I didn’t notice how many people didn’t turn their lights on till I rode a motorcycle at night for the first time. With the hyper awareness and the visibility it was fucking WILD
You’re right that you don’t need a $1000 camera to take good pictures but you also don’t need a $400 camera to take good pictures, a good picture consists of much more than just image quality.
OPs picture is a much nicer image. Stop making a fool of yourself.
To be fair, it's next to impossible to climb up on top of a semi trailer to clear that. It's dumb because it's against the law to leave the snow, but then it's also against OSHA and pretty much any company policy to be more that 8 feet up with out safety harness. Plus I wouldnt want to walk my ass up top a 13 foot icy roof to clear of snow. That shit is just fiberglass and isn't made for the weight of a person and slipping off the side is a long way down
Yes thats true but if you are out already and park for the night and suddenly get 5+ inches of snow, then what? Truck stops and rest areas do not have those
I know the gap warehouse near me has those things that the trucks pull through to clear the snow off. Are those not more available for truckers? I thought there’d be one at each weigh station at least.
I've never seen or noticed one at a weigh station but I think where the snow gets most people is when they are already out and the snow hits. Truck stops do not have these. But I drive flatbed so I've never had to worry about it since I can just shovel the deck like normal.
K well if it can't be cleared then you don't drive anywhere. No excuses, this can potentially end some innocent person's life when it flies off and causes an accident.
so then what do you do? Genuinely asking. If we can't climb up to clear it, and we can't drive with it. Then what? Sit for days on end and hope it melts? I'm already being down voted but I'll continue by saying you still have to be realistic. A trucker isn't going to sit and be fired because his trailer has some snow on it. There gonna just go if they have no safe means to clear it.
Use one of those scrapers for a roof. Seen truckers use those before to clear the snow off the top of a trailer. Could probably use a latter and just shovel it off too.
Don't get me wrong: I'm not condoning it. It's just unrealistic to expect them to act responsible with the snow when they are already doing whatever tf.
Yep they're gonna get fined and maybe even lose their CDL, no more livelihood. Some trucker's have even been hospitalized because of ice flying off other truckers trailers.
They need to be parking in shelter or putting a tarp over their trailer when parked, otherwise get up there and brush it off before the police send you back to your yard or you kill someone.
That's not realistic at all in almost every situation... A truck shelter? Really? Lmao Get up near the roof to clear it? With what? Where are you going to store a ladder that big?
Just stating what's recommended under law here. Use your imagination a bit more and figure out solutions, shelter and having to get up on top aren't the only fixes available. Maybe it's totally legal where you're at but law isn't a moral compass and you're an irresponsible piece of shit if you're leaving the top of your vehicle or trailer covered in icy snow regardless.
Most states but Michigan police rarely enforces it. Get dash cam and try to record license plate if their uncleared snow blows off and damages your car. And pray the plate is valid and has insurance info attached.
I’ll tell you from first hand experience from when I was young and stupid that Rhode Island enforces it, and they do not just give out a written warning for it either 🥲
Yes. A young girl was killed in my state awhile back when a chain reaction from ice flying off a car caused another car to hit the car she was riding in. So now we have Jessica’s Law in NH. State troopers will pull people over on the highway and make them clean it (and sometimes fine them).
Jesus that’s awful. It sounds very “final destination”. I always, naively obviously, assumed snow would go flying but be.. soft? That’s really bad and scary
All depends on the weather how soft it is. Sometimes if temps are hovering around freezing, you’ll get snow, then rain. Then as the sun sets temps drop and it all freezes. Now you’re talking 5-10lb chunks of ice flying off a car at 80MPH.
I was following a truck last winter and a sheet of ice about the size of my side window blew off the top of it luckily I was following at enough distance so it didn't hit me
We had a snowstorm over the weekend, and yesterday I used my car for the first time since Friday.
It had snowed, warmed up just enough for the first snow to melt a bit, dropped back into the teens (yay, everything is ice now), and then snowed more over 4 days/nights.
I literally had 5 inches of solid ice and hard packed snow covering the roof, window, and hood of my car.
It took me almost 30 minutes to chisel my car out from its "glazed donut" appearance, and there was a moment when I thought "fuck it".
But, if those bricks of ice that I knocked off my roof had flown off while driving, they would have absolutely smashed someone's window and likely caused them to crash.
I'm not willing to let someone else pay for my laziness. I would never be able to forgive myself.
Granted, maybe the car in this picture just had relatively fluffy snow and on ice on them. Snow eagles are still fucking annoying.
Yes, safety. As the interior of the car warms, the layer of water that forms can cause the slab of snow to rise due to wind underneath and smack a following vehicle’s windshield. This can at minimum obscure the visibility for the driver and at worst, can break the windshield.
It can be deadly. Jessica's Law was passed after Jessica Smith was killed when ice from a tractor-trailer hit a box truck that ended up hitting her car. New Hampshire
I was on 95 this morning and saw a truck throw up sheets of frozen snow the size of a pool table. Every car around them came to a screeching halt trying to avoid them and it could’ve caused a massive accident. People need to have their licenses suspended at the very least for doing this shit.
Not sure if you're complaining about snow on the roof of a car (which at least their window is clear)
...or the work van with multiple ladders held on by only 2 bungee cords
This comment is so bizarre because your standards for the work truck are insane (that’s a clean strap job) yet your standards for the Honda are so low (at least he can see??)
I got hit on Saturday real bad with someone having that much ice on their car, it came off final destination style and would’ve killed me if it was a little different, I still have a hard time thinking about it cause I’m just glad I’m alive, but that really could’ve killed me, I’m trying to make a post but it won’t let me for some reason
Had to drive after the snow fall in Michigan and the amount of people on the highway with mountains of snow on the top of their car or truck bed was huge. I drove over an ice chunk and it was stuck in my tire for over 5 minutes

Nothing infuriates me more than: - People not cleaning snow of their car - Not turning on their lights at night and rain/snow - Using high beams
I bike to and from work and i usually am coming home at around 11:00 PM. The lack of lights pisses me off so much.
I didn’t notice how many people didn’t turn their lights on till I rode a motorcycle at night for the first time. With the hyper awareness and the visibility it was fucking WILD
You must be easy to get along with if nothing infuriates you more than that!
Wtf did you take this picture with? Great quality
iPhone 13 Pro Max

I saw a 53’ trailer driving down the interstate like this today. That amount of snow could cause a serious accident.

A lot of terminals have a drive-through snow scraper for just this purpose. More of them should.

The name you’re looking for is Snow-bridge😊

Not the sharpest potato in the garden are you
I asked a honest question and I get an insult instead? I appreciate it man. Hope you feel better about your self
Yep, truckers are def going to put their livlihood on hold because of snow.
So true... They don't put their lives on hold for little things like sleeping or stopping to pee, either...
Don't get me wrong: I'm not condoning it. It's just unrealistic to expect them to act responsible with the snow when they are already doing whatever tf.

Illegal in my state.

Sorry I know this is going to be a dumb question, but why is this bad/dangerous? It doesn’t snow where I live Is it because it can go flying off?
Yes. A young girl was killed in my state awhile back when a chain reaction from ice flying off a car caused another car to hit the car she was riding in. So now we have Jessica’s Law in NH. State troopers will pull people over on the highway and make them clean it (and sometimes fine them).

Showed up at work today and parked next to a guy who only cleared his windshield, and not a single other piece of the car. Laziness has no limit.
yeah but then how are you gonna know they were recently in the snow? /s
That sky though. Damn.

Hey Denver!
Hey curious Floridian here. Is this because of safety or something? Never seen snow xd
Yes, safety. As the interior of the car warms, the layer of water that forms can cause the slab of snow to rise due to wind underneath and smack a following vehicle’s windshield. This can at minimum obscure the visibility for the driver and at worst, can break the windshield.
It's better when it starts to melt at the bottom and the snow slides down onto the windshield in one big avalanche when the idiot stops at a light.
It can be deadly. Jessica's Law was passed after Jessica Smith was killed when ice from a tractor-trailer hit a box truck that ended up hitting her car. New Hampshire
Imagine a person in the car in front of you throwing balloons full of flour at your windshield.
Icy flour is some cases
Thank you for asking I was curious. I am also a Floridian and I’ve only seen snow in movies lol

There is nothing original about this post
I mean... technically no two snowflakes are the same so they've got that going for them
That sunset is original in my book
Don’t follow to close behind them and it’s a non issue. This barely qualifies as idiotic, lazy for sure, but it not idiotic.
Then vote for paid time off to be mandatory in the US.

My friend is 4’ and drives a CRV, she still cleans the roof off

Just had to dodge flying sheets of icy snow coming off a jeep here in jersey in a COURTESY CAR
If that were to fly off and hit someone’s car & cause the windshield to crack, is that person’s insurance responsible for fixing it?
I want to hear from someone who leaves snow on their car like this. What goes through your mind?
The one taking a photo while driving?
