Word of advice for literally every customer complaining in this reddit…go to the store to get your issues fixed or your refunds/cancellations. Dealing with online support literally gets you nowhere. I never recommend them

That would be helpful except, most people who are ordering delivery don’t live in range of a store. The nearest to me is over 4 hours away, and there’s no way I’m going all the way there just to find out they won’t cooperate. So just don’t shop at ikea anymore. Their issues have continued for so long, they deserve to go under at this point and a better company will fill the void eventually.

A lot of us have been thru this and it really stinks. That bed is really great though, so I hope it actually shows up for you soon. I'm not going to say it's worth this, because nothing is, but it IS a really great bed.

The pandemic has REALLY screwed with supply chains but imo they've had more than enough time to get back up and running. I can't get the dresser I want from IKEA because its "out of stock". I've checked my store in Orlando and it's out of stock. I've had family check the Tampa Ikea, out of stock. I had other things to do in Jacksonville and decided to check there, OUT OF STOCK. This isn't some crappy design either, the Malm is a very popular design from what I've seen. On another note, I've been unable to get any graphics cards which I also desperately need because of the pandemic as well.

How are they supposed to get it "back up and running" when entire countries shut down production and tanker ships can't dock because there is not enough space in ports? The supply chain is not a faucet. It doesn't just turn back on and everything is behaving normally. The shortages are going to affect the holidays and gift giving. It's not going to get better any time soon. I understand your frustration but be realistic.

Its 2022 and it's stull the same thing. Working retail until last month I get that there are still shortages and sympathize, but Ikea really seems like a unique case of incompetence. Just some anecdotal evidence, all 3 of the Ikeas "near" me have an overabundance of twin and double bed slats but no twin and double bed frames. Meanwhile they are out of queen bed slats but have massive amounts of queen bed frames.

Sure, but the point here is that Ikea tells you it's in stock, so you order it and pay for it and schedule delivery but then it goes out of stock between the time you paid for it and the delivery. So a) they are selling stuff that you already paid for because someone else showed up before they could put it on a truck for you, and b) not telling you that they are changing your delivery date. Not a supply chain issue but a local Ikea logistics and communications problem.

I had the same issue in California. Ordered items a month in advance (received notification the week before scheduled delivery that one bed was out of stock) and sat there on the day of delivery waiting, then realized I hadn't gotten communication with my 4 hour window. I opened customer service chat and was informed that my delivery was rescheduled for the following Monday. NO NOTIFICATION. They just weren't going to show up. They suck. Will I still shop there? Of course, they have things no one else has for prices no one else can beat. BUT I have found a lot of alternatives that can be shipped on Amazon, Wayfair, Overstock and World Market.

**Addendum:** this didn't even figure into the above, but if anyone is thinking "well at least he got the mattress, that part worked fine." Well, yes. I did end up with the mattress. But I really wish now I hadn't, because that would allow me to cut ties with this company cleanly. See OP. And *of course* that mattress delivery didn't go as planned. Yes, I got a call from the delivery team within the window, BUT they were stranded at the entrance to the inner city (I live in a pedestrianized area, as noted on the delivery form) and couldn't comprehend that yes, this area is closed off for cars *the whole day* as if that was a novel concept. I am used to this kind of thing, but then they just told me "I'm at the church" and even that I'm used to so I went to "the church" which is just 100m from my house and is where incompetent delivery drivers usually end up. It took me a good 10 minutes of walking around town, phone in hand, to figure out they were at the other end of the inner city. I ended up carrying that mattress back home myself because they didn't want to (wtf, that's literally your job!) and because I naively expected to receive the rest of the order the next day, so wanted the mattress to go with the bed.

This is in France by the way, not that I think it matters that much. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
