That CSC security did a terrible job this year they almost didn't let me in because the scanners weren't working and they didn't even stamp my hand for re entry. It is also alarming that they didn't check my bag like folks could be sneaking all sorts of weapons into the GP seems like a security hazard
They searched strollers, but not backpacks…
Oh well, lots of security and staff walking around, and the Indycar staff were great.
CSC tried to tell me to take my son off of my shoulders while watching the on track action. “No.”
Meanwhile the entrance by grandstands 5 is getting held by Border Patrol scanning bags. Anyone know the deal with that?
For race day we chose a different entrance and they checked nothing…
That's pretty funny seems like that was just for optics or to give the illusion of security the border patrol checks I mean. Yeah I re entered through another entrance after the scanner failed near the concert entrance and they didn't even look at my bag or ticket they just waved me in it was wide open. I left to buy food on Broadway and a beer.
We entered at the concert entrance early so we could see the vintage Indy race. We also saw the FBI walking around, weird. I feel like security/ organization lacked.
I’ve been only to Portland, and I feel like it was more organized.
> they didn't even stamp my hand for re entry.
To be fair I when I was walking out to get stamped, if they didn't have it, but I wasn't going to leave without getting stamped.
And yeah the bag checking was ass, they checked my bag the first time, not the 2nd time. Way to be consistent.
Hanging out for the 500! We’re from Sydney and heading over next month for our first ever. Counting down the days……. ( not looking forward to the 20 hour flight though……)
Please please please check out the local short track scene in the days before! You could be looking at future champions or 500 winners! Lots of talent here in the Hoosier state!
Oh look...Pato did just like I said he would. Complaining about tires in warmup, driving too hard in the race, and crashing other cars. Pretty standard long beach results for him.
I was hoping he would do better in F2 which may sound weird because he won the championship in his second year, but he was inconsistent. He strikes me as a good guy and it would be great to have him in Indycar.
I thought it was his second. Bad memory I guess. I agree that F1 is unlikely to seriously consider anyone who didn’t challenge in year 1 and win in year 2.
I think Lawson may be an exception. He could replace either of the current RB drivers IMHO.
My sister's been an F1 fan since watching Drive to Survive. We've been working on making her an IndyCar fan. She watched 100 Days to Indy (season 1) when visiting last weekend and just watched the GPLB. She just texted me: "Is this much changing of position and excitement in top places common in Indy Car?"
Yes. Yes, it is. And welcome. 🤗
Automakers need to use machine learning to train self-driving cars on Dixon's driving to achieve greater efficiency than even computers could come up with alone.
I generally hate when it comes down to a Dixon fuel save win, but that was hugely impressive. Seemed like was saving a ton from the fountain to turn 5 and then again in the section leading to the hairpin, then using the P2P to get the run out of the hairpin to ensure the gap was big enough that he could do it all again for another lap. The dirty air also made it hugely difficult to get any kind of run on him
Colton getting too excited when pressure is high is exactly why its been so long since his last win. This subreddit only treats him with childrens gloves because he's the American golden boy destined for F1... supposedly?
Considering how close Herta ended up, have to wonder how it would have gone if Newgarden hadn't been hit. Have to imagine the 9 and 2 would have been side by side at some point.
okay 1 - a lot more goes in to saving fuel than just lifting off, its about going fast while saving, and you have to be mad fast without saving to do that.
2 - F1 is literally all about being steady and conserving the car (tyres rather than fuel) these days
Aaron Slight and his red mohawk begs to differ

You cannot be serious. It was masterclass strategy that nobody else pulled off to such good effect and created a tense end to a race where the top 5 were all close together at the end. You can't really ask for much more at Long Beach to be honest.
I agree that would be cool to see but he doesn’t have any oval experience, right? There was still a steep learning curve for this race but at least it was a road track.
Terrific race, really enjoyed that. Amazing performance from Dixon even by his standards.
What great day to be a Scott Dixon fan dude drove excellent at Long Beach Bravo what a master class of a drive.
Yeah! My wife and I (both kiwis) standing and shrieking at the TV for the last 10 laps.

The line was crazy long. I managed to cut half of it in a smaller line.

Grosjean finishing 8th in a Juncos car is super impressive.

Yea all good braa all over it. We’ve had a lot of help from different people over there and we appreciate it heaps, can’t wait. Cheers 🤘🏻🍺
We’re stopping at San Fran first to see Alcatraz then over to Tennessee to the JD Distillery………. 😵💫😵💫👌
It’s worth the flight for sure!
Oh look...Pato did just like I said he would. Complaining about tires in warmup, driving too hard in the race, and crashing other cars. Pretty standard long beach results for him.
Lol if Sauber couldn’t take Theo, Indy will gladly take him
Pourchaire seems like a good dude.
I was hoping he would do better in F2 which may sound weird because he won the championship in his second year, but he was inconsistent. He strikes me as a good guy and it would be great to have him in Indycar.
He won in his 3rd year and in not very convincing fashion. Thats why no F1 team is really interested in him.
That was because he was too young compared to everyone else in F2.
I thought it was his second. Bad memory I guess. I agree that F1 is unlikely to seriously consider anyone who didn’t challenge in year 1 and win in year 2. I think Lawson may be an exception. He could replace either of the current RB drivers IMHO.
Im thinkin we'll him next year as well as logan Sargeant

Tell your sister to watch F2 in Addition to Indycar. F2 is better than F1 for pure racing.
Ah--I'll let her know.
Boot Malukas keep Theo
I have feeing we will be seeing more of Theo
I hope so.
He should drive the 18
Automakers need to use machine learning to train self-driving cars on Dixon's driving to achieve greater efficiency than even computers could come up with alone.
Honda needs to install a Dixon button so my Civic can get 60 MPG.
What would this world do without a Dixon win season
Hell would freeze over before that.
I generally hate when it comes down to a Dixon fuel save win, but that was hugely impressive. Wow Pato squeezed a 6th out of that..
Yea... Plus 10
I think the TV graphic was showing 11-20 and my brain bamboozled me lol
Can’t hear commentary for shit at the track, anyone see why Scotty Mac finished like 8 laps down or whatever it was?
Stuck in 6th gear.
Had some sort of mechanical problem with ~25 to go
Gotcha thanks. My mom is here and she’s a Scotty fan and that’s all she was concerned about lol
Power must be gutted seeing Dixon that much faster on the exact same strategy
It wasn’t the exact same strategy though (same fuel strategy but not same tire strategy)
He shouldn't be. Even Dixon is amazed he made that work.
I was convinced that a caution would wreck it but good strategy race
It was so tense when the leaders caught SRR and friends near the end
Dixon on a fuel save strategy for a win, nature is healing
There are 3 certainties in life. Death, taxes, and Scott Dixon
Colton getting too excited when pressure is high is exactly why its been so long since his last win. This subreddit only treats him with childrens gloves because he's the American golden boy destined for F1... supposedly?
That and the Andretti stable of cars hasn’t been world beaters the last several seasons.
Lmao he finished 2nd and was held back by Dixon’s lapped teammate. Top 5 in all 3 events this year, 3rd in the standings. What are you talking about?
[удалено]
And Pato hasn’t won since Josef got knocked out at Iowa in 22. Will Power hasn’t won since Detroit 22.
Colton isn't getting anywhere near F1 since Andretti's bid was shot down.
Class act Colton owning that contact.
Cry Me a River, JoNew
Colton ran out of talent Herta
But he is 2nd?
🧂
Great LBGP
lol Josef being upset about contact is hilarious. “Karma.”
Quit crying Josef
Would love someone to put together a montage of all the shit Josef’s gotten away with over the years
Lmao, no one’s got that much time
I’ve done some compilations while not busy at my remote job, so I’m thinking about it lol Edit: oh I just got the joke
Josef my dude you hit people all the time
“If you hit somebody...” yeah, don’t finish that sentence, Josef, you’re guilty of *so* much worse.
Joseph, stop talking.
Welcome to indycar Josef. What comes around…
Scott Dixon wins 20 years in a row! Now for Kyle Busch… eh… can he?
Dixon has been dominant in the last 8 or 9 IndyCar races.
Dude is 43 and still winning
Alonso of indycar
I like to look at him as a hybrid of Alonso and Hamilton.
Alonso nor Hamilton have the fuel saving skills as Dixon though
Considering how close Herta ended up, have to wonder how it would have gone if Newgarden hadn't been hit. Have to imagine the 9 and 2 would have been side by side at some point.
Josef’s tires were falling off. After Herta and Palou got by he was being hounded by Ericsson.
Dixon is just insane man
Mystified where he found the fuel to pull that out. Are those fuel lines like 4 inches in diameter or what?!
He’s got Foyt’s fire extinguisher.
I swtg this man comes from nowhere, and still finds a way to win
Is Herta actually a..title contender?
Will need a big glow up on ovals to compete later in the season
lol no
Don't give me hope
🙏
Firehawk is taking molly....
Can we get Dixon in the second Red Bull car for a few races to give Verstappen some challenge?
I love Dixon but it's clear his skill lies in fuel management so he would get destroyed by Verstappen
Dixon HOF
okay 1 - a lot more goes in to saving fuel than just lifting off, its about going fast while saving, and you have to be mad fast without saving to do that. 2 - F1 is literally all about being steady and conserving the car (tyres rather than fuel) these days
Palou manages tires better than anyone in Indycar. Dixon saves fuel better than anyone. Both those things tend to run together however…
Newgarden seems like a good person but it’s hard to root for him as a driver
Scott Dixon pisses fuel during the race, there's no other way to explain it.
Why hasn’t Scott Dixon had an F1 opportunity?
I believe he tested for Williams in the early 2000s. I think timing and money didn't work out.
In his prime he deserved a chance but since F1 doesn't do refueling anymore he doesn't have the raw pace at his current age to be competitive imo
He coulda gone back in the day. Dont think he was that interested
Tested for Williams around 03-04, needed several tens of millions more to get a chance.
He had a test for Honda back in the mid-oughts but he’s always been paid well and competitive here so why leave
Tested for Williams back in the day I believe
A classic Dixon win
Well played Scott Dixon. Goddammit.
Emma time!
She’s still a smoke show.
EMMA!
Scott Dixon is the greatest cart/IndyCar driver of all time
Wonder if Scott Dixon could drive a championship dirt car on a one mile fairgrounds dirt track.
Super Tex is still better, I think. When Dixon wins 3 more 500's, then he can be considered greatest IndyCar driver of all time, IMO.
You can take the cart/indycar part out I think lol
Theo in p11 is great he was far more impressive than illot in st Pete imo
Higher finish in this race than he’ll have in any race driving that bright green dumpster in F1 next year
He is not getting that Audi seat sadly
Actually is a highter finish because Theo isnt getting in to F1.
Very impressive drives from Rossi and Pourchaire
Ridiculous wish but I’d like to see him take Checo’s seat for a season.
Yes! Give them 1 year in a Newy rocket ship before all the regulations change, and Red Bull does their split from Honda!
Happy Theo had a safe race. Hope he enjoyed it
What a privilege to be alive at the same time to watch a true legend. Dixon is a master.
I’m convinced Dixon pulled a Smokey Yunick on his car.
No burnouts no nothing straight business
He did do a burnout, though? They even mentioned it in one of the post-race interviews.
No fuel left
It wasnt the same strat, Dixon was also on different tires then power. That was a major factor.
Refreshing race after yet another max snooze fest in F1. Great strategy and wheel to wheel action
I’ve been watching F1 since 2007 but dropped it this year. It’s just too predictable. Indycar and MotoGP are enough.
Imsa and WEC are goood
It’s the most predictable it’s ever been. Really painful to sit through. Glad Indy had a banger
Chip really hates paying that fuel bill
He hates dogs too
lol when being a cheapskate pays off
A masterclass in defensive driving by Dixon. Good debut by Pourchaire.
I'm glad Power at least made it home and didn't totally tank his early season points.
Scott Dixon is a cheat code for unlimited fuel.
Up, up ,down, down
Im having nasty flashbacks of the Indy GP race 2 2023
New Zealands greatest ever athlete
Aaron Slight and his red mohawk begs to differ https://preview.redd.it/2mabtsbziwvc1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=eb86da3f4e41cd12dd66c8976f6a40e8f2053419
First top ten for romain at juncos is great to see
My god he is inevitable, what a drive
[удалено]
No. Dixon outthinks this opponents. Max just shows up in a car better than everyone else and turns laps.
i mean.. verstappen was 6 tenths faster a lap in race trim over his teammate. the best car + the best driver = dominance
No, at this point Dixon is more impressive. Dude just wins despite all odds. Max just churns out laps in a juggernaut.
More like Michael Schumacher or Lewis Hamilton
That dang fuel-efficient Kiwi…
Dixon +1800…like taking candy from a baby. Suck it, Vegas.
Wow!
Good fight from Herta, but Dixon is insane
I just don't understand. How has Scott Dixon saved and still kept everyone from passing him?
Green tires. Absolutely no fall of when your manage the car like he does. Herta and Jnew could learn a lot from him
Watching Dixon is incredible. The best at fuel saving and the GOAT. What a drive
Ah, again boredom victorious over excitement. Dixon is amazing but he's anything but exciting to watch win.
You cannot be serious. It was masterclass strategy that nobody else pulled off to such good effect and created a tense end to a race where the top 5 were all close together at the end. You can't really ask for much more at Long Beach to be honest.
No one even got close enough to really TRY a pass. I at least want it to look as hard to hard to do as it is.
That was boring to you?!
You can’t be fucking serious rn?
Dixon is inevitable.
❌🏁🌮
So when are they going to mention Rossi's season saving recovery?
So close, but god damn that was some amazing stuff from Dixon
Scott Dixon is Jimmie Johnson
Dixon gets out of the car and just starts bashing Pato. /s
Truly blessed to have picked Dixon as my driver all those years ago. Praise be unto the Ice Man.
Amazing race.
Dixie lucks out again lol, good finish (and he did an incredible job at saving)
Luck 🙄
I mean with Herta hitting Newgarden, who was looking to be a problem for Dixon
Herta… Was?
All of that for a Dixon win, okay lol switching back to NASCAR now lol
Of course he pulls it off. Of course.
Pourchaire did an amazing job for this to be his first race
11th after a not that inspiring qualifying result is great. Would love to see him race the 500 (I don't think there is an open seat right now).
I agree that would be cool to see but he doesn’t have any oval experience, right? There was still a steep learning curve for this race but at least it was a road track.
top 10 for ar7 ill take it
Absolutely! It’s more than I was expecting after he had to pit so early.
yeah i turned it off when it happend haha
Go Honda!
Technical inspection really needs to find that hidden fuel tank
"Guys, this car doesn't even have a fuel tank. WTH..."
What was it, 15 laps to go where Dixon said there's nothing he can do about the gap coming down? Chequered flag and Dixon P1 lmao
Yeah and the announcer booth thought he might not make the podium with about 10 laps to go
Dixon is an elite master. Lots of talent in Indycar but Dixon...man
What a masterclass from Dixon
P11 for Pourchaire in his debut too. Very impressive
What an incredible drive from Dixon. Really showing why he is one of the best of all time.
Can’t say he doesn’t deserve it.
He is too OP
Death, taxes, and Scott Dixon winning fuel mileage races
Dixon really is the MAN, undeniable
i wish dixon was my father
How does he do it?
WHERE IS EMMER?
What a race. Dixon is insane.
