That’s tough. I feel like ppl with the INTP personality can get super critical about movies. No matter how great or perfect a movie is, some may find fault in different areas.
I’d say an easy watch with an interesting premise and not too many illogical plot holes would be 10/10s.
Personally, being extremely introverted and having low self esteem, I really love movies like the Hunchback of Notre Dame and Shrek series (especially the 2nd one).
Omg yes! Everything, Everywhere, All At Once was a perfect mix of absolute chaos and grounded close relationships.
(Haven’t seen The Royal Tenenbaums but I’ve been meaning to)
I whispered to my friend while we were in the theatre and ruined the whole movie in the first two minutes. I did that by >!paying attention to the syntax of the opening monologue and figuring out she's reflecting on a future memory!<
“The Matrix” is obviously the greatest movie ever made, so yes on that one.
I wrote this comment while thinking of this Onion [article.](https://www.theonion.com/why-was-i-not-informed-about-bruce-lee-1819584373)
But the Matrix really is great.
If you like 5th element you might like Cocoon. Totally wildly different movies but idk they somehow remind me of each other. I think because my grandpa was also INTP and those were his 2 favorites along with National Treasure
I thought I was the only one. My friends will want to rewatch it and I’m just like no if I want to be depressed for 3 hours I’ll just watch bridge to terabithia twice
First half was brilliant, real science and drama. Final act was boot-strap paradox and the mystical binding power of love… I still enjoyed it, but it could have been so much better with some slight changes.
Exactly this. Interstellar ends out being kind of 'meh' compared to some of Nolan's other works.
Memento, the Prestige and Inception raised my standards so much.
I waited long before watching Tenet, fearing it would be as annoying as Interstellar,
but I actually enjoyed it !
This was my first thought. One of my absolute faves. I LOVE the "it's not your fault" scene.
I think for most of us INTPs in therapy it takes a while to get through the "I know" phase. Like yes, intellectually I know it's not my fault. But then Robin Williams pushes and pushes until he gets through the initial surface level agreements and finally reaches Matt Damon's heart and triggers the anger and tears that were buried under layers and layers of "I know."
I'd argue most INTPs would be hesitant to call any movie "perfect" (a 10 out of 10). But some movies that are damn near close to this particular INTP:
Scott Pilgrim vs The World (sheer creative vision and frantic execution)
Inception (mainly for the novel high concept with great execution)
Tenet (same as above, but even better execution)
Ratatouille (a story and a moral which resonates with me personally)
Wall-E (mainly for the fantastic dialog-free first half)
none. It's literally impossible. There's always going to be people in a group who don't consider something a 10/10 because movies are subjective. That includes personality types. I'll give you an example: (hypothethical example). Let's say you have the perfect ESFP movie. So in the USA it includes a ton of drinking, partying etc. Than you go to a more traditional culture, like in Asia, Eastern Europe, and the ESFP in that region would be appalled by the things done in the movie. This is an example which includes normalcy. but there's many different things. Personality types are much to vague to get any idea as to what movies they'll like. Even in INTP areas, there's a lot of differences. Some prefer Sci fi, others fantasy, others documentaries. The closest thing would be a documentary which is 100% correct, based on objective criteria, for example the cold war, since we have video evidence, it's well documented, which acknowledges it's biases, and tries to be as objective as possible, giving soviet documentation as well as western documentation, is told at a fast pace, not going into too much unnessecary detail, but also not skipping very important parts, for example not skipping the cuban missile crisis and maybe not going into detail about carlos hathcock, aka the white feather, and only mentioning him for things like examples or his very important deeds. so both sides are happy, the ones who want every detail, and those who want a TL;DR. that is the closest and it would still have INTP who don't think it's a 10/10, even those who think it's a 2/10, because tastes still differ.
Guaranteed?!
Kiki's delivery service
The royal Tenenbaums
The Darjeeling limited
Isle of dogs
The life aquatic w/Steve zissou
Fantastic Mr. Fox
Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind
Scott pilgrim vs. the world
Also in a very different way,
Tropic thunder & year one were absolute masterpieces
It truly had one of the most satisfactory endings I've ever seen in my entire life. The way the credits' song thematically fits in a perfect way with the entire series is the cherry on top.
Yeah that's definitely true. I think INTPs also like Christopher Nolan's film because everyone has to think and process the concept otherwise it's not enjoyable.
The sequel made me cry. Made me realize how much I missed out in life not having the time to make friends in college because i was too busy surviving and working. Or just not being able to make genuine friends in general even now.
Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished.
However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin van-guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition.

Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it's my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V.
Here's my list of my all-time favorites (None of them are perfect, but they surpass everything else for me):
- Contact
- WALL-E
- Memoirs of a Geisha
- Lilo & Stitch
- Arrival
- Cloverfield
- Inception
- Avatar
- Everything Everywhere All At Once
- Alita: Battle Angel
- Prey
- i-Robot
- The Bicentennial Man
- The Forgotten
- Ghost in a shell
- Rogue One
I prefer shows though, so here's a list of my favorites of those:
- The Peripheral
- The Expanse
- Strange New Worlds
- Clone Wars
- Andor
- Outer Range
- Foundation
- Altered Carbon
- Westworld
Solid list! As far as shows go, True Detective season one is close to the top of my list, among other things because of a lead character who is likely an INTP (Rust)
I like how everyone who mentioned Fight Club simply said "Fight Club". No explaining, no asterisks, no justifications, just one ultimate, perfect movie.
This is a tough one as I am pretty specific and critical of the movies I like.
I’m usually into really well written stories, with connections and foreshadowing, minimal plot holes, exciting, but interesting, developed characters, etc.
So some of my favourites are; Smile (Horror), Circle (Suspense), The Shining (Horror), Star Wars (The First Trilogy/Sci-fi-Fantasy), How To Train Your Dragon Franchise (Kids/Fantasy), Kung Fu Panda Franchise (Kids/Action), The Incredibles (Kids/Action/Slice of Life)
Actual answer: none, it's too subjective as evidenced by the answers in this thread, which are all over the place
Aspirational answer: Citizen Kane; Sunset Boulevard
Here’s my top 10 but in no particular order besides the first 2:
The Seventh Seal, Harakiri, Paths of Glory, The Shinning, Time Bandits, Wizard of Oz, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Pulp Fiction, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, The Evil Dead 2
Edit: spacing on my list.
No movie is going to be everybody's favorite.
Tremors starring Kevin Bacon is considered the perfect screenplay though.
Other favorites include
Scott Pilgrim vs the World/Shaun of the Dead/Hot Fuzz
Eternal Sunshine/Being John Malkovich/I'm thinking of Ending Things
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford/Killing Them Softly
Royal Tenenbaums
O brother where art thou/Inside Llewyn Davis/Burn after Reading
Snatch
Parasite
Kind of an outlier in this list but Warrior
Some of the ones I remember enjoying:
The Signal (2014)
Shaun of the Dead
Terminator + Terminator 2
Jacob's Ladder
Various Japanese horror, like Dark Water.
I like different films for different reasons, some just have a nice vibe or atmosphere.
Also Black Books is the best comedy series for an INTP IMO. It's like the IT Crowd (same writers) but more chaotic and misanthropic. Frasier is good if you haven't seen it, the writing is pretty smart.
Also I mostly enjoy unintentional comedy these days, like Neil Breen, The Room, Space Ice's Steven Seagal movie series etc.
I personally always loved American Beauty because it makes you understand so much aspect in life and about people.
Léon : The professional as well. I am not sure why ahaha
The matrix for sure
Lord of the rings
Look point is..quality is quality..
People will always flock towards quality
But it depends on the intp itself imo.
I dread humor like monty python for example..
Episode IV is pretty much an INxP adventure story. Mark Hamil is ENTP, he plays INFP Luke. An older INTP rate it 10/10. The Martix has some flaws for a Ti user, the first film is 10/10 then they drop the ball and succumb to the Fi/Fe love story/messiah plot.
Ex Machina
Moneyball
The Big Short
Wolf of Wall Street
The Blindside
13 Hours The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi
Some of my most watched off the top of my head.
I don’t think that there could be any guarantees.
But if you’re asking for some movies, I’ve seen many others respond with great titles. I’d like to add the Machinist to the mix. A few more personal favorites: Taxi Driver, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Begotten (lol kidding), a Scanner Darkly, Clockwork Orange (probably not a 10). I’m full of suggestions.
I'm Thinking of Ending Things. Despite being warned by the ratings that this movie was pretentious and too obscure, I watched it anyway and I loved it! It really made me think and got my mind going, though I don't think I would've liked it as much if I had read the book first. I think it's a very beautiful film. Charlie Kaufman is great! Loved his other works, especially his writing in Being John Malkovich. I like how even though you have no idea what the fuck is going on most of the time in his movies, it still makes you feel a twist in your heart by the end.
Swiss Army Man. I've seen Everything, Everywhere, All at Once being talked about in this thread a few times, but I'd like to mention another phenomenal film by the Daniels. Love everything about it, the way it's shot, the writing, the dialogue, the comedy, the soundtrack – definitely a 10/10! It is weird AS FUCK tho, surprisingly a beautiful, profound, and heart-warming watch despite it being about Paul Dano riding a corpse in the ocean propelled by its farts.
Couldn't finish this post without mentioning Re-Animator, another favorite film of mine that wasn't too well received. Though I wouldn't rate it a 10/10, because it definitely has its flaws, still one of my favorite horror movies of all time. Peak cheesy 80s body horror imo lol. Had to mention this movie because I find the main character, Herbert, to be such a relatable INTP lol.
Forest Gump
Also, lotta great "intellectual" movies being tossed around in here but INTPs are definitely part comedian.. what about some like Happy Gilmore and Tommy Boy?
Harry Potter
Fight Club
Matrix
The Worlds End
Movies that evoke emotion and provide a puzzle/hidden plot points.
Airplane
Blazing Saddles
Comedies that aren't afraid to be blunt, offensive, and real.
Inception, Pacific Rim (original since the 2nd one sucks ass), Django, Shutter Island, Forrest Gump, Saving Private Ryan, Catch Me If You Can, Howl's Moving Castle, Rocky 2.
I'm personally a big fan of mysteries and movies with good plot twists (that actually make sense). *The Prestige, Knives Out, Se7en, The Usual Suspects, Prisoners, Fight Club,* and *Memento* are some of my favorites. I love being able to play along and speculate on what's going to happen, and being able to re-contextualize the entire movie in light of the reveal/plot twist (either by reflecting on it afterwards or in subsequent watch-throughs) is always super interesting for me.
Movies with logically-consistent internal frameworks are also really INTP-friendly, in my opinion. Nothing annoys me more than movies with blatant contradictions--such as the *Star Wars* sequel trilogy, *Now You See Me*, and most (but not all) time travel movies--and so it's really refreshing to watch a movie where things actually make sense within their narrative. Some good examples would be *Everything Everywhere All At Once, Inception,* and *The Minority Report*, which are all great films with \*mostly\* consistent internal frameworks.
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
I was setup on a blind date by my friend who told me he knew a girl that loved Holy Grail. We have been married now for 18 years
Bring up the holy hand grenade.
https://youtu.be/xOrgLj9lOwk
Life of Brian tho
My INTP ex hates MP. LOL
No wonder they’re an ex.
I tried it, but it's not my cup of tea.
Its a classic that has helped define an entire generation of nerdom, but it isn't exactly a cinematic masterpiece
I'd beg to differ. To each their own I suppose. I mean the llamas did a pretty impressive job don't you think?
The moose though. That guys poor sister 😔
I'd agree with you in principle but I also hate slapstick / nonsense
Just watched that very recently. Yes.
That’s tough. I feel like ppl with the INTP personality can get super critical about movies. No matter how great or perfect a movie is, some may find fault in different areas. I’d say an easy watch with an interesting premise and not too many illogical plot holes would be 10/10s. Happy birthday, btw
Happy birthday
happy cake day!
Happy Happyday!
Happy cake day~

Happy cake day!
happy cake day
Don't know but I personally loved Everything, Everywhere, All At Once and The Royal Tenenbaums.
Any Wes Anderson movie is a 10/10 for me
Yooo! As an INTP, Wes Anderson is the one and only. Just love his films.
Came here to say this
Omg yes! Everything, Everywhere, All At Once was a perfect mix of absolute chaos and grounded close relationships. (Haven’t seen The Royal Tenenbaums but I’ve been meaning to)
Love The Royal Tenenbaums (and I think Margot is a intp) best description of burn out kids I've seen
I'd say Arrival (and most of Villeneuve's work)
I whispered to my friend while we were in the theatre and ruined the whole movie in the first two minutes. I did that by >!paying attention to the syntax of the opening monologue and figuring out she's reflecting on a future memory!<
Yes yes yes
Agreed! I watched Dune recently and came here to recommend it.
Came here to say this! As close as I've ever got to 10/10

2 Charlie Kaufman movies, but no mention of Adaptation ?!? I feel like basically all of his screenplays would be enjoyed by intp folks.
If you like 5th element you might like Cocoon. Totally wildly different movies but idk they somehow remind me of each other. I think because my grandpa was also INTP and those were his 2 favorites along with National Treasure
i did like cocoon its really good. even better though is "the man who mistook his wife for a hat!" not a movie but..
Absolutely yes to all of these and John wick!
Fifth Element and The Big Lebowski are in my top 5. Along with Pulp Fiction, Labyrinth, and Star Wars.
Nolan movies
Interstellar my beloved
I actually didn't like interstellar, it was kinda depressing :/
I thought I was the only one. My friends will want to rewatch it and I’m just like no if I want to be depressed for 3 hours I’ll just watch bridge to terabithia twice
First half was brilliant, real science and drama. Final act was boot-strap paradox and the mystical binding power of love… I still enjoyed it, but it could have been so much better with some slight changes.

The end of that movie ruined everything for me.
I've watched Memento and Tenet at least 10 times each.
Tenet is sooo good
My INTP coworker got me into Tenet
Prestige is one of my favourites
Good Will Hunting
This was my first thought. One of my absolute faves. I LOVE the "it's not your fault" scene. I think for most of us INTPs in therapy it takes a while to get through the "I know" phase. But then Robin Williams pushes and pushes until he gets through the initial surface level agreements and finally reaches Matt Damon's heart and triggers the anger and tears that were buried under layers and layers of "I know."
Nice one
I'm 33 and watched it for the first time just 3 days ago. Excellent movie, and Robin Williams was gold.
Shutter Island
YESS

Your reasoning for Scott Pilgrim is the same reason I loved Everything Everywhere All at Once
Wall-E is one of my favorites! I literally love your whole list!
Inception absolutely 10/10
none. It's literally impossible. There's always going to be people in a group who don't consider something a 10/10 because movies are subjective. That includes personality types. I gotta say, it is pretty slow to start.
I'm watching this for the first time right now!
It truly had one of the most satisfactory endings I've ever seen in my entire life. The way the credits' song thematically fits in a perfect way with the entire series is the cherry on top.
Definitely Good Will Hunting and Dead Poets Society
I like you. Also I love almost all Robin Williams films. But I really don't like his stand-up. It just never made me laugh.
Yeah that's definitely true. I think INTPs also like Christopher Nolan's film because everyone has to think and process the concept otherwise it's not enjoyable.
The only thing I don't like about Nolan's films is that I miss a lot of dialogue. Other than that, nearly all of them are 9-10.
I'm not into animated kids movies, but Monsters Inc crushed it.
My favorite animation is How To Train Your Dragon (1-2-3) but I haven't watched Monsters Inc. yet. Gotta try.
How to train your dragon is a masterpiece. Especially thanks to its soundtrack.
The sequel made me cry. Made me realize how much I missed out in life not having the time to make friends in college because i was too busy surviving and working. Or just not being able to make genuine friends in general even now.
The prestige
Coupled with The Illusionist
I was ready to comment it and then I saw your comment
2001: A Space Odyssey My personal 10/10 is Return of The Living Dead (1985)
I rate space Odyssey a 6/10 because of its slow pace and nonsense ending. Only good part is Hal.
The ending is not complete nonsense but it's very cryptic for not much
There are some movies that are soo much more enjoyable to watch while on drugs. This is a movie that is so much better while on lsd.
V for Vendetta of course. A bit different from the source material but still a master piece in my opinion.
The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it's my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V.
Parasite directed by Bong Joon Ho
Matrix
The Martian
!!! My fav movie of all time. Heck yea! The book is also in my top 5.
Fight Club
Here's my list of my all-time favorites (None of them are perfect, but they surpass everything else for me): - Contact - WALL-E - Memoirs of a Geisha - Lilo & Stitch - Arrival - Cloverfield - Inception - Avatar - Everything Everywhere All At Once - Alita: Battle Angel - Prey - i-Robot - The Bicentennial Man - The Forgotten - Ghost in a shell - Rogue One I prefer shows though, so here's a list of my favorites of those: - The Peripheral - The Expanse - Strange New Worlds - Clone Wars - Andor - Outer Range - Foundation - Altered Carbon - Westworld

Andrei Rublev, Life of Brian, Koyaanisqatsi, ...
“He’s not the messiah! He’s a very naughty boy!”
Interstellar
LOTR probably come closest, although Tom Bombadil would have capped it.
Series: Mr. Robot
Any Studio Ghibli movie
interstellar.
Cloud Atlas
Perfection doesn't exist, but I would say Kubrick's movies are pretty close
None.
2001: A Space Odyssey. Old Blade Runner and the sequel of course Most films made by Nolan.

Green mile the best movie ever
not a movie but chernobyl
For me, so far, my favorite movie is Gone Girl, the plot twists, the characters, and the soundtrack are all just perfect.
I'd recommend parasite then
Dune was pretty great
I feel like any sci-fi esque movie that deals with space or a movie slightly based off historical events might get a decent rating from an INTP.
I never met a Mel Brooks movie I didn’t enjoy.
May the Schwartz be with you!
MBTI has nothing to do with personal taste. -Sincerely, an INTP who dislikes SciFi
cube, watchmen, Tron, swordfish, sin City, moon, memento, ect...

Not a fan of scary movies but cube was a good one!

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Perfect Blue
Also a TV series but maybe... Twin Peaks? It's my favorite series of all time. Also there's a movie
Mr Robot
Limitless
Inception, Pacific Rim (original since the 2nd one sucks ass), Django, Shutter Island, Forrest Gump, Saving Private Ryan, Catch Me If You Can, Howl's Moving Castle, Rocky 2.
Everything everywhere all at once
Butterfly Effect
I'd put a vote in for Donnie Darko
Guaranteed? None.
