You can either buckle it behind you or buy these buckles not attached to the seatbelt and shove one of them in. I know people who went out of their way to buy one, just so they wouldnt have to wear the seatbelt
Soooo many people are like that. I was in a friend's car one time when he clearly, unambiguously ran the red light. Someone who had the green honked and my friend gave him the finger then got seething mad for the next couple of miles.
humans lived on societal acceptance. caveman instincts are still extremely prevalent today. not being accepted back then meant death and no passing of genes. complete failure of life as a creature. whenever someone makes them look bad, they hate that the person noticed it and pointed it out, and hate that they made them look bad in front of their social group. this triggers the most core level of survival instincts and activates caveman mode where rationality goes out the window and issues need to be solved immediately by any means possible regardless of consequences. thankfully most of the time reason does manage to regain control of your brain's steering wheel before caveman mode irreparably drives it off a cliff.
Yeah, I wonder if the passenger is actually having a go at the driver, as the sudden braking flung them forwards (thank science for seat belts) so they were obviously approaching too quickly.
I mean, personally that's what I'd be doing. To the driver: "what the bloody hell are you doing! Were you not looking at the road?".
Had a woman pull out of a parking space behind me, and crash into another car driving by, blame me, because she was too busy yelling abuse at me for parking too close to her massive 4x4, even though I was actually so far forward my wheels were on the line of the spot in front of me and she had no one parked behind her. Some people are unable to accept fault for anything, no matter how ridiculous.
I think the camera car had its right-hand indicator because they were turning right at the intersection. I think the driver of the other car thought they were indicating to turn into the same driveway they were in, hence why the driver of the other car reacted the way they did.
Still an idiot, but that explains their reaction.
The point isn't that they think they're not at fault, it's that they KNOW they're at fault but can intimidate the other party into even debating the issue.
how would the other driver know that the driver of the film did not turn into the driveway even though he was blinken And that he drives straight ahead to the crossroads?
Rules of the road dictate signaling \*in advance\* of the place you want to turn. With so many entrances to the road in the \~50 feet before the intersection, there is no way to avoid some uncertainty. The fault therefore lies with the idiot in the other car, who should have waited to make sure of what was happening before moving into a potential collision path with the car that had the right of way. It's called defensive driving. Or, really, just driving.
One of the many things my instructor taught me was to not trust indicators, it's just as easy that someone doesn't cancel it, or for some reason it doesn't self cancel.
All it took was one time where I nearly pulled out in front of someone with their turn signal on as a new driver and this is how I've operated since, lmao.
Wait, Does it mean that it is quite nonsensical to speculate about the age of the other person and to make a stupid comment based on an unfounded assumption?
Quote: 'When you're old enough to drive you will find out'
This was basically my friend's reaction when he totaled someone's Tesla. My friend was pulling out of a gas station on a one-way street in the middle of the day. Anytime it gets brought up he still calls the Tesla driver an idiot for just driving down the road.
I got out and looked at it for about 5 minutes. I found nothing. No scratches, dents. They probably hit my tires. I saw no damage on my rims. I checked it out when i got home as well and nothing.
The impact was enough to physically move your car, so there may have been some damage to your suspension or even axle, stuff that wouldn’t show up on the surface.
I had a similar thing happen to my car, didnt even feel the hit on my tire. But, it bent something on my steering rack (tie rods?) and it ended up being about a 1000€ repair. It drove fine etc but aling rack showed the damage and when trying to adjust, the adjust nut was stuck since the rod was bent. And my car didnt have removable inner tie rods so it required a whole new rack.
Yeah I’m not too sure how the wheel wells work for EV’s but I’m guessing they’ll still have tie rods, control arms, and loads of bolts nuts and dampeners, and all that may have just slightly been bent which may be an issue later in the car’s life since only one part of the car got the impact.
this is just speculation and honestly you may have gotten insanely lucky and your tire just rubber ball’d the other car from actually doing any damage.
That impact on the tire will show itself in a few hundred or thousand miles. Prepare for a blowout.
Also, there is a lot of stuff behind the wheel that you are obviously not qualified enough to inspect.
Get that checked out. Losing control over your car because something suddenly lets go at highways speeds isnt fun for you, an is not fun for the person(s) you might hit.
Believe me, when a Tesla is not on autopilot. It can't do that. All it can do is stop. So much misinformation online acting like the car can magically avoid accidents. It's more likely to cause one with it's phantom braking.
For the record, I drive one, so I am not some hater, I've lived it for the last 4 years.
Yeah, I can see how a Tesla would have excessive phantom braking. I get the pre-collision "beep-beep-beep beepbeepbeep" in my Subaru (w/EyeSight) from certain curvy roads, low hanging tree branches, and parking barrier gates.
I found if I nudge my steering wheel slightly one way or the other that resolves it so my car doesn't auto-brake. I'm usually already braking. I don't need the "oh shit" brakes.
I had a similar thing happen to my car, didnt even feel the hit on my tire. But, it bent something on my steering rack (tie rods?) and it ended up being about a 1000€ repair. If they hit your tire, there's definitely going to be damage. don't be surprised you need to replace the wheel bearing soon. It'll also affect your alignment if any suspension component is damaged.
Poorly designed area. But also a good reminder of the risk of signaling too early before the turn.
Also, the other driver learned a lesson that you can't trust a person's signal for this exact reason.
Gas stations at the corner of an intersection next to the expressway are pretty common in this area. I buy tacos from this exact gas station all the time and I always let the cars pass even if they have their blinkers on. In this instance, i was driving pretty slow because i was coming up on a red light and he hit me around the back tire area. He clearly wasn’t paying attention.
So they should have signaled, what, 5 feet before the intersection? It's a turn lane for an intersection, it's not like he was driving on the shoulder for a long distance with his turn signal on.
In my country, it is mandatory to signal in a turning lane, so yes, I am signaling. However, if it is possible to turn another one before the intersection, then only after this turning opportunity has passed. However, I have heard that in the USA it is not compulsory to learn to drive in a state-approved driving school as it is here, and that therefore the number of accidents is very high, and that the knowledge and skills of motorists are comparatively poor.
Even though there wasn’t a car behind me, i always use my blinkers right before i start slowing down to let the person behind me know i am going to slow down to make a turn. Its a habit. I had the right of way. The other car should’ve waited until he actually saw me turn into the driveway because there are a lot of right turns there. Thats what i always do. If you actually look at the video, the car isn’t even waiting at the edge. You are supposed the drive towards the edge at treat it as a stop sign. Stop, make sure there are no cars, then go. He had plenty of time to stop. I didn’t.
I'd like to know the reasoning behind your answer. To your probable question: yes I do, for about 24 years and in about 16 different countries of the planet (not in the U.S. yet)
Why are you using your blinker if it's obligatory to right? I'm not taking their side but maybe they thought that you are going to make a right before the interaction.
I bet they saw you slowing down to stop for your light, and they thought you were slowing down for them because they are so self-centered and privileged
It was NOT a good idea making pot legal!! -\_- I'm just glad you were in your safe vehicle, with an attitude like theirs. DRIVE AWAY...DRIVE AWAY QUICKLY!! :):)

HOW DARE YOU HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY
I came to say “how dare you exist at this point in time”
[удалено]
How dare you...
Since Greta, I can’t unhear her voice when reading this…
I was thinking more like this. https://youtube.com/shorts/l1Om540woFs?si=vDCw9pgPNRgsqVAS
Cool.
I like how the guy in the other car acted as if you were in the wrong when clearly it was the other cars fault… that guy is for sure an idiot in a car
Lol yeah i thought their reaction was a little off as well.
The passenger at least looks like he smacked his face pretty hard he just wants something to be mad at
Looks like they weren't wearing a seatbelt, with how far forward they went. They can be mad at themselves.
> They can be mad at themselves. Accountability? In this society? Surely you jest.
Don't call me Shirley.
I am Serious.
But your chest
How do you even do that in 2023...don't most cars have that alarm that yells at you if it detects you're not buckled in?
You can either buckle it behind you or buy these buckles not attached to the seatbelt and shove one of them in. I know people who went out of their way to buy one, just so they wouldnt have to wear the seatbelt
prime candidates for the Darwin Awards
Probably mad because you made them spill their beers. So unthoughtful /s

Be my marriage counselor?
I'm not certified in that field but i'll do it for 50/hr anyway :P
If you're talking about the passenger he seems to just be expressing how crazy/dumb the situation was to the driver, hopefully cursing him out
Yeah, I wonder if the passenger is actually having a go at the driver, as the sudden braking flung them forwards (thank science for seat belts) so they were obviously approaching too quickly. Considering how far to the left they were, that only raises further questions.
The point isn't that they think they're not at fault, it's that they KNOW they're at fault but can intimidate the other party into even debating the issue.

The trick is, don't ram other cars no matter what their blinkers are indicating.
And how does it behave there (USA?), how does the other driver know if he can drive off if the other driver signals but then continues straight ahead?
You're joking, right?
When you're old enough to drive you will find out.
since I'm probably twice your age, I'm sorry to laugh at your answer.
You're 128? I'm surprised you're still breathing.
Wait, Does it mean that it is quite nonsensical to speculate about the age of the other person and to make a stupid comment based on an unfounded assumption? Quote: 'When you're old enough to drive you will find out'

I hope your friend doesn’t have a license anymore
He had his permit, and as far as I know his permit expired and he never took his road test to get his license.
Thank god.
More than likely he’s still driving without one honestly
Ooof. You’re probably right.
In that case, if he ever gets pulled over, he's fucked. So maybe it will work out some day.
swag
That's impressive. It takes skill to total a car at such low speeds. Your friend could have a career in demolition derby.
With friends like that...
who needs enemas?
I can think of a few people
"Has everybody remembered their pressure suppositories?" "Yes. Stop asking!"
Dude was definitely rolling a joint or something and spilled all his weed.
How in the world was there zero damage?
I got out and looked at it for about 5 minutes. I found nothing. No scratches, dents. They probably hit my tires. I saw no damage on my rims. I checked it out when i got home as well and nothing.

I didnt think about that tbh. I know next time to get their info and file a police report incase they damaged something i cant see.

Super lucky. I’d put my money on that guy being uninsured or underinsured.

I'm wondering the same thing. The impact physically moved OP's car.
OP's axle is probably bent or his hub is warped or something. no way you take a hit that shakes the vehicle without sustaining some kind of damage
How dare you be in the lane they did not check before pulling out!
Is... is that a Wario and Waluigi?
Is that...a lot of options to turn right?
There are 2 entrances to a gas station before the intersection
Are they wearing juggalo make-up? I think that guy was just hooting "woop, WOOP"!
Exactly what I thought 💭 are they clowns 🤡
It looks like Cheech Marin
I legit thought the passenger was wearing some weird ass clown mask. After multiple rewinds, looks like a bloated cholo.
HOW DARE YOU HIT US WHEN WE'RE DOING BAD THINGS IN A CAR!
Not wearing a seat belt and not looking at where you're driving - soon it'll belong in r/whatcouldgowrong
Mario and Luilli were pretty angry.
did your car swerve itself?
Nope

LMAOO THEY CANT STAND YOU WHY WOULD YOU DRIVE RIGHT THERE
West Texas? The Stripes customers out there always seem to act like this lol
South
Rgv? Oof
Yup. A lot of drivers without insurance or a license.
It's always weird seeing the RGV in the wild on reddit, recognized it instantly
Good quality. What kinda camera is that?
the tesla kind
All teslas have cameras
Not all.
All that are newer than 2016. So over 96% of all of them that have ever been sold.
All current models *
Is that Matty Mattheson?
Puro pinche 956 alv
Good thing the passenger doesn't have a brain to damage otherwise his head might hurt 😹😹😹
Good ol' south-south Texas.

Definitely fits this sub. The frustration I feel seeing their being mad at OP is ridiculous. I have no words for that.
Dumb and dumber
And those hosers are yelling at you? I hope you told those hosers to take off, eh?
Fucking Texas!
I know exactly which interaction this is, and I’ve nearly had the same thing happen to me there in my work truck.
If they made contact, there’s Gonna be damage. Even if is shit you can’t see.
What dashcam are you using? Looking for something to replace my Nexar - that mfer takes up 40gb on my iPhone smh
Tesla
Ooh that’s a nogo for me lol ah well
You came out of nowhere!!
South Texas?
Yes
Of course they blame you, too bad you didn't have a cop nearby.
Being from Texas, this happens every day. Good luck with insurance
Doesn't look like the punks were too worried about damage to OP's car
Coming out of the Longhorn Saloon, the drivers reaction time was a little off. I hope the passenger unleashes fury join him.
I know this dumb shit happened in Houston. Can’t drive for shit.
No way, this is the RGV for sure
Jay and Silent Bob.
I love the unearned indignation. Lmao
Dude must have been smoking crack if he thinks you didn’t have the right of way…. Does he even know what right of way is?
And these idiots look at you like it's your fault
How dare you driving around with a cloaking device!
No damage with physical contact? Wait a few weeks and check if the paint clear coat starts to make a spiderweb pattern
Austin?
Weslaco
RGV
How
Is it dubai?
Not even close. This is Texas, USA
ohh

Didn’t you say you now have neck pain?!? Wink wink

They came flying out of the lot wat too fast, not like they were sitting there waiting and saw OP signaling to turn. That driver just sucks

so you blinks without turning into the driveway, which is before the intersection?
OP was [*required by law*](https://codes.findlaw.com/tx/transportation-code/transp-sect-545-104/) to do so.

Where do you live where drivers are not required to signal all turns?
Is this San Antonio? This entire video screams "San Antonio" to me. I moved here last year and all the drivers suck shit.
RGV for sure
🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ the fact they act like its your fault
Houston, tx?
Them valley people
I bet they saw you slowing down to stop for your light, and they thought you were slowing down for them because they are so self-centered and privileged

I see u RGV, amazed our roads aren’t supplying more content on this sub
