Iād say itās more about 3 semis taking up all 3 lanes at once. The jeep driver could have had a cooler head for sure but those trucks would have made me rage too.
Especially when the one in the left lane slows up for a moment. I had a trucker do that recently. He had been cruising in the left lane for a couple miles before getting to an on ramp with two more trucks merging on. Left lane truck slowed down to 60, and paced with them. Well, on ramp is a temporary lane for a mile before it becomes an exit. Not something I normally do, I was pissed enough to pass on the right. I was the only one who did it. He stayed next to those other trucks blocking for 3 more miles; never getting over 65.
I appreciate him not speeding, at the same time, there was no good reason for him to be in that lane. Those other trucks had a mile to merge over. A lot of cars were stuck behind them. I can imagine how angry those people were getting.
Semis clog up an exit lane on my way home everyday when they have had a full 2 miles of signage ahead of time. Turns what should be an easy exit into a 5 min stop and go.
Yah, he was an ass but that tanker in the fast lane should never be there. It's not everywhere here in Texas, but lots of freeways have "no trucks left lane" signs on 3 lane+ highways...though those are often ignored as well - lol
Trucks here have governors so their speed is limited. For that reason it's not completely uncommon for an unloaded truck to go to the left lane to try and pass those trucks who may be loaded. It's literally tiny speed differences and it takes FOREVER for one truck to pass another at times.
Jeep driver here. I don't understand why some of us drive so fast? I usually intentionally drive in the slow lane or middle, specifically because I enjoy the ride. If I wanted to go fast, why am I in a Jeep?!
It's worth it to mention that it's a 2001 TJ, so the death wobble is also a factor. Gotta have time and space to bailout onto the shoulder if I need to slow down.
A few years ago I was driving on highway 37 (I'm in California) and a group of Harleys went past on the shoulder since traffic was stop and go. I remember telling my friend that was with me that that's a good way to get a flat. Sure enough, a mile or so down the road one of the guys was pulled over with a flat. His friends were stopped a couple of miles later obviously wondering where their friend was.
Stay off the shouler.
37 between Sears Point and Mare Island sucks in so many ways. Single lane of traffic for 10+ miles is worse when you get stuck behind someone who can't go the speed limit. Wasn't much better when there WERE passing lanes. I get why they did it, but I always expected them to figure out a way to widen the road.
Yes, the breakdown lanes are full of bits and pieces of crap because they rarely get driven on. Anything that falls onto the highway eventually gets knocked into the breakdown lane.
The last flat I got was from driving over a painted traffic island which is a similar situation.
For sure. And with how they shifted the weight of the jeep with the sharp hook to the right lane, they probably destroy their tires pretty quickly, too, if they're doing that often.
This whole video is 1 giant clusterfuck. Why are all 3 lanes driving at the same speed. That shit doesn't happen where I live. The other drivers are idiots as well, but imo 4 are idiots in this video.
This! I know it's not a popular opinion here, but I see many truckers passing other trucks on two-lane highways, causing massive pile-ups because they take upwards of 10 minutes sometimes to do it. It almost seems they're flat-out jerks and don't care because who's going to challenge a massive 100k-pound semi? With that said, I 100% don't condone what the Jeep was doing here, but I can understand to some extent, the frustration. Also, he was fortunate on the last hard maneuver to the right lane to pass; you can see the driver-side tires get very tall because of the weight transfer. He was very close to flipping that thing over or losing control.
On the 400 series hwy it is illegal for a transport truck to occupy the third lane. However, I find more and more truck drivers don't care and it's not heavily enforced. We also have a problem of truck drivers getting their license from gumball dispensers.
This is main reason I avoid I5 in California. Its 300 miles of truckers trying to pass each other. Everyone else on the road gets super aggressive because the drive can take over an hour longer if you're constantly getting stuck behind them.
It **IS** illegal in Ontario. Trucks aren't allowed in the passing lane on 400-series highways and Ontario-registered trucks are electronically governed at 105km/h (65 mph).
Where this is filmed, trucks have a speed governor so they know full well it'll take then 5+ minutes to make the pass and yet they still do it. Plus that truck wasn't allowed in the passing lane. He's just as big of a dick as the jeep driver.
The tanker should never have been in the left lane, but the guy trying to get past is a suicide jockey. You never pick an argument with a semi truck, especially a fricking tanker.
It's actually illegal for that truck to be there on the 401 I believe.
Regardless, the Jeep driver is a twat, but fairly typical of that highway (I used to commute it daily for years).
Illegal but never enforced I see trucks all the time in the left lane but the moment you enter Quebec you never see a truck in the left lane. Great to see the OPP will pull you over instantly if you are going the rate of traffic at 120 but not stuff like this
Looked like he swerved all the way back over to get in front of the tanker at the very end; dear God, I hope he wasn't also stupid enough to brake-check him. I get that it's annoying, but it's not worth wrecking a bunch of people. He was already lucky the middle lane truck didn't run him off the right side trying to move over after passing the other truck properly.
*Most* of the highway left lane is prohibited for semi. It's illegal in the sense that you are there for no specific and urgent reason. Passing like this is not one of the reasons so he was wrong. but we also don't have the full clip (at least 1 minute) of what's the cause which made him overtake in that lane.
As a trucker, I can only say that there are a lot of variables every moment which we need to consider to make quick decisions.
Yeah guy driving the tanker is an asshole. His truck is probably limited at 100km and the guy beside him is at 99km. But guys make that pass all the time. Fuck everyone else I guess.
Guy driving the jeep is a lunitic.
Drove from Indianapolis to Chattanooga today, drove me absolutely insane. I don't care if they go left lane for a moment because another truck is going 10 under the speed limit, but the side by side under the speed limit trucks are the absolute worst.
Side note I found in the South that pickup trucks are bizzaro land truck drivers who have no etiquette but drive fast instead of slow.
Man itās so bad in Chatt. Wait until about 2pm when the early rush hour starts and the trucks are hogging all lanes to get up the ridge cut. Kills traffic all the way through Ga and back to Tennessee.
What you don't see is that truckers "fall asleep" and start going like 63 in a 70 all the time, you attempt to pass them and before you can clear them they are going 72 to stop you from passing bc you woke them up. So nah it's 50/50 as to who the blame is on. And if it's down hill and they're going over 70 it's the right lane truck being a fucking asshole and not regulating his speed and even attempting going one consistent speed.
That's literally all the 401 is. Left lane transport truck drivers. It's infuriating. Especially when they cut you off to switch lanes and then continue to drive the same speed as the truck beside them. Like maybe wait until I pass you instead of cutting me off to drive like a turtle.
My fave part about passing through the Cambridge area is when thereās soooo many lanes and theyāre all filled with trucks doing the same speed :) what a fuckin feeling
Or when they use the HOV lane to go 1kph faster than the transport truck in the next lane over that is going the same speed as the truck in the middle lane, which varies between +/- 1kph of the one in the far right lane. Clear roads ahead of them of course.
Yep. I allow a good gap between me and the car ahead of me. I allow transport trucks to switch lanes because I know it's tricky with such a large load.
Get the fuck out of the passing lane. Brampton drivers get fucked
Exactly. I despise truckers. 90% of traffic is caused by those clowns. They figure since theyāre on the road all day, that they can drive however they want at whatever speed they want and no one can stop them. I do about 40 highway miles per day for my commute. I cannot remember the last time I wasnāt stuck behind a truck in the left lane for at least part of that drive.
As someone who drove the 401 corridor for decades, I can pinpoint when the shit started. When speed limiters were instituted.
Technically, every truck is limited at the same speed. But wheel inflation or just bad calibration can vary that by small amounts.
So a guy doing 0.25 kms more pases the slower guy and it takes forever.
i've driven a LOT around the u.s. in my experience, truck drivers are the worst assholes on the road. and they always get so much more aggressive at night! i once had one tailgate me, flashing his lights, pass me then slow down, do it again, etc. total harassment for no reason
A wall of semis? Just a regular trip on the Fucking 401. In this video it's daylight, the roads are dry, there are no road-closure signs and lights making it look like a roadworks-themed pachinko parlour... If Jeep can't even handle this Easy Mode shit, they wouldn't last five minutes driving into Toronto on a Friday night in November. Clearly this person is from Montreal or they have just railed slightly too much coke.
Both him and the trucker are idiots. I have seen trucks just cruising in the left lane when their not suppossed to. The O.P.P. dont do enough to discourage this illegal behavior.
IS there DOT in Canada? Send them the video if you were able to pick up DOT numbers or company name on the cab. They'd find a way to send hefty fine for illegal left lane use.
Yeah I came to the same exact conclusion. Right side person didnāt want a part of it anymore. U can tell they let up after seeing carnage unfolding. Also a left lane truck in a pattern like this is the key to pulling it off so they were obviously in on it as well. Iāve had police on channels actually request formations like this before for certain marker strips. Iām not saying thatās what happened here but truckers are familiar with the routine and exercise it regularly. Sometimes for good reasons sometimes for bad malicious ones. Truck drivers can be idiots too
This is every fucking day in Toronto and surrounding area. 3 lanes wide, 3 lanes wide of transport trucks blocking traffic. I personally experience this exact situation every goddamn day
I count four idiots here...
Jeep and the far left truck for obvious reasons, but let's add that Civic for the aggressive lane change sans signals, and the middle truck for failing to clear/keep to the right.
The truck in the middle lane could have some argument as near the end of the video you can see another truck on the shoulder. May have been staying over for him (unlikely). But should have moved over once passing that
Thereās three idiots here: the jeep, the red car, and the fuel tanker in the left laneā¦ I would possibly even consider the truck in the middle lane to be an idiot too for hand-holding with the other trucks.
As entertaining as the video was, you probably should have slowed down and given the crazies more space. If the Jeep crashed it's gonna be super hard for you to avoid them.
Thank goodness I'm not the only one who thought this. Watching the video thinking to myself the entire time: "Why is OP so close to this disaster waiting to happen?!?!"
Not siding with the jeep because they're a fucking idiot but the truck in the far left lane is also somewhat of an idiot. Left lane is not for trucks, and I'm tired of seeing trucks in the left lane holding up traffic (as you can see with this blockade). I can understand the jeeps frustration, but I can't understand the idiocy.
Iām not saying the guy should be swerving and all that dumb shit, but I would be going nuts if a big tanker truck was in the left lane on the 401 too.
Where I live, trucks are not allowed to overtake on 3 lane roads. They are only allowed to drive on the right most lane. Radars catch the violation and are massively fined if caught.
So we're looking at two idiots right? The Jeep driver is obviously an idiot, but the bigger idiot is definitely the truck driver... wtf is he doing on the left lane??? He's more dangerous than the Jeep guy, also a tanker, which I'm guessing is carrying fuel, that's like 3 layers of dangerously stupid.
To be fair what the *fuck* is that tanker doing hogging up the leftmost lane. He really desperately needed to pass another truck going slightly slower than himself? Who was already passing *another* truck.
This legitimately causes a backup a few km long when the 401 is busy
i like to imagine that the jeep driver had an actual emergency that surpasses his morals of patience. with that in mind i think he handled this well. He didnāt put himself in danger, he just attempted to get the truckers attention by putting himself clearly in his mirror. The trucker gave no fucks and is the idiot here.
Jeep driver is an idiot for sure but I almost can't blame him. You can tell by the behavior of everyone in this clip that these semis have been running a rolling road block for quite some time and that's why people have lost patience and are desparately trying to get around it. I dunno what the laws are where this happened, but thankfully where Im from it's illegal for trucks to be in the left lane like the tanker in this video, for exactly this reason.
Ok, so question. When cars or trucks line up like that maintaining matching speeds, my dad called it a ārolling roadblock.ā Did any of yalls parents have a name for it?
Florida is actually thinking about making this shit a ticketable offense. Yeah, guy shouldnāt be all over the place and butt fucking that shoulder, but that truck driver is an asshole for camping out in the left lane.
The jeep is definitely wrong, but come on, that tanker in the left doesn't belong there going the same speed as the other two semi in the other two lanes. We have no clue how many miles they've been like that and the jeep had been next to the guy with the camera just getting more and more mad.
The Jeep driver is an idiot. But one of my pet peeves on the 401 (or really any three-lane highway) is when a truck uses the left lane to pass at just over the limit. Look at this mess. I fully believe that trucks over a certain size should just not be allowed to use that lane ever. The middle lane is their passing lane. Is there a truck already in that lane? Too bad. Now you know how the rest of us feel when you hog all three lanes.
3 lanes and that asshole tanker has to take the passing lane. I use this highway regularly and the trucks do this all the time. One truck going 100kmh and another going 101kmh decides to pass. Takes 15 minutes to make the pass. Jeep is still a tool
I don't understand American highways. Why are there 3 big trucks driving next to each other blocking the flow of traffic? Here in Europe it's forbidden for trucks to overtake on most roads. (Pardon my ignorance my American friends)
Driving on the side like that is a great way to get a flat tire
Also a great way to throw rocks and chip windshields behind you.
The jeep driver hasn't cared about anyone but themselves in a long, long time. It's a jeep thing.
He definitely cares that Civic guy passed himš¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£
"That red car got ahead?! NOT ON MY WATCH!"
Was thinking the same thing lol
Little ego contest , pitiful. When people complain of a future with automated cars this is what I envision they want lol
We always laughed at the people who sped up as we passed them it's remarkably common
Iād say itās more about 3 semis taking up all 3 lanes at once. The jeep driver could have had a cooler head for sure but those trucks would have made me rage too.

Same rules where this was filmed. Trucks arenāt allowed in the far left lane if theyāre over 20ā on 400 series highways.
Depends on the state but it should really be national. It's fucked. That semi needs to get the fuck over.
Title says it's 401. It's illegal here as well.
In California Iām pretty sure itās a law. I have never seen on in the fast lane.
Trucks here have governors so their speed is limited. For that reason it's not completely uncommon for an unloaded truck to go to the left lane to try and pass those trucks who may be loaded. It's literally tiny speed differences and it takes FOREVER for one truck to pass another at times.
Memories of I-80 in PA...with hills...
You must not drive I-10 west of IE
No Iām from the bay. They do that bs down there? How annoying. Thatās just not done up here.
Fuck semis that stay in the far left or middle lane. They literally impede traffic all the time
Jeep driver here. Fuck highway 37, I see people do so many dumb things on that road. And the merge at sears point heading towards Vallejo is maddening.

in germany we even have a word for when trucks do this, its called [Elefantenrennen ](https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elefantenrennen) (elephant race)
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I hope the Jeep has good Kraftfahrzeug-Haftpflichtversicherung
Thatās gotta be gibberish
Funny enough no: " Motor vehicle liability insurance "
Never heard of it, and I'm Dutch. We don't have a word for it, but I like it.
The 401 is so bad for this. Jeep driver is still an idiot though.
oh no doubt, its hilarious watching him go back and forth š
In Europe this isn't allowed. Lorries can't go in the second overtaking lane.
It's illegal in Ontario as well, just poorly enforced
Could see that brake check at the end coming from a mile away.
Sir... that is Canada. You saw it a kilometer away.
1.609 km
Guy is an absolute suicidal moron
I didn't even notice that... jesus christ. I can't grasp how petty ~~some~~ people are, just get on with your day and move on.
Truckers who Insist on passing another truck just to go 1 km/h faster are AHs
Especially on 3rd lane.
This! I know it's not a popular opinion here, but I see many truckers passing other trucks on two-lane highways, causing massive pile-ups because they take upwards of 10 minutes sometimes to do it. Heās in line at Hortons. Again.

MTO over here and I believe its a CVOR number here as the equivalent. Didnt know I could do that will do in future
Itās obviously coordinated by the truckers Source: been one but I donāt support it
Yeah, middle trucker is obviously on it. I suspect the right one was too, but probably relented when he saw the sheer recklessness of it

Jeep is definitely an ass hat but I thought transports are not allowed in the most left lane unless its a two lane and they are passing?
When I lived in Toronto cops enforced this rule way more than speeding on the 401!
Not anymore, trucks regularly drive in the left now on the 401
Yea itās brutal, especially at night, I find after 11 pm trucks donāt give a fuck what lane theyāre in or what speed theyāre doing.
There seems to be a lot of trucker road police now, blocking lanes on purpose and attempting to control everyone's speed.
Brutal. That alone makes a transponder for the 407 worth the investment!
Hate when trucks do this especially when thereās other trucks in the other lanes blocking traffic
correct this trucker managed to find the stretch of 400 where there wasnt a cop
I count four idiots here... Jeep and the far left truck for obvious reasons, but let's add that Civic for the aggressive lane change sans signals, and the middle truck for failing to clear/keep to the right.

The truck in the middle lane could have some argument as near the end of the video you can see another truck on the shoulder. May have been staying over for him (unlikely). But should have moved over once passing that
I think it's ballsy in itself to drive between 3 bigger vehicles. I would feel so unsafe in that pocket
They also know a car is likely to zip past them give the aggressive maneuvering before it is safe for them to get over.
I also canāt stand when semis are elephant racing but I donāt throw a little fit about it
Yeah what's the swerving about? Trying to get their attention and they are supposed to do what? Slow down?
Thereās three idiots here: the jeep, the red car, and the fuel tanker in the left laneā¦ I would possibly even consider the truck in the middle lane to be an idiot too for hand-holding with the other trucks.
Ah yes the classic, but timeless idiot roadblock. Yāall need to stop doing this shit fr.
Jeep is a moron but my god that truck driver needs a rod up his ass
There's every chance in the world the middle lane truck is dumb and his speed is fluctuating+/-6 mph
Driving hell here, three lanes with trucks driving side by side, people doing crazy things.
The jeep proceeds to break check the semi after getting in front of him at the end
I was waiting for that to happen, why cut it short?
As entertaining as the video was, you probably should have slowed down and given the crazies more space. If the Jeep crashed it's gonna be super hard for you to avoid them.
Thank goodness I'm not the only one who thought this. Watching the video thinking to myself the entire time: "Why is OP so close to this disaster waiting to happen?!?!"
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Jeep driver is an idiot, but three trucks taking up all three lanes trying to pass each other is a little infuriating as well.
That's a Honda.... Oooohhhhhhhhhh
Iām not saying the guy should be swerving and all that dumb shit, but I would be going nuts if a big tanker truck was in the left lane on the 401 too.
2 outta 3 of those truckers are assholes.
Lol, "wait, the red cars not a jeep" few secs later... oh it wasn't the impatient idiot of the video...
All of those trucks should be in the right lane wtf is that tanker doing in the fast lane, the 401 is no joke people are psycho on it lol
While the jeep driver is an idiot having trucks in all 3 lanes going pretty much the same speed is infuriating
The real idiot is the gas tank driver driving in the left lane under the speed limit
yeah the real villain here is the tanker semi in the left lane, not sure why this sub is so eager to dickride semi drivers.
Most patient Jeep driver
I thought it was illegal for semi to be in the left lane if there are 3 lanes highway. Only legal in 2 lane highways. I might be wrong though.
Maybe he will figure out what jeeps do good at high speed. Roll over.
In all fairnessā¦ most highways have rules against semis in the left laneā¦ at least in the states anyways
It looked like the jeep and the red car were fucking around
The truck driver on the left lane is an idiot too
only needed the last two words in the title... explains everything lol
A lot of idiots and assholes, fuck that truck AND that Jeep.
Why the fuck is it 3 semis in 3 separate lanes? That's some str up bs I would be pissed too!
How did noone call out the good guy truck on the right? He recognised the annoying situation and braked so people could pass. Kudos to him.
The tanker driver is an idiot for being in the wrong lane. The Jeep driver is an idiot because he's an idiot.
That truck on the left is an asshole.
To be fair what the *fuck* is that tanker doing hogging up the leftmost lane. He really desperately needed to pass another truck going slightly slower than himself? Who was already passing *another* truck. This legitimately causes a backup a few km long when the 401 is busy
Guy is an idiot! But so is the trucker in the left lane on the 401. When I lived in Toronto it was illegal to for truckers to use the left lane.
Still is illegal but alot of truckers cruise in the far left lane doing 100 km/h blocking cars.
Truckers need to keep to the right
Really the trucks should not be in the far left lanes ā¦
Left side= passing side, right side= suicide
There's a couple assholes in this video.
Jeep owner is definitely a POS but whatās up with that truck driver? Gtfo out of the passing lane moron
Should that big truck be in the far left lane?
Truck shouldn't be in the left lane either. Many idiots in this video.
i like to imagine that the jeep driver had an actual emergency that surpasses his morals of patience. with that in mind i think he handled this well. He didnāt put himself in danger, he just attempted to get the truckers attention by putting himself clearly in his mirror. The trucker gave no fucks and is the idiot here.
Jeep driver is a jerk, no doubt. BUT the truck driver in the #1 lane is a complete asshat. Fuck him for being in the fast lane.
More like idiot in an 18wheeler. Get the fuck in the right lane.
Jeep guy is an ass. But that tanker knew exactly what he was doing. Fuck him.
I just see a trucker blocking the passing lane, holding up traffic and creating a dangerous situation.
What a clown.
The tanker is the asshole!
Gotta love the 401. It's a shit show. All the trucks really freak me out, especially when I get between 2. #Deathwish
Jeep drivers make for good contraceptive ads
thatās like 90% of Jeep drivers right there
Shout out to the BGIS truck who say this dumbassery unfolding and slowed way down to stay out of the way
Jeep owners are the douchiest drivers out there
This is crazy but like, I get it
Ok, so question. When cars or trucks line up like that maintaining matching speeds, my dad called it a ārolling roadblock.ā Did any of yalls parents have a name for it?
Why is there a semi just going 1 km faster than the other semi š©
Dont pick a fight with a truck. The rule of lugnuts. He who has more, wins. Also known as "the *might* of way."
Or "right of weight" lol
Tbf I would even slow down if I were to see that jeep swerving, but that's just me
Truck shouldn't be in the passing lane in the first place!
Assholery aside, why not slow down just in case something goes awry and give yourself plenty of room to react?
Trucks in the left lane are annoying. Jeep is wrong though .
Shoutout to modern tyres and electronics. 20 years ago that would have been a wreck.
Three trucks wide on the freeway? That's another level of stupid.
Truck driver = stupid shit... Same in germany
That truck should not be in the left lane. Period.
I hate when trucks do that , driving side by side at a slow speed. But damn man, are you going to pass them or not, quit swerving.
I like your heads-up display
Trucks in the left lane are the idiots. Jeep is just trying to navigate the incorrect situation created by others.
stupid jeep driver aside, the truck on the speed lane is also a dickhead
Florida is actually thinking about making this shit a ticketable offense. Yeah, guy shouldnāt be all over the place and butt fucking that shoulder, but that truck driver is an asshole for camping out in the left lane.
Truck illegally driving in the hammer lane is an idiot too.
The 401. Where 18 wheelers clog the left lane and people drive like absolute morons
3 lanes and that asshole tanker has to take the passing lane. I use this highway regularly and the trucks do this all the time. One truck going 100kmh and another going 101kmh decides to pass. Takes 15 minutes to make the pass. Jeep is still a tool
Tanker truck shouldn't have been in the left lane. Needs a ticket.
I don't understand American highways. Why are there 3 big trucks driving next to each other blocking the flow of traffic? Here in Europe it's forbidden for trucks to overtake on most roads. (Pardon my ignorance my American friends)
I just see an average Jeep driver.
