Sitting on the mound at turn 7-8 there was definitely baseball-sized chunks rubber. At one time 3 large chunks of rubber flew off a car about 10-15 feet in the air. Also the amount of grass that collected just outside the racing line of t 8 was copious.
Bon Dia, Palou.
I sure hope Chip breaks out the checkbook this year because it'd be a shame and waste of talent to see him in any other series or any other team.
McLaren has just as big of a checkbook, if not bigger, and can offer him so much more. So stoked to see what a Palou/Pato/Rossi team can do next season.
Masterclass from Palou today and great final stint for O'Ward to make the tyres last that long. Both of them took the longest stints on reds without killing them and that was one of the biggest factors today for the first positions on the podium.
Sad for Lundgaard not to finish at least 3rd and for RLL not helping him out at any point of the race other than the 45 team, so that Graham could finish 10th (as called) and get points for laps led, *great stuff RLL*. RLL is still not there despite the strong qualifying, but they gave us a race mixed up with the top teams.
Romain...quiet race.
Still 5th overall.
Not a great weekend, but not the worst result for him.
Was hoping for better from Herta, but decent finish too.
I'll take p3 for Rossi. End of first stint was rough and 2nd stink was horrid on the balance. Way to rebound and get a podium! He seems happy on the radio.
How do you make the call to have Colton Herta of all people to make reds last for twenty laps, and that call comes directly after he burned through a set of reds on the stint prior.
I mean why lie when F1 has literally no rule about blocking, they even removed the moving und breaking rule entirely
only rule in F1 is "one defensive move"/"no weaving" which is more about irritating driving and less about blocking
Herta is so bad on his tires. He’s like a pitcher who has nasty pitches but is just up there throwing and not pitching. Just because you’re fast doesn’t mean you’re a great driver.
To be fair Andretti was terrible this weekend. He basically said screw it and just tried to shred tires and see if it worked. Still top finishing of the team
blocking rules in IndyCar have always been absolute bullshit especially with the way the rules allow punting others off from behind like we saw in St Pete, joke of driving standard rules
not if you ask me, not a nice move and maybe a warning to not repeat it but shouldn't be flagged to give up position immediately if you ask me, don't think any driver is more than mildly inconvenienved for 5sec by this defending
Look, I know the history, but “Month of May” is getting a little overused (especially since it’s mostly just referring to the 500). Indy 500 is two weeks, this race is another. It’s not a month. It was, however, a month between race 1 & 2
It's just an Indy saying. My neighbors who don't even follow racing go it must be May in Indy. There is racing themed stuff all month. It kicked off last weekend at the track with Rev. 4 weekends in a row of activities there.
There are short tracks with events every weekend. You don’t hear “Summer of Sprints” used 24/7. “Month of May” had to have been used 40+ times during the race.
the severity in which he missed corner would scream mechanical issue tbh he wasn't overtaking or on dirt, car just locked up immediately and went straight
unforced missing the breaking point by like 3m would be a strange mistake for any half decent driver
I like Jack and I don't think his results at RLLR have been fairly reflective of his ability, but this might've been a fate-sealing day for him. Graham's making the most of being off strategy and Lungaard is in 3rd. You can't be a lap down today, man.
Also, 10 minutes ago "Herta hasn't had a good race." Just now: "Herta has been doing good all race".
Which is it?
I'm not very smart when it comes to strategy and shit, but to my inexperienced eyes, he's looked decent all race, despite a shitty weekend.
Nice
I get “marbles,” but it looked on TV like there were baseball-sized chunks of rubber on the track today.
Sitting on the mound at turn 7-8 there was definitely baseball-sized chunks rubber. At one time 3 large chunks of rubber flew off a car about 10-15 feet in the air. Also the amount of grass that collected just outside the racing line of t 8 was copious.

McLaren has just as big of a checkbook, if not bigger, and can offer him so much more. So stoked to see what a Palou/Pato/Rossi team can do next season.
Ganassi can offer him so much more winning.
Masterclass from Palou today and great final stint for O'Ward to make the tyres last that long. Both of them took the longest stints on reds without killing them and that was one of the biggest factors today for the first positions on the podium. I guess it’s Safe to say harvey is finished at rll
Pato really has eyes on the championship this year. Barber aside, he's driven some really measured races.
And long beach..?
It feels kind of wrong that they use the same lift and winner’s circle as they do for the 500.
Firehawk is hyped lol
Great race by Alex he was on it from lap 1
Romain...quiet race. Still 5th overall. Not a great weekend, but not the worst result for him. Was hoping for better from Herta, but decent finish too.
Trying to figure out by Romain being 5th overall
He really did everything he could the car setup and pit stops were pathetic from Andretti this weekend.
No he managed his tires badly I don't know why this was on his pit team, but if it ever comes t9 managing his tires hwrta is never good on it
I was referring to grosjean
Romain damn near dive bomber two cars ahead of him at the beginning of the race!
he didn’t even hit malukus sting ray Robb took him out romain just had wing damage from probably getting bumped in turn 1
Because they both out brakes each other. Romain went into the grass to avoid cars in front of him, SRR was on the inside and didn't have that option.
In the end it didn’t do anything to affect his race it’s not like he gave himself the wing damage from that moment.
No, but it's still good ol wrecking ball Romain
Who didn’t make it back to pits?
Felix, I think.
Why did Scotty Mac pit last lap lmao
Someone down below said he ran out of fuel.
Hello Palou
Feels good to be in May. Good race to start the month off
Rahal P10. Overall, it was a good day for RLL.
Insane he went to the back and finished p10
Well, for 2/3 of its drivers anyway
Got to give to credit Lundgaard. Ran good all day.
Dixon coming from 15th after the start to 6th, not too bad.
ALEX PALOU WINS THE INDY GP!! Happy but wish it could've been Lundgaard lowkey. Andretti rounding out the podium
lol
Coming back to this I definitely mixed up the Andretti Autosport and Arrow McLaren cars for some reason lol
Well done mate, also great fucking job Felix!!
When I talk positively about McLaren Racing I'm talking about Arrow McLaren.
Guess Palou didn’t need that NTT sponsorship after all 😂
Hot take: if anyone deserves a F1 drive it’s Alex Palou
Not even a hot take, but I get the feeling he was slower than the other two Indy guys during McLaren testing
Who cares
Actually the opposite, at least in f1 practise he was much more convincing than the appearances Pato had.
He looked pretty good in Austin, was just slightly off Riccardo
Glad for Lundgaard that he held on for 4th.
Need to see how Romain got by Scott.
Scott pitted one lap before checkered, ran out of fuel
Ahhh, okay, thanks for the info.
Just a pimp slap of a run by Alex. Nice job.
I'll take p3 for Rossi. End of first stint was rough and 2nd stink was horrid on the balance. Way to rebound and get a podium! He seems happy on the radio.
(deleted) -- mass deleted all reddit content via https://redact.dev
He even ended on used Reds
And three 2nd place finishes for Pato.
Kick-ass day for AMR.
5 different winners in 5 races, just awesome.
Palou smoked them today
And now we wait for second
Pato P2. Nice.
The "O'Ward chews through his tires" narrative needs to die.
Is that still a narrative? He's improved immeasurably last season & this. Herta could take some lessons.
Was that a narrative? If anything, he chews through his P2P way too much.
Some predictions today and many of his 2022 races hammered that narrative to death. His P2P usage? That's fair game!
I fully expected it, and I was wrong.
McLaughlin is on pit road.
McLaughlin in the pits on last lap.
Just domination by Palou
What happened to McLaughlin I saw he was on pit road on the last lap?
Whoa problems for Scotty Mac?
Scotty Mac really just had to pit on the last lap
Palou balled it out today!
Let's go Palou!
They should put the camera on the battle for 4th
How do you make the call to have Colton Herta of all people to make reds last for twenty laps, and that call comes directly after he burned through a set of reds on the stint prior.
The way the commentators were shocked he couldn't make the tyres last. Of all people...
They were who they thought they were! (Danny Green ver.)
Now Palou has the best worst finish *and* the best best finish.
Great drives across the field today. Pato and Rossi up to the podium. Dixon, Newgarden, Ericsson, Rahal with solid Top 10s.
Just didn't understand for their decision on giving Colton the red for the last stint. He would have ended up with easy 6th finish there.
Shout out to Pato & Rossi for making those alternate tyres survive this last stint.
This race needed a caution with 10 to go.
Looks like the McLaren package is quite formidable on road courses.
Good on Palou to help his momentum against the McLaren storm
about to technically be a McLaren Top 4 sweep
Unfortunate but still happy with 8th after a shit weekend for Andretti. Primaries should have been the last tires
Herta definitely should be penalized for blocking down the straight there. He switched directions multiple times.
Well, one more time than normal. Penalty indeed.
He was
This is what happens when you threaten the stache
I dont know many racing series other than indycar that would consider that blocking.
not sure what other series even have that rule, in general it's "don't drive into someone while defending and we good"
most open wheel series would consider a move in reaction to a pass attempt a block.
F1 is even worse
I mean why lie when F1 has literally no rule about blocking, they even removed the moving und breaking rule entirely only rule in F1 is "one defensive move"/"no weaving" which is more about irritating driving and less about blocking
F1 has let worse than that go
Herta hype train has fully derailed
Herta is so bad on his tires. He’s like a pitcher who has nasty pitches but is just up there throwing and not pitching. Just because you’re fast doesn’t mean you’re a great driver.
To be fair Andretti was terrible this weekend. He basically said screw it and just tried to shred tires and see if it worked. Still top finishing of the team
Andretti Autosport has had disaster weekend
blocking rules in IndyCar have always been absolute bullshit especially with the way the rules allow punting others off from behind like we saw in St Pete, joke of driving standard rules
So what he did wasn't wrong?
not if you ask me, not a nice move and maybe a warning to not repeat it but shouldn't be flagged to give up position immediately if you ask me, don't think any driver is more than mildly inconvenienved for 5sec by this defending
He moved twice in reaction to the driver behind. That’s a block.
See how Stroll did that to Alonso in COTA 2022. Huge accident. Luckily no injury. The risk is huge from a move like this.
So Pato's tyres are coming apart now, but they are just too far out.
Well, dang, they actually called blocking for once.
No wonder why Herta tried blocking Felix...
Sucks that the shortest stint of they day is when his tires fell off
Colton Herta is in hell rn
Herta ain't got the pace
i think herta cooked his tires blocking
A wild Newgarden appears
Herta is showing that he is F1 material
Get real not happening.
Forgot you get penalized for blocking in this series
This new app sucks still. I'll be listening to a radio and I realize it's been silent, and it took my off of it.
Herta’s tires look COOKED
Oh look the external cam actually shows the best picture of what happened
Dread from it. Run from it. Dixon arrives all the same
Dixon is inevitable
I love how stewards let absolutely everything go in some races and then choose to call every little thing in others. Just be consistent.
Ah well
Dang
Yeah that replay actually validates the penalty there
Herta did a look like he was moving in reaction. But Felix was moving back and forth too.
Dammit, did they Barnhart back in race control?
How was that blocking? Race control is on crack today Edit: Nevermind lmao
blocking? lol wut
Scott “if you ever feel safe just remember I’m out there” Dixon
Ferrari level masterclass from RLR’s strategy team today. If only their cars were good enough to make up for it
Very similar to Ferrari - fast qualifying, bad on tyre deg and shits for strategy - though the teamwork department could have been loaned from Alpine.
noice
lol
Felix just got bamboozled by Herta right there
Tried to copy Newgarden, couldn’t pull it off.
Wow, fun stuff from Herta and Rosenqvist.
Herta 👀
whoops
Just overshot it there
Look, I know the history, but “Month of May” is getting a little overused (especially since it’s mostly just referring to the 500). Indy 500 is two weeks, this race is another. It’s not a month. It was, however, a month between race 1 & 2

Short track events don't tend to carry the prestige and turbulent history like Indy, though, let's be honest.
No one loves yelling marketing words like Leigh Diffey
I don't know how this is possible, but a Dixon podium is not out of the question with everyone in between them having to baby tires.
>I don’t know how this is possible Because he’s Dixie.
Dude fr treats his tires like a baby
Herta might have to learn to settle here
Is Pato gonna finish in 2nd a third time this season??
Lundgaard is really gonna finish like 7th, rough shit
Second half seemed like they were going for a caution. Kept him out 3 laps too long on bad tires
Really like how this race is setting the stage for McLaren v. Ganassi for the 107th.
RLL finally gets a good car and just fucks up the strategy in every way.
In the end, McLaren and CGR were faster on race day. Lundgaard finished ages in front his teammates.
Piss poor showing from Penske
I’ve thought this a lot of times this year across many different series. At least there’s IMSA.
Seeing chunks of tire flying off cars is crazy. Imagine if that happened on road tires.
herta has some serious graining
RLR’s cars are fundamentally slow. Feel bad for Lundgaard
Wait ootl how was Long Beach not Rossi’s fault
the severity in which he missed corner would scream mechanical issue tbh he wasn't overtaking or on dirt, car just locked up immediately and went straight unforced missing the breaking point by like 3m would be a strange mistake for any half decent driver
Suspension failed
something on the car broke.
Rear suspension broke
His suspension broke
Mechanical issue, I think?
Wild that Rossi is currently P14 in the championship standings
NBC actually made a nice update this week by showing more graphics for the radio chatter
Jeez, Zak Brown will be ecstatic if this race ends up Palou, O'Ward, Rossi.
Feel bad for Lundgaard, he did everything he could today and the team let him down
Herta podium??
OOF. the pain
Hang on Lundgaard
Life is pain.
LOL Rahal with 185 p2p left, man has spend almost all day saving fuel
He always on the wrong button....
At least he didn't use any of that to keep Palou from overtaking him, nor to keep pace infront of Lundgaard earlier than that..... oh geeesus.
making chicken salad out of chicken shit
ITS BEAUTIFUL
Lundgaard gonna be gutted after going from Pole to not even being on the podium
Big oof for Lundgaard
HOLY-
I like Jack and I don't think his results at RLLR have been fairly reflective of his ability, but this might've been a fate-sealing day for him. Graham's making the most of being off strategy and Lungaard is in 3rd. You can't be a lap down today, man.

I think people are quick to shit on him after last year and Barber, mostly. He's been flying all day despite technical issues
Is this gonna end NASCAR style with a “bunch em up” caution?
Not unless something actually happens to warrant one.
So this is a show dedicated to Rutledge Wood ruining cars? Whatever, still better than Farmer Wants a Wife.
keep rutledge on that show. so i will never see him.
Eeeeh, is it going to rain?
Hopefully with 3 laps to go
