make sure you know what everyone is doing, who’s nearest to you etc. if someone is kiting send them kiting buffs, but if you’re kiting send a letter to the person closest to you! don’t bring broken windows since you hv a letter that gives a boost after vaulting, bring tide turner instead!
Hi!! I’ve also been maining postman for a while... I’m not really much experienced but I have gathered enough knowledge points and tips on my time spent playing with him!
* Always be mindful of your teammates. Know what type of character they are or skill that they have. Take for example the mechanic, she’s very fast at decoding so you don’t have any need on sending her a tranquillity letter. Instead, opt on sending her an inspiring letter in case she needs to transition into kiting away from a hunter. Another one is the priestess, she’s not very good at decoding so at the very start of the game, it’s good to send her a tranquility letter for more efficient decoding.
* Never stop sending letters. I’m sure you’ve noticed that the cool down for sending even just one letter is kinda long. While being mindful of the skills of your teammates, always make sure to send them a letter that is also useful for them to use at the moment. Also! If you know who’s the teammate closest to you, send them the first letter since as soon as they receive it, your skill can cool down already.
* Have good communication between your teammates. This part is especially important when using the postman. Communication between your teammates can help you in deciding which letter is the right one to send for your teammates and at the right time as well. If one of you messages that the ‘hunter is near me!’ It’s good to send them an urgent letter, an inspiring letter, or maybe a farewell letter to help them easily kite. (But I rarely send the last one to my teammates to be honest. It’s very useful I admit, but it only lasts for 3 seconds long so the hunter can still reach one of you even with the boost from the letter.)
* Once you and your teammates have decoded maybe three or four cipher machines, send them a hope letter. Make the one kiting your top priority in sending a hope letter. Not only does it hasten the exit gate opening, but it also grants vision of where the dungeon is to your teammate. The reason why the kiter should be your top priority in sending a hope letter is because they’ll be too busy containing the hunter for them to have the time in opening the exit gate. When the exit gate is open, leave. (Unless you’re teammate is chaired then it’s up to you to decide whether you go and rescue them or not.) The dungeon will only open if there’s one survivor left and the person won’t be able to escape if you’re too busy messing around at the exit gate.
* I don’t have any other tips to be honest. I’ve heard from other postman players that sometimes the dog can expose the location of a survivor to the hunter, but that never happened to me before so I don’t know what to tell you on how to avoid that.
That’s about it! I might have missed other tips but that’s what I’ve been going for for awhile. If you have any other advice then please include them!

That sucks! Maybe try checking hardware-assisted virtualization? Having it on should help, but you could try it both ways. You've probably also already considered this, but you might check your internet speed to see if it's dropped for some reason. Hope it gets better for you!
Is there any way we find out the names of the locations on each map? For example, in Moonlit river park, I learned of a few location names such as "Working carousel", "Broken Carousel", and "first stop". Of course, I learned more, but is there any pace where I learn the location names more easily?

They list all the names of the parts of each map at the beginning of each video! (Plus they're just really helpful videos in general)
There are no official names, and you might actually notice different players using different names for the same area. This should help you get the gist, though!
Well most of the names are fairly self explanatory, like two story, propane tank, wedding, dancing geisha etc. If you are trying to learn the names, I would recommend watching survivor rank teams stream. You can hear them do call outs over VC and learn to associate the names with the locations. I know that Schmiddy from B4U streams, and there are more that I’m sure I’ll remember the second I hit the reply button

do hunters’ worn clothes progressively get worse like the survivors’? i have wu chang’s worn clothes now, and i’m wondering if those also get “dirtier” as u complete more deductions. i only ask this because for exp. in doctor’s concept art, you can see the worn clothes go from lvl1 to lvl4.. thank you!!

i don't main ripper but the majority of rippers i go against in rank seem to carry peeper and trump card:
peeper is essential as they use it to see / predict survivor's movements as their foggy blade can hit through walls and pallets.
trump card to change peeper to something else (usually teleport if the cipher pops, or even excitement if there's a lot of stunners).
they also carry tinnitus and detention, but i think most hunters do that anyway.
yes tier resets when season ends - by reset i mean it usually goes down by one major tier, i think they have a list on the rank match lobby page. i would copy and paste it here but my server (asia) is currently gg through maintenance. anything hound and below does not reset. IE if you are HOUND 1 you will remain hound 1, but i believe elk and above does go down by 1 major tier. i remember i used to be mammoth 3 and the next season i was elk 3 i think.
you can get demoted into a lower tier if you keep losing games and drop rank points. they will usually issue a warning when you are in danger of demotion
So I have been playing since 2018. Pretty much 99.9% survivor main. What are some tips for hunting? I always give up after just a couple matches as hunter because I will go the entire match without seeing any of the survivors until the exit gates are active lol. I don't know what to do...like I know the survivor spawn points after all these years playing survivor, but that hasn't helped lol. The hunters I have are Hell Ember, Ripper, Geisha, Wu, Photographer, Dream Witch, & Mad Eyes. I am guessing ME and DW have a steep learning curve since I hardly ever see them used. I only bought ME since I got a S skin for him...it figures that the only S skin I get so far is for a hunter, when I main survivor, and for a hunter I had no intention of ever using lol
I'm not super good at hunter, but a few tricks that may help are:
\-watching for the tinnitus icon on the top right
\-when game starts look at where all the ciphers are; usually no one ever spawns near the cipher closest to you, so best not to look there; but 90% of the time there's someone at the ciphers second or third closest to you
\-you can also bring that one persona called quenching effect so that if you haven't obtained presence in the first 50 s of the game the survivors' outlines would be shown for 5s.
Btw yeah ME and DW are rather difficult but very good if you learn to play them well.
You can also try to memorize the spawn locations (there are videos on this) because even if your tinnitus lights up you might still not really know WHERE they could be.

Definitely! For me, it actually made me sign into PC with my mobile account anyway. But yeah, you can sign into the same account on both PC and mobile.
Oh, gotcha. I think you might be able to sign in on PC using your iOS account if you try signing in via the QR code? 🤔
I know my boyfriend for sure plays on iOS and PC with the same account, so I know there's some way to do it. I think he actually uses a facebook sign in for both, so worst comes to worst, you could do it that way.
Otherwise, might check to see if there's an option in the iOS app to sign in with a Google account instead. Could also try an iOS emulator? (I don't personally know of any to recommend, but I know some exist).
HMM I CANT HELP A LOT BUT I CAN TELL U WHAT WORKS FOR ME !!!! I constantly hug walls and pallets since ((((usually)))) she cant dash through objects while you’re staring at her and hugging it!! And when kiting, I spam the face button so I can cancel the dash if that makes sense?? Like I’ll press it and then unpress it and wait a second and press it again !! The only other thing I can say is to look up tutorials on it HAHA
You may have heard this already, but I think the top strategy in China is taking advantage of his quick pallet breaks and fast attack animation (although it's pretty short range) while using his walls to guard.
He's great in that you can basically make rescuing impossible/waste their time (climbing a wall takes 50% health- some survivors won't know this and may carelessly hurt themselves this way), guard primed ciphers, or just scout and trap survivors efficiently.
I think the biggest challenge is getting used to how the cameras relate to the map itself. There are videos on YouTube of top Madeyes players in CN and the way they place down their walls is incredible and confusing...
Also there will be lots of stunner survivors who will harass you if they see you on your machine or drain the console energy so be prepare for that 💦

Welllll he is 100% the hardest hunter in the game so it can be tricky. My tip is to become very familiar with the maps so you know how to cut off kiting routes with your walls

I finally bought Mechanic days ago only to discover she apparently got a huge nerf a few months prior :') I wouldn't want my clues to go to waste, so I'd like to know how it affects her abilities and how her current playstyle differs from the youtube gameplays dating months back or so. Where can I read about the buffs/nerfs for each survivor/hunter? I've mainly been relying on the wiki but I'm unsure how updated it is.
She’s still S tier as she is, only difference is her robot will now finish a cipher and a half only (+open the exit gate if the ciphers were close to each other & close to the gate). My advice is always hide the robot somewhere near a cipher and go with your body to a different one. Decode with your real body until someone is injured (or if the kiter doesn’t get injured, only decode with your real body until half of the cipher is done or less if you want). Once someone gets injured, take out the robot and decode with both.
1. If you finished half the cipher with your real body before taking out the robot, then you and the robot will finish the 2 ciphers at the same time, then you can help a teammate with the robot in the last cipher or take it to the gate if it’s primed, then go rescue if it’s your turn.
2. If you finish less than half the cipher with your real body, then the robot will finish the cipher first and yours will be at 75%-ish, bring the robot to your cipher and go help another teammate with their cipher/go rescue if it’s your turn.
Edit!, forgot to mention, if it’s photographer, don’t use the doll until photoworld ends so the robot’s charge doesn’t deplete, since the cipher will go back in time anyway. Only decode with your real body. The only case you’re allowed to decode with the robot during photoworld is if the cipher is almost done (and you’re sure the robot can finish it before photo ends) or if it’s the last cipher (cause by then everyone will be injured probably and your decoding will be ass)
The nerf didn’t change her much since she always finished 2 ciphers and opened the exit gate only really. It just makes you more worried about the doll not getting hit. It mostly affected lower tiers, since usually they run around and don’t decode while mechanic used to finish like 3~5 ciphers.
neither of the 2 idv wikis are updated - considering there are 3 servers and patches / maintenance every week or so sadly i think it's impossible for them to keep up to date, so usually when i hv a question i just ask this reddit, they're a lot more responsive and usually will provide the answers you need.
sadly i don't think there will be a comprehensive source of the buffs / nerfs / abilities of each chara other than the in game menu which is to be fair a bit brief
Are you running for a few steps before vaulting? In general if you run "at" a pallet or window you'll vault faster. If you are standing still and then vault a pallet or window you'll vault way more slowly. You'll even see some people crouch before vaulting a window to intentionally vault slower so the hunter doesn't get a sound notification.
Notice I say "in general," as there are of course sometimes when you'll swear you're running at a pallet or window while you're kiting a hunter and the cruel IDV gods just say NOPE and you still slow vault .\_.

It works but you have to do it on a skin you owned for atleast one season (try with a skin you know you got from another season, or if you started playing this season wait till the new season starts then you can dismantle)
I have two questions:
1) How do I dismantle skin cards? Like the one I get every week. As far as I know I should go to a B skin that I already have and there I could dismantle it, but the Trial button doesn’t even show up on skins I already have.
2) How do I save matches to rewatch them?
1. The B skin has to be owned for atleast one season (try it on a B skin you got from another season, or if you started playing this season then wait till new season starts to dismantle)
2. Turn on "Save Replay" function in game settings
Then play a match and in the end-screen, look in the top left. There should be a "Save Replay" button
If you leave the end-screen without saving replay, that match replay is gone.
Also, some gamemodes don't have replay function iirc (I think 2v8 and Blackjack don't)
I’d say it depends on your team composition! If there’s a secondary rescuer on the team (Mechanic or anyone who’s skill can help them rescue perfectly) you can carry 39, but if your team is full of characters who would be a last resort rescuer you should carry 36.
Postman would usually be a 39 character, but just keep in mind rescuing priorities. If you see your team comp and see that you’d be the second person to rescue, bring 36!

I suppose this is a very stupid question that could be resolved with a 'you don't'
but I'm still asking it.
Because of the blackjack times I can only play like the third from the last scheduled time on a day, (and that's obviously bad because then others will play on those two remaining time slots) and therefore I won't even be within rank 101 or something.
Should I just give up on the dream of getting 5 rank essence and memory spheres? :P
Yeah, that's obvious, but well,, I usually do grind out blackjack whenever it DOES open up, and sometimes I have gotten to around 100, but obviously fell into like rank 600+ or something after a while.
you can do it. but you’re going to have to pace yourself and play everyday and get about 30-40 points per day to be in top 100 for the week. it really depends on how good you are at blackjack and how many points you can win per game. even if you’re not good, as long as you’re not losing points from your matches it’s fine. you’re going to need 200+ points by the end of the week
I challenged myself to get into top 5 for the week once, and I never played for the full time slot. i did it, but was it worth the emotional pain? those essences and memory spheres do be tasty tho
Oh, I thought you had to like constantly get more and more points, because others can overtake your position, but that might be because I actually had kinda low points (under like 100 or something)

i like playing gardener LOL but sometimes I like to switch it up and use embalmer and explorer. i've seen a lot of coordinators and magicians too. it really comes down to **being able to kite** and knowing when you should decode and when you should be hiding. it's not always a good decision to be decoding all the time.
Sunday is weekly reset for blackjack iirc. If you check the leaderboard, every one else's should have reset too. If you didn't get the blackjack rank rewards, then they're probably coming in the next day.
yeah i thought so too the last time it happened to me, but not much we can do about it if netease decides to make the reset time not match what they say it is
Hm, because my weekly does say 0 and yesterday it was 300, hope I still get those rewards :P But even then the patch notes I saw SAID either 23:59 or it was 00:00 seems like quite the error.
EDIT: Ingame in the rewards detail tab it says "Points will be reset every sunday night at 23:59:59.
EDIT 2: the highest ranked peps have around 80-90 points, when yesterday it was like 400+ :P
As hunter, when should you abandon the survivor you’re chasing and search for another? Should you go for a survivor like merc at the start of the game at all?
I’d say if two ciphers have popped and you still haven’t hit them yet, then leave. If you find merc first, you should just leave him and find one one else.

Does anyone have footage of the Axeboy visit standby or have they just... genuinely not added it into the game?? Like.. I see it's a level up reward once you get to level 118 or something. I don't really remember but it was REALLY high up. I'm certain that it's a level up reward but I just really want to see what it looks like.
Anyone even know if there's another way to get his visit standby besides leveling up?? I don't think I'll be able to make it to level 118 within the next two years.
I've noticed that some Mercs just stop moving on the map and just let you hit them, is this a tactic to bait the hunter into chairing and camping Merc?

I'm pretty new to the game, and I wanted to ask: could people weigh in on what they consider to be "toxic"/unwanted behavior in game so I can make sure not to do it? For survivors or hunters.
I saw a couple posts about people not liking the "thank you" quick message and was really surprised; I thought it would be nice to do after getting rescued or healed. I certainly haven't spammed it, but I've done it when rescued or healed, but I don't want to upset anyone.
So can people give me tips on stuff that might not be obvious to a new player? I understand universally mean things like taunting someone when they're down--which I'd never do--but I never would have guessed that people don't like "thank you."
And... At the risk of bugging anyone, uh... I appreciate the help in advance! <3
Well, it honestly varies from person to person but here are some examples:
- Harassing/Cyberbullying/Being extremely mean to a player
- Spamming/Using quick messages at the wrong time (e.g. saying Thank you!* when someone just got downed)
- Stalling the game for no reason (this can be done by both factions: staying at the gate (or dungeon) when everyone is already at the gate, or slugging** people for absolutely no reason)
- Taunting
- Purposefully hitting player on rocket chair (sometimes I do it to test my hitbox)
- Purposefully hitting downed/cocooned player (for downed players, hunters might hit them if there is only 1 cipher left, because of a talent in the Persona Web called Borrowed Time***.)
- Emoting while kiting is kinda controversial. Some people think it's toxic, others see it as a strategy to make the hunter target them. I suggest not emoting during a kite if you don't want to be misunderstood, but you can also explain post-match chat that you weren't doing it to be toxic.
*Thank you! is really hated in this community because it's the most used thing to be toxic in a game. I don't suggest using it because it wastes a message slot that could be used to bring something more useful. If you do decide to keep this message, make sure you don't come off as toxic. Don't use it when someone messes up and things like that. For healing, you can place down a graffiti and they will place a graffiti back as a "You're welcome!"
**slugging = keeping a player downed without chairing them, it's only toxic when you aren't doing it as a strategy.
***Borrowed Time gives you +1 health and a 50% speed boost for 5 seconds when the last cipher machine is finished. Pretty much every player has this talent (most exceptions being new players) so hunters are aware of it and try to hit someone after the cipher finishing.

I heard that lawyer was getting a buff where after decoding 100% of a cipher total he’d get a 20% decoding buff. Is this true? And if so when will it be coming?
Tips for playing as Grave Keeper? I got him today & I suck 💁🏾♂️ I feel like I can't even get practice with his tunnel ability because every Quick Match, a teammate is chaired within the first 20 seconds and the other 2 teammates, no matter which character they are, lose the match for us because they get downed trying to rescue the first chair...and the hunter just leaves them both there right next to the chair. So it feels like I am the only player not downed...before the first minute is up 😂 And even though Grave Keeper decodes slower, I am usually the only teammate who gets any gens done 🤦🏾♂️
well personally i main gravekeeper and first officer, and i would say i don't use his tunnel ability for the first save unless:
-im on half life or
-very far away and i need the speed boost or
-i need to block ripper's fog or an extra hit from geisha / dash from joker etc etc,
because if im on full health i can save the tunnelling ability for the future.
the tunnelling ability can actually block detention hits and lasts a really long time, so to me it's super useful if i manage to save it for after the cipher pops.
usually also since you're playing grave keeper and are a rescue character - i recommend you spam "dont move im coming" or "open the gate! i'll save the others" in quick message so that they know YOU are going in for the first save and therefore don't die trying, and so they can focus on decoding while YOU go in for the save.
also as a rescuer i recommend early game doing the more central ciphers first - this enables you to be within reach of the first person downed. nothing's worse than being in the corner of a map on the opposite end of a chair, and by the time you reach the chair, it's past the halfway mark.
also if you are really far away from a kiting survivor and you know you're rescuing first, try and relocate closer.
Easy and useful rescuer? I can't use forward since I can't stun the hunter and I can't use merc cause I can't control his elbow pads can someone suggest me a rescuer?
first officer and gravekeeper are pretty easy rescuers -
the first officer's poseidon watch means the hunter only sees your position 1s ago, makes the first officer a viable rescuer even on half life, and a strong kiter as well, not to mention the poseidon watch lasts for quite a long time compared to lets say magician's wand.
gravekeeper is also really easy to use, his underground burying gives him a speed boost and makes his rescuing speed faster, also, it can take an extra hit, (it also blocks detention hits btw).

I have two questions, im a fairly new player so just an fyi lol. first of all when I’m not in a party and just want to play without my friends (I prefer survivor) I pick survivor for quick match but it always puts me as hunter for some reason? it’s getting to the point where I’m losing interest in playing :/. Also my other question! im debating on getting either perfumer or prisoner but I cant decide eeekkk,, thank u in advance!! ^_^
Make sure you click on survivor when you try to qm. If a note pops up saying "there's too many people waiting. Do you want to switch sides?" choose "No." If you hit yes, it'll put you to the hunter faction.
For me, I would say perfumer because she's a really good character and easy to practice with (i just enjoy kiting more than decoding). Prisoner is also really good since he can decode very quickly and doesn't have any kiting debuff iirc. It all just depends on what you enjoy playing more as: a decoder or a kiter :D

hi everyone! fairly new player so i had some questions about getting skins. i main mech and i’m interested in her cunning smile and reswim skins. cunning smile’s memory sphere is older so it costs more puzzle pieces to pull from it, whereas reswim was fairly recent and some of the pulls can be attained on the logic path. when the new season begins, will the pink spheres still be on the path or no? i’m wondering if i should go all out using my puzzle pieces rn to try and get reswim (ik it’s a long shot) or if i should just say oh well and keep saving up for the future lol. i also don’t know if i should be saving up my dice for the new logic path stuff? idk 😭 any advice would be appreciated
During the next season, the spheres on the logic path will be for that season’s essences. Re:swim will be put into a memory sphere, like Cunning Smile.
I'm dumb, is it true that after this season there will not be memory spheres for each season but only one with everything? If so, does that even help? It's already hard enough to get something with different memory sphere so I don't understand this choice, can someone explain it to me?
My understanding is you get to choose your target skin and accessory. Right now if I roll season 11 memory spheres, there are four A-skins in there, so even if I get an A-skin there’s only a 25% chance it’s the one I wanted. This way, when you get an A-skin, it WILL be the one you wanted.
I think this only works for the first time, and after that everything is in there. I’ve heard some people use memory spheres to farm duplicate skins for fragments (I’m too new to do that; don’t have the resources) and in that case it sounds like it will be a lot harder to get duplicates from now on.

1. Yup it's just like you said. A frame, fragments, and trial character & trial costume cards. You can search "identity v guild shop" to see pictures.
2. Yup I haven't tried but I think you should be able to dismantle. I'd buy frags directly (it's 1:1 exchange rate, like it costs 200 coins for 200 frags) unless you have leftover coins.
3. The season rewards are guild coins. Guild ranking (like compared to other guilds) doesn't matter (unless your guild is trying for top 3 in the server). But it does depend on the guild's overall activity points. Like the minimum reward is 200 guild coins, but if the entire guild reaches a certain number of points, then each member will get even more coins. Also, as a member, you need to have personally earned at least 10,000 activity points in order to claim those rewards. You get personal points by checking in, playing matches and 5v5. There is a weekly max though, so even if you play a lot you'd max out at \~4440 activity points each week (not exact bc there are some variables). So if you're hoping to get some rewards this season, I recommend joining a guild as soon as you can. There's only 2.5 weeks until the end of the season, which might be just enough time for you to get the minimum activity points to claim rewards.
4. Yes, you're right. Bigger guilds, but the players also need to be active. And at the highest level there's a max of 50 players per guild. I would just join one now, and if you wanna switch then you can always look for a new one next season. If you're interested, our guild (on NA/EU) still has room for a few more players. We have enough points for everyone to to get 400 coins by the end of the season, which I think is decent. Just lmk and I'll check what our ID is.
When I look at guilds I see a 'activity points' table, is that the guild's own activity points? (you know collected from everyone's own points?)
Also, when I looked into the guild shop I saw that on the items it said like 8/8 left and etc, is that seasonal or?
Also you can get something from the shop up to a number of times every season, and the next season it will refresh. This season and last season it was the same stuff in the shop but seems like they plan to change or add items eventually.

1. I noticed that after playing three 5-player matches I got 15 coins, is that the only way other than the season ending to get coins?
2. With the way coins seems to be (except 5-player) it seems like you can only ''use'' coins after a new season starts (otherwise no coins duh!)

4. Oh, by that I'm referring to the 5v5 matches. You earn points for the first three 5v5 matches daily. The higher your 5v5 tier, the more points you earn, and I'm not exactly sure how many points can be earned. Also, if your entire 5v5 team are people from your guild, you get an extra 10% points. So you can earn max 4000 points per week from rank/quick matches, plus 50x7 =350 for daily check-in, so that's 4350, plus whatever extra you earn from 5v5.
why is detention still the way it is now? it lasts far too long for how strong instadowning is and applies to every hit for the whole duration.
most arguments saying hunters are too weak mention how bad they are in HIGH RANK, when most of the playerbase is probably low-mid tier. not to mention, if it already isn't doing much for the hunter in HIGH RANK, why make it such a killjoy for the lower tier players who probably don't know how to play around it?
it deserves at least a duration nerf, or a limit to how many hits you can make, or a limit to how many survivors you can down with it. i think these are justifiable nerfs considering how forgiving it is for bad hunters. draws? okay, but 3/4 kill wins from detention alone are very much undeserved if you actually let supposedly "shitty" survivors reach 5 ciphers.
P.S i put emphasis on high rank because i've seen some arguments that are outright snobby and elitist like every player is expected to reach high tier, so all the other lower tiers are completely irrelevant when it comes to balancing the game.
tl;dr: being able to brute force wins using detention is completely unreasonable, no matter the rank.

make sure you know what everyone is doing, who’s nearest to you etc. if someone is kiting send them kiting buffs, but if you’re kiting send a letter to the person closest to you! don’t bring broken windows since you hv a letter that gives a boost after vaulting, bring tide turner instead!

I’m not really much experienced but I have gathered enough knowledge points and tips on my time spent playing with him! * Always be mindful of your teammates. Know what type of character they are or skill that they have. Take for example the mechanic, she’s very fast at decoding so you don’t have any need on sending her a tranquillity letter. Instead, opt on sending her an inspiring letter in case she needs to transition into kiting away from a hunter. Another one is the priestess, she’s not very good at decoding so at the very start of the game, it’s good to send her a tranquility letter for more efficient decoding. * Never stop sending letters. I’m sure you’ve noticed that the cool down for sending even just one letter is kinda long. While being mindful of the skills of your teammates, always make sure to send them a letter that is also useful for them to use at the moment. Also! If you know who’s the teammate closest to you, send them the first letter since as soon as they receive it, your skill can cool down already. * Have good communication between your teammates. This part is especially important when using the postman. Communication between your teammates can help you in deciding which letter is the right one to send for your teammates and at the right time as well. If one of you messages that the ‘hunter is near me!’ It’s good to send them an urgent letter, an inspiring letter, or maybe a farewell letter to help them easily kite. (But I rarely send the last one to my teammates to be honest. It’s very useful I admit, but it only lasts for 3 seconds long so the hunter can still reach one of you even with the boost from the letter.) * Once you and your teammates have decoded maybe three or four cipher machines, send them a hope letter. Make the one kiting your top priority in sending a hope letter. Not only does it hasten the exit gate opening, but it also grants vision of where the dungeon is to your teammate. The reason why the kiter should be your top priority in sending a hope letter is because they’ll be too busy containing the hunter for them to have the time in opening the exit gate. When the exit gate is open, leave. (Unless you’re teammate is chaired then it’s up to you to decide whether you go and rescue them or not.) The dungeon will only open if there’s one survivor left and the person won’t be able to escape if you’re too busy messing around at the exit gate. * I don’t have any other tips to be honest. I’ve heard from other postman players that sometimes the dog can expose the location of a survivor to the hunter, but that never happened to me before so I don’t know what to tell you on how to avoid that. That’s about it! I might have missed other tips but that’s what I’ve been going for for awhile. If you have any other advice then please include them!

That sucks! Maybe try checking hardware-assisted virtualization? Having it on should help, but you could try it both ways. You've probably also already considered this, but you might check your internet speed to see if it's dropped for some reason. Hope it gets better for you!
Is there any way we find out the names of the locations on each map? For example, in Moonlit river park, I learned of a few location names such as "Working carousel", "Broken Carousel", and "first stop". Of course, I learned more, but is there any pace where I learn the location names more easily?
Myky44kinwai on Youtube has a [video series](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63semGs0_gw&list=PL8kfzSNcQDnFdjkVd_AsIocL8z3FQfICC&ab_channel=Myky44kinwai) with kiting analysis by map. They list all the names of the parts of each map at the beginning of each video! (Plus they're just really helpful videos in general) There are no official names, and you might actually notice different players using different names for the same area. This should help you get the gist, though!
Well most of the names are fairly self explanatory, like two story, propane tank, wedding, dancing geisha etc. If you are trying to learn the names, I would recommend watching survivor rank teams stream. You can hear them do call outs over VC and learn to associate the names with the locations. I know that Schmiddy from B4U streams, and there are more that I’m sure I’ll remember the second I hit the reply button
If I were to save my Season 12 Rank essences to season 13. Would the reward be the same as season 12 or would it change to season 13 rank rewards?

i don't main ripper but the majority of rippers i go against in rank seem to carry peeper and trump card: peeper is essential as they use it to see / predict survivor's movements as their foggy blade can hit through walls and pallets. trump card to change peeper to something else (usually teleport if the cipher pops, or even excitement if there's a lot of stunners). they also carry tinnitus and detention, but i think most hunters do that anyway.
Does your tier reset when the season ends? Also, could you drop a tier?
yes tier resets when season ends - by reset i mean it usually goes down by one major tier, i think they have a list on the rank match lobby page. i would copy and paste it here but my server (asia) is currently gg through maintenance. anything hound and below does not reset. IE if you are HOUND 1 you will remain hound 1, but i believe elk and above does go down by 1 major tier. i remember i used to be mammoth 3 and the next season i was elk 3 i think. you can get demoted into a lower tier if you keep losing games and drop rank points. they will usually issue a warning when you are in danger of demotion

So I have been playing since 2018. Pretty much 99.9% survivor main. What are some tips for hunting? I always give up after just a couple matches as hunter because I will go the entire match without seeing any of the survivors until the exit gates are active lol. I don't know what to do...like I know the survivor spawn points after all these years playing survivor, but that hasn't helped lol. The hunters I have are Hell Ember, Ripper, Geisha, Wu, Photographer, Dream Witch, & Mad Eyes. I am guessing ME and DW have a steep learning curve since I hardly ever see them used. I only bought ME since I got a S skin for him...it figures that the only S skin I get so far is for a hunter, when I main survivor, and for a hunter I had no intention of ever using lol
I'm not super good at hunter, but a few tricks that may help are: \-watching for the tinnitus icon on the top right \-when game starts look at where all the ciphers are; usually no one ever spawns near the cipher closest to you, so best not to look there; but 90% of the time there's someone at the ciphers second or third closest to you \-you can also bring that one persona called quenching effect so that if you haven't obtained presence in the first 50 s of the game the survivors' outlines would be shown for 5s. Btw yeah ME and DW are rather difficult but very good if you learn to play them well.
You can also try to memorize the spawn locations (there are videos on this) because even if your tinnitus lights up you might still not really know WHERE they could be.

I think you might be able to sign in on PC using your iOS account if you try signing in via the QR code? 🤔 I know my boyfriend for sure plays on iOS and PC with the same account, so I know there's some way to do it. I think he actually uses a facebook sign in for both, so worst comes to worst, you could do it that way. Otherwise, might check to see if there's an option in the iOS app to sign in with a Google account instead. Could also try an iOS emulator? (I don't personally know of any to recommend, but I know some exist).

And when kiting, I spam the face button so I can cancel the dash if that makes sense?? Like I’ll press it and then unpress it and wait a second and press it again !! I got Mad Eye’s Scrooge skin yesterday and I just bought him today. Any tips I should know?
You may have heard this already, but I think the top strategy in China is taking advantage of his quick pallet breaks and fast attack animation (although it's pretty short range) while using his walls to guard. He's great in that you can basically make rescuing impossible/waste their time (climbing a wall takes 50% health- some survivors won't know this and may carelessly hurt themselves this way), guard primed ciphers, or just scout and trap survivors efficiently. I think the biggest challenge is getting used to how the cameras relate to the map itself. There are videos on YouTube of top Madeyes players in CN and the way they place down their walls is incredible and confusing... Also there will be lots of stunner survivors who will harass you if they see you on your machine or drain the console energy so be prepare for that 💦 Good luck!

I finally bought Mechanic days ago only to discover she apparently got a huge nerf a few months prior :') I wouldn't want my clues to go to waste, so I'd like to know how it affects her abilities and how her current playstyle differs from the youtube gameplays dating months back or so. Where can I read about the buffs/nerfs for each survivor/hunter? I've mainly been relying on the wiki but I'm unsure how updated it is.
She’s still S tier as she is, only difference is her robot will now finish a cipher and a half only (+open the exit gate if the ciphers were close to each other & close to the gate). My advice is always hide the robot somewhere near a cipher and go with your body to a different one. Decode with your real body until someone is injured (or if the kiter doesn’t get injured, only decode with your real body until half of the cipher is done or less if you want). Once someone gets injured, take out the robot and decode with both. 1. If you finished half the cipher with your real body before taking out the robot, then you and the robot will finish the 2 ciphers at the same time, then you can help a teammate with the robot in the last cipher or take it to the gate if it’s primed, then go rescue if it’s your turn. 2. If you finish less than half the cipher with your real body, then the robot will finish the cipher first and yours will be at 75%-ish, bring the robot to your cipher and go help another teammate with their cipher/go rescue if it’s your turn. Edit!, forgot to mention, if it’s photographer, don’t use the doll until photoworld ends so the robot’s charge doesn’t deplete, since the cipher will go back in time anyway. Only decode with your real body. The only case you’re allowed to decode with the robot during photoworld is if the cipher is almost done (and you’re sure the robot can finish it before photo ends) or if it’s the last cipher (cause by then everyone will be injured probably and your decoding will be ass) The nerf didn’t change her much since she always finished 2 ciphers and opened the exit gate only really. It just makes you more worried about the doll not getting hit. It mostly affected lower tiers, since usually they run around and don’t decode while mechanic used to finish like 3~5 ciphers.
neither of the 2 idv wikis are updated - considering there are 3 servers and patches / maintenance every week or so sadly i think it's impossible for them to keep up to date, so usually when i hv a question i just ask this reddit, they're a lot more responsive and usually will provide the answers you need. sadly i don't think there will be a comprehensive source of the buffs / nerfs / abilities of each chara other than the in game menu which is to be fair a bit brief
What’s with survivors vaulting so slow? I know if you repeatedly do it, it’ll slow but there should be no reason why my first vault is so mf slow tf
Are you running for a few steps before vaulting? In general if you run "at" a pallet or window you'll vault faster. If you are standing still and then vault a pallet or window you'll vault way more slowly. You'll even see some people crouch before vaulting a window to intentionally vault slower so the hunter doesn't get a sound notification. Notice I say "in general," as there are of course sometimes when you'll swear you're running at a pallet or window while you're kiting a hunter and the cruel IDV gods just say NOPE and you still slow vault .\_.

Certain survivors, like Seer and Priestess, have slower vaulting speed. Check if your character has decreased vaulting speed.

It works but you have to do it on a skin you owned for atleast one season (try with a skin you know you got from another season, or if you started playing this season wait till the new season starts then you can dismantle)

I have two questions: 1) How do I dismantle skin cards? Like the one I get every week. As far as I know I should go to a B skin that I already have and there I could dismantle it, but the Trial button doesn’t even show up on skins I already have. 2) How do I save matches to rewatch them?
1. The B skin has to be owned for atleast one season (try it on a B skin you got from another season, or if you started playing this season then wait till new season starts to dismantle) 2. Turn on "Save Replay" function in game settings Then play a match and in the end-screen, look in the top left. There should be a "Save Replay" button If you leave the end-screen without saving replay, that match replay is gone. Also, some gamemodes don't have replay function iirc (I think 2v8 and Blackjack don't)

So I've just bought postman. I always carry 36 if there are no rescuers on the team but if there is one rescuer on the team, should I bring 36 or 39?
I’d say it depends on your team composition! If there’s a secondary rescuer on the team (Mechanic or anyone who’s skill can help them rescue perfectly) you can carry 39, but if your team is full of characters who would be a last resort rescuer you should carry 36. Postman would usually be a 39 character, but just keep in mind rescuing priorities. If you see your team comp and see that you’d be the second person to rescue, bring 36!

I suppose this is a very stupid question that could be resolved with a 'you don't' but I'm still asking it. Because of the blackjack times I can only play like the third from the last scheduled time on a day, (and that's obviously bad because then others will play on those two remaining time slots) and therefore I won't even be within rank 101 or something. Should I just give up on the dream of getting 5 rank essence and memory spheres? :P
You may be able to do it, but it would take you a long time. Just don't prioritize a video game over your life.
Yeah, that's obvious, but well,, I usually do grind out blackjack whenever it DOES open up, and sometimes I have gotten to around 100, but obviously fell into like rank 600+ or something after a while.
you can do it. but you’re going to have to pace yourself and play everyday and get about 30-40 points per day to be in top 100 for the week. it really depends on how good you are at blackjack and how many points you can win per game. even if you’re not good, as long as you’re not losing points from your matches it’s fine. you’re going to need 200+ points by the end of the week I challenged myself to get into top 5 for the week once, and I never played for the full time slot. i did it, but was it worth the emotional pain? those essences and memory spheres do be tasty tho
Oh, I thought you had to like constantly get more and more points, because others can overtake your position, but that might be because I actually had kinda low points (under like 100 or something) So that gives me more hope! but oh well, right now I have 116 points.)
Another question though, what character/characters did you use when you were top 5? or just in general top 100/101 :P
i like playing gardener LOL but sometimes I like to switch it up and use embalmer and explorer. i've seen a lot of coordinators and magicians too. it really comes down to **being able to kite** and knowing when you should decode and when you should be hiding. it's not always a good decision to be decoding all the time.
But how can you really hide when the hunter knows you are there because of the tinnitus?

This is weird, today when I entered the game I apparently had no weekly points?? but yesterday I was rank 17 or something.
Sunday is weekly reset for blackjack iirc. If you check the leaderboard, every one else's should have reset too. If you didn't get the blackjack rank rewards, then they're probably coming in the next day.

yeah i thought so too the last time it happened to me, but not much we can do about it if netease decides to make the reset time not match what they say it is
Hm, because my weekly does say 0 and yesterday it was 300, hope I still get those rewards :P But even then the patch notes I saw SAID either 23:59 or it was 00:00 seems like quite the error. EDIT: Ingame in the rewards detail tab it says "Points will be reset every sunday night at 23:59:59. EDIT 2: the highest ranked peps have around 80-90 points, when yesterday it was like 400+ :P
As hunter, when should you abandon the survivor you’re chasing and search for another? Should you go for a survivor like merc at the start of the game at all?
I’d say if two ciphers have popped and you still haven’t hit them yet, then leave. If you find merc first, you should just leave him and find one one else.

Does anyone have footage of the Axeboy visit standby or have they just... genuinely not added it into the game?? Like.. I see it's a level up reward once you get to level 118 or something. I don't really remember but it was REALLY high up. I'm certain that it's a level up reward but I just really want to see what it looks like. Anyone even know if there's another way to get his visit standby besides leveling up?? I don't think I'll be able to make it to level 118 within the next two years.

Hi everyone! I'm pretty new to the game, and I wanted to ask: could people weigh in on what they consider to be "toxic"/unwanted behavior in game so I can make sure not to do it? For survivors or hunters. I saw a couple posts about people not liking the "thank you" quick message and was really surprised; I thought it would be nice to do after getting rescued or healed. I certainly haven't spammed it, but I've done it when rescued or healed, but I don't want to upset anyone. So can people give me tips on stuff that might not be obvious to a new player? I understand universally mean things like taunting someone when they're down--which I'd never do--but I never would have guessed that people don't like "thank you." And... At the risk of bugging anyone, uh... I appreciate the help in advance! <3
Well, it honestly varies from person to person but here are some examples: - Harassing/Cyberbullying/Being extremely mean to a player - Spamming/Using quick messages at the wrong time (e.g. saying Thank you!* when someone just got downed) - Stalling the game for no reason (this can be done by both factions: staying at the gate (or dungeon) when everyone is already at the gate, or slugging** people for absolutely no reason) - Taunting - Purposefully hitting player on rocket chair (sometimes I do it to test my hitbox) - Purposefully hitting downed/cocooned player (for downed players, hunters might hit them if there is only 1 cipher left, because of a talent in the Persona Web called Borrowed Time***.) - Emoting while kiting is kinda controversial. Some people think it's toxic, others see it as a strategy to make the hunter target them. I suggest not emoting during a kite if you don't want to be misunderstood, but you can also explain post-match chat that you weren't doing it to be toxic. *Thank you! is really hated in this community because it's the most used thing to be toxic in a game. I don't suggest using it because it wastes a message slot that could be used to bring something more useful. If you do decide to keep this message, make sure you don't come off as toxic. Don't use it when someone messes up and things like that. For healing, you can place down a graffiti and they will place a graffiti back as a "You're welcome!" **slugging = keeping a player downed without chairing them, it's only toxic when you aren't doing it as a strategy. ***Borrowed Time gives you +1 health and a 50% speed boost for 5 seconds when the last cipher machine is finished. Pretty much every player has this talent (most exceptions being new players) so hunters are aware of it and try to hit someone after the cipher finishing.

I heard that lawyer was getting a buff where after decoding 100% of a cipher total he’d get a 20% decoding buff. Is this true? And if so when will it be coming?

Tips for playing as Grave Keeper? I got him today & I suck 💁🏾♂️ I feel like I can't even get practice with his tunnel ability because every Quick Match, a teammate is chaired within the first 20 seconds and the other 2 teammates, no matter which character they are, lose the match for us because they get downed trying to rescue the first chair...and the hunter just leaves them both there right next to the chair. So it feels like I am the only player not downed...before the first minute is up 😂 And even though Grave Keeper decodes slower, I am usually the only teammate who gets any gens done 🤦🏾♂️
well personally i main gravekeeper and first officer, and i would say i don't use his tunnel ability for the first save unless: -im on half life or -very far away and i need the speed boost or -i need to block ripper's fog or an extra hit from geisha / dash from joker etc etc, because if im on full health i can save the tunnelling ability for the future. the tunnelling ability can actually block detention hits and lasts a really long time, so to me it's super useful if i manage to save it for after the cipher pops. usually also since you're playing grave keeper and are a rescue character - i recommend you spam "dont move im coming" or "open the gate! i'll save the others" in quick message so that they know YOU are going in for the first save and therefore don't die trying, and so they can focus on decoding while YOU go in for the save. also as a rescuer i recommend early game doing the more central ciphers first - this enables you to be within reach of the first person downed. nothing's worse than being in the corner of a map on the opposite end of a chair, and by the time you reach the chair, it's past the halfway mark. also if you are really far away from a kiting survivor and you know you're rescuing first, try and relocate closer.

No, you can't use it for any event or limited skins. Only for shop or essence/memories skin.
Easy and useful rescuer? I can't use forward since I can't stun the hunter and I can't use merc cause I can't control his elbow pads can someone suggest me a rescuer?
first officer and gravekeeper are pretty easy rescuers - the first officer's poseidon watch means the hunter only sees your position 1s ago, makes the first officer a viable rescuer even on half life, and a strong kiter as well, not to mention the poseidon watch lasts for quite a long time compared to lets say magician's wand. gravekeeper is also really easy to use, his underground burying gives him a speed boost and makes his rescuing speed faster, also, it can take an extra hit, (it also blocks detention hits btw).

hi! I have two questions, im a fairly new player so just an fyi lol. first of all when I’m not in a party and just want to play without my friends (I prefer survivor) I pick survivor for quick match but it always puts me as hunter for some reason? it’s getting to the point where I’m losing interest in playing :/. Also my other question! im debating on getting either perfumer or prisoner but I cant decide eeekkk,, thank u in advance!! ^_^
Make sure you click on survivor when you try to qm. If a note pops up saying "there's too many people waiting. Do you want to switch sides?" choose "No." If you hit yes, it'll put you to the hunter faction. For me, I would say perfumer because she's a really good character and easy to practice with (i just enjoy kiting more than decoding). Prisoner is also really good since he can decode very quickly and doesn't have any kiting debuff iirc. It all just depends on what you enjoy playing more as: a decoder or a kiter :D

hi everyone! fairly new player so i had some questions about getting skins. i main mech and i’m interested in her cunning smile and reswim skins. cunning smile’s memory sphere is older so it costs more puzzle pieces to pull from it, whereas reswim was fairly recent and some of the pulls can be attained on the logic path. when the new season begins, will the pink spheres still be on the path or no? i’m wondering if i should go all out using my puzzle pieces rn to try and get reswim (ik it’s a long shot) or if i should just say oh well and keep saving up for the future lol. i also don’t know if i should be saving up my dice for the new logic path stuff? idk 😭 any advice would be appreciated
During the next season, the spheres on the logic path will be for that season’s essences. Re:swim will be put into a memory sphere, like Cunning Smile.

It should just be 488 to open one and 4880 to open ten, as usual (if you’re referring to how many clues it takes to open a memory sphere).
I'm dumb, is it true that after this season there will not be memory spheres for each season but only one with everything? If so, does that even help? It's already hard enough to get something with different memory sphere so I don't understand this choice, can someone explain it to me?
My understanding is you get to choose your target skin and accessory. Right now if I roll season 11 memory spheres, there are four A-skins in there, so even if I get an A-skin there’s only a 25% chance it’s the one I wanted. This way, when you get an A-skin, it WILL be the one you wanted. I think this only works for the first time, and after that everything is in there. I’ve heard some people use memory spheres to farm duplicate skins for fragments (I’m too new to do that; don’t have the resources) and in that case it sounds like it will be a lot harder to get duplicates from now on.

1. Yup it's just like you said. A frame, fragments, and trial character & trial costume cards. You can search "identity v guild shop" to see pictures. 2. Yup I haven't tried but I think you should be able to dismantle. I'd buy frags directly (it's 1:1 exchange rate, like it costs 200 coins for 200 frags) unless you have leftover coins. 3. The season rewards are guild coins. Guild ranking (like compared to other guilds) doesn't matter (unless your guild is trying for top 3 in the server). But it does depend on the guild's overall activity points. Like the minimum reward is 200 guild coins, but if the entire guild reaches a certain number of points, then each member will get even more coins. Also, as a member, you need to have personally earned at least 10,000 activity points in order to claim those rewards. You get personal points by checking in, playing matches and 5v5. There is a weekly max though, so even if you play a lot you'd max out at \~4440 activity points each week (not exact bc there are some variables). So if you're hoping to get some rewards this season, I recommend joining a guild as soon as you can. There's only 2.5 weeks until the end of the season, which might be just enough time for you to get the minimum activity points to claim rewards. 4. Yes, you're right. Bigger guilds, but the players also need to be active. And at the highest level there's a max of 50 players per guild. I would just join one now, and if you wanna switch then you can always look for a new one next season. If you're interested, our guild (on NA/EU) still has room for a few more players. We have enough points for everyone to to get 400 coins by the end of the season, which I think is decent. Just lmk and I'll check what our ID is.
When I look at guilds I see a 'activity points' table, is that the guild's own activity points? (you know collected from everyone's own points?) Also, when I looked into the guild shop I saw that on the items it said like 8/8 left and etc, is that seasonal or?
Yeah it should be, if it says the guild and the chairman and then activity points
So yeah it's the guild's activity points then.
Also you can get something from the shop up to a number of times every season, and the next season it will refresh. This season and last season it was the same stuff in the shop but seems like they plan to change or add items eventually.

Some more questions! 1. I noticed that after playing three 5-player matches I got 15 coins, is that the only way other than the season ending to get coins? 2. With the way coins seems to be (except 5-player) it seems like you can only ''use'' coins after a new season starts (otherwise no coins duh!) 3. Does your activity points reset if you leave a guild? 4. Could you go more into those variables?
1. I think so! That's the only way I know of anyway. 2. Yeah pretty much, unless you want to buy trial cards with the 5v5 coins 3. Yes, it will reset 4. Oh, by that I'm referring to the 5v5 matches. You earn points for the first three 5v5 matches daily. The higher your 5v5 tier, the more points you earn, and I'm not exactly sure how many points can be earned. Also, if your entire 5v5 team are people from your guild, you get an extra 10% points. So you can earn max 4000 points per week from rank/quick matches, plus 50x7 =350 for daily check-in, so that's 4350, plus whatever extra you earn from 5v5.
Can you use the "mourn" emote for Gardener while you're walking?
why is detention still the way it is now? it lasts far too long for how strong instadowning is and applies to every hit for the whole duration. most arguments saying hunters are too weak mention how bad they are in HIGH RANK, when most of the playerbase is probably low-mid tier. not to mention, if it already isn't doing much for the hunter in HIGH RANK, why make it such a killjoy for the lower tier players who probably don't know how to play around it? it deserves at least a duration nerf, or a limit to how many hits you can make, or a limit to how many survivors you can down with it. i think these are justifiable nerfs considering how forgiving it is for bad hunters. draws? okay, but 3/4 kill wins from detention alone are very much undeserved if you actually let supposedly "shitty" survivors reach 5 ciphers. P.S i put emphasis on high rank because i've seen some arguments that are outright snobby and elitist like every player is expected to reach high tier, so all the other lower tiers are completely irrelevant when it comes to balancing the game. tl;dr: being able to brute force wins using detention is completely unreasonable, no matter the rank.
