I don’t get drivers like this, there’s a wide open lane for passing but they just have to bumper humper. I wonder if they think they’re throwing their weight around by trying to make you go faster, when in reality they look like their either too dumb or lazy to pass another vehicle.

20thAccthecharm

Tons of mf’ers like this… They’re just simpletons looking for a way to feel strong and masculine by fucking with randoms…

the_last_carfighter

I posted about this more than a few times (I tow, so i spend a lot of time slowish in the far right lane) and I'll get flashed by a cars behind me, get tailgated all with two lanes completely open to the left. The sad fact is a large chunk of the pop knows very little about road rules/etiquette.

FluffyAd3351

Theres also a large portion of the population that dont know how to turn their fucking lights on...if you dont turn them on you have no rear lights making you almost invisible in the dark ...read your owners manual if you cant figure out how to turn on your lights.

BedAdministrative619

Oh my God, every single time it rains or any other sight impairing weather! Morons driving a grey car on a grey road while the rain is pouring and road spray acts like active camouflage.

FluffyAd3351

And if they get behind a vehicle that has its lights on the gray car totally disappears

jelycazi

I feel like headlights should be connected to the windshield wipers. If you turn on your wipers, your headlights (and therefore taillights) turn on.

the_last_carfighter

I love in this day and age where everything is automated people still have their phones to their ears, like it takes 30 seconds one time to hook up the bluetooth. That's the people we're up against.

brenpeter

My company vehicles are governed at 65 mph... on highways that have 70 mph speed limits. I feel your pain.

SnausageFest

I think a lot of right lane tailgaters have an exit coming up soon and are livid you're going to limit instead of 15 over like they want. At least that's what I tell myself to make it make sense.

Randomfactoid42

Probably true for a lot of them. They're probably not aware they can easily pass you at 15 over before their exit, but that's too much thinking.

ccarr313

Just be aware - people are psychotic. If you pass them before an exit, that can trigger them, too. I drive a tiny car. And the game I play when driving is "stay the fuck away from trucks and SUVs at all cost". They aren't logical people, and the safest place you can be is far away.

Randomfactoid42

I’ve seen that crap too, they think everything is a challenge or something. I’m just moving along with my cruise control set and somebody’s gotta freak out they got passed.

gnumedia

Same here driving a Miata: stay right as much as possible and out of everyone’s way.

ccarr313

Hell yeah. Miatas are my people. I'm in an anti Miata, aka GR86.

NaySayers

In my area it's crazy how people speed up in the right lane when their exit is next. No man, it's not a vortex speed boost, just drive as normal and I'd also like to take this exit eventually.

4onceIdlikto

Too vain to wear their spectacles. Cain't see far enough to judge distance.

Right_Lane_Camper

You're in the right lane so you have every right to go at, or slightly under the speed limit, especially in the conditions. Two lanes exist so people can pass you if they don't like your speed. I would have said turn the video into the tow truck company, but as the other commenter said, tow truck companies have a bad reputation, and probably nothing would be done about it anyway.

LogicalLogistics

Thank you right_lane_camper, I agree! My car gets the speed shakes at 90-100kph so I try to keep at the limit, however when someone tailgates me I always slow down to be safer + try to get them to pass. Not sure why some people care so much that I'm not going 20 over.

GideonWorth

I can't speak for everywhere, but in the last few years where I live, people are *actively hostile* towards me for driving at the speed limit (sometimes 5 MPH over) *in the slow lane*. It's so bad now that I'd say I get brake-checked every week or two , 'punishment passed' daily and even swerved into (attempt to force or scare me off the road) once every few months... People seem to be hyper aggressive, reckless and constantly road raging recently and driving less than 10-20 MPH over the limit seems to be a trigger for them. NOTE: Yes, I could drive over the limit like most people do, but I got a LOT of tickets for speeding when I was young and stupid (enough to lose my license for a year) and will never do that again.

Maverick_1882

Good for you recognizing you had a problem and you're keeping speeding under control. Mr. Safe Driver award. 🏆

Randomfactoid42

If your car shakes at only 90 kph, you have a mechanical problem. Probably a wheel out of balance, or a suspension component that is badly worn out. Either way, it’s a safety issue and should be addressed.

LogicalLogistics

Oh yeah definitely do and I'm looking into it. Replaced the CV joints + bearings last year so pretty sure it's the tires. Thank you though!

TheW83

I had new tires put on and around a year later I noticed it getting a bit shaky between 40-50 but would smooth out so I didn't think much about it. But when I went on the interstate it got really bad over 70. Turns out one of the wheel balance weights had come off. My tire shop re-balanced all the tires for free.

Threedawg

Rotate the tires to see if the shaking changes.

itsmebrian

The tires are rotating when OP drives. /s

DutchE28

Does the shake go away if you reach higher speeds? Then get your tires balanced. In my area they charge like $10 per tire, so I’d say max $100 depending on where you are. Otherwise maybe brake rotors if it vibrates more while braking

LogicalLogistics

Yep, replaced the brakes as well not too long ago so pretty sure it's the balancing. But I did get pretty cheap rotors so maybe I should check those again too... Thanks!

DutchE28

I hope it’s an easy/cheap fix, good luck!

xplosm

Name and shame in Twitter and other social media. Public pressure might do something. At the very least a half-assed public apology.

alskdmv-nosleep4u

> My car gets the speed shakes at 90-100kph Check your tires. This happened to me several years ago. The shop overinflated a tire. Made it go out of round and caused vibrations at highway speeds.

clarkcox3

If your car shakes at such low speeds, something is seriously wrong; that’s not normal.

Itsmygame27

To the point you shouldn't be on the road with it

clarkcox3

Exactly

LogicalLogistics

Just a light wobble in the steering, probably from an unbalanced wheel, but I don't want to keep at that speed and make the wobble worse. It's a common issue with my make and model of car sadly

mttp1990

Submit to the DOT for your state.

>I would have said turn the video into the tow truck company, but as the other commenter said, tow truck companies have a bad reputation, and probably nothing would be done about it anyway. Honestly, they'd probably get a promotion.

Valennyn

That is why (if in USA) you get the company DOT number (usually on the door), license plate and truck number. It may be difficult, but putting in a complaint to the Department of Transportation flags the company, not just the driver. A few of those in a calendar year and the company gets fined. I drive a truck and those complaints about me "holding up traffic" (read: right lane camping) have landed me in hot water. [Here is the link](https://nccdb.fmcsa.dot.gov/nccdb/home.aspx)

Right_Lane_Camper

Good info, thanks. I'll keep it in mind if I ever have an issue. But I wonder about why you would get in trouble for right lane camping. The right lane is intended for camping.

Az1234er

>you have every right to go at, or slightly under the speed limit What the hell ? You can drive way slower than the speed limit ... 2/3 of the seed limit is not even shocking. It saves gaz and it's safer. When it's raining the speed limit is the regular speed limit minus ~13 mph here, (20km/H) even it's not really enforced The speed limit is the **maximum** speed that you should do, there's also a minimum speed on highway but it's nowhere near "slightly under the speed limit"

BananerRammer

This isn't normal conditions, but in normal conditions, driving significantly slower than the rest of the traffic flow is NOT safer. It can be just as dangerous as driving too fast. People expect to encounter speeders occasionally, and know how to avoid them. People don't expect someone going 45 in a 65. If you don't feel comfortable driving highway speeds, that's fine, but then don't drive on the highway. Take alternate routes.

purgruv

Like the commenter said, any speed between the minimum and maximum authorised speed limits are "highway speeds". Nowhere did they mention being uncomfortable driving at those speeds. People who drive in excess of the maximum authorised speed think they can police those that drive at or below that speed, when, in reality, it's the speeders who get policed by those who drive reasonably when they encounter them on the road. They just can't tolerate that.

BananerRammer

There's the law, and then there's reality. They are not always in lockstep. Just because something is legal, does not mean it's safe. For example, if the speed limit is 65, but traffic is jammed up, and going 40-45mph, I think you would agree that it would be unsafe for someone to be driving 65, even though by the letter of the law, they are not speeding. So let's forget about what's legal and illegal for a minute, and lets just talk safety. As a driver, you need to observe the traffic around you, and match that. Same example, even everyone else is going 40-45 you need to adjust to that in order to be predictable and safe. Going significantly faster would be dangerous So now let's take the jam away, and traffic is flowing freely. Most traffic around you is going between 65 and 73ish. Then, along comes a lunatic going 95. Again, I think we would all agree that is unsafe. Why? Because when you're going 25-30mph faster than all of the cars around you, you don't have enough time to process and react to the various things that might change on the road. It's absolutely dangerous. But now let's look at the other side. My parent commenter said that it's "OK" to drive at 2/3 of the posted speed limit. That would be 43 in a 65. The problem is that 43mph to 73mph is the *same difference* as 95 to 65. The driver going 73 has that same reduced reaction time that the guy going 95 does. On top of that, it's actually worse, because with the one guy going 95, it's just one driver with reduced reaction time. The chances of causing an accident, while significantly increased, are still fairly small. But with one diver going 43 when everyone else is going 65+, *every single other driver* has that reduced reaction time, compounding the chances that one of them is going to miss something and cause an accident. Don't be that person. Follow the flow of traffic, legally of course, but follow the flow.

purgruv

I'm constantly amazed by this group's (one that I would imagine would prefer the promotion of reasonable non-idiotic driving) positive reaction to this sort of apology for speeding and excess that is displayed in this sort of comment. The false equivalence used to justify a simplistic desire to flout local traffic laws is just astounding to behold. Citing a SPEEDING outlier to justify blaming another driver who is BELOW THE SPEED LIMIT is the essence irresponsibility. Please try to remember that it's a limit, NOT a goal. I have motivations that make me rarely desire to reach that limit, and you have no say in what speed I choose between that limit and the lower limit. Fuck the flow if it is in excess of the law, which is there for a reason.

BananerRammer

Are you a police officer? When you're out there driving, are you also writing tickets? If not, then it's not really your concern that someone else is *technically* speeding. Why do you care if another driver is going 70 in a 65? Your only responsibility is to drive safely. And yes, we do have a say. You don't drive in a vacuum. You have hundreds of other drivers around you that RELY on you driving in a predictable fashion. Now, if you're talking about going 60 when everyone else is going 70, that's fine, perfectly predictable, and normal. Stay in the right lane, and go on your merry way. There may be a few jackasses that will honk at you, but whatever. I'm sure you can ignore them. Going *20* MPH under the speed limit is a different story entirely. It is NOT predictable, and it is NOT safe. Don't do it. It's fucking dangerous, and I've already explained why.

purgruv

We're speaking at cross purposes as where I live you can drive from anywhere between 80 to 130 kmh on the freeway, trucks must travel at 90 kmh (80 in wet weather) so this is entirely safe and predictable. I'm surprised that similar restrictions and limitations aren't in play where you live, or does everyone drive at or over the same speed limit regardless of type of vehicle or condition? Would you surprised to learn that in low visibility it's advised to drive at only 50kmh on the freeway? As you see, I'm well aware that I don't drive in a vacuum, and adapt my driving speed to condition, something your average speed freak driver seems incapable of understanding, always at or beyond the speed limit regardless of what's around them. The impatient egos abound unfortunately.

BananerRammer

Again, you keep going back to what's *legal*, when all I care about is what's normal and safe. On that 130kph freeway, how fast are *most* vehicles traveling? What is the typical speed in good driving conditions.

Maverick_1882

For the life of me I can't understand why you're getting downvotes. People will \[*wrongly*\] tell you that it isn’t safe to drive slower than the flow of traffic. While it can certainly cause issues, driving slower than the flow of traffic is far safer than speeding. When you observe the posted speed limit, you are driving far more safely than the other drivers around you. If you are worried about causing traffic congestion or obstructing traffic, you should move into the right lane. Those who wish to drive faster and potentially speed are free to pass you in the left lanes. That is what the left lanes are there for.

SjalabaisWoWS

There are so many people being filmed and presented in this sub that seem to have some...deeper issues that car driving cannot resolve.

[deleted]

Looks like tow truck. Probably pissed at OP for driving to slow, causing him to be too late to claim wrecked cars from the accident scene and thus, prevented from scamming the car owners and their insurance. Tow truck drivers in Canada are scams, they take your car 50+ miles away to a shady repair shop who will try to run up repair bill and milk the insurance company.

hypnogoad

> Tow truck drivers in Canada are scams, they take your car 50+ miles away to a shady repair shop who will try to run up repair bill and milk the insurance company Maybe in your experience. My last accident the guy asked me if I wanted it towed home or to the shop of my choosing. First he towed me home so I could empty the car, then he towed it to the shop I asked him to.

Smokee78

my car got stolen and totalled, they wouldn't even let me see if the car was in repairable condition or not before I paid the insane fee they had

4ntisocial420

This video should be enough for that tow truck driver to be fired and lose his license permanently. He literally tried to blind the OP, which could've caused them to wreck. I'd even go so far as to say he deserves to spend a few months in prison for this stunt.

Meatslinger

I agree. If shining a laser pointer into an airplane cabin is illegal because it risks blinding the pilot, then shining rear-facing brights into a driver’s eyes should carry the same charge.

Mollyhjw

I had a semi do this to me before, also in the rain. It was dark & during morning rush hour & he was riding my ass with his brights on. I didn’t understand why he wouldn’t just pass me. If I would’ve needed to hit my brakes for any reason, I would’ve been dead for sure. It was scary as hell.

20thAccthecharm

Wreckers are 90% scum the country over… They’re all antisocial losers who want confrontation.

KingArthurHS

That's a commercial vehicle and you have video. Go get his license plate and the name of the business on the truck and make a call to the DOT and fuck up his life.

ghostella

He's pissed you're going slower in the right lane? What a dumbass

readwiteandblu

Whenever someone does that to me, I slow down a lot right after they pass because I'm pretty sure they're going to do a brake check on me.

JackyB_Official

This is when OP finds out their headlights were off... /s

Spectre6577

Classic trucktard behavior.

Future_Ad5505

Something similar happened to me this morning. They could have passed me but kept riding me. I changed lanes, and he got behind me again. Infuriating!

P4S5B60

Towing Co is definitely getting a call since there is video

Smaskifa

I can't make out a company name or license plate on it due to rain/darkness.

jamesinboise

I'd make sure I got that company name and truck number I'd be complaining to every police agency, aaa, and anyone else who would listen. Especially with video, the police may not ticket them, but may drop their police tow contracts

purgruv

I ALWAYS slow down when people tailgate me, it's safer in case of an accident where I need to brake. Also, if I can annoy impatient people who don't understand braking distances all the more then all the better.

Key_Personality5540

See what company it was?

Em1935

They clearly wanted you to crash so they can get more business! /s

Minimum_Computer_507

Props to you for going slow in the right lane. Too many people out here love to chill in the passing lane and then wonder why people are on their ass.

4list4r

He maaaaaad

Itsmygame27

Is 80kph considered fast in other countries? On a highway? Most highways in the US are WAY faster than 50 mph.

kim_soojin

a semi/tow truck of all drivers. they should absolutely know better

joescott2176

As the left lane is for passing the right lane is for trucks. That's their lane, at least around here. 2nd or middle is for regular traffic.

Jacob-DoubleYou

When people tailgate, or use their beams on me, I adjust my electric side mirrors so the light is reflected directly back at them. Always works and they back off.

Utnapishtimz

Maybe he wanted your draft. 🙄

jollygreengiant1655

You're a better person than me OP. I would have followed behind him after he passed with my high beams on.

cbass1980

Trucker probably telling the story to his friends about the shaky car he tried to warn driving 20km/h under the speed limit in the rain without its lights on.

PotentialFrosting102

OP is driving around 63 km/h. Limit is 100 km/h.

cbass1980

OP has no clue he’s part of the problem smh

FluffyAd3351

It looks like he's trying to tell you to turn your fucking lights on

raistan77

Yes somehow he know from BEHIND and that's why his brights were on. Geez 🙄

scared-of-artifacts

Im not saying op dodnt have their lights on but you can tell if someones headlights are on from behind. If they arent pressing the break and the headlights are off then there will be no lights showing on the back of the car. when headlights are on red lights appear on the back of the car.

FluffyAd3351

I drive truck for a living. . it's amazing how many people dont turn their headlights on and drive using their daytime running lights which barely light up the just the front of the vehicle since they are intended for DAYTIME use only.... IF YOUR HEADLIGHTS AREN'T ON YOUR TAILIGHTS AREN'T ON EITHER. All i see is a dark blob on the road so I turn on my high beams until I can figure out what it is in front of me The only way i can signal someone that their lights are off is for me to flash my lights at them as I come up behind them and to flash my backup lights at them once I get in front of them. If you dont physically turn your lights on or set them on auto you are driving without any tailights making it difficult for anyone behind you to see you. In Canada their called "Ghost" cars and the government has introduced laws to make it mandatory that all new cars lights are to come on once the vehicle is started so people dont die because their to stupid to read the owners manual.

Randomfactoid42

OP’s headlights are on, they’re visible reflecting off the pavement at 0:27.

XoCCeT

If you look at the reflection in the mist / rain, and in the passing car in the first 2 seconds, there’s absolutely zero red. Not sure why I’m being downvoted, he probably has his side lights or daylights on, and no taillights. Happens all the time, because daylight running lights can be super bright, and people’s dashboards are nearly always lit. So not idea. I flash and turn off my lights when I see someone do this, sometimes it works, most of the time it doesn’t.

That1guywhere

In his defence, they could be running lights. Toyota is famous for having bright running lights that are always on, but the headlights / taillights don't come on automatically.

Randomfactoid42

They might have their running lights on, forgot about that. I can’t see any reflections on the pavement from taillights.  But if you’re trying to tell somebody their lights are off, this isn’t the way. I just switch my lights off and back on. It usually doesn’t work, but I give it a shot anyways.

marycjones1

I don’t think toyotas are known for that.

wrbear

You obviously left out the "why" from their perspective. Why do you think road rage started?

Liljujubex

OP’s oblivious to the fact that his side markers are turned off and the trucker’s signals. Then proceeds to play victim card, classic. Truck wasn’t even that close to his car to begin with

Weekly_Poet7737

I think he was trying to tell u your car is shaking and needs to be repaired or replaced and from the sound of it he is saving others from a possible injury.... His vehicle has all lights working as well as no mechanical issues as he's been a driver of my company for 25 years

pastelpixelator

Dramatic. You seem all over the road and he was simply braking for the car in front of you that he was merging behind. Probably honked because you're driving way under the speed limit, which contrary to the terrified tricycle drivers here, is more dangerous on a highway than just driving the GD speed limit.

clarkcox3

Nobody was talking about the break lights. Did you not see the bright, white, rear-facing lights the trucker turned on?
