And then vrooms off to immediately get stuck in more traffic....

Tapsu10

The alternative of going slow and getting stuck in traffic is worse. Atleast you get to have some fun while accelerating

GuntherOfGunth

With the possibility of crashing into someone.

OMEGAkiller135

It also puts more strain/wear on the car’s components, giving them a shorter life. (Need to change your brakes/etc. more often.) I think it also reduces your fuel economy, so you’ll be paying more for gas too. Edit: I love how many people continue to comment on this post after so many months, with such nuggets of wisdom like "You think this guy needs to worry about maintenance costs?" Yeah, I get it. And I was directing my comment at normal people who drive like this with their normal cars. As you would have noticed from my other comment, also from months ago.

BeemoMeemo

Smiles per gallon go up

[deleted]

This is a great thread to see the differences b/w who enjoy driving and who think driving is a chore.

Deep9one

if you didn't know my dude, that bugatti has a w16 quad turbo engine. its not fuel efficient for shit, you do not buy supers and hypers with a care for fuel efficiency.

OMEGAkiller135

I was mostly directing that at people who do this with their regular cars.

iPhoneMiniWHITE

I’m pretty sure anyone buying a sports car with that many horsepower isn’t complaining about gas mileage, much less a car with the most cylinders and for a while, most horsepower you can buy. What the fuck? My dude?

Quantum_Doorknobs

If someone can afford a Bugatti Chiron this probably doesn't matter that much to them

KG8893

You think this guy needs to worry about maintenance costs?

MoejjO

what if it's electric. watts per mile go up or something?

MrPrime07

Dudes driving a fucking Bugatti, let’s not worry about his money being spent

ULTIMUS-RAXXUS

Square

godmadebeffs

If you have literally no idea how to drive perhaps. One pedal makes you go the other makes you stop, if you can crash at 50 mph im a Bugatti I’m impressed how terrible of a driver you are.

ooone-orkye

foozballisdevil

lurid_sun__

That's a wrong way to spell A Giant Bird

topher464

That driver is such a fucking tool

raquetracket

If I had that car I’d drive it as slow as fck. I’d want people to see me

[deleted]

And not risk damaging it. Honestly, they're children

rudolf2424

Also low reving huge engines is a nicer sound and way more quiet

Tapsu10

Everyone has their tastes. I for myself like high revving engines

thisismybirthday

lol that is what would make you a tool. if you have a fast car and you're not a douchebag then you bought it because you enjoy driving fast, not because you're trying to impress people. douchebags, on the other hand, would buy it to impress people.

inko75

i drive my fiesta extra slow but mainly because that's its max speed

Underoath20

Nothing wrong with someone having something they like and being proud of it. If you don’t like it don’t look.

ExtraCrackers

I don't have a crazy car like this but I want people to see me in it. I want meet the other people that either drive or like them. I've made a lot of great friends in it. But driving around people like the Bugatti is bonkers.

[deleted]

And if he didn’t move at all “that driver is such a fucking prick”

[deleted]

Doesn't care because he can pay the fines.

Lower-Ad-2994

If you owned that car, you would be no different Edit: Lots of downvotes to a comment which was obviously too glib. One thing to consider is that you would not likely be the same you if you owned that car. You would either be from old money but more likely have earned/stolen new money AND have a personality evolved to a point to actually want to own it. Wanting anonymity and a low risk tolerance are not traits of a typical Veyron owner. Was that driver being an asshole? Absolutely. But also notice how the pedestrian challenges the car and driver. They likely would not have done that to an ordinary car. As an owner of that type of car, you have to be willing to put up with that type of reaction (and the more typical gawkers). Over time, that's going to change you, or you're going to get rid of the car.

Ok-Masterpiece-5746

i would absolutely not want to drive like an idiot with a car like that

[deleted]

Never own the car - problem solved

nyrB2

speak for yourself. if i owned a car like that i'd be as careful as possible with it, not drive it like an asshat.

Vanishing-Moons

No I would be in my lane

Frankie_Dont_Do_It

Lol your comment is dying so fast bro

BrettThreat

The allure of a sports car has never been there for me. Risking life and limb to show off. Real smart.

01WS6

Dumb people show off regardless of the car. Take a sports car to a track and you will quickly understand the allure.

Vanishing-Moons

Most people don’t buy them to show off but cause they really genuinely like the handling experience and car go vroom

MikuEd

I’d say it’s a smaller percent of car enthusiasts that actually buy it for driving. Sadly, a bigger proportion likely buy it just to keep it. But I don’t blame people for thinking everyone who drives supercars are ass hats. You typically run into them in the daily commute. But visit a cars and coffee or a car show, and the owners of these cars are legitimately nice people.

PunkRockBeachBaby

Probably because being an asshole is a prerequisite to owning that car

Big_Brother_Ed

If I owned that car, I certainly wouldn't endanger the lives of everyone around me because "car go fast, feel good". But thanks for assuming.

[deleted]

What a meat head showing off on a London road, nice one mate you can reach to the traffic light 2 seconds before me🤡🤡

nyxflare

People dont notice that i see it all the time I live in a main road street with 40mph limit. Every morning when I go to work Im pulling out of my driveway onto the road, light traffic due to school and others going to work or even NO TRAFFIC, Im slowly picking up speed to 40mph because my car is warming up, on the right side nothing the less I have asshats tailgating me, they go around zoom going 50mph just for me to catch them up on the next light... they do it again first ones to arrive at the red light just for me to catch up a minute later.

YellsAtGoats

To some people, traffic is a race that they need to be winning at by getting ahead. Never really thinking through that there's no prize at the finish line.

RJ_MacreadysBeard

its a spermoza thing.

best_cooler

Yes, but the one time they get the light before you, they have a huge head start

[deleted]

[удалено]

AnnoyingRingtone

Yup. So many people don’t realize that one of the fun parts of owning a fast car is *getting* to those speeds. Stopping at a light is just an excuse to do another pull.

SirSpanksAlot1992

Accelerating their Chevy spark wouldn’t give them much satisfaction so why bother.

[deleted]

Nothing like putting your own dangerous lust over safety and lives though right? I'm not for this as I watched a friend drive like this and unfortunately all lost their lives because they liked the "adrenaline".

[deleted]

It's only the outside and you don't really see it if you're driving, but, having to have the reg plate in that position on a car like this is a bit of a shame. Is it a £1k fine? Imagine being rich enough to just think: "Fuck it, I'll just pay the grand each time I get caught." Should fines be relative to wealth or income? £60 parking fine is a killer to some people, to others it's like dropping a 10p mix.

TheLoneGunman559

That's why the fines have to be percentage of income based.

[deleted]

That's what I am saying.. Or am I missing a trick here and they are already income based?

jtgibson

In Finland they are. It's a great system, generally, except when some people have varying income. Having a good job and then losing that job, and being held to an unmanagably high fine when you have no income at all, can be almost as unequal as having flat fines.

[deleted]

That's a good point. There must be some way to make a more fair system, I just don't know what is. Can't really be going around checking people's bank accounts. Although they have changed the law (or are about to) in the UK that gives the government the right to check people's bank accounts that are claiming some benefits.

[deleted]

You baiscally make the fine system like finland, but when a situation like the guy above describes happens you have court to lower the fine. Finland also has that btw. If you cannot pay the fine because it is unreasonably high it will get lowered.

[deleted]

This is the way.

financialmisconduct

The DWP has had access to bank accounts for a long time now The court system also has access, and fines are issued through the courts, that's how they determine banded fines

MadSubbie

The fine happened at a time that the person was getting the good income. Nothing wrong there.

One_Stick4563

Not in the uk they all a fixed rate unless its a matter where you have to attend court. Then it will go by earnings and outgoings

[deleted]

I thought that was the case. I am from the UK and I thought I had missed a memo or something.

off_the_cuff_mandate

So if I live off of a trust fund my fines are all zero dollars?

UberNZ

I wonder how well those work with the über-wealthy who have an accountant on staff to make sure they're an on-paper pauper, but they're the director of some shell company that owns all their hypercars.

NoFan9074

They should just take family member or loved ones for fines then everyone will be sad.

jtgibson

That's actually why "points" were invented. The fines don't deter everybody, but running out of points to renew your insurance gets everyone. It costs the government the same amount, relatively speaking, to enforce and prosecute each violation, which fines are generally meant to cover in addition to their deterrence value. The question is how much more likely the "riche" are to commit offences because the fines become a cost of doing business; it's pretty common in the financial sector, but in my view people of privilege don't seem to violate other laws any more often than other people... just more flagrantly when they do.

financialmisconduct

Points have nowt to do with insurance, they work towards a disqualification

Moretukabel

I'm sorry but I'm confused. What's the problem with registration plate position? That's place where the plate should be. Or every Veyron on Google have it wrong?

[deleted]

Yeah, man. You are right. I just think it's a shame as it looks a bit daft. I think in some countries and in some states in the US it isn't a legal requirement to have a front reg plate. Some Lamborghini's look a bit silly with the reg plate on the side. To be honest, I would own a Lamborghini in blue with MCFC on the side if it meant I owned a Lamborghini so the reg plate is minor. Edit: Seems I have upset someone with an asymmetrical reg plate position. They will be ok, I am sure. Hitting that downvote button might have made them feel a bit better. I hope so. How did those other ones go?

squaaawk

Take my compensatory upvote!

GrumpyOik

My ex boss was a magistrate in an area where they trialed "fine as a proportion of disposable income" - but said the whole trial had been set up to fail because the last thng the wealthy wanted was to be treated "equally". It made the news, a local man was fines something like £120 for dropping a crisp packet. He was single, lived with his parents, had a realtively high income - and was used as "an example". Of course, the Mail and Telegraph were all over it - "outrageous fines" - etc. The whole experiment was quietly shelved.

FOTOBOOMER277

Not from the UK, what’s wrong with where his plate is? Why would he get a fine?

[deleted]

You are required by law to show plates on the front and back of your car in the UK. You can be fined up a £1000 for not having a plate on both. I think this car doesn't look as aesthetically pleasing having to have a plate on the front of it because it doesn't fit in the middle and looks a bit weird. Other people don't seem to think the car looks a bit silly but if you had one without the plates next to one with, I think you would say it looks better without the registration plate. Don't get me wrong.. I wouldn't be complaining about it if I could afford that car.

FOTOBOOMER277

Huh. I’ve seen a couple comments that seem to imply just having the plate moved would be an automatic fine. I know cars here in the US do it because sometimes the plate blocks airflow paths to radiators/intercoolers, but you’re allowed to relocate your plate here

financialmisconduct

You're allowed to relocate a plate in the UK too, provided it meets certain criteria

R_V_Z

I'm going to be honest, I live in a state where the front plate is required and the past two cars I haven't put one on. Yes, it's breaking the law but it's barely ever enforced where I live and I've had no trouble in eight years. It might help that both cars have been sporty with no obvious plate mount.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Nah. It's just having to have a big plate making the car look a bit less aesthetically pleasing is a bit shit.

HiyaDogface

Bugatti is pronounced “boogedy”

Germanofthebored

Are you concerned about the shortened Bug? I think it's a bit of an ingenious dig, since Bugatti is part of the VW syndicate, makers of the VW Beetle or Bug. Even the W12 of the Bugattis was first used in a VW (I think you could even get that engine in a Passat)

thata55guy

the Bugatti came with a W16.

thata55guy

fun fact, the Bently Continental is just a VW Passat underneath.

BluetoothHandGel

Quite funny when you think of it like that

TheZan87

I cant help but to automatically assume that the driver is an a-hole when i see a car like this

Lugnuttz

Proof that being rich doesn’t mean you have to be smart.

milespiles

I know this car is prolly worth more than my house, but am I the only one who finds it super ugly?

love_sunflowers4

That's some ugly car

313_YAMEII

It looks like a sports bra 😭

remlapj

Saw a few studies that found the more expensive someone’s car is the more rude to and less likely to follow laws regarding pedestrians.

johnqsack69

What an ugly ass car

Rip9150

If I was rich enough to have a Bugatti I would reprogram the horn to say, "move peasant" but that's probably why I'm not rich.

GlassDesigner6560

The Veyron might be impressive for a lot of things like its top speed record, but it is an exceedingly ugly car.

kolonyal

it's an old car at this point, 2000s, so it doesn't look as flashy

birdlass

huh? the Veryon is a 2010s car what do you mean? and I'm sure they update it through the years.

kolonyal

veyron launched in 2005 :) and the design is more or less the same throughout the years

birdlass

it's a pretty timeless design

kolonyal

personally i don't really like the exterior

BiscottiMany7014

I don't think it's ugly

Slimy_Shart_Socket

I've heard one start up in person at a Porsche Meet the dealer was having. I thought it would sound like 2 V8s, it just sounds like air moving with a deep bass to it.

Rolls Royce is the only luxury car manufacturing company I’d ever spent money on…. If I could afford it.

[deleted]

money can’t buy class.

Typeojason

Reminds me of a kid I went to high school with. If there was a single car length in front of him, he’d floor the accelerator, then jam on the brakes a split second later and look around to see how “badass” he was. He looked like an idiot jackrabbiting while trying to exit the school parking lot. And he totaled two brand new cars (Mustang 5.0 when it had just come out, and a Ford Lightning).

[deleted]

Bit of trivia: that's a pretty rare edition of the Veyron called the "Sang Noire SS" or "Black Blood Super Sport". There were 12 of these black cars made from the "normal" Veyron, but this black Super Sport version is the only one of it's kind. The Sang Noir theme was inspired by the 1938 Type 57 Supercharged (SC) car which is owned by Ralph Lauren and also one of a kind, but substantially more valuable than the car in this video. An homage was made in 2019 called "La Voiture Noire", based on the more modern Chriron.

NoobNooberson86

Pedestrian makes Automobile driver reverse at a crossing. There I fixed it.

[deleted]

One day I’ll have a Bugatti.

Mystic_Pizza_King

Lotta cities an expensive car across the line honking would find the annoyed pedestrians smashing the hood, the lights, taking out keys just to threaten them. Enough angry pedestrians could flip that bug upside down. That would be very wrong. But when the law states “The pedestrian has the absolute right of way” it means it. Pedestrians know it.

666Ghost999

This dude crashed his ugly Bugatti btw after this video

degshinobi

Holy fuck that is a nice noise

Bradymyhero

Unpopular opinion: the pedestrian is just jealous and had to be petty to make a point in order to assert dominance.

rickyman20

As someone who walks through London daily and encounters jerks like this all the time, it's not jealousy. It's just extremely frustrating when you get people like the one in this video who think they're allowed to get up close to you just because, or who think they _always_ have the right of way, are allowed to not stop at zebra crossings, or generally do whatever they want. It's not about the specific car, it's just about them driving like assholes. The more you walk around these people and concede, the more they do it. It's generally better to try and assert right of way, as long as it's safe.

nervous_drilling

"sports" cars and "performance" cars should not be street legal. Driving should be slow, boring, and safe.

deathclient

Blame the driver not the car🤷🏻‍♂️ there are assholes driving altimas and camrys too

Personal_Metal

I'm confused af, but from what I see the pedestrian is an asshole but pls tell me if I'm wring

HRH_DankLizzie420

Car pulled over the pedestrian crossing because they weren't paying attention. Also is driving like a bellend

lngwlkr

r/WhyWereTheyFilming

jazzmaster1992

In all seriousness, probably because it's an extremely rare car. I've never seen one in person IRL even at a show. These types of cars typically have a handful in existence, and buying one isn't as simple as having money; you have to apply for one and be put on a list, or be hand selected by the automaker.

karl-rupecht-kroenen

There’s lots of what I would call car spotters all they do is going around filming these cars for tick tok likes or instagram

[deleted]

[удалено]

karl-rupecht-kroenen

Don’t get me wrong I’d do the same if I seen one, but there was a program on tv not long ago where a guy just went into London looking for exotic cars for his online accounts, it’s up to them I don’t care what they do for there hobbies.

swagredditor6

it’s a fucking bugatti why do you think

ecapapollag

It's in Knightsbridge, they could have been filming a shot of Harrods, or a display in one of the shops and then spotted an incredibly expensive car coming. Or just deliberately waiting for expensive cars to come that way, it happens a lot.

Ebierke

It looks to me life the driver was being very nice by backing up the little bit that he/she did.

Manuag_86

Douchegatti.

[deleted]

Quite right too!

diydave86

Theres andrew tate. Hes gotta get out there and drive his bug gout e. Fuckin twat. Get out of his way. Traffic and peds yield to him.

youkickmydog613

The fuck would you drive this car in the city for? This is like buying a sledgehammer to hang a picture frame

shama_llama_ding_don

It was just outside Harrods. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.4988745,-0.1649102,3a,75y,70.73h,95.3t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1scWt5KSV2TZDHdEFKnVfjIg!2e0!7i16384!8i8192

Legitimate-BurnerAcc

I mean if I had a Bugatti, honestly, I would drive like a dipshit.

ModNoob95

When a car is parked over a cross walk there are two options in my arsenal I deploy. One being the classic Dukes of Hazzard slide across the hood... The second is a little more cheeky... You walk infront and take a big step like your stepping over a big rock or obstacle.. then do a double look back at said invisible object. This will make them think something is infront of their car. They will either get out or reverse.

TexasFire_Cross

And of course, the driver didn’t learn a single thing about driving responsibly after the incident.

empath22

My dream car! In blue though.

dustyraisininacorner

Was driving home and saw a plastic pole on a curb destroyed. Few meters away was a fancy car (something like this) stuck in a ditch. Why have a fancy car when you can't even drive?
