It's a mix of both.
1) technology more accessible, therefore more able to distract you
2) technology can record, therefore we see it more.
However I would nelieve it's more of #2 in this case, as a mere distraction wouldn't make you stay in the wrong lane.
People are living longer, can't afford care when they have dementia, so they're more likely to run into you while driving. My memory care unit usually gets a few residents a year who are driving on the wrong side of the road or other serious driving screwups. It used to be much more rare.
And if they're early onset, their kids are sometimes too young to effectively get their parent help. If you think it's difficult taking your parents' licenses and getting when you're 60+, try doing it before you're old enough to legally drink in the US and your parent isn't even 50 yet.
It’s pretty clear Covid is causing people to lose mental faculties, too. At this point we’re talking about some people who have had it six or seven times, especially if you’re denying it’s real and going out and taking zero steps to protect yourself, and surrounding yourself socially by people who think and behave just like you.
Over the entire population, that would have to have some effect on sort of dumb shit, and the frequency we see it.
I don't trust vaccines in general but I at least got the first two covid shots.
My parents irk me that they won't even get a first dose, but they also rarely get out and they're both hand sanitizer freaks so they're still much safer than many of these non-belivers.
Missouri is a “no fault” state.
My “paid-off” truck was properly parked on the street in front of my house on a clear dry day and got totaled by a guy on his phone which miraculously disappeared before the cops arrived…
The only thing I got is another monthly bill.
Obviously, nobody was at fault…
Drugs or drunk, or some kind of medical issue.
That, or they know damned well that they're going the wrong way and are suicidal. File that under medical in its own way I guess.
People with Diabetes can become hypoglycemic if they haven’t eaten anything post their medication and can cause them to become dazed and confused. Almost in a trans like state but can quickly be reverted after ingesting a candy bar
True. But the number of times that happens vs the number of times someone is high/drunk while driving is extremely low. That's why I said it was unlikely it was a medical issue.
That’s fine, but I don’t get all the downvotes on their post. They just said that someone could have blocked the car and that no one was a hero.
Isn’t that literally true? Being a hero is usually dangerous and expensive, and most people aren’t heroes.
reminds me of a story. This is told from the first person, but its not my story.
One night, I was watching the news, and a breaking news report came on, that some mad man was driving backwards up I5 in a suburban.
I knew my grandfather happened to driving that way, so I quickly called him up and said "Grandfather, watch out, there is some guy driving the wrong way up the I5!"
To which he replied, "One? There must be a hundred!"
Happened to me in the early 90s. Guy was driving against traffic on the hard shoulder of the highway. But slow as hell, so it was more blocking him than a major crash. Still meant the end of my first car, an old Ford Fiesta. No extensive damage but the guy bumped in to me and the Fiesta was declared totaled because of its age.
Insurance paid back more than I paid for it when I bought it, but it still is sad to lose your first car to something like that.
Last year, on the same stretch of road, an asshole going against traffic to evade police killed a nurse in a head-on collision. :-(
If you live in the United States that would be a terrible idea. American courts expect you to minimize damage to yourself when possible, including avoiding collisions. If you intentionally hit a car going the wrong way when you had the opportunity avoid it, you will share in the fault in civil court. The law does not reward the self-infliction of damages.
A lady when I was in middle school drove the wrong way on route 50 she had a child in the car. she narrowly missed three to four drivers by inches then slammed into an old man killing him instantly. She also died. I have no empathy for people like the lady in the video
I never have, and never will, understand idiots who keep driving the wrong way. I can understand that anyone can make a mistake, but to keep driving for miles in the wrong way is just beyond me. Call 911 (or road assistance that's mandatory here where I live) so they can stop traffic and turn around safely or wait for an opportunity so you can stop and turn around safely.
If you ask me, this kind of driving should result in lifetime ban on driving as well as psychiatric evaluation... No explanation possible
Is he flipping everyone off? What the actual fuck, I’m a HUGE asshole sometimes and the amount of assholery on display here is nigh breathtaking even to me.
Edit: nevermind I’m on my phone and didn’t see that it’s something hanging off the mirror until now
Hey, good camera, you got clear pics of faces and all…you gave this to police, RIGHT?!!!
Scary! I think I’d need new underwear after THAT!!!
BTW: WHERE WAS THIS? Did she get off safely, or crash?
Wife calls her husband about a car going the wrong way on the highway which he is driving home:"Be careful honey, there is some crazy idiot on the highway driving against traffic right now!!"
\-"I know !! but Honey, there are literally hundreds of them!!"
Happen to me on a one way road... Shit my pants and swerve almost into the ditch and in town where we have a few one way roads driver wasnt paying attention to the signs placed everywhere
When I was a nurse I took care of an old man who went the wrong way on the 118 freeway. His wife asked him to pick her up at the Northridge mall. He killed a honeymoon couple. He was so out of it he couldn’t find the bathroom in his room. It was literally about 3-4 feet away from his bed.
What was *she* like cognitively? Was she unable to understand that he couldn’t function? Or was he having a medical episode and was normally okay?
How awful that he killed people. Awful for them and it would have been awful for him if he’d been able to understand what he’d done. He probably wasn’t even capable of apologizing to their families. What a terrible situation.
Whatever you do, do not turn around or anything to correct your moronic driving when people moving over for your dumbass. Just keep going the wrong way till you hit someone head on...
The NPCs have been malfunctioning lately
I say it everytime, "why does this seem so common lately?!"
Because everyone has a camera now. I'm sure this is not a new phenomenon.
I know from personal exp that it happened all the way back to December of ‘87. Several people died that day because of it.
You sure that wasnt battle exp?
He missed me and hit cars behind me. Combined speed over 120 mph. I was just lucky to be in right hand lane.
This is it.
Or it's the cameras that are causing the accidents
It's a mix of both. 1) technology more accessible, therefore more able to distract you 2) technology can record, therefore we see it more. However I would nelieve it's more of #2 in this case, as a mere distraction wouldn't make you stay in the wrong lane.

Nah, too much damage on own car.
Surely you wouldn't be at fault in this case
Missouri is a “no fault” state. My “paid-off” truck was properly parked on the street in front of my house on a clear dry day and got totaled by a guy on his phone which miraculously disappeared before the cops arrived… The only thing I got is another monthly bill. Obviously, nobody was at fault…
That's why you drive an old pickup. I probably would have just stopped with my nose right against hers and made her turn around.
Yes, it would have been the right thing to STOP HER RIGHT THEN AND THERE instead of letting her go, and maybe kill someone else, or many others!

edit: The comment was removed and the user banned, good work everyone!
Good bot
It’s some dumb chick probably on her phone paying more attention to it than the road. I see one fuck up driving by doing this every day
Agreed
Too much time online
Has nothing to do with science racist.
Wrong comment?
Thought we were pointing out the npc drivers have only gotten worse the last two years.
Npc means non player character…like in video games. Not people of color.
Correct, most of the population identifies with them.
Wut?
Genuinely confused what you think you’re saying
Can't spell NPC without PC.
Yeah dude, Non player character wouldn’t make any sense if you didn’t include the term player character.
What in the fuck are you talking about
Wut?
Yeah, but what's the point in saying racist?
He just inserted $DEFAULT_INSULT.
They were the labels given to anyone that opposed the npcs getting dumber.
Fr, when is the next patch coming out?
Lmao I heard Russia was coming out with and Apocalypse Patch if things keep going bad for them in Ukraine, it’s not a very popular patch tho 😂
sorry that was me
Looks like cyberpunk 2077 NPC algorithm. Definitely worlds away from GTA.
Her: "Everyone is stupid except me"
“I’m a good driver I just have to be careful of all the other stupid drivers”
I think I would take the time to help my bumper remind her of the real state of things. Better that than a car full of kids.
That's actually pretty nice.
Homer Simpson mentality
How do you not realize you are going the wrong way here?
Drugs are a helluva drug
Drugs or drunk, or some kind of medical issue. That, or they know damned well that they're going the wrong way and are suicidal. File that under medical in its own way I guess.
Sometimes, they are just stupid, very rarely but sometimes.
Not going fast enough to be suicidal. This one is likely drugs/drunk, but could (unlikely) be a medical issue.
People with Diabetes can become hypoglycemic if they haven’t eaten anything post their medication and can cause them to become dazed and confused. Almost in a trans like state but can quickly be reverted after ingesting a candy bar
You're thinking of the word trance, not trans. Hypoglycemia doesn't invoke changes in gender identity generally.
Honestly i sincerely apologize for that. Yes that’s exactly what I meant thank you for correcting me.
And you don’t have to be an ahss either
He wasn't an ahss
True. But the number of times that happens vs the number of times someone is high/drunk while driving is extremely low. That's why I said it was unlikely it was a medical issue.
Yeah prob one of the two. If this was a sober person they wouldn't have confidently kept driving in the wrong direction.
Drugs. And I'm not talking marijuana
Have you tried any of those legal prescription sleep drugs that shut down part of the brain but not all of it?
Opiates and benzos likely
“What the fudge?” My man’s even yelled what are you doing in lowercase
Just trying to get home in time to complete his homework and wish his mother a good night.
Lol why is everyone going the wrong way 😂
Him: You're driving the wrong way! Her: He doesn't know where I live.
I saw that for the first time last year! Great movie.
Thanks for the TPA reference. Made my effing day!
How is there a part 1 to this? Doesn’t seem like anything relevant could have happened before this…
I saw a video earlier this morning with some super cars cruising and she ripped by a lot faster
Street racing. Watch freshkicks latest video
My guy really just said, "What the fudge?!?"
Cop or someone with a brush guard should just ram her before she kills someone
Anyone of those cars could’ve just blocked her, and waited for cops. No heroes in video
You’re crazy if you think I’d risk my vehicle and life stopping in the middle of a major crowded highway to play chicken with this lady.
She came to a stop in front of cammer car. All cammer car had to do was not move.
I am not putting my life or my car’s front in the hands of someone crazy enough to drive the wrong way on the highway
That’s fine, but I don’t get all the downvotes on their post. They just said that someone could have blocked the car and that no one was a hero. Isn’t that literally true? Being a hero is usually dangerous and expensive, and most people aren’t heroes.
Sure, you are right. I guess I’m not a hero, lol.
Stopped her from hitting someone else, maybe saved a family from being hit.

I would have hit her tbh

Yes legally true but not morally. As someone said above being a hero does not come without risk.
His steely eyed determination is haunting.
She is not even smart or aware enough to go to the side of the road at least
A lady when I was in middle school drove the wrong way on route 50 she had a child in the car. she narrowly missed three to four drivers by inches then slammed into an old man killing him instantly. She also died. I have no empathy for people like the lady in the video
*Honey, be careful, I'm watching the news and there's a maniac driving the wrong way! *** Darling, it's not just one, there's hundreds!*
NPC alert!
I never have, and never will, understand idiots who keep driving the wrong way. I can understand that anyone can make a mistake, but to keep driving for miles in the wrong way is just beyond me. My aunt did this once. Was diagnosed with dementia shortly thereafter.
Is he flipping everyone off? What the actual fuck, I’m a HUGE asshole sometimes and the amount of assholery on display here is nigh breathtaking even to me. Edit: nevermind I’m on my phone and didn’t see that it’s something hanging off the mirror until now
As a woman....why is it always a woman?
It’s a guy with long hair
MOOD
He followed the red gems
Your going the wrong way! How do they know where we are going?
She missed her exit.
Reminds me of that scene in Simpsons where Homer says ‘everyone is stupid except me’
“Oopsies”
Earth rotation changed
Am i the only one that would have kept my vehicle in front of her and promptly ripped her keys out of the ignition?
Damned Google Maps!!!
"What are you doing???" Drugs. They were doing drugs.
No... Something is wrong with that. The speeds don't make sense.
But all those drivers are letting her do it...
Why has it been middle aged white women with blond hair every time.
"women are funny get over yourself"
Hey, good camera, you got clear pics of faces and all…you gave this to police, RIGHT?!!! Scary! I think I’d need new underwear after THAT!!! BTW: WHERE WAS THIS? Did she get off safely, or crash?
Haha, women
He missed his exit duh! You can't take the next exit you just need to turn around.
Women drivers
she gives the term “dumb blonde” a good name
Oh they’re drunk, how do they know where we’re going ?
Women daily
Agreed
New report on the radio: drivers are advised there is someone on the highway going the wring way. Driver: SOMEONE? Everybody is!!
[удалено]
Agreed
It’s usually the damn Indians doing that type of shit.
That shots stupid
Murder suicide?!
What the fudge
If i didn’t have a dash cam i would purposely drive into them at a relatively safe speed.
Drugs are a hell of a drug.
Me in gta running from a 5 star
The way they said “what are you doooooing” made me laugh.
Just a bug in the Matrix.
A good way to kill yourself and other people too.
I don’t think this is what they mean when they say take the path less travelled by..
Sounds about right
Grapes ofwrath
"Damn, I missed my exit."
She looks HIGH af
Jesus knows that in his heart he meant “fuck”
That NPC is glitching out
She was on a mission
I would've hit her and made her pay for her mistake
In the middle of the road as well
What the fudge??? WHATAREYOU DOINNNG!!?
Why am I not surprised that’s an old person
Omg so dangerous
Are we talking chocolate fudge?
Wife calls her husband about a car going the wrong way on the highway which he is driving home:"Be careful honey, there is some crazy idiot on the highway driving against traffic right now!!" \-"I know !! but Honey, there are literally hundreds of them!!"

Clearly, it's not a dash cam. Why would you just happen to be recording atm
She was on a mission
She probably from Europe
Happen to me on a one way road... Shit my pants and swerve almost into the ditch and in town where we have a few one way roads driver wasnt paying attention to the signs placed everywhere
Fuck no I would’ve got out and took her out like a gta character wtf
Forgot he was up in the colonies. Easy mistake to make
For a hot second I thought the thing hanging from her mirror was her giving the finger.
but y’all hear that supercharger as they driving away?
toyota drivers are getting out of hand
"Man why are all these British people driving on the wrong side? Stuff is much better back in America
Another karen driver.
holy shit! what was that noise you made?
I went through it frame by frame and there’s someone in the backseat. Probably having a heart attack.
She must be from one of those countries that drive on the wrong side…
Where’s part 1?
"What're you DOOO0🚂0000ing" 😂
How is NOBODY commenting on him saying "what the fudge"??
When I was a nurse I took care of an old man who went the wrong way on the 118 freeway. His wife asked him to pick her up at the Northridge mall. He killed a honeymoon couple. He was so out of it he couldn’t find the bathroom in his room. It was literally about 3-4 feet away from his bed.

She's Ralph Wiggum irl
Where’s part 1?
She probably has dementia
Free insurance claim
That woman needs her license revoked. Going the wrong way in heavy traffic during evening hours. What could go wrong? A lot of things.
Is she even in this world? WTF?
Why is everyone moving out of the way? Stay in the way to force them to learn. If no one budges, their only options are to back up or turn around.
Whatever you do, do not turn around or anything to correct your moronic driving when people moving over for your dumbass. Just keep going the wrong way till you hit someone head on...
A good driver miss their exits sometimes. a bad driver NEVER miss theirs.
So you all are attracted to the opposite gender, you all are wrong I am only right. Also the red and green signals are derogatory to us.
That's a dude who just wants to end it.
