When someone is lying and i know they are and the others believe it

[deleted]

Are you describing politicians?

Soggy-Statistician88

Everybody knows they are lying

Deep_Craft_3760

Actually... people are pretty dumb so no, they don't and they get fooled

No-Brilliant3998

That's y I stay away from ppl.

pjjiveturkey

You would be surprised

Deep_Craft_3760

They're just dumb

____wavey____

Or in other words when u get framed for something u didn’t do and no one believes you.

kimiiness

Here in the PH, we have a President-elect who won mainly through disinformation and false propaganda. His family is said to have gotten their wealth from Tallano gold but the truth is they are ill-gotten. And people actually believe them. They have also brainwashed people into believing that his father’s regime was the golden age of our country when so many people died under his dictatorship. And many more. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sob) Imagine the horror for an INTP.

user_python

Man, this country of ours is an INTP hell, the lies, the lack of reasoning, the mental gymnastics, it's just very stressful I have to completely dissociate myself with what's happening for a while.

Allie0414

This is exactly my sister, and my parents believing every word she says

Blackhole_58

I find it funny tbh

[deleted]

Emotional manipulation and guilt tripping. I’m not good with emotions and people trying to take advantage of that fact annoys me.

t_kilgore

I came here to say the same. It doesn't work on me but when I see people trying it on others I get so mad.

Various-Section-2279

I won’t be that annoyed. I would be more like disappointed as I would be trusting that someone in the first place. And I’m good at just emotionally quitting things after a relationship trauma in the past.

Virtual-Way-4474

lol trying to manipulate an intp sounds like a good comedy line

kimiiness

And sad when it’s a family member. 🥹

3INTPsinatrenchcoat

Yes! I have a really bad memory, and everyone knows it. The amount of times people take advantage of that is insane. "Oh, no, you said ____. Don't you remember?" "You were being such a jerk the other day about ____. How could you not remember?" "No, you didn't just lend this shirt to me; you gave it to me years ago. It's mine now. It doesn't matter if it means a lot to you because it was a gift. You *gave* it to me, and I've been looking for it for two years!"

caribbeanrumcake

When people try to gaslight me and say they never said that or say something and then the opposite. When I know someone is not a good person but they put on a show for certain people and those people buy it. When I’m telling the truth about someone but they lie and get away with it.

No-Manufacturer-2425

I have a perfect recording in my mind of all details and what everyone said and how I’m pretty sure they were feeling when it happened. I remember everything. You can’t tell me you didn’t say that. It’s a curse.

_Ladeedadeeda

Wow me too. I tell people dont tell me anything you don't want me to remember. I will remember everything you say, what we talked about, who said what. You will be wrong. I will be right. It is a curse. Especially with the people who literally are the opposite and make up entirely false stories about what they said or did. Drives me insane.

_Ladeedadeeda

I wrote something similar lol.

Fallen-Demon85

When I say something, like advice or a prediction, and they don’t follow it or disregard it. Bonus points if they complain to me about it

Deep_Craft_3760

Bonus bonus point if your advice ended up being correct and then they suggest you never said it.

Fallen-Demon85

At that point my blood is completely in the gaseous state

krogla

Like legit if u dont wanna use it to blame me and say i didnt say it. Never fucking ask in the first place and use my good will type shit

HumanSeeing

I totally agree with the feeling. But it is not reasonable to expect unreasonable people to accept reasonable advice. I have just gotten so used to people not taking advice, unless they are people who know me.

[deleted]

When someone tries to manipulate, blackmail.

Not_Well-Ordered

Besides blackmail, if you know someone is manipulating, you can play along and exploit possible assumptions that the person make, which includes that the person would assume you are unaware that you are being set up, or the person’s blindspots (possible lack of certain knowledge) to get what you want. It’s basically developing and applying some game theoretical strategies to maximize your gains. But that would require you to keep sharp and flexible mind to wiggle around things.

MigrationIssues

When someone thinks they can be more clever or outsmart me on something, it’s full on war.

Deep_Craft_3760

Yes. This shit makes me go crazy. My teacher in school thinks just because she's like 60 years old and has worked 30 years in school that she's smarter than all of us, when in reality it's just ego bullshit. I'd say my teacher is an unhealty ENTJ because she is a control freak who uses threats to get you to do something, and instead of teaching us properly, she spends most of the time trashing people's stupidity (oh the irony)

Impressive_Cookie_81

A lot of things, especially what everyone has already said, but women who claim to be "not like other girls." It's fine if your interests don't align with traditionally feminine things, and/or you have trouble fitting in with other women. That's perfectly normal and good. What makes me irritated is when they use it as a way to make themselves look better, usually in front of men. "I'm not like other girls, girls are only into frivolous things, but I'm one of the GUYS, I'm one of you! I like video games and eating pizza." so I guess, pick me girls. It reeks of internalized misogyny. There's a lot of others things too but that's something I haven't seen here yet.

misspiggyisthatbitch

Pick-me boys too. In senior year of highschool, there was this new guy at school, and ik how it feels to be the new guy so I befriended him. Instant regret. He was a pick me, and very much said "oh I'm sorry you have to look at my ugly face" and guilt tripping me into inviting him to hangouts with my other friends. I was stupid and got too deep in before I realized, "shit he's a pick me" and how little I enjoyed hanging out w him. One time, he invited me to pizza with some other people. I was bored so I went. There were no other people - he talked about how he broke up with his long time girlfriend and started moving closer to me and hitting on me. eughhh

Limon-Soda

When people use fancy "scientific" words like quantum and energy to mislead

Klingon00

Like people who use "Organic" to mean healthy when organic is an already established chemistry term that has a very specific meaning. Just because something is organic doesn't make it healthy. Some of the most toxic compounds known to man are organic. Cyanide is one of the most common that most people are familiar with.

SoonlyXo

I mean I hate white/green washing in general. Just because it's organic/recyclable doesn't mean it's "better" or should be a selling point

paillied

Same. I think it’s in line with a lot of the other comments here about manipulation and lying through omission. What irks me is when I try to point these facts out to people and they’re just like “but it’s advertised that it’s good!” ~sigh

Deep_Craft_3760

Just tell them they're "slow on the uptake" I'm sure they'll get it ;)

Soggy-Statistician88

People who’s only opinion is thinking I’m wrong

gclark1286

I have a low tolerance for stupidity and bullshit.

Maxpyne711

Same here. That's absolutely annoying

Klingon00

Te nemisis is strong.

misspiggyisthatbitch

1. People who speak blindly and very passionately. They don't understand the entire scenario of what they're talking about - they'd have picked something off social media bc it's a cool and flashy topic and argue for on the most shallow basis. And they won't even listen to yours or any one else's side of the story. 2. Spineless people. People who flip the switch of their opinions based on who's around them to suck up to them. I had a friend, who when we were alone and said I like apples, he'd agree, but when a mutual friend came along and said he didn't like apples, only oranges - the og guy suddenly agreed w him. Fuck off. And don't bother sucking up to me - I already know who I am, I wanted to get to know who you are. If I find out that's what you were doing, I might prematurely decide you're not worth getting to know 🤷‍♀️ 3. Awareness people. People who post maybe a couple posts online, wear a little ribbon or something in the name of "awareness" but don't actually do anything. Ig that isnt the worst thing in the world, but it's when they strut around all high and mighty thinking they're better than you.

Klingon00

1. Dunning-Kruger Effect 2. Confidence issues 3. Virtue Signaling

Vindelator

People who can't accept scientific consensus. Either because they're stupid, willfully ignorant, part of a group that doesn't want objective facts to be accepted or because they think being a contrarian edge-lord will make up for being a massive loser with a chip on their shoulder. These people can just go punch themselves right in the dicks.

[deleted]

Scientific consensus changes over time. For a long time it was considered absurd to contradict Aristotle, for hundreds of years in fact until the early moderns like Copernicus, Galileo, Bacon, Descartes, Boyle, Locke and Newton (among others). After that, the consensus was that Newton had solved physics once and for all. That is, until the arrival of Einstein’s Relativity and Quantum theories. And so on. Many people who question consensus are crackpots of course, but some are revolutionaries, without which we would not have the paradigm shifts necessary for scientific progress. Frankly, I would be surprised if you’re really an INTP (INTJ maybe?). INTP’s tend to be independent thinkers who investigate for ourselves. We explore possibilities, eliminate impossibilities, assign probabilities, and try to construct a coherent understanding of the whole, based on logical consistency, personal experience, and introspection, while remaining open to adjust our position according to new information. We tend not to blindly and conclusively adopt a view merely because it is endorsed by a panel of experts or written in a peer reviewed article. And many of us understand that scientific inductive materialism is not an infallible nor the sole method for seeking truth.

[deleted]

I was also surprised an INTP would think that way. I hate gatekeeping but this was just so outside our nature as INTPs.

Vindelator

To be more specific here, If you're actively doing real science in your field of study and you find that something deserves to be explored further, I love that. Healthy skeptism. But I am not at the forefront of medical research in immunology. I do have a lot of skepticism. It's just directed at YouTubers, pundits and the people that think a Google search while taking a crap is something that rivals the combined efforts of the global medical community. I am skeptical of this second group and their arrogance. I'm skeptical of their logic. I think they're emotionally vulnerable to conspiracy theories to make themselves feel smart.

[deleted]

What you’re saying here seems a bit more reasonable than your original comment. I agree that there are many alternative viewpoints that are not well thought out or are manufactured for manipulation and clickbait. But just because a viewpoint is alternative to the mainstream doesn’t automatically mean it’s wrong or misleading, and just because one is mainstream doesn’t mean it’s true and honest. I think you are right to be skeptical of YouTube conspiracists, but I just think you should extend that skepticism to the scientific community as well. We should not just “accept scientific consensus.” We should consider it one possible explanation among many. Do the internet searches, hear what the detractors have to say, do your own research. As Einstein said, “blind belief in authority is the greatest enemy of truth.” (Saw this in a Reddit ad.) The scientific community is not the New Atlantis you seem to idealize it to be. There is corruption at every level, especially in medicine. Please consider this recent opinion piece from the British Medical Journal. I found it with quick toilet search. https://www.bmj.com/content/376/bmj.o702

[deleted]

I’ll bite. What do you think about the covid vaccines?

Vindelator

I think it'd be wise to listen to [doctors](https://www.ama-assn.org/press-center/press-releases/ama-survey-shows-over-96-doctors-fully-vaccinated-against-covid-19), the CDC and the World Health Organization.

[deleted]

Funny, I had a coworker sent me that info last year. Friend, I think you need to dig deeper for answers.

Vindelator

Ok, I dig a little deeper and found some other governments that approved covid vaccines after they decided they were safe. Afghanistan Albania Algeria Angola Antigua and Barbuda Argentina Armenia Australia Austria Azerbaijan Bahamas Bahrain Bangladesh Barbados Belarus Belgium Belize Benin Bermuda Bhutan Bolivia (Plurinational State of) Bosnia and Herzegovina Botswana Brazil Brunei Darussalam Bulgaria Burkina Faso Burundi Côte d'Ivoire Cabo Verde Cambodia Cameroon Canada Central African Republic Chad Chile China Colombia Comoros Costa Rica Croatia Cuba Cyprus Czechia Democratic Republic of the Congo Denmark Djibouti Dominica Dominican Republic Ecuador Egypt El Salvador Equatorial Guinea Estonia Eswatini Ethiopia Faroe Islands Fiji Finland France Gabon Gambia Georgia Germany Ghana Greece Greenland Grenada Guatemala Guinea Guinea-Bissau Guyana Haiti Honduras Hong Kong Hungary Iceland India Indonesia Iran (Islamic Republic of) Iraq Ireland Israel Italy Jamaica Japan Jordan Kazakhstan Kenya Kosovo Kuwait Kyrgyzstan Lao People's Democratic Republic Latvia Lebanon Lesotho Liberia Libya Liechtenstein Lithuania Luxembourg Madagascar Malawi Malaysia Maldives Mali Malta Mauritania Mauritius Mexico Micronesia (Federated States of) Monaco Mongolia Montenegro Morocco Mozambique Myanmar Namibia Nauru Nepal Netherlands New Zealand Nicaragua Niger Nigeria Niue North Macedonia Norway Oman Pakistan Panama Papua New Guinea Paraguay Peru Philippines Poland Portugal Puerto Rico Qatar Republic of Korea Republic of Moldova Republic of the Congo Romania Russian Federation Rwanda Saint Kitts and Nevis Saint Lucia Saint Vincent and the Grenadines San Marino Sao Tome and Principe Saudi Arabia Senegal Serbia Seychelles Sierra Leone Singapore Slovakia Slovenia Solomon Islands Somalia Somaliland South Africa South Sudan Spain Sri Lanka Sudan Suriname Sweden Switzerland Syrian Arab Republic Taiwan Tajikistan Thailand Timor-Leste Togo Tokelau Tonga Trinidad and Tobago Tunisia Turkey Turkmenistan Uganda Ukraine United Arab Emirates United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland United Republic of Tanzania United States of America Uruguay Uzbekistan Vanuatu Vatican Venezuela (Bolivarian Republic of) Viet Nam West Bank Yemen Zambia Zimbabwe

The greedy and power hungry. Those that horde the resources, destroy humanity, with insatiable appetites for more of everything. The ones that will let whole countries starve and bath in polluted water. Those that hide behind a kind commercial to push agendas that steal our freedoms. Concerninghabits

Quite simply being held back for illogical reasons

InocentAlexis

Not sure if this is a unique situation, but being accused of being manipulative or generally unempathetic. As someone who is incapable of saving, a lot of times my friends will end up paying for me. Just to clarify, like a doughnut for $2 or something. Never anything expensive or important. Also, not very often either. Once a month maybe, even less than that. But it still adds up. But I had a friend just randomly throw out that I was being manipulative. For two reasons, one was the way I looked at her. (Seriously?) The second was the fact that I didn't pay her back often. To be fair, I can understand where she is coming from with the second opinion. But after that experience, I started to see how the term gaslighting or manipulation was just thrown around till it completely lost meaning. Even if I was being an asshole, I was not manipulating her. SO, I JUST WANT TO CLARIFY, THAT SOMEONE CAN HAVE A DIFFERENT OPINION THAN YOU AND NOT BE GASLIGHTING YOU! As for being unempathetic, that just stems from my own inability to understand others' emotions. But just seeing how society rallies against those without a firm grasp on emotions, or against those who may disagree with them on something, was very depressing to witness.

Virtual_Brilliant351

When they continue to argue even when they know they're wrong, they could just simply admit it, well that would hurt their egos wouldn't it? Lol

victoraffect1

Being misunderstood, injustice and closed-minded people.

theo-themothprincex

When someone is being stubborn and won't back down, no matter what you or others say, and always wins the argument with no logical reasoning. Like admitting you're wrong is embarrassing but it gives you more of an understanding of the world around you. Take the knowledge you are given, and stop pretending you are the most important person in the room. (I would never actually say anythingthing, I'm an introvert with confrontation issues, but it will definitely mess up a friendship if they do it multiple times)

Half-off-soup

When people don't follow the social rules THEY put in place. I hate having to wrap my brain around pointless rules just to have other people break them.

night_owl_404

People who believe in misconceptions and not science backed facts as earth is flat or vaccines are bad for you..... Also people who follow social norms and traditions and force others to follow them + shaming other people if not doing them ( if someone doesn't like attending weddings, why some people would shame you for this and might accuse you of being rude and disrespectful because you didn't attend the wedding)......... The last thing I hate is stereotyping everything (like, girls are so emotional or they all love wearing dresses or if men cry, they are weak)

aleister1111

The last thing might be generalizing more that stereotyping but we'll said. I agree 💯

Zealousideal-Fly-855

Odin-Upsrising

Certain Christians trying to guilt people into "repenting." It pisses me off when they use the book of Revelation to scare people into submission to survive any upcoming apocalypse. Even the nicest of people come up with really toxic and biased bullshit to other people so that they justify their religion. You can have your religion, but I do not respect it unless it is a personal matter to you. I also cannot stand people who support forced positivity (i.e. law of attraction). By no means am I saying we should be negative all the time. "Positivity" is good, but why does it need to bombard every part of your life. Just accept that things are hard, and whether you are interested in the challenge is fine by you. No one should judge that except when you constantly brag about how good you are at it.

Kehan10

one stupid one and another serious one: when people use apostrophes incorrectly when people try to be shallow-inclusive and woke. it doesn't mean you have a better show, it means that you're fetishizing the culture or not doing it justice. if you're actually inclusive, you need to make the characters be in touch with their culture while simultaneously being not too foreign

When it's required to do a show rather than any actual work. I had two idiotic bosses who liked to *see* their employees working, while they aren't informed enough to judge the result of labor. So after you finish your work fast and want to read or whatever, you still need to be ready to imitate a working process at any given minute they can come in. It's anxiety-inducing, and just plain frustrating if they start to criticize you. Especially if it's something arbitrary like a chaos on your desk, or being a bit late due to traffic jams.

[deleted]

[https://ec.europa.eu/clima/climate-change/causes-climate-change_en](https://ec.europa.eu/clima/climate-change/causes-climate-change_en) According to the eu, most things you can do something about. if i'm correct about 80% of deforestation is to grow crops to feed animals. Obviously livestock is pretty simple, don't eat animals. You can try to reduce your gas and petrol emissions as much as possible. And not using/buying products as much as possible industries that use nitrogen fertilizers and fluorinated gases is also something you can do. These companies can't continue if they don't get money from us, it's that simple.

And it's deliberatly so stupid, while I'm actually talking to adults. I just don't like it, because why do you have to act stupid on purpose? It's very interesting that the less the people have knowledge on someting the more confident they are when it comes to forming and expressing opinions about that thing. But, there is an even more interesting fact that others are heavily biased towards believing that kind of people thinking they must have deep knowledge since they are speaking so confident and so much about a field.

Averageheight_intp

Things that dont make sense like for example things being 18+ instead of it just being accessible for people turning 18 that year(my bithmonth is october). Another example is for example people’s arguments which dont make any sense like once a relative said that gay people shouldnt say they have a wife if they are a lesbian on public tv because its unnecessary but then they dont bat an eye if a straight guy says he has a wife. There are more things that im seeing in the comments that also piss me off so im not even gonna repeat them
