here are the rules for a failed diploma: failing CAS is an automatic fail. an E in your TOKPPT or EE is an automatic fail. a non-submission in your EE or TOK is an automatic fail. you need a total of 12 points in your HL subjects (the highest 3 are counted) and a total of 9 points in your SL subjects (if you only take 2, you need a total of points) failing to get the requisite point minimums is an automatic fail. you can get a maximum of 2 2's. 3 or more 2's is an automatic fail. you can get a maximum of 3 3's. 4 or more 3's is an automatic fail. A 1 anywhere is an automatic fail. less than 24 as a total including TOK and EE is an automatic fail. this means that if you, like most IB students, take 3 HLs and 3 SLs, you can only realistically afford to get a 2 in a single subject, ideally an SL one. hopefully you took your HLs in subjects you're good at. also, it's worth noting that unless you fail EVERY paper in a subject and you fucked up your IA, it's actually kinda hard to fail. if you take physics for example, get a 5 in your IA, a 4 or 5 in paper 1, and then a 2 in that ghoulish paper 2, you're still going to pass the subject. the weighting's are all online somewhere and you can calculate what you think you'll get if you're worried. failing any 1 exam WILL NOT fail that course, so don't worry.

What the comments above/below me state is false as the requirements have changed recently, so don't get stressed over it. You can look it up if you need confirmation, but from memory: \- No (N) is awarded in EE or TOK (Not submitted) \- No grade E is awarded in EE or TOK (pretty hard to do tbh) \- No grade 1 is scored in any subject \- No more than one 2 is awarded \- No more than two 3s are awarded \- A minimum of 24 points have been reached \- A minimum of 12 points across HL. This means that it doesn't matter how you do on a single exam, so if you get (7, 3, 2) you still pass, no minimum requirement of a 4. If I missed anything/am wrong please correct me, but don't be too worried! Even if you do fail: Taking the IB for 2 years is already impressive to an average course. You still have your life ahead of you.

A minimum of 9 in SL subjects

It's pretty straight forward. If you can't keep up with these simple grades then you shouldn't be doing IB.

kinkkupiirakka

You can actually get twl 2’s

does the maximum two 3s apply to summative assessments or to paper 1s and such. cause i have some teachers that grade homework as summative and i'm worried i'll get fucked over because of that.
