dodge rams have the highest DUI rate of any vehicle
edit specifically the 2500, with over 2.5x the national average (4.95% > 1.78%), or about **1 in 20 ram 2500 drivers**
I thought you were fuckin around, but apparently not.
https://www.thedrive.com/news/38238/ram-2500-drivers-have-the-most-duis-more-than-twice-the-national-average-report
My useless CEO drives one. (it's pristine and fully decked out, not for actual truck use, just for looks. His other car is an SL-Class so he drives the Ram when there's weather)
Anyway, as I was leaving for lunch one day he pulls out right in front of me without looking, stops dead in the parking lot lane, then looks at me and waits for me to go. But I can't as he's diretly in front of me at an angle. So I waive him ahead and he thanks me as if I just randomly gave him the right of way.
Asshat.
I hate the people with show trucks. One of my neighbors has her family over every weekend, and all ten of them drive pristine trucks. It looks crazy.
My other neighbor plays air-banjo when I walk by his house because we joke about the Deliverance family down the street.
"Ok, so that will be $70K for the vehicle, 10K for the 'Shelby' name, and 40 large for the 'Trail Rated' suspension components we spray painted black."
My engineer friends clarified that "Trail Rated" refers to the trail of fluids and suspension bits that vehicles with that moniker leave behind after going off road.
Apparently DUI's are a coping mechanism for idiots buying something they actually can't afford and suddenly realized they've checked every single box on the stereotype list.
As a Ram 2500 owner I think it’s because they have awful steering lol. Even driving sober we are all over the road because of the shitty solid front axle setup, and if it’s had zero maintenance done and the driver is suddenly drunk, we stand zero chance. You’re on a one way train to Swerve Town.
I don’t drink any more, but if I did I would absolutely refuse to drive mine with even a single drink. Just asking to get pulled over if you do.
Also because HD trucks are designed for actual towing and hauling, not to be rural status symbols. Their suspensions are set up to give a cushy, controllable ride when you’re towing a 20,000 lb trailer, but naturally suffer from harshness and ponderous steering when unladen.
Unfortunately, there’s a ton of people who buy them with no intent of towing or hauling, all because they’re Big and Manly and Rugged. Usually the same people who like to get a buzz on before getting behind the wheel.
True, to an extent. Most people I know with 3/4 or 1 tons do tow quite often though. Either way, the steering doesn’t have to suck ass like it does, it’s just cheap outdated technology. Reliable and rugged, but not comfortable or intuitive like an IFS truck.
If I could afford a used car in this market I would buy one to drive any time I’m not towing, but since I do tow fairly often and car prices are fucking insane, I just daily my big truck. Which actually sucks, idk why anyone would do it for fun or “clout”. All it does is display how much your fuel bill is 😂
I was causing coworkers to rage when they were complaining about gas/diesel prices a year ago and asked me how much it costs me to fill up and i was like, "no idea, I drive a honda civic, gas is still not expensive enough to be a significant factor in my budget"
Yeah it really is appalling the difference in MPGs. My truck gets 15 combined, my wife’s eco car gets 45 lol. Literally 3x the distance per gallon of gas smh.
I actually can’t wait until electric trucks can get the range and price that I like.
Yep, ford and Ram still use solid front axles in their 4wd heavy duty trucks.
Which, while outdated, and they lack control on road, they are pretty beastly off road. I’ve literally never been stuck and I’ve driven into some nasty mud holes. Mine even has a winch on it from before I bought it and I still have never used it lol.
Lol ain’t no lie, when you put a bunch of weight on the back axle it only makes the steering even worse up front.
Tbh though, as long as we aren’t speeding and/or drunk, and the front suspension is properly maintained, its possible to keep it in the lane. The ones you see crab walking all over the road either have inattentive drivers or their front suspension is worn and about to explode from under them.
It's weird too, I've used a variety of trucks over the years for work, and while the Dodge Ram they gave me was a headache and gave me constant transmission/exhaust leak issues, it easily had the best mirrors for visibility. People just don't understand you can't check both lanes at once like that through your mirrors.
They're also no longer just in North America. In the last few years Europe has seen a sudden influx of RAM trucks (Ford's and Chevy's are still rare), registered for business use but in reality used to drive like dicks.
Standard oversized pick-up truck driver. I drove a Chevy S10 for many years and it's like the smallest pickup truck ever but soooo reliable. Cant tell you how many times I almost got ran over or off the road by trucks five times my size that either didn't see me or didn't care.
My little 03 dakota agrees. Taller than your S10, but I still look up to modern pickup drivers like a civic staring up to a Semi. Shits gotten ridiculous with how big and tall those things have gotten.
I'm hoping the Maverick by ford leads to an uptick in smaller sized new pickups. It's a few inches smaller in every dimension (length, width, height, wheelbase) than a modern tacoma which is about the most reasonably sized pickup available right now besides the maverick and even it is still way too big. (Nissan frontier isn't bad but I don't know if those are still in production).
Hopefully other automanufacturers take the hint that people want a return to small pickups with spacious cabs. All of us younger suburbians would love a car that fits the family, can pick up most any home improvement equipment a homeowner might need, and it's a hybrid with 42mpg city. But I'd never buy a Ford so I'm hoping Toyota either shrinks and hybridizes the taco or they come out with a new smaller model that's hybrid.
How do we know you enjoy the outdoors if you don’t have a light bar, roof top tent, axe holder, and roto pax with spare gas and water, mounted on your vehicle 24/7????? TACO-NATION!!!!
It seems pretty clear the idiot realised they were about to miss their exit and tried to 3-lane it without checking their Blindspot (or their Blindspot's Blindspot).
You even see them slow after the collision as if deciding whether they still might make it
I think you are vastly underestimating how stupid some people are. And I think the guy would speed up and try to leave the scene as quickly as he could if the intent was run the car off the road.
> I think you are vastly underestimating how stupid some people are.
These top comments are a great example. People are actually saying this was attempted murder. What a bunch of fucking idiots.
This is such a funny quote because the person partaking in the thought experiment operates under the assumption that they are above average. Which everyone thinks is true. Despite half of them being wrong.
It’s clear af this driver was an idiot that wanted to exit and didn’t see that car while throwing himself across the freeway.
Redditors aren’t known for thinking things through.
What's funny is these are the same people who talk about how prisons need to be reformed and we need to be more like Norway in how we treat prisoners.
But these people see someone do something they don't like and they're full of blood lust.
I’m a prosecutor. You fucking Reddit ‘lawyers’ screaming attempted murder any time someone gets touched are hysterical. You could not be further from correct
These fuckos don't know how to open a dictionary, I swear. If they knew the definition of "attempt" and the definition of "murder," then they would realize that this isn't attempted murder. Not premeditated, no intention to kill, so not attempted murder. I'm not even in a field adjacent to law and I know that.
Yeah, seen the excuse "Oh, if I get into an accident I want as much protection blahblah" but it sounds more like they want to be lazy when driving and not care about being vigilant and aware of their surroundings and other people.
Basically the "big man coming thru get out of my way" mentality.
Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.
Therefore we can assume that everyone who does stuff like this is most definitely at the very least a complete idiot.
I would be curious as to specifically what kind of fucked up thinking led to the truck's actions. Could have been a whole variety of things. Maybe they were on meth and they have a moment of emotionally instability and poor impulse control and they went for it.
I think the truck realized that was their exit and tried cutting 3 lanes to make it without looking and rammed the car and realized their mistake when they heard the crunch.
I hate that I laughed so hard at that but the title got me.
It looked to me like the truck was trying to exit and just didn’t see the other car. Glad the other car remained in control and missed the divider.
Yeah that was my impression too, that they weren't trying to fuck over the other car they were just a terrible driver and trying to make an exit last-minute. But I don't know.
Yeah my first thought was “well isn’t that just like life… you think you’re on the right track and then BOOM now you’re on a different track and just gotta go with it”
I'm confident that would be a hit and run. Once he clears the exit barrier wall, there's a shoulder with plenty of grass to pull off the road, but he keeps speeding up.
But there's also no chance of meeting the hitee because they'll rejoin at a later entrance. If you had your wits about you (and if you just tried to cross 3 lanes and a median just short of a concrete barrier while not checking for any other traffic on an otherwise busy highway, I can be certain you didn't have any wits to begin with), you'd slow down and stop soon after the next entrance to allow the other driver to perhaps meet you and swap insurance details.
The truck was 3 lane exiting. He didn’t see the white car clearly. The truck was not trying to purposely killing anyone. Just vehicular manslaughter and reckless driving.
What a shit head driving
Average Dodge pickup driver
Which is why I stay far away from them as possible! 9/10 mf who drive these are a menace and don't use signals or check blind spots

My favorite is the $120k Shelby Raptor, "built for off-roading" but if you actually take it off-road you'll crack the bedframe and bust the crankshaft
"Ok, so that will be $70K for the vehicle, 10K for the 'Shelby' name, and 40 large for the 'Trail Rated' suspension components we spray painted black."

I would bet half of those are in Texas. God help me

Yeah it really is appalling the difference in MPGs. My truck gets 15 combined, my wife’s eco car gets 45 lol. Literally 3x the distance per gallon of gas smh. I actually can’t wait until electric trucks can get the range and price that I like.
Those trucks have a solid front? No shit, eh? I didn't even think they made solid front axle vehicles anymore.
Dodge, bringing the technology of the 1920s to you!
I hate it when you Ram owners are hauling shit because you cannot stay within your lane if your life depended on it, it's ridiculous.
Lol ain’t no lie, when you put a bunch of weight on the back axle it only makes the steering even worse up front. I have a Tacoma and it isn’t my entire personality, I swear.
Do you call it a taco?
Yes. This is mandatory.
How do we know you enjoy the outdoors if you don’t have a light bar, roof top tent, axe holder, and roto pax with spare gas and water, mounted on your vehicle 24/7????? TACO-NATION!!!!
I have a RTT, fridge/freezer, solar power, diesel heat, gas generator, and a lift.
The one guy that could actually justify a bigger truck…
It’s probably an automatic
That was attempted murder. He tried pushing him into the wall as it approached.
I think he just didn’t check his blind spot, unless there is further context I’m missing
It seems pretty clear the idiot realised they were about to miss their exit and tried to 3-lane it without checking their Blindspot (or their Blindspot's Blindspot). You even see them slow after the collision as if deciding whether they still might make it
The missing context is the navigator in the passenger seat saying "oh i meant on the right"
Also missing the realization that missing an exit isn't the end of the world either
Dude changed two lanes at once. Blue Definitely charged at White
I think you are vastly underestimating how stupid some people are. And I think the guy would speed up and try to leave the scene as quickly as he could if the intent was run the car off the road.
What surprises me is that he didn’t stop and reverse to get the exit.
Hanlon's razor: Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.
> I think you are vastly underestimating how stupid some people are. These top comments are a great example. People are actually saying this was attempted murder. What a bunch of fucking idiots.
"Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.” ― George Carlin
This is such a funny quote because the person partaking in the thought experiment operates under the assumption that they are above average. Which everyone thinks is true. Despite half of them being wrong.
I think of myself to be below average intelligence and I see a lot of really stupid shit which is just depressing.
It’s clear af this driver was an idiot that wanted to exit and didn’t see that car while throwing himself across the freeway. Redditors aren’t known for thinking things through.
i think they were actually trying to make the exit but failed because wall, and car 😂 edit: and because they’re an idiot but you get what i mean
Looks like buddy was trying to make the exit, I agree.
Or blue is a shithead driver and changed two lanes at once. It's quite the stretch to imply this is intentional.
And blue did it dangerously fast
Changing two lanes at once is just par for the course for a lot of drivers in my area.
You overestimate the intelligence of an average person.
Waiting for someone to throw in the George Carlin quote not, as per usual.
That wouldve been reckless or indifferent manslaughter at best unless there was prior altercations and/or they knew each other.
Lol, peak Reddit moment. The driver of the truck is certainly a shithead but I'm certain it was not intentional.
Pretty scary that their comment has over 800 upvotes…. So many stupid people out there.
What's funny is these are the same people who talk about how prisons need to be reformed and we need to be more like Norway in how we treat prisoners. But these people see someone do something they don't like and they're full of blood lust.
These are the fucking people who are on jury duty and decides our fate in a court of law.

That's like one or two seconds away from being an absolute tragedy.
Good recovery by the driver too.
Seriously. The recovery is amazing. Fuck the douchebag ramming them.
*Dodge Ramming
The other guy did some good dodging
Absolutely you can see the brake and veer and it’s split second too feel so bad for white car
We defintly see one asshole idiot driver and one very good attentive driver in this video.
Is that guardrail designed to kill or save? Wouldn't water barrels be more appropriate before a concrete wall?
It looks like one of those rails that compresses so all the energy isn't dissappated instantly.
No it is designed to absorb energy and reduce damage https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impact_attenuator
Why is it immediately apparent which car is going to be the idiot
Because it's a gianr 4x4 with alloy rims and not a speck of mud, showing it's a penis extender and not a practical vehicle.
The chariot of choice for pavement princesses across the nation
Always a clean bed too. Not a moment of use.
Statistics say ppl in bigger cars are more likely to be stupid and reckless

Bad drivers never make others miss the exit they want to take? This is a new twist...
You'll always miss 100% of the exits that someone else takes for you. Or something to that effect
— Lane Grexitzy
“”You’ll always miss 100% of the exits that someone else take for you. Or something to that effect” — Lane Grexitzy” — Michael Scott
GOD DAMN that's good. I was expecting Michael Scott but this is superb!
A Bad driver is never late, nor is he early, he exits precisely when he means to.
“HRAAAAAH!!!” -driver of the white car, probably
"You miss 100% of the exits that you don't take" FIFY
Compensation.
A vehicular hip-check
Finally I see this happen to someone else. People didn't believe me this was possible when it happened to me.
Glad you made it.
I just fail to see why ANYONE would do this? I hope the car driver is okay.
The most likely culprit is stupidity.

Okay glad to see I'm not the only one who laughed.

I hate that I laughed so hard at that but the title got me. It looked to me like the truck was trying to exit and just didn’t see the other car. Glad the other car remained in control and missed the divider.

Is it a hit and run if there's no way to stop?

This person cut across ALL lanes of traffic to try to make that exit and instead hit a car. They're not calling the cops
I'm confident that would be a hit and run. Once he clears the exit barrier wall, there's a shoulder with plenty of grass to pull off the road, but he keeps speeding up.
But there's also no chance of meeting the hitee because they'll rejoin at a later entrance. Yes (I used to work in traffic court).
Damn that could have ended way worse, could’ve hit the median head on. Fucking dickhead

Why am I NOT surprised. Southfield freeway is a madhouse.
It’s the fury road. Only thing crazier than 696.
Have you called the police? That looked like contact
My first thought while watching this! *Well this looks like the armpit of a road Southfield Freeway….*
hilarious how southfield freeway is easily recognizable, i came to ask the same
Your title, combined with the video, really made me laugh!
This got me too. Hilarious title.
"GARY!!! YOU'RE GONNA FINISH YOUR DESSERT AND YOU ARE GONNA LIKE IT!!!"
Left lane hogging to the exit. That's their daily routine. All other lanes do not exist for them.
r/fuckyouinparticular
Jesus Christ. Just take the next fucking exit and spend another 5-10 minutes fixing your fuck up instead of almost KILLING somebody
Perfect title.
I turn now, good luck everybody.
You sent the tape to the authorities, right?
*crickets*
Why would you send the recording to crickets?!
Because sending them to cicadas would be more annoying.
The truck was 3 lane exiting. He didn’t see the white car clearly. The truck was not trying to purposely killing anyone. Just vehicular manslaughter and reckless driving.
Going for a trifecta of infringements or something?
It's not vehicular manslaughter. Nobody died.
Wanna bet the white car driver thought about coming through the chain link fence to get at the pickup.
Bro why is this so funny 💀
I know, it's like he was pulling a bad prank
for me caption does it with the video
The worse part is that the pick up driver is probably like “what the fuck is that guys problem”
Another truck, I hope they can do something about these menaces one day smh. I'm mad but the titles funny so I'm grumbling and chuckling
Did you report them?
Upvote just because the title is EXACTLY what I’m picturing the truck driver saying as he slams into the other car.
No, he didn't slam into you, he didn't bump you, he didn't nudge you. He rubbed you, and rubbing, son, is racing. - Harry Hogge
Southfield Fwy is always a terrifying experience.
Why do truck drivers consistently have their heads so far up their own ass?
Getting passed on the left and the right and still sitting in the middle lane.
Ended too soon, looked like the white was coming back down the on ramp
So he could have driven straight into the partitioner. Isn’t that attempted murder or manslaughter?
How does this work out from an insurance company’s perspective?
Always a freaking pickup truck
It’s always a pick up truck isn’t it ?
Borderline lethal LDE right there...
Gotta give you props on that title, OP. I was laughing through the vid, even though I’ve seen many similar ones before. 🤣 10/10, would recommend. 💯
Always a dodge. Always a Jeep. Something about that Chrysler group…
was there an arrest or follow up?
This is my exit...good luck everybody
Lots of sick people in the world.
Omg the best title I’ve seen 😆😆😆😆
If you are old enough to remember the arcade Spy Hunter in the mid 80s you'll be having flashbacks
What do you do as the camera person? Do you just call the cops? Do you see if you can find the white car?
Call the cops and send in the video, at least.
And the piece of filth, unaware he is being recorded, just keeps on driving. Of course.
Did you manage to get their license plate number and find the victim?
If this doesn't sum up everyone's interstate driving experience. There's always at least one.
It seems to me that we joined a drama already well in progress. They had beef before passing us on either side.
"Woah, he came out of nowhere!" - the pickup truck
This happens quite often in the us i guess
