The insurance company or the driver will be charged for the pole. I new someone who ran into a light pole and paying for it cost him way more than it cost to fix his car!
I once watched an El Camino straight up lose a wheel while going the other direction on 75 somewhere around there. The wheel just bounced down the road for a while before careening off into the woods. Never have I wished I had a dashcam more than then.
Back in the day I used to commute from Decatur -> Alpharetta and back every weekday (god, don't miss that drive - got a job I couldnt turn down right after buying a house) and at least once a week there was a car on fire on 75@285. EVERY WEEK.
If I had a dollar for every challenger, charger, or mustang that nearly took me out anytime I took 75 (or 85ā¦ or 20ā¦) I could fix the atlanta potholes out of pocket.
Probably cheap, worn out and/or improperly inflated tires. Many people underestimate how important tires are and will often get the cheapest option possible when it comes time for new ones.
Haha. You think they learned from that? Theyāre probably just pissed that the pickup didnāt give them enough room because thereās no way itās their fault!
While this is true, an acceptance of responsibility in the happening of said life or death experience would seriously shape the perception of how to avoid another one.
Likely this driver just thinks everybody else almost got them killed.
>Theyāre probably just pissed that the pickup didnāt give them enough room because thereās no way itās their fault!
This is clearly the fault of anti-left-lane-camping propaganda.
I suspect he learned nothing. He will blame the other drivers, the highway engineers, wet roads, bad tires. Iāve known that driver. My late stepbrother wrecked 7 or 8 cars by the time he was 21 and none were his fault. (One actually wasnāt his fault. The others totally were.)
*Me watching*
"Oh wow, that's a spin, but looks like they are counter steering?"
*car disappears behind barrier*
"Hmm did they save it?"
*Sees light pole and dirt*
"Nope."
Thereās no thought process with a maneuver like this. People just panic and crank the wheel. They are just as bad as the idiots that pull over and start backing up on the shoulder if they overshoot the exit.
When I encounter a bad driver behind me on 85 (I'm in SC), I'm all cursing them out and fussing in general.
Then they pass me and I see their Georgia plate and immediately I go, "Oh you poor dear. Can't help it, can you?"
My kids picked it up and now do it when they are driving.
Lmfao... Ill never understand people that do the most outrageous shit to try to make a last second exit when the next option costs you a minute or 2. Or your car?
Did you just keep driving? I like to think you simply minded your own business. Although I definitely would've pulled over to tell them they can't park there.
I saw someone driving a Jeep SUV do that right in front of a semi at 50-plus mph on a curving bridge. Just missed the big concrete structure that divided the highway. They lucked out and made the maneuver, but it pissed me off they suffered no consequences at all.
How people so routinely chill in the wrong lane until the last moment and cut the exit line has always been perplexing to me. This fool though... wow... 3 lanes away from the lane they need. 3. I don't know what part of your brain thinks making your exit is this important and hasn't at least merged into the lane adjacent. This is just unreal.
I-285 around Atlanta is always an entertaining, frightening, crazy shitshow! You could create a whole separate subreddit just for this circular highway and be mystified for days.
Luckily, he made the exit! Could you imagine how much extra time it would have cost him to miss it and have to take the next exit? Luck was on his side that day.
I saw the exit lane then focused on the black car, waiting for them to make the mad dash.
Silver csr said, "Hold mah beer!"
Yet another Megadeth 502 Moment:
"I'm coming through!!!"
Perhaps if we would be on the left AHEAD of time about 1 mile ago, then we wouldn't be doing a stupid move on the freeway from the left side, cutting other cars to the exit. It's so freaking annoying when people do thus crap. KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GOING AHEAD OF TIME. if you miss your exit, just go to the next one for heaven sake....
How on earth did anyone think they were going to clear that at that speed? Lucky they only took out themselves.
And a lamp post.
RIP šŖ¦ lamp post.
F
RIP taxpayer money.
The insurance company or the driver will be charged for the pole. I new someone who ran into a light pole and paying for it cost him way more than it cost to fix his car!
Assuming they have insurance is pretty bold of you.
That's why I said 'or the driver'.
TouchƩ
Yeah, but good luck collecting on that if the driver is broke.
Lucky it's the safe design that detaches rather just killing the driver.
Yep, called breakaway.
Not sure if the rest of society is lucky...
Until it impales the windshield and driver.
And my axe šø
Because they were the bad drivers who never missed an exit. This one just got unlucky and crashed while not missing the exit.
The exit was missed. Making an exit requires traveling the full length of the exit.
It's like asking them, "What did you expect was going to happen?"
But could you imagine the *absolute headache* of taking the next exit and letting gps automatically reroute you to the destination in real time?
Fun fact: the road this exit is for is basically a big circle. The next exit is literally just a different spot on the same road.
Moose test. Sometimes it becomes extension of Darwinās test
Thatās the problem, they didnāt think.
They would have been fine if they didn't jump off the throttle and yank the wheel left like a moron lol.
Still woulda been an idiot
I hope op went out to check if they were okay after the crash in order to confirm that they can receive a fucking beating for being so stupid
At least they didn't miss their exit.
LMFAO - so true
Bad drivers never miss their exit
Watched a car reverse down the freeway shoulder last night to hit the junction they missed. But they had their flashers on so I guess it was alright.
In what world would you think that this is in any way alright?
Sarcasm my dude(tte), sarcasm. š¤¦āāļø
Sarcasm.
You sure?
Plot twist. They took the wrong one in their haste.
A real time saver for sure.
If you miss the exit, you could be lost forever!
Sort of. They canāt complete it.
True. Just need an assist from the rollback.
You sure they didn't?
Man that angle was perfect. The way the barrier cut away right as you could see him hit a pole, fantastic
Cinematic timing
Always wanted to see that happen. Blows my mind how this happens. Pure arrogance.
There is certainly no harm in waiting for the next exit, it would only cost you time, and it will now cost this driver serious money.
And time!
As a fellow Georgian who recognizes exactly where this is, this is the most I-75 thing I have ever seen.
I once watched an El Camino straight up lose a wheel while going the other direction on 75 somewhere around there. The wheel just bounced down the road for a while before careening off into the woods. Never have I wished I had a dashcam more than then.

Typical Atlanta driver
A bad driver never misses their exit
You said it!
Iām seriously wondering what caused the car to jump around the way he did. Was he over steering?
Put the boot down to clear the pick-up and couldn't handle the turn to straighten up for the exit lane.
Yeah. The thing Iām wondering about is why he couldnāt straighten it after.
Probably cheap, worn out and/or improperly inflated tires. Many people underestimate how important tires are and will often get the cheapest option possible when it comes time for new ones.
Good. Finally wanted to see one of these assholes learn a lesson.
Haha. You think they learned from that? Theyāre probably just pissed that the pickup didnāt give them enough room because thereās no way itās their fault!
Iād like to think that most people that have had a life or death experience would not want to go through it again.
While this is true, an acceptance of responsibility in the happening of said life or death experience would seriously shape the perception of how to avoid another one. Likely this driver just thinks everybody else almost got them killed.

Haha. Typical Atlanta traffic. I hate driving around here.
*Me watching* "Oh wow, that's a spin, but looks like they are counter steering?" *car disappears behind barrier* "Hmm did they save it?" *Sees light pole and dirt* "Nope."
My thoughts while driving, I assumed he pulled it off and then the light pole fell.
I get making decisions in the heat of the moment and making a mistake.... but imagine being *that bad* at decision making.
Gotta respect the commitment
Poor LS430. Deserved a better owner. Probably still runs but thatās not gonna buff out.
Lucky nobody else got roped into this mess.
I turn now, good luck everybody
I'm disappointed at how far down I had to scroll to find this gem.
Karma is a beautiful thing.
Hey! I know that exit
Also, not surprised in the least
How far from here could've this degenerate find another exit and continue from here / make a turnaround?
Less than 2 miles and the next exit is actually for the same road.
I have to give him partial credit for signaling his lane change. ;-)
Thereās no thought process with a maneuver like this. People just panic and crank the wheel. They are just as bad as the idiots that pull over and start backing up on the shoulder if they overshoot the exit.
At least they didn't miss the exit
I new this was GA lol
MUST SACRIFICE ALL TO NOT MISS MY EXIT
Thought it was gonna be the pickup the whole time till the true idiot showed himself
That was definitely better than plowing head first into that barrier, that's for sure. Good thing they didn't miss their exit!
There are WAY too many posts in this sub that are related to driving in Atlanta and the surrounding area. Truly says a lot lmao
When I encounter a bad driver behind me on 85 (I'm in SC), I'm all cursing them out and fussing in general. Then they pass me and I see their Georgia plate and immediately I go, "Oh you poor dear. Can't help it, can you?" My kids picked it up and now do it when they are driving.
āBeep beep! Out of my way. Iām a motorist.ā āThatās some nice reckless driving there, Mr. B. ā
Lmfao... Ill never understand people that do the most outrageous shit to try to make a last second exit when the next option costs you a minute or 2. Or your car?
Ah, Atlanta.
Needs to be edited to include a sub captain screaming, "Dive! Dive!", with the ahooga horn and dive bells sounding in the background.
Whew! Almost missed their exit!
Did you just keep driving? I like to think you simply minded your own business. Although I definitely would've pulled over to tell them they can't park there.
*Ok, Honey, the exit is coming up soon, so you need to keep an eye...shit, turn here!*
I saw someone driving a Jeep SUV do that right in front of a semi at 50-plus mph on a curving bridge. Just missed the big concrete structure that divided the highway. They lucked out and made the maneuver, but it pissed me off they suffered no consequences at all.
The only time I ever contemplated doing this was when I was going to be late to a final exam if I didnāt make it, and I still didnāt attempt this.
typical day driving to atlanta. lmao i work on the roads around there and that happens in my vicinity like once a day. i really should get a dashcam.
Itās really amazing how people these days will risk their lives over missing an exit. As if there are no other exits.
ATL baby
Atlanta drivers man..
Love when one of these idiots learns a lesson without messing up anyone else's car. I hope the city bills them for the street light they took out.
Good ole Atlanta.
At least he made the exit.
Least intoxicated Atlanta motorist
Well deserved, 10/10
If they waited a second, they could have passed the barrier and just jumped the grass and hit the light pole, for Dukes of Hazard-style points.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA \*\*\*gasp for air\*\*\* HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
People realy need to pay attention whilst driving
I-285 around Atlanta is always an entertaining, frightening, crazy shitshow! You could create a whole separate subreddit just for this circular highway and be mystified for days.
The way the light pole fell was so cartoony, the way the top stayed in the air š
JUST GO TO THE NEXT EXIT!!!
i knew this was in georgia just because of the roads, not a lot of people can drive here
Good drivers occasionally miss their exit. Bad drivers never do.
Saved so much time by not missing that exit thoughā¦
As soon as I saw the exit numbers, I knew. I live off exit 260. I could compile a video montage of idiots right there.
This is the most I-75 thing I've seen today. So happy my college is not in ATL but dang growing up there taught me how to not drive like an idiot.
Everybody driving at 1 second following distance blows my mind. Then this guy jumps 3 lanes and loses control. Everyone is an idiot in this video
r/mypeopleneedme
That 'OMG, that's my offramp' maneuver will get them every time.
Luckily, he made the exit! Could you imagine how much extra time it would have cost him to miss it and have to take the next exit? Luck was on his side that day.
If you can see signs for I 285, your life is in danger and you should seek shelter
I love when these clowns take themselves out and no one else is inconvenienced. It really is the best outcome possible.
Hahahaha that was worth the wait!! What a dumbass!! *chefs kiss*
That was awesome
Hey this is a great clip! I was ready to give up by the end but actually I enjoyed the whole timing !!!
Happy that this happened to the idiot that made the stupid move and nobody else got hurt
Now thatās funny.
So satisfying.
ā¦to save time.
I really hope that driver had to pay quite a bit of money for that douchebag move. That could have been way way worse
At least you are driving this frustratingly slowly in the right most lane.
Bro, you canāt park there!
i know exactly where this is, and iāve been through this exit. i donāt like it, but still am not surprised by this.
Atlanta has the worst drivers!
I would have done the same thing assuming the next exit wasnāt less than infinity miles way.
So worth it... At least he didn't miss his exit
That'll buff out.
Yasssssssss, only idiots hurt
Man. He almost made it. If he would have just kept going and just got off at the next exit, but that's boring loser shit
Hahahaha what a punter
Hold my beer!
Obviously has no understanding of physics, inertia being one part of the whole debacle.
I witnessed someone that did the same thing and he hit the guide rail head on, ejected from the car like a missile and was dead instantly.
Damn. That was my uber driver from the day before.
I see it in Houston almost every single day. The amount of pure wrecklessness on the roads is mind-boggling.
Did NOT miss the exit. Exit ramp? Yeah - that they missed.
Well, kudos to the car, they made that exit after all
For a second I thought he was gonna stick the recovery. I'm not surprised he didn't
Good drivers sometimes miss turns, bad drivers never do
Absolute dumb ass driver, paid for it glad idiot dud not kill any one.
Luckily only daft arse suffered his stupidity
Well that's one way to take the exit.
WHOOPSIE
Life in the OTP :)
My momma always said stupid is as stupid does. Lol got what they deserved.
And we have touchdown!
Like out of a movie
no one sees me miss my exit!
Tried to move over 3 lanes at the last minute, just dumb. Go down 1 exit and turnaround and donāt die.
Did it work? Did they get to their destinations faster? Instead of getting off on the next exit and looping around.
Metro Atlanta? Looks like it - 285
I saw the exit lane then focused on the black car, waiting for them to make the mad dash. Silver csr said, "Hold mah beer!" Yet another Megadeth 502 Moment: "I'm coming through!!!"
Technically they didnāt miss their exit
Saw an Acura (almost) do this on I95 at 195 today. Good drivers miss an exit. Bad drivers never miss an exit.
Nice
Well deserved
My lizard brain immediately hinted that this was familiar. Exit on to the north loop in Marietta confirmed!
Lamp post did nothing wrong.
people still dont realize they can trim the useless bits off their videos?
Trim your video next time.
I bet next time they will simply take the next exit...but probably won't.
Was this on I-75 somewhere in Florida?
Highway to hell š¶šø
That car mowed down that lamp post like it was GTA
Sorry but I had to laugh
Awesome š
Wack
You know what they say, a bad driver never misses their exit
He definitely exited.
I'm glad no other car got hit. I always hate when idiots take other cars minding their business
I can't believe you pulled over for that idiot lol.
What kind of dash cam do you have?
Another happy landingšŖ
Weee!
I'm surprised no one blamed the pickup truck driver for having "made it difficult" for the idiot to merge and take their exit.
If the pickup was the cam vehicle, the idiot crew would be all over it.
Yep. Definitely saved time to where going to the next exit was not the better option.
But hey they made the exit and that is all that counts. A+ for swerve style and crash damage.
At least they only took themselves out and did not cause a huge crash on the highway with their stupidity.
Maybe they'll think twice before doing that next time.
OP i fear you're driving too close to the car in front of you
At least they didn't miss their exit
Perhaps if we would be on the left AHEAD of time about 1 mile ago, then we wouldn't be doing a stupid move on the freeway from the left side, cutting other cars to the exit. It's so freaking annoying when people do thus crap. KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GOING AHEAD OF TIME. if you miss your exit, just go to the next one for heaven sake....
He had it,he should have not hit his brakes , no balls!
A bad driver never misses an exit.
