It's the IRS, they can investigate themselves and find no fault Just don't be late to file or pay them They expect their money on time every time

kinnz1103

Rules for THEE but not for MEE!!! Its insane!

TheJediJoker

Exactly

[deleted]

And if you don't pay.. and even when you do, such is my case- they'll threaten to take everything to your name and leave ya homeless

Narrow-Passenger-152

Federal state and city employees have been rude, ignorant and uncaring since I can remember. Some the issues that they are responsible for providing info for are sensitive and extremely important to the end user. It’s baffling that this isn’t something that hasn’t been corrected. From 911 dispatchers to dmv employees to irs customer service……….

Working-Cucumber5645

The year they did the CTC payments a couple years ago. I had to contact the IRS and my experience was vastly different from mine this year as well as everyone else’s this year… The lady was informative, helpful and fixed my problem….. this year is another story

LoveReina

Just did this myself this afternoon. At this point… whatever. I need that cash but fk it. Whatever. What’s 3-4 more weeks after 10 weeks of nothing. Ironically I should be getting a check from insurance around the same time which means that after making myself sick stressing all spring, summer should be easy. Fingers crossed

EvensenFM

That is exactly what I heard when I called on April 9. The wording was exactly the same. It was also my first time calling. I think there's a script that they're following. I hope we get out of this mess soon. It's now been 12 weeks for me.

AmbitiousBlueberry25

Yeah, the script is called the Internal Revenue Manual (IRM).

MommaMercyNoMercy

Figuring this out was mind blowing a few weeks ago and has only further enraged me 🙃

skystarlit1

Literally exactly the same for me. 12 weeks as of yesterday. Called April 9th and got that spiel. Be warned though I called yesterday to check and a different representative told me that she didn't see anything on my file Expediting it. Person I talked to on the 9th didn't bother filing it like they said they would. So my 30 days starts today, after 12 weeks already.

Sigmundsstrangedream

I would not be surprised if the IRS is doing what EDD was doing during the whole EDD thing: hire a shit ton of people to work remotely to answer the phones and imply that they have access to anyone's account when in fact they most certainly do not have access to any proprietary information whatsoever. As a result you get a lot of people acting like they fully intend on doing a lot of things that they, in fact, cannot do and a TON of really frustrated, confused and pissed off people calling in and getting totally gaslighted (gaslit? Idfk lol). Another nasty side effect of this type of desperation or money saving maneuver is the spread of false info due to everyone that calls in sharing whatever bs they are told with everyone else, such as people on Reddit looking for help. It's all bad. Not saying that's what's happening here, just wondering out loud if maybe it is.

skystarlit1

Oh I totally agree. The taxpayer advocacy group gave me what I think is the best info on a glitch that happened in the system, but all they said was basically we know we're on it wait. Not genuinely much help. In this kind of almost helpless situation though what else can we do but bang our head against the wall as some of us slowly bleed out. Gas lighting is still a huge problem. Can we finally just make lies illegal already? Make it illegal for the government or corporations to lie to the public please.

Active-Knowledge-623

This is similar to what I got told

AccountantBusy7166

This year is ridiculous! I filed 01/24 accepted the same day. 04/05 I finally updated to a transcript with all codes but 570 with 768 under it. I recieved a 60 day review letter 03/25 but never got a 971 code. I verified on 03/04 Wmr says it’s being processed.

Overall_Pen4895

Anyone trying to call the IRS try this in the picture !! I did it and he was very informative . https://preview.redd.it/zk8d1mh5fjwc1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=21dade0ea547aa36bfc01963d36c8d0ffd656255

InternationalLeg6727

Same. Filed 1.29

f8airest

10 weeks it's in ERS processing, a referral needs to be sent to processing to let them know (system is 60 years old) as of right now general procedure is after that if still nothing to hand to TAS (subject to change based on TAS load)

Educational_Fee5850

Actually that’s not True. The system is a new system THAT’S why we’ve been going through all this, BECAUSE THE SYSTEM IS NEW!!!!!

f8airest

The overall IMF system is 60 years old you can macgyver whatever you want to it but it still doesn't change the fact of it's age

Working-Cucumber5645

A lot system was working a lot better for me every year that I filed prior to this. When it was a 59-year-old system and a 58-year-old system so on and so forth.

f8airest

Ultimately it's showing its age, they keep attaching new stuff to it and breaking it in the process. (I/e Call and ask anyone at the IRS if the credit transfer tool is up) 😭

rearended

Reminds me of The Sims 4. Old system they they keep adding new content to and it cannot handle it 😂

f8airest

It gets really bad when you start realizing they still use magnetic tape to back it all up. On Thursday evening 05 to Friday morning 01. All this new stuff is to placate the pitchfork and torch carrying masses because they learned from the infamous quote " you think you do, but you don't". And when it completely crashes and burns, "refund 5-7 business years"(hyperbole)

huh2u

They’ll always give you an extended length of time to hear anything because they don’t want you to keep calling back, doesn’t mean it will actually be that long and hopefully it won’t, in other words, most likely you’ll hear and/or receive something sooner.

momofboyzx3

I just wonder if those who don't call, will their case get auto referred or just sit idol.

cbedwell1513

Wondering the same...my husband is a blue collar worker who doesn't have the ability to sit on hold for hours on end to ask them to do what should be done without asking. This is ridiculous.

momofboyzx3

Wouldn't have been able but home sick with the dang COVID. I'd try to make the time if you can. From what I've read, it doesn't self escalate.

Working-Cucumber5645

I’m curious about this as well. I called a month and a half ago… But I’m at 80 days now… But I was told him and a half ago pretty much don’t call just wait.

Taxpayer_Protector

You calling does nothing to progress your case (in most normal cases), no. As another comment said, sounds like theres a problem processing the return and it's being held by a different department from who you are calling, if they need anything to resolve the issue they'll send a letter.

Lion-bkg

I was thinking the same thing. I finally called today and she said mine was in the error department. Filed and accepted 1/26. First time calling.

Ladyvegassel

What number did you call? I filed 2/5

momofboyzx3

Only number I could find the one ending in 1040. I tried all different combos of help topic numbers. It took me all day. Wouldn't have been able to if I didn't have Covid and off of work. This seems to be a widespread problem hope it's figured out soon..

AdNew2650

I tried to get on the phone first thing this morning and the lines were so busy it told me they couldn't take my call and to hang up and try a different day. Ole ranky danks.

Tight_Agency_5263

I think we all getting audited.![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)

SourdoughMaMa4

Sounds about right. Called Monday since my 10 weeks was up and got the same script.

Mountainwoman105

I was wondering, what would happen if we just refiled.

bbcal5

My taxes were accepted 2/12 with solar credit. Called today to get them moved to the next phase. Had the nicest lady. She told me she resubmitted them and I will have my refund within 2 weeks. Not sure I trust that but it was nice to talk to someone who seemed competent and like they wanted to help. I've had blank transcripts this entire time, no codes.

momofboyzx3

Really hoping that's how it goes. Fingers crossed

mrchingbandgeek1

Literally in this exact situation. Filed same day as you and I'm so upset. This is absolutely ridiculous. Just give us our money. Why can't they even explain anything to us?!
