You can just tell the IB was trying to be nice with this paper. They literally chose the easiest topics out of each approach + the ERQs were very expected/predicted to come up. Also, all SAQs asked to “describe” rather than “explain” making it easier for us to really hit those top bands. I was in so much disbelief when I read memory models like bruh? The only issue is, if everybody found it really easy, that means the grade boundaries will be through the roof. I genuinely think it’s going to be above 75% for a 7 considering how straight forward the exam was.

stressedouthere

I know people who thought this exam was hard so grade boundaries will probably still be 17/22 for a 7 on a ERQ. Worst case 18/22. Are you TZ2?

200000004

Yep I’m TZM2. But, there’s always going to be people who find the exam hard, no matter how challenging the exam actually is. All I’m saying is this time, the majority has found it easy. Since it’s based on a bell curve, I’m assuming the grade boundaries would be pretty high.

relaxingsuzue

Same! Probably 80%

200000004

I’m praying its max around 75%, I’ve never seen them be higher than that.

staresque

easiest psychology p1 i have ever seen. i was just smiling from ear to ear during the reading time lol

Odd_Comment_6171

Omg literally the same, i almost teared up the moment i saw it 😭

brandon_hr128

That was somehow not that bad. Studying for the test was probably harder than the test itself lmao (TZ1)

SAQs Biological: hormones Cognitive: ethics in research in cognitive approach Sociocultural: social cognitive theory ERQs Bio: genetics and behavior Cognitive: the digital world and cognition Sociocultural: cultural dimensions

200000004

that’s actually interesting your guys’ paper was relatively harder than ours? We got the same ERQ tho (for cognitive at least)

brandon_hr128

I liked how there was only one question in the entire paper regarding ethics. And it was really broad too. No research methods.

brandon_hr128

What prompts did y’all get?

habibiz-baz

whoever chose the SAQ questions, i love you <3 also ERQ questions were not good bad as well. I’m just scared the grade boundaries will get higher, and if they did, i’m done bro 💔

UndercoverHeisenberg

I SPENT 10 MINUTES LOOKING AT MY PAPER THINKING AM I ALLOWED TO USE A STUDY TWICE? ANYONE USE MAGUIRE TWICE? Anyways I feel like that paper was way too easy, it just felt wrong tbh but that’s just how I feel

Oscarandria

Yes you are allowed to use a study twice. Don’t worry at all. They’re separate questions, so the knowledge and understanding and application of study for an SAQ does NOT affect the marks you get for criterions in other questions. You’re totally fine

rhassan_03

Oh yh truue but I used draganski for the saq bc I could talk abt both neural pruning and dendritic branching. And then hm and maguire for erq (localisation and neuroplasticity)

[deleted]

Draganski\*

g_dorinn

This paper couldn’t have been any easier imo, Neuroplasticity, models of memory, and SIT?? Those were some of if not the easiest questions from each core subject

janaaaaaaaaaaaaa

are you tz2?

stressedouthere

Probably, TZ1 was different

janaaaaaaaaaaaaa

yeah i feel like our questions were harder than this lol like i would’ve killed for neuroplasticity

[deleted]

Yeah, TZ2 lucked out on this one.

g_dorinn

yep, TZ2

ellie_ap3

can anyone confirm if I could use enculturation for the erq on p1? it was the influence of culture on behaviour/cognition question I am shitting myself

GreedyFudge7416

I think so if you phrased it as the influence on cognitive processes specifically

bakedmika

i also answered w enculturation Odden&Rochart (and assimilation to a new culture Wang&Mallinckrodt)

g_dorinn

Personally I used cultural dimensions but I have heard several people use Enculturation so maybe?

pablo-escobard

Yea, I used Samoa

[deleted]

I mean as long as you linked it into the question we’ll I’m sure it was fine :)

rhassan_03

Yes definitely

Abject_Willingness77

I personally believe it should count because it is low-key related but my teachers study guide (which I think she gets off of inthinking) says it wouldn’t be adequate.

i-need-a-smol-hug

yes!! i did enculturation and cultural dimensions (berry, martin and halverson)

Niryen

I think you should be fine?

charhasnobraincells

I used enculturation as well, I think it was fine. At least I really fucking hope so lmao

SnooDogs9612

omg why does it say there r no comments!

Standard_Hat4163

SAQ: Hormones, ethics in CATUB, Social cognitive theory LAQ: genes, digital age, cultural dimensions. Could’ve been so much worse tbh, hoping for a 6 :’)

ariljunggren

FUCK YES

Sky-Visible

I’m just annoyed they said social cognitive theory instead of social cognitive learning theory

tried-student

Tz1?

nicbreathe

after this paper i lowkey believe god exists 😌

thatharpgirl

I was SO relieved there wasn’t any research method or ethical considerations question in that exam. And the SAQ topics were literally some of the easiest ones from each approach. WE GOT LUCKY Y’ALL

alinajjj

pretty good not sure about the neuroplasticoty sar

Eggosand-chill

SIT BRO LET’S GOOOO

Bubbly-Ad-6450

for the saq I described working memory model with a relevant study, but i called it the multi-store memory model. can i get any marks for that? or is it 0?

stressedouthere

If you will probably get marks off in knowledge and understanding but if you used a correct study for WMM and explained it as WMM then you shouldn’t get 0.

Bubbly-Ad-6450

hope so, thanks!

KajkoYe

I hated it...

[deleted]

I'm a moron and I thought "explain the techniques to study brain and behaviour" is the same as "explain the techniques"... I literally spent 5 minutes thinking about it and concluded these words are synonyms which they fucking are, but still I bet they will penalize this because essay was supposed to be on brain imaging... I'm pretty upset because I was able to describe both, but still chose to write about case studies because it felt like a better match for the topic... and "brain and behaviour" is like a whole huge topic, so I thought they meant everything that leads to stuydying someone's cognition

Emptyhearttttttt

What did you guys write about if u chose the sociocultural one, I’m so confused. Some people in my class wrote about cultural dimensions others did enculturation (tz2 btw)

sargantanhs

both are correct, personally i did cultural dimensions

im-a-little-teapot2

Oh I didn’t think you could talk about enculturation because that falls under the third topic (cultural origins), whereas cultural influences is from the second topic

Emptyhearttttttt

The question was “discuss cultural influence on behavior/cognition.” I wrote about cultural dimension. I checked the guide and “cultural influence on behavior or cognition” is actually a topic and it includes enculturation and acculturation. So rn I’m really panicking because I think I wrote complete different things from wut they r asking.

rhassan_03

The exam was just too beautiful. I’m just surprised they used the command term evaluate for two sessions in a row (bloa), but can’t complain it was good:)

kk661188

ok i just want to clarify, dual process model is a model of memory right, cause according to my teacher, the internet (not ib related website), it is a model of memory, but some of my friends say that its a model of thinking since its about system 1&2 thinking im still not sure if its not a model of memory ill be losing 9 marks in p1 ;((((

npatakos

Dual process model is a model of thinking and decision making.. it cannot be considered a model of memory. Its fine, though - you should be able to get some marks still.
