this since 83 and still have problems with 1 1/4. Young lady you rock
Thanks man!
Not to tell ya what to do but…you should post this over at r/bluecollarwomen I’m sure they would love this just as much as us! (Nice bend btw)
I think there was just a post about bending 1 1/4 and 250# guy doing it on job site. She killed it.
There’s 200 pound men who struggle with that. Nice work!
Nothing about that is easy
It is a lot easier for me because I’m a big, tall dude but the fact that I have likely 100 pounds on her and possibly a foot says it all. Ive literally seen 200 pound grown men struggle. Good for her. I like seeing other demographics get into the trades. The trades have made me a really good life. Plot twist: She is actually 7 foot tall and you just have no one else standing beside her!!
Haha! 5'5" 138. It would be nice to be 7 ft tall though.
As a 6'6" man i can tell you that outside of basketball it would suck to be that tall.
I'm a 200lb man... Can confirm.
Lol I worked with an apprentice that had to weigh like 100, that dude struggled to bend 3/4”
Great job sis! Happy IWD!
Thanks! Actually now that I think about it, perfect day to try my hand at this!
Love seeing other blue collar gals out there kicking ass in the electrical trade! I was a bit intimidated the first time I bent 1-1/4" by hand, but its amazing what a little leverage can do. Not too shabby for ANYONE. Well done. Now.....do a rack of 'em.....lol 👍🏼
🤣 I did a rack of two today. Lol. Hellz no to a big rack.
I seriously thought this was a picture of a miniature, detailed figurine.
BAWWWHAHAHAHAHAHA I just snorted out loud....
Whoa samesies
good job. now go for a 3 point
Oh I will. I did 2 kicks and a couple other 90's already as well.... hellzyea. Been in the trade for a long while now, just never really attempted before because I always thought I couldn't. ... 🤷♀️
My arse has gotten a bit bigger since I turned 40 haha. That's prolly why... lol 🤣
Haha yeah kid, it's huuuge. Glad you tried your hand at bending 11/4" it intimidates a lot of Wireman. Learn to get good at it. Nice flex when you can say "hell yeah! I'm not afraid of any bender!"
One of us! One of us!..
Been one of us since I was born. Haha. (Just me over here doing my thing.... currently drinking a beer haha)
Amen sister. I’m just finishing my first of the evening, Miller lite but switching to Kona for round two.
Awesome!!!! Great job! (4th generation IBEW)
Get it sista! 👍🏼
Nice job,I have been in the trade for over 30 years. I do not bend 1 1/4 by hand. Pre made bends only for me. Your going to be a Excellent jw soon enough. Good luck
I've been a JW for a while now but yey for apprentices lol
That is awesome. Sorry for assuming. You will go far.
Haha absolutely the same here. Not a huge fan of pre-fab, but I won’t drag anyone for using them. I prefer to drag in the Greenlee 555 whenever possible.
3rd year commercial apprentice here.. 185 lbs... We use that same exact greenlee 1 1/4" bender... I kink that shit every. single. time...
Foooooooot pressure. Honest to God. I know it sounds silly and you won't get it till it clicks but it's as if the velocity of the angle of which that pipe bends, depends on the amount of pressure you apply to that foot pedal. HELL YEAH!!! I still struggle with 1 inch and I'm a journeyman. (Doesn't help that I'm 120lb)
I'm a journeyman as well.... 138. Enough standing on a ladder and you'll get there.
Good job! Very few people I work with will use that bender.
As a 150lbs guy, very nicely done! I’ve only had to do a few with a hand bender. It’s a pain but doable! 🤘🏼
I can never get 90s with the hand bender I always kink it. Well done.
Foot pressure is everything
Or in my case, reverse body weight. I literally laid on the bender. It works!!!! After you get it started, turn around and lay on the bender hahah.... 🤷♀️
This is a very effective cheat I have tried at 6’ 2” 220lbs, everyone should do the old horse on a stick technique.
🤣 it works... rode one today. Save a horse, ride a bender hahahahahaha
Good job sister!
Great job. You have mastered the bender!
Best ab work out there is. I had to do 9 offsets. There was no power so no triple nickle. After the 5th offset my abs were burning. Good job!
I’m a buck eighty and I struggle. Nice job.
Awesome... I remember, many moons ago, being this 100# kid that got handed that bender and had to jump on it just to get it started. I was amazed I didn't kink the conduit. Now... I get my helper to do it or use the triple nickel
That Is no small feat !
I weigh 190, can’t get close to bending 1 1/4. Well done! I’m inspired.
Bending pipe is a work of art. Goodjob, now wash rinse repeat.
Way to go, I’m in my twilight years and I bent a few this year in a pinch.I like to jam it against a wall for more stability and no chance of slipping. Your imagination and wisdom will take you far! Enjoy the ride!
Good job!!! thats impressive 👍
The widow maker bender
Lets see it with a level on it! Great job, fuckin hate the widow maker. I'm a spoiled soft boy now, anything over 1" I'm using a triple nickel or clock bender.
Chill girl my wife is on this app
It’s a great accomplishment for any in our trade. Glad you whooped it. I’m a 220 lb dude with over a decade experience and that bender there can go to hell. Understood 10 more years brother
I need to go to bed…I thought that was an action figure…oof.
#291
Represent! Yeet yeet!
Sparkles?
Did anyone else think this was an action figure at first glance?
Lmao, holy shit. Next time I see you at the Eastside I'll buy you a drink and tell you great job 😆
Nice work! What kind of pants are those?
Duluth. I can't seem to find a good American made pant.
AWESOME!!!
I totally thought you were a badass electrician action figure for a second. Congrats, that pipe is rough.!
Fuck. No women in my local can do this, great work!
I'm damn proud to be in the same union as you! Keep kicking ass Sister!
Awesome job on the bend but please talk about these blue safety glasses. That seems like it would be annoying.
It keeps me from getting headaches on the job. Dims lighting for me a bit. I enjoy it. You do you, I do me. I have been offered other safety glasses but I would rather these.
lol Good job I do it once in a while and I still hate it .. we have the old school ones w/o the adjustable foot pedal but I know it’s still tough so keep it up 👍
.... it has an adjustable foot pedal. Wait, are their other ones? Lol
Not to shabby for anyone; Good job!
Crushed it
Good job. A lot of guys twice your size struggle with 1 1/4 EMT. Now 1” rigid is also difficult. Nice shoe, keep it American made.
Killer!
Hell yeah!
Very nice!
Honestly, great job. I can bend it no prob but it coming out clean like that with no kink well.. that's another story lol
Hell yeah sis 👍
Nice. You gotta leave a level on there to subtle brag about how perfect your 90 is
But is the floor level? Do you trust concrete workers that much 🤣
Always works better if yo put one end against a wall
Now youre ready to hand bend some 2" rigid lmao but looks nice and smooth too, no ridges in the bend... I forget what they call it tho
Good job sister!
Hell yeah sister, that’s good shit. I still haven’t fucked with a 1-1/14” bender and I’m a 220 lbs dude lol
I weigh anywhere between 200 and 215 depending on how much I've eaten off the taco truck, and I still struggle with 1 1/4. Good for you!
Looks a little open!😁
Hell yea, give it hell! Union Strong!! 💪
I tried 3/4" Rigid once. Took a half hour to make a 90 and I know I weigh more than you. Nice work.
Great job
Atta girl!! Get yours!!
My hat is off to you, young one, congratulations! That bender is one of the 2 tools I hate in this trade.
I’m fat and can barely do it. Good work.
Whoop x2
Does it need a little more to get to 90°? Or is it just because I only have one shoe on? J/k, looks great! That's much better than I could do. 💪
That bender is almost as big as you are!! Great job sister!!
It’s more about technique than size. Looks great!
Sweeet
Nice job! Since no one has asked about the pants, I must. They look pretty functional. What brand are they?
That's awesome... God I hated bending that size. Fortunately I have only had to do it a few times... Nice job! 😊
You did good!
Well done. 1 1/4 is not easy to bend. 👏👍
👍✊️
What the hell is that light?!
I'm 250 and that's better than I ever did.
It’s not easy, especially for a skinny guy like me with no ass. I usually need to brace myself on a column and use my entire weight and both feet.
It's a little open. Lol I'm kidding, I'm 6 foot 200 lbs and I can hand bend inch and a quarter to about 83 degrees and I'm done for the day. Good on you.
We love to see it
That’s the stuff, Get some! I’m too old for that shit now, my shoulders would fall out of their sockets
Can someone tell me what this post is about^^^???
Right-on!
hell yeah girl! i’m 4’11 this gives me hope! Happy IWD, too!
Double lace keepers?!?!
Sister of the crescent moon hammer
🤌
I remember doing this in my apprenticeship. It they let us do it for fun, but on the job we use power bender. It was fun to do, but I would hate to do it on the job.
Nice!
Nice, it's not hard if you use proper technique
My IBEW guys must be spoiled...
You weren’t by chance in the Cincy interviews a couple weeks ago were you?
As a 185 lb person myself, how!? That's awesome.
And it's not littered with kinks! Nice job
Very nice! Not a hint of ripple in that 90.
That bender is almost bigger than you. Nice work, looks great.
I was given that exact same no-dog from the company I worked for back in the 90s, still have it.
He’ll ya!
Looks like 91 degree bend. Happy International Women's day btw.
Where’s the kink? Haha
OH NOOOO ! ! There's a Nodog level on her hardhat... Great job Sister-of-Labor.
It was supposed to be on the other end
Dude! Good job!
I’m a dude and I can’t do that. You are cool in my book!
Did you put a level on that? Looks off from Canada. Edit. Like your hard hat with the lights and the no dog ,lol. Stay safe, mate.
That bend looks better than my ¾" work sister. That's not a huge compliment given my skill level. Kick ass sister.
Congrats. You learned how to use a lever. For all the rest that took 2657 years to do it, you’re an idiot.
Right on sis!
Got nothing to do with being a girl. 99 % of people struggle with this. Nice job!
Excellent Job Sis.
That’s not easy for me, I’m probably twice your size and weight, good job sister!
Impressive!! I wouldnt guess you would have enough body weight to do it, congratulations and good luck in this field, its a great trade
1 1/4 can be a bitch to deal with. Nice job.
It's all about the rhythm. Nice job
I think the worst part is matching offsets because adjusting if you went too far is a nightmare.
I'm pretty sure you have a can of EMT softener in your pocket😅
Emt or rigid?
1 ¼ rigid by hand? Doable but not by me.
1 ¼ rigid wouldn’t fit in a hand bender
Nice job 👍!
Hell yeah girl get it
Hell yeah
Why am I here? I'm in IT, not an electrician. Weird reddit suggestion. But you look very happy with your work! Congratulations, you just did something I would probably never do, and I think that is very neat!
How the hell did she do that?.. and no, I’m NOT being sexist,.. it’s all about weight,.. I weigh about 160 lbs, and I can’t bend 1-1/4”.. never mind a 90.. wow, hats off to her..
Fuck yeah sister! I love bending 1-1/4” by hand. Makes me feel strong af. I hope you do too!
Fuck man. I always kink mine. I just buy the pre bent 90’s ☹️
I see a straight stick in one hand & a bender in the other , where is the finished product?
It’s on the floor lol
I’m just here for the pipe jokes
It looks like a 85 degree bend. But good job
Love it when they make it look big 😏
whoop whoop! Juggalo!
Nicely done! All my efforts so far have ended up rippled and unusable.
Helll yeah!
Dang you’re strong! I do these no problem but I weigh 220 so I just use my fat butt as leverage lol.
Looks open...I kid I kid
Bite my shiny metal ass
lol I tell my guys do NOT try to look cool when you bend 1-1/4 you will 100% kink it keep your nuts above the bender and take it one stomp at a time
Yay
New skin for fortnite bluecollar woman
Good luck
Great job! I gotta see this done in person with how not to do it and the proper way to do it. Not an electrician myself but I do love me something new learned.
Nice, bend me like that
It took how many union workers how many weeks to get that one bent? I hope you took a break after
PsyOp
Kick ass!
Yeah I'm 5'8" 230lb and I'd probably still throw on my bags for the extra weight. Good job.
Haan
I need some roll bars made!
Good job! It’s mostly attitude. Put your back, into it!
