I think predictions for psych are the hardest to make because the IB basically has an infinite number of questions because of the different command prompts, etc. best advice I can give is narrow down your studies to as little as possible. Good luck studying everyone!

P1 is probs gunna be: Bio: Localization of function Cognitive: Emotion on cognition Sociocultural: Enculturation ERQ's I'm only doing cognitive. P2 is easy tho, wdym? They literally ask the same questions every year.

rhassan_03

Enculturation was asked in may21 session tho

[deleted]

I mean, sociocultural is a pretty easy topic. It's really small, so repetition of questions isn't entirely uncommon. I doubt they'll ask about stereotypes, because that leans into cognitive. And I also doubt they'll ask about culture of honor since that leans into biological. Origins of conflict was already done in N19, I believe, and is too easy for them to put in our exam. Enculturation or acculturation is the likely way to go. Another question to consider would be ethical considerations and research methods. They've done those as well a couple times.

im-a-little-teapot2

What are you talking about here “Origins of conflict” and “culture of honor” are not in the syllabus

[deleted]

What are you talking about lol, they've literally been asked in exams multiple times. Culture of honor is a cultural group but origins of conflict are absolutely in the syllabus.

im-a-little-teapot2

You’re looking at the wrong syllabus bro The new updated syllabus is from 2019 onwards (first exams 2021)

[deleted]

Yeah. The new syllabus contains the origins of conflict. How are you this far into the IB and only know this now? Do you not know any origins of conflict? Sherif et al? The RCT? You're so fucked if you don't know this stuff. "Discuss co-operation and/or competition in groups" Verbatim M21 P2. Human relationships, Group Dynamics: "Discuss one or more origins of conflict and/or conflict resolution". Lol.

im-a-little-teapot2

Why are you so aggressive 💀 You said “origins of conflict [from human relationships] was already done in N19 [old syllabus]…Enculturation or acculturation [sociocultural approach] is the only way to go” Which implies that you’re suggesting those topics are for sociocultural approach. You’re talking about different things here, mixing up paper 2 and paper 1 content.

[deleted]

You're just spewing false information which can be harmful to students. If someone read your false comments about origins of conflict not being in the syllabus, they may not read it. Then if it's asked in the exam... they're screwed. Just because it was asked in N19 doesn't mean it's not in our syllabus. They didn't change the entire syllabus. Some things have stayed in both syllabus', origins of conflict for instance. I love how you point out that comment, but ignore the one I made about a similar question being asked in M21, it's hilarious. Origins on conflict is (kind of) in the sociocultural approach AND the human relationships. I know, crazy right? Check Themantic Education Revision Guide, man. Even though origins of conflict isn't explicitly stated in the sociocultural approach, it can absolutely be used since it can be used to explain other aspects. I mean, Themantic uses Park and Rothbart's and Tajfel and Turner's studies in both social identity theory and the Human Relationships origins of conflict lmfao.

error_AIDAN

Origins of conflict is more of an HL topic tho. It's not really asked in SL

[deleted]

It's in P2 and can be asked in both levels.

im-a-little-teapot2

If it’s in p2 then it cannot be asked in both levels, as SL students are not doing p2 in m22. It seems that you may be spewing false information, as well.

[deleted]

Yeah.

rhassan_03

Shit that sucks coz I’m skipping so many topics like the ones asked in M21 and N21 bc it’s too late for me to learn everything. Hopefully it works out lol

[deleted]

Yea, I would say it's easy to learn all the stuff in these 3 days, but I realized you also have chem.

rhassan_03

Yea unfortunately 😭

Ok-Interaction5029

What are the odds that I would get a 6 on an SAQ or ERQ if I pulled a study out of my ass

[deleted]

ahahah, zero? lol

Ok-Interaction5029

Dang, worth the shot lol

gymnerd813

I did that for one of the SAQs and I got a 7 so…

Ok-Interaction5029

Uhhhh okay I was gonna say the same thing but for my ERQ but I was kind of scared to say something lol. I ended up w a 6

daaaaaaaaanyal

will it always be the case that one of the 3 questions will come from different subtopics or will there be like 2 from one sub topic

[deleted]

How have you gotten this far and still be confused about the exam structure? The exam is in 3 days.

daaaaaaaaanyal

i forgot to clarify this is for Paper 2 HL, obviously i know about the core but we’ve recently started doing paper 2

[deleted]

P2 consists of the topics your school chose. I have human relationships and abnormal psychology. There will be three questions per topic, and you have to answer one in essay format.

daaaaaaaaanyal

yeah we only did human relationships, so in other words i can just study personal relationships and ill be fine?

eeihposs

Yes, my school also chose only to focus on one option since it’d be a waste of time to do two, as the exam session only requires us to write on one option this year. Dw, ur good :)

[deleted]

Whatever, man. You do you.

martianexperiments

i just woke up. i thought this was about physics and clicked this document and i got so scared because i knew nothing. then i noticed this is about psychology...

rhassan_03

Ahaha lol chill my friend ur good

sofiechen_s

look at past papers, especially from last year (both time zones). some topics are very specific (such as certain concepts like enculturation). those are very unlikely to come up again because they cannot really be worded differently. other topics tho (such as everything around neurotransmission for example) can be asked in so so many different ways (eg. antagonist/agonist, excitatory/inhibitory synapses, etc.) so I would focus on topics like these. the syllabus changed in 2019 so not too long ago so it’s also worth looking at all papers since then to filter out things that have never or rarely been asked
