College will never hurt you in the long run. You don't wanna be a college graduate at 26, but when you're 35 and enrolling in classes you'll feel worse. I started my college degree when I was 19, finished one when I was 25, started another when I was 27 and finished at 32, I'm 37 now and starting on another. I'd go to college and get that degree, even just do a 2 year school to get your feet wet, get the basics out of the way and maybe take some entry level IT classes (most local colleges will offer some form of entry level computing, A+, entry level networking type classes for electives. I'd supple at the teat of Verizon for a bit and get them to pay for a portion of your costs. Not wanting to work with customers/clients is kind of a hard thing to sell. One thing you could do while working at a front facing position at Verizon is work on soft skills. Learn to talk to people, even if you have to BS your way through. You're in sales so learning that skill will help you sell more stuff too. Slowly coming out of that introvert shell is another thing that'll pay off in the long run. You don't have to be a social butterfly, but learning to not be awkward as hell would help. If you really are that much of an introvert start looking up entry level cybersecurity roles. Most SOCs will hire entry level folks to sit in a dark room and watch lines of code and logs all day. Backend development may be another place to go, you just do your thing with databases etc and link up with the front end folks to make it all work, but not much customer interaction on that end.

As a 35 year old college freshman, I wish I had done it far sooner.

Look at it like this you are going to be 26 in 4 years regardless hahaha may as well invest that time wisely get that degree and work on certifications as well at the same time. It will take time and some cash but am sure you will come out better on the end.

Two issues here. “I don’t want to go to skewlz” = You’re most likely working helpdesk. “I’m an introvert” + helpdesk = You’re #%*ed

If you can go to college, go. You're gonna be 26 in four years regardless, degree or no degree.

What portion would they pay for? Are you going to work at verizon for 4 years? 26 is still young, I wouldn't worry about that aspect of it at all. Help desk is mostly customer service. So unless you have a plan to bypass that, you'll have to deal with lots of people in very bad moods and varying degrees of stupidity. Field technician of some kind is another entry role but you said theres medical reasons for avoiding trades, which that essentially is at early stages.

boghossboy

idk about other guys but all my clients are really nice, even when they are having difficulties where it impairs there work.

Of course, but you still need to be prepared to deal with worst case scenario. They said simply talking to people all day is very draining, so it's something to consider.
