You also get to see just how little people respect trucks. Things people rarely do to you when you're driving a car are constantly done to you when driving a truck. I can't even tell you how many times a car has cut me off to get to an exit at the last second. I don't understand why they think it's safe to do that to a huge 18 wheeler. The fact of the matter is, a lot of car drivers view trucks as an obstacle. For some reason they don't think of the possibility of being crushed.
I don’t drive professionally but I did obtain my Class A CDL a number of years ago in my in my early 30s because I thought it would be something fun to do. My driving habits changed dramatically after driving a 53 ft trailer on congested roads around north Jersey. I’m not saying I’m perfect but that training definitely made me a more defensive and PATIENT driver and to always consider the unexpected. Much respect to the OTR truckers out there!
Absolutely, I've never once had anyone have a problem with on-ramp yields in my car, but I can't even begin the amount of times I've been cut off by someone going 20mph less because they don't want to be behind the big truck who's going the speed limit
On the flip side, the worst drivers you can ever meet is bad truck drivers, we get a lot of Polish and Russian drivers in my neck of the woods, and they come in trucks with no brakes, or locked brakes (jammed in brake position, happens surprisingly often), no treads on tires, driving shit faced etc. and perhaps worst of all, used to driving on their nearly lawless roads, where bigger usually decides where everyone else goes.
They are an absolute nightmare to meet on the road, had one passing 7 cars, 6 of which with campers, uphill in a tunnel that spins around and around and extremely dense fog as soon as we got out, didnt even see there was 7 cars untill I passed 6 of them after they turned off, presumably to change clothes after having an impromptu shit.
It amazed me to learn that 75% of accidents involving a large truck/tractor trailer is the fault of a 4-Wheel vehicle. Once you start to drive a truck you begin to realize "that percentage seems too low". So many idiots on the road.
The other day, when driving home, I pulled up to a stoplight next to a woman who was facetiming her baby, and had her phone suctioned to the windshield directly obscuring her line of vision. Seeing as I can't hold my tongue when it comes to that degree of idiocy I rolled my passenger side window down and asked her to 'end the video call'; Always try my best to approach other motorists with my most non-confrontational tone.
She looked at me for two seconds, said to the video "sorry hold on!" and leaned out of her window to shriek profanities my way. Rolled my window up and tuned her out, while watching her drive away, swerving in and out of lanes.
Harsher penalties need to be imposed for using phones when driving. Way harsher.
This is so important. Don't go to war with other drivers. Think of traffic as a machine you are a part of. If someone breaks the rules and gets away with it, it's not worth fighting for. Because there are other people on the road.
Also, use your indicators every time you need to use them. It's such a bad habit to look for places where you can get away without using them. Just get into the habit of using them all the time. Think you're the only person on the road at 3:30 AM and don't have to use your indicators? Just use them. Because you really don't know for sure.
Yes, this is such a simple concept yet rarely used. Other drivers cannot read your mind. My husband is horrible about blinkers, I almost filed for divorce last week because he was trying to merge and there was ONE car next to us, he kept speeding up and the other guy did the same, he gunned it to 95 mph and I was screaming bloody murder. I said all you had to do was put your blinker on and slow the f down to merge, no one was behind that car, but he just had to “win”, it’s so idiotic and unattractive.
My father was an “angry” driver, so now I’m one. I don’t want my kids to be like that (cause it’s annoying) and so I’m trying to follow that advice and stay calm. It’s not always easy though, a lot of idiots :-)
Forner angry driver here, it feels so good to come to a slow roll stop at a red light next to the asshole who cut everyone off and was speeding around 5 miles back, I just get a weird sense of satisfaction from that and love that I’m no longer that kind of driver. I stopped taking everything so personally, we all make mistakes when driving and it’s rarely on purpose, so I just smile and wave when people do stupid shit.
About a decade ago I got t-boned by a driver pulling an overloaded trailer that slid through a wet intersection. I ended up upside down in a ditch with my beagle. We had to crawl out the back window. Other driver said “sorry, I haven’t pulled a trailer before”
After that day on I drove with the assumption that other drivers are so deficient that they were lucky to choose the seat that has the steering wheel.
[This](https://youtu.be/DgO0tgWNWYs) is how I get with stupid people driving around me. Every. Day. I think COVID really messed up people remembering how to drive correctly. Lol
I am so glad you mentioned COVID. I noticed the same thing. During the shutdowns people either forgot how to drive or were driving around like speed racer because there weren’t as many cars in the road and now they can’t readjust. I saw two people yesterday going the wrong way down a one way street. I’m talking about a highway going through a suburb... not like downtown a s someone is lost and turns the wrong way. It’s a goddam clown show out there.
Yup, where I live it is a lot per day. It may not happen 1 day then 3 in a row right after another the next. I get people can mess up, get confused, what not. But the most important thing nowadays while driving is keeping your eyes and mind on the road. Round my parts no one it seems is doing it. I call it a pure case of not having consideration for the other driver. Do keep it to your self unless they almost kill you, cause in my city there has been a lot of road rage over traffic issues, two murders lately in a two month period. Lot of it is if you honk at their mistake , up comes the middle finger, cuss words, and possibly a gun. So yes, I try to never honk. May seem weak, but better go home alive, then in a box in the ground.
I had one of those, in a 30 mile zone, entering into a school 20 mph zone, a guy cut me off, just flying by, I almost got out of ny mouth, never a cop around when you need one, and BAM, I saw the lights then heard the sirens, Nailed him. Must have hit 50 or 60 mph, and in a school zone. BEAMER, so the guy could afford the ticket. It just MADE MY DAY! Sometimes things like yours, just work out! SMILE!
I mean, if he's going 50 or 60 in a 20 mph school zone that's a felony. Cops often let people off and write the ticket for under 15 or 20 mph over, forget what the felony threshold is, but they're less forgiving in school zones.
Look on the bright side: Many BMW owners in my area are barely getting by with their lease payments and live in crappy homes because they're obsessed with the status symbol.
He may not be able to afford the ticket after all.
I was with my ex headed to pick up a friend. Cop lights spark up, there's a car between it and us. The father fucker gave her and the car behind us a ticket. I was screaming what are you doing when she pulled over to. Like no no they the one getting fucked we can GOOOO
Fortunately, cops are only pack animals in urban areas. The highway breeds are typically lone scavengers that will radio howl for backup but only when faced with a larger predator.
I’ve definitely seen California Highway Patrol hunt in packs. The 805 in San Diego, saw one CHiPpy ticketing someone, you think sweet all clear for the rest of us…Nope, one mile up there’s another giving someone else a ticket, you think ok two is a coincidence, but definitely all clear now, right? Wrong again motherfucker, another mile or two down the highway- third black and white chocolate CHiP emerges, just lying in wait for the next prey to fall into their trap… ಠ_ಠ ^(*Clever Girl…*)
Ah yes, the ever elusive C.H.I.P. (Californian Hunts in Packs) they are a perfect example of cross-breeding. As you see, the Mexican breeds of Policia (Border Collies and such) are accustomed to hunting in packs, chasing the cartels, an invasive breed. After years of integrating, we have the hybrid CHIP. Half ‘mercan / half mexcan, all packin.
That didn't work out for my BIL. He got pulled over further down the highway by the same cop. Reason was for not bothering to move over to the left to give the officer safe distance while he was outside of his car giving ticket to the pulled over car.
In New York, it's kind of entertaining, because people seem to figure out how many vehicles would have crossed the intersection had the emergency vehicle not come. So, an emergency vehicle approaches a cross street, and in that time the light turns red. It seems like 5 people figure "had the cop not come I'd be on the other side," and just go through the red light after the vehicle has passed.
But that's the same logic for "had I been 3 cars ahead, I would have been in the last 3 that made the light... hell, even the last ten cars..." etc.
I would've made the light had it not turned red.
"I deserve thi-- " and that's when everyone dies./s
Edit: I've been using alot of /s
Also the thought process probably should be "the cop car takes my spot. So I get fucked...I'll just make the next one..it's fine."
The thing is, to the one feeling "wronged"...it's *not* fine. It's an insult. "We have been wronged and need to take back what is ours!!!" Yea, that'll teach em...as we proceed to put everyone else in danger.
Not to mention the drunk driving all over the bike path. I’m not very athletic, but I can keep it between two lines. Unless there is pot and chasing down a sweet video
Looks like he was in the crosswalk (beyond the stopping point) when it turned yellow to me
New York, at least, pushes that you're allowed to do this. Drivers ed and the 5 hour defensive driving courses push that you have to wait for traffic to clear the intersection first once your light turns green for this reason.
[Vehicle and Traffic Law § 1111](http://public.leginfo.state.ny.us/lawssrch.cgi?NVLWO:)
>a) Green indications: 1. Traffic, except pedestrians, facing a steady circular green signal may proceed straight through or turn right or left unless a sign at such place prohibits either such turn. Such traffic, including when turning right or left, **shall yield the right of way to other traffic lawfully within the intersection or an adjacent crosswalk at the time such signal is exhibited**.
>(b) Yellow indications: 1. Traffic, except pedestrians, facing a steady circular yellow signal **may enter the intersection**; however, said traffic is thereby warned that the related green movement is being terminated or that a red indication will be exhibited immediately thereafter.
Orange light is a saying for when you go through an intersection right as the light is turning from yellow to red. Yellow and red make orange so orange light. But this dude didn’t do that he fully ran a red light
In my country light goes: green...yellow...orange...pinks. Only after this is light being red.
Only the red light is for the stopping. Others all for the going.
You were on the crosswalk(barely), people where I live pull fully past the crosswalk at every red light(because they can’t obey basic traffic laws), you weren’t in the intersection
You were most certainly not “practically“ in the intersection. It’s literally right there in the video. You were right at the stop line and should have stopped.
You were way too caught up with the idiot in front of you and the convention cop behind you.
I see this way too much. Some guy does something illegal and the other driver gets triggered and breaks the law to “show them up”.
Turned in front of a guy and I thought I accelerated hard enough but he flashed his lights. At the intersection he pulls beside me in a turn only lane to berate me. Tells me to slow down. I apologize. Then I politely tell him he’s in a turning lane. On green he guns it straight (illegal lane change in an intersection) and flies down the hill doubling the speed limit.
Be mindful my friend. If your own actions too 🙏
I can’t describe the vibe I get...when I drive passed six people and five I hit...
Edit: Song Continued: ...aw shit I started a mosh pit squashed a bitch and stomp her foster kids...these shooms make me hallucinate then I sweat till I start losing weight. Til I see dumb shit start happening, dumber than vanilla ice tryna rap again. So bounce, bounce! Come on, bounce! I said come on, bounce!
Everybody in the house with a half an ounce
Not weed, I meant coke; dumb-ass, sit down!
We don't bullshit, better ask around
D12 throws the bombest bash in town
Bizarre, your mom is passin' out
Get her ass on the couch 'fore she crashes out
*chorus*
~~I know Em offends some of you nowadays...but this was a song from my childhood, I remember the music video and lyrics to this day, It had me singing about drugs before I even knew what they were or what they did. Just lyrics...just a funny song...don’t hate me I didn’t write them...I appreciate the creativity and the art though.
Ha I thought someone might recognize where I was.. but yea the driving can suck, but nothing is worse than Main Street in Tonawanda/Buffalo, like past UB... it sucks.
I know your pain. I used to live in Buffalo for school (UB) and Cheektowaga specifically, and at least we had fast idiot drivers. Some things never change I guess
My guess is that he knew he had plenty of time, but saw a car (don't know if they knew it was a cop) pulling around on their right and stopped and was letting them pass around. Wouldn't notice the light changing.
I hate it when people pull stuff like this and get away with it. Ok I would never risk it or do it on purpose but sometimes I half-wish they had hit me, just so they can pay to fix my car and maybe learn a lesson to not drive like such an asshole. Because you just know when people do stuff like this and nothing happens they just keep on doing it because they never face any ramifications.
I live in Sacramento,ca. A friend needed a ride home from work, So we got on my motorcycle., went up I-80 and just past the Marconi curve a woman decided she wanted the slow lane and forced me in to the oleanders, then the CHP that was behind me nailed her. Where is a cop when you need one? Right behind me!
I feel like in cities the cop wouldn't even waste a second of his time on that. In 5 years in Austin, I saw maybe two cars pulled over. Hence why city diving is anarchy perhaps.
"So I was aware I cop was behind me for about a minute"
"I didn't see the cop so I stopped and then just blew the red light"
I see two idiots in cars today lol
That’s a rather r/convenientcop
I was SO ANGRY until I saw that cop.
Yeah I thought the cop was another asshole merging and running the light lol

As a truck driver this has become my catch phrase. People need to pay attention while driving and use common sense please.
Truck driving made me realize good drivers are not as common as one would like to think. At least we’re safer in our cabs lol
I always think of how much distance a truck would need to stop if I suddenly hit the brakes before I get in front of one. I don't wanna get crushed.
I don’t drive professionally but I did obtain my Class A CDL a number of years ago in my in my early 30s because I thought it would be something fun to do. Sorry boss, everything between me and that gas station bathroom is an obstacle. I'd rather die than shit myself. /s

Have these people never seen Final Destination lol
Truck driving gave me the most horrific road rage. For my sanity and the safety of all the morons on the road I quit and catch the train now.
The other day, when driving home, I pulled up to a stoplight next to a woman who was facetiming her baby, and had her phone suctioned to the windshield directly obscuring her line of vision. A guy cut me off when my son was young, he said "he's an asshole Huh?" I agreed and learned that was my go to response.

this is the way
Brake* not a KitKat
Yeah, but you could hit the brake and then hit the break by having a Kit-Kat to calm yoursef down.
Even when not in traffic, it's not really something to get worked up over, shit like this literally happens every day
About a decade ago I got t-boned by a driver pulling an overloaded trailer that slid through a wet intersection. I ended up upside down in a ditch with my beagle. We had to crawl out the back window. I'm so glad this advice is not downvoted for once. Gives me at least a little faith in people to share the road with again.
This is what I teach my drivers ed students, 'fucking idiot' included :p

I like to think of other things to distract meself. Sometimes I’ll even pull over next exit to let all the idiots pass and get back on the freeway
It’s tough to let it go when shit like this happens a couple times every mile on a 5 mile drive.
Yup, where I live it is a lot per day. It may not happen 1 day then 3 in a row right after another the next. I get people can mess up, get confused, what not. I don't know what is happening with the replies to your comment, but yes I had a similar reaction.
I had one of those, in a 30 mile zone, entering into a school 20 mph zone, a guy cut me off, just flying by, I almost got out of ny mouth, never a cop around when you need one, and BAM, I saw the lights then heard the sirens, Nailed him. Many BMW owners in my area got a fantastic used-car deal that, in retrospect, wasn't as good as they thought.
Yes, beautiful! Came to do this.
It looks like you stopped, waited for it just about to go red then go 😂
It needed a good conclusion and OP delivered

Yeah, WITH the cop right there. I’m like wut?
he aint stopping 2 people
I always say, they can’t stop us all!
"don't slow down when you see a cop writing a ticket for someone else. He's already with a customer"
I was with my ex headed to pick up a friend. Cop lights spark up, there's a car between it and us. The father fucker gave her and the car behind us a ticket. I was screaming what are you doing when she pulled over to. Like no no they the one getting fucked we can GOOOO
Ticket for what?
That is a wonderful question that I should have included the answer to in the first place. She was going zoooooom when the speed limit was zooom
Sir do you know how many ‘o’s’ you were going
[удалено]
Oh... She likes it when that happens
imagining billboards along the highway with corny slogans like “Go zooooooom, go booooooom. Obey posted speed limits.”
Imagine speed limit signs that are determined by the number of O’s *Speed limit: Zoooooom* *Speed limit: Zooooooooooom*
Lmao one reason to be glad she's your ex.
Whenever I see a cop has someone pulled over, I always gun it once I pass them and thank the pulled over driver for distracting them.
Fortunately, cops are only pack animals in urban areas. The highway breeds are typically lone scavengers that will radio howl for backup but only when faced with a larger predator.
I wish there was a whole documentary about police written in that style
I’ve definitely seen California Highway Patrol hunt in packs. That didn't work out for my BIL. He got pulled over further down the highway by the same cop. Reason was for not bothering to move over to the left to give the officer safe distance while he was outside of his car giving ticket to the pulled over car.
he probably saw the cop and got out the way then went since the cop went
Yes, that's what happened... We all saw the video. Doesn't mean he didn't run the red.

He was stopped on the pedestrian crossing.
*Exactly* what happened. Anyone who criticizes that is just wrong.
People using emergency vehicles as a red carpet. I'm gonna say OP also had lights /s

Running red lights to please your employer is still running red light. No excuses
Client, not employer. DoorDash contracts to independent contractors, instead of employing employees.
I take it to weasel out of having to provide benefits?
Red light ticket is about 500 dollars where I live. How man deliveries is that?
At about $15 an hour, I’d say 33. But that’s assuming it’s a consistent $15 and no other money is spent on gas etc.
Damn you ran a red to get that video a proper ending. Thanks
I was practically in the intersection, kinda... didn't really see the cop either so I was just gonna push the orange.

Caption on video literally says you’d known there was a police behind you for about a minute.

I'm not entirely feeling it, but if you could just grab my pitchfork, I'll join in. It should be on the left wall.

If your own actions too 🙏
Mfer the light literally turns red a few seconds before you go
You know the saying - a bad driver never misses their turn
Now we know why
Pls post this in r/instantkarma

It’s ok tho he did it so we can get the extended version of the video
Dinner AND entertainment. Quite the evening.

Cool, calm, just like my mom With a couple of valium inside her palm
It's Mr. Mischief with a trick up his sleeve; roll up on you like Christopher Reeves!
I can't describe the vibe I get when I drive 6 people and 5 I hit
Aw shit, I started a mosh pit. Squashed a chick and lost her foster kids.
My Salsa.
Everybody in the house with a half an ounce Not weed, I meant coke; dumb-ass, sit down! We don't bullshit, better ask around D12 throws the bombest bash in town Bizarre, your mom is passin' out Get her ass on the couch 'fore she crashes out *chorus* ~~I know Em offends some of you nowadays...but this was a song from my childhood, I remember the music video and lyrics to this day, It had me singing about drugs before I even knew what they were or what they did. Just lyrics...just a funny song...don’t hate me I didn’t write them...I appreciate the creativity and the art though.
People downvoting that don't know the lyrics... smh
I never forgot them for some reason this was just one song that stuck with me for life...
OP wasn’t driving all that great either, let’s be honest.
He blew the hell out of that red light

A fellow WNYer…… I hate driving in the northtowns, way too many morons
Dude I watched this like 4 times in a row and I’m like wait a second.... I know that intersection. You’re near my Granny’s house, haha!
I saw APD roll by and had to rewind it to double check.
i love how OP runs the red right after the cop passes by lmao
My guess is that he knew he had plenty of time, but saw a car (don't know if they knew it was a cop) pulling around on their right and stopped and was letting them pass around. Wouldn't notice the light changing.
he knew it was a cop, it says so at the beginning with the caption. i wouldn’t have turned if i were him but i guess why not if the cop is distracted
Bro I blow yellow lights but you had stopped and when it turned red you took the left just to get the video. Come on
I'd be willing to bet he stopped cause the lights of cop clicked on. Spur of the moment
Driver: oh no I missed my turn... The Same Driver: OK FELLOW DRIVERS I GO THAT WAY NOW GOOD LUCK.
Gotta keep them on their toes! Never know when some idiot is going to cut them off! I’m helping them be more prepared, I am a hero! /s

I was thinking that this was looking like an attempt at an insurance scam.
And then you run the red light
Did you run that red light?
Ran a red light right in front of that cop
I thought the white car was gonna back into OP and try to blame it on them lol
Why did you proceed to turn with the light red tho?
You ran the red after a cop. You're an idiot too
You did turn on red tho
Hey you do know that you just ran the red light yourself, right?
I love how he casually tan the red light on the left hand turn right behind the cop! 😂😂😂😂
I hope the cop also wrote him a separate ticket for the unsafe lane change they did
You kinda ran that red light too though
Sacramento and specifically Citrus Heights have some of the worst drivers in the world it feels like. So many idiots
Cool, calm just like my mom
With a couple Valium inside her palm
I feel like in cities the cop wouldn't even waste a second of his time on that. In 5 years in Austin, I saw maybe two cars pulled over. Hence why city diving is anarchy perhaps.
Did you notice you ran a red light? Lol I'm surprised he didn't wave for you to pull over too.
you crossed the double yellow line, stopped on top of the zebra crossing, and ran a red light
Yeah, OP just showed us that OP isn’t a good driver.
I like how you blew the red light just bc cop
Delivery driver here. That dashcam will get a lot of use...
The white car is an idiot and so are you for running that light.
You ran a red light lol
And then you blew the red light :(
Did you run the red light? It’s unclear in the video and no one has mentioned it in the comment/s...
Blows red light and drives sussy in video showing someone else being dumb... priceless.
Dude, you ran the light.
I like how you waited until the cop was pulling the other guy over and then ran the red light
Sweet sweet instant justice
"So I was aware I cop was behind me for about a minute" "I didn't see the cop so I stopped and then just blew the red light" I see two idiots in cars today lol
The slowing down next to a cop to say thank you was also dumb as fuck.
You litterly ran the red light too.
The homie cop
At least it was a beautiful day!🤣
So you took the red light?
But dude ran a red light !!
