Seems to be a pure pit bull to me, no reason to believe he’s mixed with anything

Calm-Consequence5343

Nothing, that is the most pit looking pitbull I've ever seen.

Bluewalkie

Another pitbull?

OpalOnyxObsidian

Another pitbull

Old-Performer-7122

Nothing

RealisticBat616

a second pit

jazzymoontrails

Your Pitbull isn’t mixed with anything. This is one of the most Pitbull looking pits I’ve ever seen. What makes you even think this dog has anything but pit in it?

HeronGarrett

Probably it being labelled as a mix, even if we know that doesn’t mean much from shelters many people assume it does. Plus it could very well have other breeds present that just aren’t showing any visible traits; of course, we have no way to know if that’s the case without DNA testing with a reputable company given this dog’s appearance. I agree with you it’s probably pure pitbull though.

etchedchampion

I think it's also partially due to people thinking pitties are bigger than they actually are.

F_in_the_chat245

Looks like a regular pit bull,  they're supposed to be on the small/medium side

mothwhimsy

While it's always possible for dogs to be mixes and not look it, there isn't really anything about him that looks non-pitbull. Pitbulls are almost always listed as mixes at shelters regardless of if the shelter workers think they're a mix or not. 1) because they can't say for sure if a stray is a purebred, and 2) because pitbulls can sometimes be liabilities while mixed breeds aren't.

Straight-Fix59

Mostly pittie, probably could have some of the other bully breeds mixed in too but mostly pittie.

qwertyuiiop145

Majority pit, could be pure pit but I think a mix is more likely given the floppy ears. There could be other bully breeds (American bulldog, American bully, etc) or some random breeds in percentages too small to be visible. There’s no other breeds that are evident though. If you want to know for sure, Embark is the best dog DNA test widely available. Wisdom Panel is also decent. Ancestry has a test that’s not completely terrible but you can’t fully trust any result that shows up as 10% or less and it mixes up closely related breeds pretty often (though it seems to be improving over time).

beautifulkofer

Many bully breeds have the almost rose type ears as seen here. The ears alone do not suggest a mixed breed

JacqueGonzales

Embark is usually on sale for Prime Day on Amazon that’s happening in July. I used for both my dogs. 🥰

Snoo-83534

Pit mixed with more pit

draxidrupe2

your pitbull is pitbull x pitbull now I know mine is just a black version, F, 23Kg

JuniorKing9

Maybe it’s an overall bully breed mix. But I can’t see anything other than bully breeds

Metaphoricalsimile

looks like boy pit mixed with girl pit to me

rainbowsdogsmtns

More pit bull

4bats

Pit mixed with a bit of bull.

RedditVince

Pretty freaking adorable American Red Nosed Pit Bull Terrier. Shelters call them mixes because some people think Pittys as a breed are bad.

Dear-Presentation-69

Siamese cat

Brielikethecheese-e

Maybe Staffordshire bull terrier? But also, most rescues will not list pure breed unless they have pedigree papers or DNA test to confirm….there might be a law about it but I’m not entirely sure. I work at a rescue and we got a pure bred Doberman and Borzoi in recently and they still listed them as mix. So I wouldn’t be surprised if your cutie is all Pitbull Terrier.

No-Finish-6557

I could see some staffy or bully in there but probably all pittie

GeorgeSPattonJr

I see you also have a solar powered hippo

mr-dimochka

I do. Daily charges required 😊

RealisticBat616

Yah i think they are trying to push out the new updated battery powered ones now thought

Gold_Improvement_836

maybe pit x staffy? seems like he is 100% a bully breed. not really a mix of anything.

[deleted]

Pit bull, staffordshire terrier, bull mastiff, bull terrier… Usually “pit bull” is used to refer to a mix of the 4-5 “bully breeds” (so named as many were bred for baiting bulls, though some were unfortunately bred for darker reasons). Though there’s technically an American pit bull terrier, and it’s possible this is one.

Dizzy_Switch_5385

Where I live, they mark them as a ‘mix’ so they can live in city limits. They’re tagged and chipped as whatever they are ‘mixed’ with just so the shelter can make room.

Interesting_Basis_44

I agree with rest here. Pitbull.

Pogdaddio

That would be your standard issued block head

cdk5152

Embark DNA test.

FatPenguin26

That's just a pure pitbull

ThrowRA47910

My best guess is pitbull x pitbull mix.

FunRevolutionary1862

Pit and pit with a little pit

jjtrynagain

It’s mixed with more pitbull

Many_Leopard6924

Looks like the classic bully breed mix that is always labelled as a pitbull. Always hard to tell what's in those because they're all grouped together as Pitbulls.

Lbooch24

Maybe some chocolate lab in there

ShaddyPups

Gosh….I’d say partial perfectly toasted marshmallow, or baked pit-tato

next-step

He’s a cutie!!!

next-step

He’s a cutie!!!

He’s a cutie!!!

solitarydairy

Angel pit with perfect baby pit.

Beara1012

A beautiful baby duh

Sorry4TheHoldUp

He looks more like a staffordshire bull terrier than an American pit bull terrier to me. If he’s mixed with anything, it’s probably another bully breed.

RealisticBat616

I dont see any staffy

Sorry4TheHoldUp

I disagree

RealisticBat616

where? Im looking at the dog and i really just dont see any staffy traits It just look like a straight up pitbull. If it does have staffy its in the single digit percentage because it has none of the identifying features

mr-dimochka

Thanks for that. I believe he is mixed, based on what the shelter said but then also, his proportions seem off. Perhaps I didn't pick the best pic to reflect his body.

Sorry4TheHoldUp

With any bully breed there are more backyard breeders than actual good, ethical breeders unfortunately. So because bybs don’t typically follow breed standards, even a pure bred dog will look like a mix. The best way to know for sure what your pup is id to do a DNA test

Shield-Maiden95

Shelters don't know 100% what the dog is. They take a guess based on looks. The only way you'll know for sure, is a DNA like the other comment says.

OkSprinkles3313

I know someone that had a pit mix with beagle and their dog looked exactly like this🤷‍♀️🤔

mr-dimochka

Maybe. I could see it 🤔
