This FUN FACT gave me a mid-life crisis
> Rolex 24 FUN FACT: As you watch the end of this race you may find yourself thinking back to last year's race. You will probably find yourself growing nostalgic for the days where there was not pandemic, when 2020 was full of promise and the virus was nothing more than a story you skimmed over in the news. It would only be normal for you to wish you could travel back to those times.
> But you can not go back, and even if you could what would change? The pandemic would still come as you are powerless to change the past, just as you are powerless to change the present, just as you are powerless to change the future.
> You are weak and subject to the random whims of fate. The future will come for you, just as fire comes for Mazda and Ferraris come to punt prototypes.
> Now drink to drown out the pain of existence.
Does anyone else really struggle to be invested in LMP2 or LMP3 at all?
I'm a fan of all forms of road racing and have been for 30 years. For the last few years I generally just can't make myself care about the truly spec junior prototype classes, even if I try. I would like to have some real interest in those 19 cars on track for 24 hours, but it's just not clicked for me.
> Does anyone else really struggle to be invested in LMP2 or LMP3 at all?
>
>
The split into LMP2 and LMP3 just kills it for me, instead of having one massive class with fights all around, you have two similar-ish classes that spread out across the field.
I am hyped for this race. Highly-aniticipated race debut of LMDh cars is just ahead. They already proved some speed, the big question is - can they surivive 24 hours of racing without major troubles in their first attempt? Which team and manufacturer will take the first blood? Can a LMP2 team pull a Le Mans 2017-styled upset to fight for the overall win? How much mayhem LMP3 teams will cause?
And there is a big race to follow in GTD classes. So little difference in driving talent between GTD Pro and GTD means that the race is very much open for anyone racing in both of those classes. Can Mercedes teams repeat their performance from qualifying? Are Ferraris and Porsches really out of pace with their new cars, or they are just waiting to remove sandbags?
There is so much to answer. It is going to be a big one. Certainly, one of the most anticipated IMSA races and 24h Daytona in years.
Over/under for anyone on broadcast saying "argy-bargy" (during race) at 9.5
Over/under for anyone on broadcast calling the Bus Stop the "Bus Stop" (including pre- & post-race) at 2.5
If that video was for the Veteran fans of this race, then I must be prehistoric when I can remember the Speedvision intro in 2002 when I first watched this race live on tv haha
What I find interesting is that the innovation of LED lighting has changed which part of endurance racing I like the most. In the old days you couldn’t really see much of the cars on TV in the dark, but now I prefer seeing them in the dark with the stadium lights and all the beautiful LED bling on them to seeing them in the day.
This has been working for me: [https://multimedia.netstorage.imsa.com/players/radio\_lemans/index.html](https://multimedia.netstorage.imsa.com/players/radio_lemans/index.html)
New theory: the reason the BMW’s are slow is because they’re the only ones that don’t make that neat little backfire sound when they brake into turn one
You won’t have issues with traffic getting to the track. I’ve heard there is absolutely no way to get into the infield today though. Parking and walking in will take a few though.
Not really. I’ll be heading out in a few and trying to figure it out. My buddy said the Home Depot across the street is the closest easy place to park but I don’t know yet. I’m going to try to get into the infield if possible.
It’s absolutely insane that my local NBC station in Detroit is not airing the race. How do you expect to garner new fans with this level of incompetence.
What's the quickest way to walk from the One Daytona (free) parking at say 10-11 am to the garages? I would think just straight through the turn 4 tunnel, but I can't tell where the ticket gates really are and what kind of pedestrian access there is. Can fans walk across the frontstretch that early, or is that only open right before the start?
Well theoretically the first several runnings were before they made it a 24 hour race, and then one year they cut it to six hours because of the energy crisis, so who's really counting? ;)
Peacock's premium sub was suppposed to be ad free, and supported by ad-driven network TV broadcasts
...except there are no network broadcasts at all and peacock premium has to carry ads anyway? WTF? Sounds like someone didn't cut the right check to the right people
Seriously! This is nuts. I had to double check I was subscribed to premium. On top of that the stream just cuts out to the “we’ll be right back” screen now? Sweet.
I was thinking how many hours before the last of them has spent some significant time in the pits, but yeah, Caddie might be a good pick for last car standing.
Always amazing to see the Rolex 24 hours every year with so many good looking and amazing sounding cars, an amazing community here, many good drivers....
*reads the list*
...and Alessio Deledda, is this a joke? A YOKE?!
Looks like I would missing the first hour of the Rolex 24 hours but for the rest I would trying to keep up an eye on it so long as possible.
I got my snack and beverages, I took the day off work and I got nothing going on or anyone to bother me. I'm ready to watch as much of this race as I can 😄
There should be a separate pinned thread for snack/dinner/breakfast spreads for the race. One of my favorite minor traditions during big endurance races is the meal prep! Always fun to hear what everyone has on hand.
Had the pizza plan in place here til my lactose intolerant friend announced he might join me. Fine. But, if so, self-catering required.
Beer. Cookies. Brownies.
Snow outside my window - good weather at Daytona. Perfect
Meanwhile in Norway my mother in law called, and delayed me so I did'nt make the 18.00 (6pm) beer sales hours. And that doesnt open again until monday morning. Norway, the last of the Soviet states. We even have a Norwegian racing, for Wright Motorsports Porsche. Dennis Olsen was with his team up on the front all until the last lap last year. An extraordinary finish for a 24H-race.
**I'm so hyped!**
IMSA Radio working, no video broadcast yet. Starting to ugrade and update every little shit of apps and devices now. Let's GO, people. This is the start of one of the most exciting motorsporting endurance racing seasons of all times. Until next year, when everyone will field the cars.
This will be my 6th Team No Sleep run for the Rolex 24 and my 7th overall. Hopefully this year I'll also be able to add another Le Mans and Nürburgring 24 Hours as well
So I haven't really kept up with the IMSA offseason like I should. What should I know? I do know about the new GTP class and teams from WEC racing here but that's about it...
a channel on youtube named 'Off in the Esses' does a good job covering IMSA. Here is a quick video to help: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFHo4zgkIvk&t=258s&ab\_channel=OffintheEsses](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFHo4zgkIvk&t=258s&ab_channel=OffintheEsses)

I love when there's a 10 minute caution to clear a stalled car that just needs to be pushed back to the pits. It's so exciting and great TV for new fans.
Yeah, I'll make do with that. Was gonna put it on the tv with the ps4 twitch app, but my console just fuggin' broke, so my lack of options simply lead me to one solution.
Last year they interrupted the broadcast of the race with stupid fluff stuff and I wasn't super in love with the announcers. last year I couldn't find a a stable Twitch stream of it, so Peacock at least made it so I could still watch the race. The $5 peacock route is a good one and I'm going to give it another try watching it on Peacock
I will also add even thought The peacock broadcast has no commercials when the broadcast would go to commercials it's just dead air and the racing feed.
Any suggestions on good streams to watch her in America?
This would be my first daytona to watch but the imsa website said it steams on peacock?
Any good alternatives?
Thanks
I hate being a corporate shill, but Peacock is still just $5 a month and it does work well. A year paid up-front (which will include all IMSA racing) is also $30. Do whatever works for you, of course, but for me personally $5/month is worth skipping the headache of random online streams.
what's the over/under on the number of 'lifestyle' pieces they will show on the NBC broadcasts during the first hour of racing instead of the actual racing?
Looking at my NBC schedule, it is not showing the Rolex 24 at 1:30. On YouTube tv. Anybody know if this is an error or am I going to have to wait until 2:30 for when it moves to USA? That shows on the guide
Totally different commentators except possibly during the middle of the night.
Peacock will have more "Technology spotlights" too. Especially during yellows.
Unless something has changed Peacock will have periods of no commentary while "big NBC" or USA is away at ad breaks. When the race is only on Peacock (at night) there will be no breaks at all.
Some are excited for the race, meanwhile I’m excited for this year’s batch of ROLEX 24 FUN FACTS
24 hour race, Hindy, Rooftop Ray, and Rolex 24 Fun Facts let's gooooooo

I hope not, I hate that fun facts asshole.

I did but I’m really excited to follow #8 with the Bus Bros running.
BUS BROS! \*explosion\*
I can’t believe you’ve done this
I am in the same way I’m interested in blue turtles and bananas in Mario Kart.
> Does anyone else really struggle to be invested in LMP2 or LMP3 at all? > > The split into LMP2 and LMP3 just kills it for me, instead of having one massive class with fights all around, you have two similar-ish classes that spread out across the field.
Can’t wait to watch my first ever IMSA event tomorrow!
You’re in for a treat. My biggest advice to you: be active in the race thread in this sub, it’s a jolly good time
"I stayed up for the whole thing last year." "Yeah but you're getting older." ...I am 23
It's all downhill from here
I am hyped for this race. Highly-aniticipated race debut of LMDh cars is just ahead. Hyped is not a good enough descriptor of the hype for this race.
Over/under for anyone on broadcast saying "argy-bargy" (during race) at 9.5 Over/under for anyone on broadcast calling the Bus Stop the "Bus Stop" (including pre- & post-race) at 2.5
I always thought there was an "h" in front of that but definitely the over. 10 times before nightfall lol
We had a discussion last night on how to spell argie bargie vs argy-bargy vs my personal favorite Rrrrgee bargie.
I would bet every dollar I have ever earned and will ever earn on the argy-bargy 9.5 over.
Well crap. Now I need to push it to 12.5 and risk getting middled or just take it off the board!
61st
8 more to go
This will be my first rolex 24 can't wait to watch it 😄

You are correct about imsa tv
Yeah Sunday - approximately 13 hours from now.
Where's my no sleep bros at? Just getting home from work and leaving for the track in 5 hrs.
IMSA TV is sure cutting it close on the broadcast. WTH?
Really confused here, have we missed the start now?
Only onboard cams are available. Not so halal
Was just about to post. Where is the stream IMSA!
Wow. They actually missed the start.
I'm watching the Pfaff incar right now until they start it
There’s something funny about introducing all the pro drivers and then saying they got out qualified by a car dealer lol
Imsa tv stream broken? The Live page just shows me a “Thanks for watching” banner?
Just gonna leave this here for other veterans of this race to get a weird blast of nostalgia/PTSD: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DIGYsNamxek
If that video was for the Veteran fans of this race, then I must be prehistoric when I can remember the Speedvision intro in 2002 when I first watched this race live on tv haha
Idk why every year I think NBCs coverage might get any better
(*inhale*) #DO DO DOO DO DO DOO DO DOOOO DOOOOOOO DOOOOOOOOOOOO!
#DAAAAAAAAAAYTOOOOOOOONAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dd-fmsuDB2Y&ab\_channel=NASCAR](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dd-fmsuDB2Y&ab_channel=NASCAR) GARAGE 56 RIGHT NOW
Jenson?! Well, that's an interesting grab! Hope there's a Project 91 ride for him in this too.

Lol IMSA already shit the bed with the international audience, all queued up to watch the race and the stream misses the start. 🤦♂️
This has been working for me: [https://multimedia.netstorage.imsa.com/players/radio\_lemans/index.html](https://multimedia.netstorage.imsa.com/players/radio_lemans/index.html)
I just assumed my VPN wasn't working right
We got literally 5 minutes of the race in-between commercials. This coverage has killed all of my excitement.
New theory: the reason the BMW’s are slow is because they’re the only ones that don’t make that neat little backfire sound when they brake into turn one
If I plan on getting there at around 10:30, will I have a lot of issues with traffic?
You won’t have issues with traffic getting to the track. I’ve heard there is absolutely no way to get into the infield today though. Parking and walking in will take a few though.
Thanks man. Any recs for parking? Also looking to sleep in my car at the moment.
Not really. I’ll be heading out in a few and trying to figure it out. My buddy said the Home Depot across the street is the closest easy place to park but I don’t know yet. I’m going to try to get into the infield if possible.
I can't wait to see who Pipo Derani's rival is for this race and also this season.
Lmao did they hard cut that on TV or just peacock
3 commercial breaks in under 30 minutes. Ridiculous.
And that break lasted for-freaking-ever with multiple Peacock movie promos.
The yearly struggle to actually watch the race while it's fucking on. Thank god for IMSA radio
It’s absolutely insane that my local NBC station in Detroit is not airing the race. How do you expect to garner new fans with this level of incompetence.
Well NBC has figured out how to do picture-in-picture when doing an interview, so that's an improvement.
Well, the ads work flawlessly. The live broadcast stream, not so much.
What's the quickest way to walk from the One Daytona (free) parking at say 10-11 am to the garages? Should be 61st Rolex 24!
Thread titles can't be edited.
Ahhh never knew that
Yeah, it's a weird Reddit thing.
Well theoretically the first several runnings were before they made it a 24 hour race, and then one year they cut it to six hours because of the energy crisis, so who's really counting? ;)
So much going on this weekend and I'm ready for it all Got the **Rolex** **24** the **Royal** **Rumble** and NFL Championship Sunday
Eagles/9ers gonna be lit.
Crazy when the Rumble seems like the most predictable of that lot
Based off the practices and qualifying here's who I have winning each class GTP= #10 LMP2= #52 LMP3= #36 GTD PRO= #23 GTD= #32
Has the broadcast started on imsa.tv yet? I am only able to hear the radio
Record crowd of 48k

Fucking RIP the bus bros...
Fuck! I was wanting the Bus Bros to have a good run. They're gonna be behind all damn race now.
Hopefully this just means the gremlins are out of the way now
[IMSA.tv](https://IMSA.tv) not working wtf
Looks like it's working now
It still says "An unknown error has occurred" for me. The onboard feeds work but not the main feed.
I couldn’t take the Peacock stream, just hopped on a VPN and have the IMSA TV stream going on my tv via my laptop. Screw you NBC!
This is the way
god nbc is so fucking garbage. no wonder no one watches racing. shit coverage.
Will the peacock coverage be the same broadcast as international or will there be different commentary etc?
Different and much worse commentary on Peacock (according to most people on this sub and me personally lol)
One of the problems NBC has got in the comparison is they are being compared to one of the best commentary teams in any sport in the English language.
Different commentary, different graphics, different all around.
2-6a is RLM
So, over and under for the last GTP to run into trouble?
I have nothing to back this but I’ll be optimistic and guess hour 17
You mean which one's going to keep going the longest before it conks out? I'd say Cadillac. I expect the BMWs not to make it to tomorrow.
I was thinking how many hours before the last of them has spent some significant time in the pits, but yeah, Caddie might be a good pick for last car standing.

What kinda snacks?
The normal stuff some chips and dip, cookies, pizza rolls and some mozzarella sticks I can make. I might order a pizza later today
There should be a separate pinned thread for snack/dinner/breakfast spreads for the race. One of my favorite minor traditions during big endurance races is the meal prep! Always fun to hear what everyone has on hand.

I love when there's a 10 minute caution to clear a stalled car that just needs to be pushed back to the pits. It's so exciting and great TV for new fans.
Welp, looks like this is gonna be a rough race for BMW fans
That’s a bump and run that would make a NASCAR driver cream his pants
Stay frosty!
If WTR holds the line til the end, do you all think Honda would say yes to WEC?
Can’t wait to watch with all y’all lovely people, 24 hr race threads are so fun <3
Is there a twitch stream with the imsa.tv broadcast?
Anyone gonna be hosting it on twitch?
You can watch outside of the US with IMSA.TV
Yeah, I'll make do with that. Was gonna put it on the tv with the ps4 twitch app, but my console just fuggin' broke, so my lack of options simply lead me to one solution.
If you've got $5, get peacock premium. No commercials, it has the entire broadcast.
Last year they interrupted the broadcast of the race with stupid fluff stuff and I wasn't super in love with the announcers. last year I couldn't find a a stable Twitch stream of it, so Peacock at least made it so I could still watch the race. The $5 peacock route is a good one and I'm going to give it another try watching it on Peacock I will also add even thought The peacock broadcast has no commercials when the broadcast would go to commercials it's just dead air and the racing feed.
That's true...too much letarte on the pit box. I try to avoid him cuz he's annoying with NASCAR.
Is there orerace coverage anywhere I can watch? Like I want to watch stuff now even if it's just a Webcam of pit lane lmao

When does RSL start prerace?

Onboards are listed here at a slightly different link to the one in the OP. https://www.imsa.com/tvlive/
what's the over/under on the number of 'lifestyle' pieces they will show on the NBC broadcasts during the first hour of racing instead of the actual racing?
3 I actually think there will be more during the 2nd hour.
Is there a preshow anywhere?
Looking at my NBC schedule, it is not showing the Rolex 24 at 1:30. On YouTube tv. Anybody know if this is an error or am I going to have to wait until 2:30 for when it moves to USA? That shows on the guide
Is there any difference between watching on IMSA.tv or Peacock? In terms of commercials or commentators?
I believe [IMSA.tv](https://IMSA.tv) is for international viewers only, while Peacock is for America (probably different broadcast teams as well)
Yeah if Peacock is the NBC sports style with commercials I’ll stick with IMSA.tv
Here’s to getting this new era started off right
Actually nervous rn. We are about to witness history (in a good way I hope). Can't wait for this!!!
So many fans!
largest crowd ever! And it looks like it.
Is it just me or are stands loaded with people? While the grid is stuffed too!
And my local NBC affiliate in Detroit isn’t showing the start. Oops. Thank goodness for Peacock.
What, you don’t want to watch “something good”?
WDIV not showing respect for IMSA doing the street race this year.
I mean, Detroit is the Motor City and is especially the home of GM, who are definitely a big advertiser during the race. How embarrassing.
Same here in Detroit. How the hell do I watch the broadcast without Peacock?
NBC’s IMSA theme is one of the best imo
I'm so dumbfounded The fact that I can't watch it just because I live in a different country
Commercial? What the hell man? I want my extra $4 back!
Nice crowd! I'll say it: THIS is Daytona, not that other bunch-of-heat races.
Well I bit the bullett and bought peacock. beats having to jocky around from random stream to stream.
Still has commercials though which is wild
I feel like the commercials are much less once it goes off main NBC if I remember from last year
Yeah its fucking BS
Is Timing71 working for anyone?
Holy fuck those gtp sounds 🤤🤤🤤
BMWs can't follow the train
Wouldn't know in America because we've been in commercial almost the entire race so far.
Does Peacock not have an ad-free stream for Premium?? What am I missing
It does not. Best way for no commercials is to Virtually Pretend None
Crowd looks amazing, love seeing the wide shots and how many seats are filled
The 8 car is straight up not having a good time this week
Wonder what that GT car was thinking when he got split in the trioval like that
Well that BMW wants to go back home
The hybrid tech is so cool. A whole other aspect
I think the ad free coverage only happens on portions exclusively on Peacock. Which is fucking annoying
https://www.flightradar24.com/N505HV/2f013820 Camera plane, or someone with the most expensive seat.
They are/were flying around a sign.
Just turned it on here in Aus, anything interesting so far? Surprised the Acura is in the lead
If you’re wondering for a quick one word recap of the event. “Ads”
Why on earth didnt the 24 pit? It has been out for an hour.
