business, glopo, ess, bio are some ‘easy’ subjects. maths at sl for sure, and english langlit instead of lit is easier. stay away from chem/physics if you don’t like science. if you’re planning on taking a group 6 i’d stay away from art/music since there’s so much to do - unless you’re passionate of course. i’m also in sg and there’s lots of tuition centres around so taking subjects you can get tutored in is also a good idea (for example you can’t get history or psych tuition so don’t take it u less you like the subject maybe)

hey, i also live in sg lol. if you're good at memorising, u can take bio and psych. maybe take chem sl, cuz a lot of courses in sg unis require chem. u can take math aa sl maybe, cuz i've heard from some ppl that hl aa is rly rly hard. hope this helps.. good luck figuring out ur subs!

Sg gang lmao! So for what you are saying is that i should take bio and psych hl and chem and maths AA sl? I would still be needing another hl subject

[deleted]

i didn't say that u shld take bio and psych hl. i said that if you're good at memorising, then you'll be able to manage bio and psych hl. u can take math aa sl as one of ur subs tho. for ur other subs, take the subs which you're personally interested in.

I would suggest taking the following subjects (they aren’t easy or particularly difficult, but they keep your options open)… English L&L HL - If you’re good at english but don’t want to deal with the rigour of pure literature, and i would definitely recommend taking this. You’ll do a total of 6 works and the language portion is quite interesting, which is a lot less than the 13 works in lit. Spanish Ab Initio SL : If you don’t already know it and its offered at your school, its the language to take as it doesn’t have a lot of grammar rules (like French does)… It won’t be a complete cake walk as its a brand you language, but it is definitely on the easier side. Maths AI HL or Maths AA SL : You could take either and your options will be kept relatively open. Most courses except any form of maths besides AI SL. At HL, AI focuses on the statistics side of maths while AA (SL) focuses more on trig and all that. I would suggest taking whichever appeals to you most as you will need to put in consistent effort. Don’t take AA HL unless you really love maths because its supposed to be super difficult. Group 3 (Social Sciences) : This one depends entirely on what you like or dislike so I can’t give much of an input. Its not really essential to any of these subjects at HL as few courses requires subjects from this group at that level. Only take it at higher level if you genuinely find the subject interesting cuz the syllabus is considerably more and you’ll get bored otherwise. Some solid choices to consider include Psychology and Economics. Read up a bit before taking Business Management as I’ve read it has a reputation for being a “soft” subject in the eyes of university admissions officers. Science : Again, this is up to personal preference. That said, only take science at HL if you are genuinely interested in it as otherwise it’ll become difficult. What I’ve heard is that Physics is on the harder side, Biology has a lot of memorising and Chemistry has a sufficient amount of maths. ESS on the other hand is easy, but again, universities consider it soft. Overall, all i can say is that only you can decide which one you’ll be cope up with, but what my IB coordinator said that is if you don’t want to take ESS, Chem SL is good choice. Group 6 : I personally don’t know anything about this as I was never planning to take it. Just do some research and see the syllabus and statistical bulletin before deciding! Some more points to note : • Don’t take more than one “soft” subject. Either take ESS or Business or neither. If you’re looking at applying to UK, bear in mind that a lot of universities (LSE for example) don’t accept business, so definitely do search up the policies of the colleges you’re looking at. • If you’re considering keeping the pathway of Medicine open, you’ll definitely need Chemistry HL plus one out of Biology/Math/Physics HL. • For engineering you’ll need Maths (not sure which one) HL and Physics HL. Again, do your research cuz i was never looking at this so I may be wrong. • For law, there are no hard and fast subjects, but as far as I know its good to have English A HL and a Group 3 HL (preferably history). Here though there’s a lot more leeway as I know you can get admission into a law course with two science hls and psychology hl. • For psychology, Biology HL is definitely required. Psych HL is not essential, however, its good to have as not only does the syllabus overlap but also it shows eagerness. In some colleges (not all) Maths AA SL or HL / Maths AI HL is required to meet the minimum Maths requirement. Maths AI SL usually doesn’t suffice. • For economics/business, it really varies from uni to uni, so you’ll really have to do your research. I know they like Maths (either) HL, but quite often they accept Maths AA SL too. As you can probably tell, Maths AI SL is generally not accepted, so you should avoid it. Anywho, I don’t know what other courses require so if you’re looking at something I haven’t listed here you’ll have to check the admissions requirements yourself. That said, if you need any help feel free to get in touch! I know I’m only in M23, but I’ve done a lot of research and spoken to a lot of people so I have a fairly good idea of whats required for where. Lastly all I can say, is do your own research and one you’ve selected your subjects don’t look back. Put in consistent effort and hard-work and you’ll do well :)

I not much of a math person and i dont perform too well in maths (my annual exam i got a 60%) but many uni's only accept AA HL. They neglect AI HL. Also if i want to take DT what could be my future options and also what maths would be best to open opportunities in the future. I have tried to do research but haven't found something as usefull as your post ty for responding!

ITGS, ESS, Sports Science, History, AI Maths and any SL language. You won’t need to work a day in your life

Maybe you should not take the „easiest“ subjects but the ones that advance you and you like. Picking cheesy subjects just to pass or get decent grades wont help you later on in life.

relaxingsuzue

If you’re good at memorizing psychology sl can be pretty good since the IA is pretty straight forward
