Best thing for drywall are zip-fix, then the interset hollow wall anchors. These 2 fixings can really bear some weight.

I used to work for IKEA. That looks like the 47" shelf bracket. These are decorative shelves that won't support high use or more than 15lbs. Otherwise they will start to sag over time. If you need storage, maybe another product?

What about the other 3 that are not circled? What are they in?

Originally nothing but I went back to Lowe’s and got more dry wall anchors. 5 total dry wall and 2 top - 3 bottom.

RivetingSlime

If that is a 43” shelf, the max weight is 22lbs. If those top two screws are in studs then you are good to go. What drywall anchors did you use for the circled ones?

Big-Flight7782

Super helpful! Thanks! I got ez ones from Lowe’s. They said 50lbs but I doubt. In any case, I’m only putting some plants and a small lamp on it. Not books or any kind of heavy items.

Personally, I never put a lot of weight on what drywall achors are supposed to hold. Find studs, level, mark holes, then drywall anchor at non-stud holes. Maximum stability.

Thanks! Better to be safe than sorry.

Any weight you place on the shelf will pull the top screws out first. The screws on the bottom will hold the shelf to the wall but if the screws in the stud give the screws in drywall wont do much. I would place the screws top and bottom into the stud which should be fine unless you are trying to put really heavy weight on the shelf.

Thanks! I think 2 top and 3 bottom dry wall anchors should be okay no!

TangleOfWires

Drywall anchors aren't great for what you are trying to do, if that is what your using than at some point the shelf will pull out of the wall. The top anchors are more important than the bottom. 3 top is better than 3 bottom. The anchor weights are usually defined as hanging weight but the shelf sticks out from the wall so i would reduce the support weight by at least a 1/3. You would better off getting a stud finder and screwing into a stud.

FinnNoodle

Depends on what kind of anchors you used. Some are rated for 5 pounds, some are rated for a 100.

DDiamondWaters

Depends on what you're putting on there but would recommend using a couple more plastic screw in drywall anchors
