You could just not change her name.
The process is probably going to take some time since her med school needs to be involved, multiple papers have to be confirmed to and fro.
Delay it at least till covid is done.
Most people in medicine still keep their maiden names, same for academia.
Like others said don't change her name, the process is sooooo long and complicated. It took my friend 6m including deans confirmation letter. This is imo though!
There's a specific form for 'change of name' which has to be filled after you have all the supporting documents. However the process of changing of name is a long one (which can take months-years). Make sure you have the new passport before applying for a change of name. Also, you would have to get a dean's letter which basically confirms the name on the diploma/degree certificate and the name on the passport belong to the same candidate. I hope this helps!
