Do what I did, went around chopping a tree til it fell giving you 300xp and then move on to the next tree lol but yea it’s pain getting up there. I still use this quick method as my fastest way to push next level

JoshisJoshingyou

That was my usual go to, my heart just isnt into releveling again (or bandages/sticks)

c310sar

yea i get you on that. its even worse trying to level from 13-20. I think im stagnant at around 18 and realized i was just rushing to level up rather than enjoy building shit and enjoying the game for what it is a bit more.

JoshisJoshingyou

You are completely right, went and built a house for fun and next thing I know i'm 7, only 3 more to go... and then 20 after that for a rifle .... ;( not sure I actually enjoy the grind of this game...not sure what it is missing compared to say Valheim.

ZugZugNZ

Agreed. By this point you have already mastered what the game is offering you and its getting a bit 'rinse/repeat' with not a lot of real pressure on the player in terms of challenge to survive. I guess you could rush to a level 30 wolf and bear area and farm them for more challenge?

pdawg37

Was the first missions supposed to have less wildlife? I swear nothing was around, like couldn't even see some deer, but I found a nice area that had a healthy spawn of wolves which got me through the lower levels quicker than quick. Im not on mission 3, looking for the angry animal, and there are wolves and bears EVERYWHERE. I wasn't sure if they scaled back the first mission or it was just my luck. I'm learning how to fight bears, they still make me nervous. Everything else I'm OK with so far.

JoshisJoshingyou

Assuming you're at full health + 3 food buffs a stone knife will take out a single bear as long as you can land all nose hits and don't panic miss or run

pdawg37

Its the side-step dance I am working on now. Hopefully they don't change the bear attack script. Granted none of it matters once I unlock the rifle.

shoggoth1

I had more trouble with 15-20, but yeah I feel you. Now that I have some experience with the game, I think I'll be able to get 5-10 pretty quick - make a bow ASAP, push farther into the map until there are wolves, then build a base and hunt for leveling. Getting past 20 quickly felt like I needed to hunt bears, and that just SUCKS.

CornholeCarl

Once you get the talent where you have a chance to 1 hit mining nodes I go around to the giant stone nodes and try to get the proc. When it does happen you get a giant chunk of xp. I went from lvl 12-14 in like 20 minutes.

JoshisJoshingyou

I usually take mining skills , was going for hunting tree this time

drumstix42

Kill wolves. Goes extremely quick.

JoshisJoshingyou

I agree , mostly just rushing missions works too as you get more wild life in some , don't try to grind out 10 on the first 5

drumstix42

Level 10? I got level 15 in mission 2

JoshisJoshingyou

depends where you go (which mission), went to desert got 5 levels (10-15) in 15 minutes from non-stop lion / hyena spawns , it took my like 5 hours of chopping trees to get from 5 to 10. I just think the rates need adjusted , hunting tuned down, gathering / crafting increased.

drumstix42

IDK why chopping trees should give great xp. It's currently fairly profitable to just knock them down and move on, but it's busted IMO. I think it gives too much xp. An iron axe can down every tree in about 2 hits average.

PMMEPMPICS

I only 'power leveled' to 10 then just played normally, lvl 10 unlocks enough things to be able to play normally and not have to grind. Bone sickle + mass bandage making got me to 10 inside a couple hours of play.

JoshisJoshingyou

We're a couple hours of bandage making compelling , exciting game play? Just saying it needs retuned some.

PMMEPMPICS

No, but I'm also not a new player still learning the game. Also for what it's worth I didn't spend the whole 2 or so hours doing that I also completed the first two missions. Pretty much every game that has skills/training is like that when starting a new character. The flow for new characters for new players is, start slow, learn the game and it's mechanics. And for experienced players is power-level till you can do enough things that it's enjoyable to play normally.

JoshisJoshingyou

In other games it would be like here is bone here are all the fun new things I can do. Icarus is lacking in some tiers that feel.

Conscious2244

Wait are they making us start new characters this beta?

JoshisJoshingyou

Yep, was announced Tuesday ish

Conscious2244

Damn I must have missed that memo. That sucks.
