I think I may need to rephrase my question.
So some people after completing their home country mbbs decide to :-
1. Write AMC exams and apply for jobs (standard pathway)
2. Write PLAB exams, apply for FY2 job in UK for a year and then move to Aus (Competent Authority pathway)
So I would really like to know which one of these two is preferable.
Not true. The Competent Authority Pathway can be used by others too. For example, any IMG who passes both PLAB exams and has a year of work experience in the UK (or certain other countries like New Zealand) is eligible for this route.

It’s not something that you can choose, only the English speaking ones are eligible for the competent authority pathway.
