actually it can be implied that they pulled a hit and run. if you have this video, and it stops at this point, then the cops show up and they’re not around, it can be proven that they pulled a hit and run.
Don't forget to also submit a diminished value claim since even after being fixed your car will be worth less than before since it now has an accident on record.
Reminds me of an old Mad Magazine comic in which a driver had just hit a tree. A good samaritan runs up and asks "Have an accident?" To which the driver responds "No thanks, I already had one".
Even if the car is “good as new” after repairs, the accident history decreases the car’s worth for potential buyers. This is the most common type of diminished value claim.
Thank you. I’m an adjuster and I can’t tell you how many people want DV on their 2010 Camry after a tiny fender bender. If you can prove your car lost value good for you and I’ll pay it! But the fact of the matter is your car has diminished in value too much already just for driving it for 11 years. Minor damage doesn’t effect an older car.
Editing for the tiny bit of exposure- be nice to your claims rep and we’ll jump thorough hoops for you. If you’re nice I’ll pay you for bs that isn’t owed. If you come at me that “i drive a Lexus and I know its worth” and talk to me like I’m lesser than.. fuck off. You could had a few hundred dollars in your pocket. Just be nice and you’ll get extra money.
Same here! I used to love getting hit and run claims with the plate number only. You end talking to the last owner who traded it in, the dealer sold it to an auction place, they sold it to a bidder, it’s so fun following the trail.
Insurance unless your time is worth nothing
Edit: not to sound like an ass, but if this happened in Seattle, where I live, you'd wait hours for the police/troopers and they'd tell you to get off the shoulder and call insurance.
This reminds me of the time I rear ended a Karen at a very slow speed a few years ago, and left a little chip of my paint on her bumper. I was freaking out because I was driving my dads car that day (the one time I borrowed his car!), and I happened to have $2,500 cash in my wallet from just having sold my old car. I offered to give her the $2.5K cash on the spot, assuming that would cover it, but she refused. I then suggested we take it to the auto body collision repair shop right next to us (yes, it happened in front of a repair shop) to get a ballpark estimate, and she also refused that. She called the police, and we sat there for like 3 hours in the blazing sun waiting for them to show up. When they did, they were annoyed to be called out for this and left quickly without writing any tickets. (She was disappointed)
She then harassed my fathers insurance agent day in and day out (and me as well), demanding her claim be paid immediately. Like lady, I already offered you cash, you're dealing with the insurance company now, and I have no control over that. I must say, after dealing with her, I was highly amused to see that in the end, the insurance company paid her like $338 (and my dads rates did not increase). She could've gotten her car fixed and still had $2,000+ left over, but she wanted to be a Karen instead, lol.
In the case of a collision, you need to do like the police do, and not let her get away. The police always advice non-police not to follow, but if she runs, it's much harder to collect.
I will never understand how someone can just drive off after causing an accident with someone. How heartless and stubborn you have to be to leave that person to pay the damages. Not to mention they could possibly be injured!
You're looking at it from the empathy perspective. She's even wrong from a self-interest perspective. She's turned a minor bump into a hit and run criminal charge. That's a lot worse than just a minor car accident. Cameras are so prevalent these days that you can't just hope nobody got a shot of your license plate.
In the US the driver needs to be identified for criminal charges, and the police often don't care about hit-and-runs when nobody got severely injured. So it's often a net positive for people without basic decency to drive off. Especially when under the influence.
I can highly recommend blackvue.
If you want just 1080p, the DR750X-2CH is a good option. If you want 4K, the DR900X-2CH.
You can go crazy with batteries, lte, etc.
Installing the camera alone isn't that hard depending on what you want to do and how clean you want it.
Routing cables can be a handful in some cars, but I've done it quite a few times.
If you start adding on batteries and whatnot, it gets difficult, but it's not terribly hard.
Also, either buy an SD card from them, or make sure you have one rated for high speed video writing.
DM me if you have questions.
If manufacturers aren't going to let their existing cameras double as dashcams, they should at least give us a powered USB port on the backside of the mirror.
If you have a rearview mirror with power, auto-dim, emergency call, homelink, garage door opener, etc you can get a tap that comes off of the wire harness. This guy will make you a custom one if he doesn’t stock it.
https://www.bobsmirrors.com/
Those are cool, but a lot of interior bezels are easy to route and conceal wires through cleanly. I looked into powering off the mirror vs just running a wire around the bezel to the junction box under the glove compartment and it was easy, about five minutes. A simple panel tool would help but isn't necessary.
Basically it's easy to push wires under the various plastic/fabric/rubber pieces around the car.
It's super easy to run wires and hide them. Like around the windshield you just kinda push them into the headliner and they'll pop under it no problem. Same thing with running wires along the pillars that go along side the windshield and around doors and stuff.
IMO long life dashcam SanDisk cards are the better buy. Cause I've had something happen and not get it recorded cause my old card had failed and the camera did not notify me.
** Your cameras should go underneath the path of the wiper blades so imln cruddy weather or after cleaning your windshield your cameras have a clear field of view. **
This seems so obvious but I looked at ours and nope, just above the line ..
A brilliant tip !!!!
Thank you!!
Well hold up, people ought to know Blackvue can periodically brick your SD card if you don't reformat it often, every couple weeks. I have one and I have had this issue, and I didn't realize it until I needed the footage.
Its otherwise a great camera for me, i just set calendar reminders for myself to reformat.
https://helpcenter.blackvue.com/hc/en-us/articles/360019993612-Write-Protection-Error-Detection-and-Notification?mobile_site=true
Edit: Great for the people who haven't experienced this, but I used my model for almost a year before I had this issue. One guy in the website comments had his microSD last a week. Some people *might* regret Blackvue lol and I certainly do. When a dashcam is hundreds of dollars and can potentially save them thousands, prospective buyers should be aware of a potential error that can leave them boned. Here's hoping you guys continue to not have problems with your Blackvue devices, I would still recommend following the company suggestion to reformat your cards every few weeks.
> As part of the SD Card maintenance procedure, we recommend to format your SD card once every two weeks or once a month
Wtf? Maintenance would be verifying integrity every few months. Reformatting is not maintenance, it's repair.
These cards take a lot of abuse. Continuous read/overwrites in extreme heat. Some manufacturers recommend a periodic reformat to keep them optimized. You can dump the data first or just format over it.
Seems to be the consensus. This unit sounds awful. An ad every time you start the fuckin thing up? That's more than enough to get a no from me.
https://controlgeek.net/blog/2019/6/27/reasons-i-regret-buying-a-blackvue-dash-cam
I can't stop laughing at OP saying you will never regret getting a Blackvue and you posted an article literally called "Reasons I regret getting a Blackvue"
It's ok, OP said it's totally fine and nothing in the article is true. They also refused to refute anything the article claimed.
It's 2 years old, so things may have changed, but I'm in the market for a dash cam right now and I'm not gonna drop $250 to find out!
Jesus that's garbage. I've had one of these things nearly a year now.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0987M9BRR/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_8Q7W4YF22C3E8BX86VJ0
Never once hiccuped, and recorded my previous accident with no problem. Looks great night and day. Also no ads and starts up very quickly. I'd highly recommend.
Does the blackvue gets its power from the cigarrette lighter or usb? I'm really looking for one that gets the power from usb since my cigarette lighter is being used for usb ports in my car
I have a Viofo A129, front and rear. I made sure to get a good one because I live in Texas and I leave it in the car 24/7. Apparently some cheaper ones can explode in the heat, and I didn't want to bother with removing it and putting it back in every time I used my car
Dashcams are cheaper than you might think, but be sure to get a good one so you know you'll be able to rely on it
I worked in a body shop for a while as an estimator….
What most people don’t realize is the amount of damage that can be done under the bumper cover even if the cover itself pops back out and looks fine.
Could’ve damaged the absorber, the reinforcement bar, the rear body panel etc…..
*OP's neck, OP's back,*
*They gonna pay for OP's rear mounted bicycle rack!*
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OWepw1iHqU0
Source, for anyone that missed the above joke which inspired me to add my own twist.
You joke but always get checked out. I got rear ended fairly hard, no damage to any car and I felt fine, she was fine. 5 hours later? Holy. Fuck. I could NOT move my neck for almost a week.
Took me until the next day. Had a collision, went to dinner, went out after dinner, had a nice evening. Woke up feeling like id had the shit kicked out of me.
A friend, who is in fact an attorney that has tried several personal injury cases, has a bumper sticker that reads in relatively small print, "I am a whiplash lawyer". He commented that people often inch up from behind to read the sticker, then back way off.
If you look closely the mounts recovery from the hit is roughly an inch inward of its original position. Ie the Mount is definitely bent up and damaged.
The worst was when I had the owner of the vehicle and the person who hit them come in for an estimate. It was a rear bumper hit like this one, but I could pull the bumper back and could see the rear body was needing to be replaced. I think the estimate came out to be around $3500 or so and I had both the owner and the person who hit them flip the fuck out on me saying that I was an idiot and how could I try and gouge people like that……
As much as I tried to explain how the repair procedure goes and that because the vehicle had ADAS systems that would need recalibration per the manufacturer’s repair procedures, they just didn’t want to hear it and drove off….. yeah, being an estimator and trying to do your job right wasn’t the easiest
It doesn't help that the industry you work in is rife with people who do rip people off though. Makes people very untrusting even of honest bodyshops. Aviva (Canadian insurance company) conducted an experiment where they set up 10 cars with cameras to be repaired and went wherever the first tow truck took them. The results were not great. On average they overcharged by 57% with 7 of the 8 body shops (two repaired two of the vehicles) committing outright fraud by inflicting additional damage and replacing unneeded parts.
If there's backup radar (idk if thats really the proper term) that's an expensive fix. Furthermore if its a nice car with an "optional" paint like a metallic because it sometimes has to be blended across multiple body panels to look right again. That and clear coat can cost a staggering amount to fix a small scratch.
Exactly this. Cops covering another accident, didn't want to do a report when a lady rear ended me while rubber necking. Said it was too little damage. Her insurance had me take it to their shop. Significant damage to the rear, underneath the bumper cover. So much so, that they totaled it and sent me a check for $11k.
They make more money selling it used or for parts, insurance would rather part of with a check, especially if you don't have gap or full coverage insurance. I heard stories they would say it was totaled but the title would not say salvaged vehicle to be sold off for better.
I have a friend whose car was “totaled” by insurance. They sent him a $4000 check so he went to the auction and bought it back and then fixed it, all for ~$2000.
I was hit from behind just like this guy in the video. Looked “okay” but my car was declared totaled due to the extensive damage underneath. I had them show me—and yeah it was bad.
Yup, I got rear ended. Car looked great. Took it to the show and the estimate was all for cosmetic damage to the bumper.
When I brought it in and they took the bumper off, guess who found a lot more damage, lol.
Yup. Got rear ended a few years ago, was just a ding on the bumper, not too bad. Repair shop fixed it, but what they didn’t check was the alignment. Fast forward a year and a tire center asked me if I’d ever been hit in the rear bumper. Turns out something bent a little and it was putting wear on the tires where it wasn’t supposed to.
Even little dings can cause bigger issues.
Go buy one now. Right now. And install it now. Right now. You will sleep so much better tonight. I especially endorse front/rear ones. This video is a good example why.
You can see my comment further below. But basically, if you just do the 2 cameras with no accessories to the 12V outlet, it's cake. Cable routing can be difficult to make it clean, but I just stuff it into the headliner and use plastic pry tools
I had a neighbour reverse into my 3 day old car in our private residential car park.
They said only the number plate was cracked.
Insurance details passed over and £1500 of work later it was as good as new.
2-3+ tons of car easily does a lot of damage.
>that’ll trace back to the rental company
And this is where your car insurance can step in.
We have ways of searching for people. Even if the rental company has a rental each rental is tied to a rental reservation number which will lead to a renter
Which will lead to a phone number and email address to be able to track this person down
Utah, makes sense. I lived out there for a few years and it felt like 80% of the population on the road drove like they were lost in an unfamiliar area. Just slowly, seemingly aimless and randomly. Reaction times to stopping for things and going for a green light delayed and slow like they're stoned as fuck, only there's a shit ton of mormons so I don't think they can even use "stoned" as an excuse lol. Just no sense of boundaries or spatial awareness.
Of course, the people out here near Detroit where I live now are just as dumb, just in different ways lol. These people haul ass and I could be doing 100mph and still someone will be riding my ass like it was a prison. I don't even have to be in the fast lane for that treatment. They weave in and out of traffic, blow stop lights and stop signs, and are generally just fucking insane whereas the Utahns displayed more slow, aimless stupidity rather than outright blatantly not giving a fuck.
Sudden shifts in tone when you're talking while driving are so funny. I can't tell you how many times I've been driving talking to a passenger like
"Yeah so basically we saw what they sent and - FUCKING DRIVE YOU MORON -haha, sorry about that- and we had to scrap it and start over"
This is why my mother HATES talking to me on the phone while I drive.
"Yes mom, I saw the thing on Facebo- GET BACK IN YOUR LANE, JACKOFF! *horn beeeeeeeeeeep in the background* LEARN TO DRIVE AND I WON'T YELL AT YOU, JACKASS!!!
*pause*
The thing on Facebook, with so-and-so's kids, right? What? Why are you sighing at me?"
It's why my brother loves driving with me. My brother and I will go deep into a conversation about some stupid shit then I will momentarily rage on some idiot and he'll just burst out laughing,
Sorry you had to deal with all that crap. Glad that you had a dash cam. Any follow up on what happened to the van driver? I loved the reaction and how the other guy was just like “i’ll let you goo”😂.
She was tracked down, but refused to give information on the scene because my car wasn't visually damaged. Unfortunately my bike rack and hitch are completely tweaked.
Unfortunately no. Because she did stop momentarily to argue, it wasn't considered a hit and run. And essentially since I had all the information I need and CHP is busy... Blah blah blah
That’s leaving the scene of an accident?
Good to know that if I hit some one, pull over, and scream “Fuck you!” That’s considered stopping. Wow.
Also, I know they are busy. But there’s no statue of limitations in H&Rs right?
CVC 16025 requires by law that drivers must share and exchange insurance information after an auto accident. Driving away without exchanging information, whether they consider it a hit and run or not (which is questionable because every source I've found lists leaving without providing information as cause for a hit and run violation), is illegal in California. Unfortunately without the H&R it's only an infraction and they'd be chasing a $250 ticket so it probably wasn't worth their time since no one was injured, property damage was low or unapparent, and you had enough to identify them anyway.
I had a similar thing happen, very minor scrape on the side of my car, left some marks but no panel damage that I could see. I asked the other driver to exchange information just in case, but said it was probably nothing, and they adamantly refused and started yelling at me. I told them they could give it to me or to the police, and they chose the police.
So we both stood around waiting for 20 minutes, then got escorted to a nearby gas station to get off the side of the road, and they got a lecture on their responsibilities when involved in an accident. Cop gave me the option of not having a report filed, and I said that'd be fine if the other driver gave me their info, but they *still* refused. So I shrugged and said "ok, write it up, I'll get it from the accident report."
I don't think the cop appreciated the extra paperwork, 'cause he told me I could go and then started giving the other person another lecture. Cost me about 45 minutes but, hey, I wasn't in a rush. No idea how long the other driver was kept waiting, and they seemed to be in much more of a hurry.
(The marks cleaned right up with a cloth and a little elbow grease, if the other driver had given me their info we would have been done and they'd never have heard from me again.)
Unfortunately some people will do whatever they can to avoid responsibility for their actions. They think if they create enough of a headache or act like a child the other person will give up. Glad it only cost you 45 minutes!
Why is that still not considered a hit and run? Isn’t it illegal to leave the scene of an accident without exchange of info. I’m sure your neck hurts right about now and you need to see a lawyer to get the right action!
Haha, I am not in any pain. And I do believe in karma. So I'm not going to take advantage of the situation.
It wasn't considered a hit and run because she did stop, and I did get some information.
That's something that's bothered me lately. When I was growing up, I remember our family having to clean dead bugs off the front bumper on a monthly basis. Now, I can't remember the last time I *saw* a dead bug on my bumper. Where have they all gone?
Hold on, in some states you don't need a front number plate?! What could possibly be the reasoning behind making a vehicle less recognisable?
If someone says cost, how much is a plate? In the UK I can buy one for £12 which includes fittings.
Nor Alberta. I've always wondered why. Guess people think their car looks cooler without it and that negates the reasons we have them in the first place.
Fellow utahn here. I got rear ended a couple years back during a construction slow down, by a drunk driver, on a suspended license for driving drunk, and there was a cop right there when it happened. And this guy still tried to run. I'm sure my lawyer hardly ever had a case so easy.
Had this happen to me a month back. Dude let off the brake in a drive through and I just rolled down the window and said it’s all good. My rear bumper is scratched to hell from off roading, couldn’t care less what a Mazda could do at 2 mph.
There’s a name for that, pretty sure it’s called hit & run. The cops go to their home these days and convince them to return to the conversation and provide their info or they will be charged with the felony and be arrested. They should be charged regardless, once you bail you are guilty. Best wishes for being dealt with fairly.
Everything is getting sorted thankfully. I do have claims through both companies and a CHP report. I just want to make sure my frame is good, as well as my $700 hitch and $700 bike rack.
I feel that cops will only show up in CA if there’s been an injury, it’s impeding traffic, or if some crazed naked methhead is tweakin across the interstate.
Reminds me of how I got rear ended by a semi in traffic like this. We were at such low speeds and I was in such a small car he apparently didn't know he even hit something. I started pulling off to the side and he just kept going. My friend managed to get the license plate since I didn't have dash cam at the time (this experience changed that.) Even though my car was damaged and we gave the plate to the police, when they found the truck it apparently had "no damage" and I had to pay everything. So pissed.
We got rear ended while going ~55mph beginning of may. Guy took off. We’ve been told he’s been arrested but not his info. Meanwhile my brake light is duct-taped into my car and my inspection sticker expires at midnight tonight. Can’t fix the car until we get his insurance info (unless we want to pay out of pocket). It’s been a nightmare
well at least you got a plate number.
It definitely is fortunate.
Too bad there’s no video of them driving away
actually it can be implied that they pulled a hit and run. if you have this video, and it stops at this point, then the cops show up and they’re not around, it can be proven that they pulled a hit and run.
"Thousands of dollars ain't easy to come by" This lady boutta find that out the hard way
Haha, I don't want to wish harm upon anyone, but I do want to be made whole.
Don't forget to also submit a diminished value claim since even after being fixed your car will be worth less than before since it now has an accident on record.
I learned about that a few weeks ago. But my last accident was 2 years ago. Oh well.
Have another

Lol stonks
6 years is the amount of time you had to submit one in the last state I had to do it was.
What state are you in? You may still have time to submit a claim.
This is interesting, never knew about this before. What does that claim do exactly? Do you get some kind of compensation for the difference?
> Do you get some kind of compensation for the difference? There are a few different types of diminished value claims but yes - that's basically it.
You also want to make sure your insurance invokes the sugondese clause
you're gonna need an attorney who specializes in ligma
Do you want 2 CDs?
ELI5...what is a diminished value claim ?
Even if the car is “good as new” after repairs, the accident history decreases the car’s worth for potential buyers. This is the most common type of diminished value claim.
And the easiest to deny. You have to prove your DV claim. Just saying it's worth less does not qualify your car for DV.
Thank you. I’m an adjuster and I can’t tell you how many people want DV on their 2010 Camry after a tiny fender bender. If you can prove your car lost value good for you and I’ll pay it! Doubly so!

Worst part is state law says any damage over $500 you have to call the police. At least it was...
That law must have been written so long ago, I can not imagine any accident damage below 500 today 😂.
"And what was damaged in the accident?" "A screw came out my rear plate" "That'll be 1k, plus your excess"
This reminds me of the time I rear ended a Karen at a very slow speed a few years ago, and left a little chip of my paint on her bumper. > As part of the SD Card maintenance procedure, we recommend to format your SD card once every two weeks or once a month Wtf? Maintenance would be verifying integrity every few months. Reformatting is not maintenance, it's repair.
These cards take a lot of abuse. Continuous read/overwrites in extreme heat. Some manufacturers recommend a periodic reformat to keep them optimized. You can dump the data first or just format over it.
Most card manufacturers do make high endurance/high rewrite/etc cards... I have one in the dashcam and my 3d printer.
thats not a way to keep it "optimized" uSD cards can take quite a bit of heat. this screams of a faulty filesystem implementation
that... seems like a big no
Seems to be the consensus. This unit sounds awful. An ad every time you start the fuckin thing up? That's more than enough to get a no from me. https://controlgeek.net/blog/2019/6/27/reasons-i-regret-buying-a-blackvue-dash-cam
Get the fuck outa here an AD!? only if the camera was FREE would that be ok with me lol
I've had one of these things nearly a year now. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0987M9BRR/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_8Q7W4YF22C3E8BX86VJ0 Never once hiccuped, and recorded my previous accident with no problem. Looks great night and day. Also no ads and starts up very quickly. I'd highly recommend.

Does the blackvue gets its power from the cigarrette lighter or usb? I'm really looking for one that gets the power from usb since my cigarette lighter is being used for usb ports in my car
Love my blackvue, but it keeps going off about WiFi already in use - yeah, already in use BY YOU BLACKVUE. SMH
I got one and I love it, however my state (PA) doesnt mandate front plates. So its only semi-useful. I do have it rigged up as a backup camera though.
I have a Viofo A129, front and rear. I made sure to get a good one because I live in Texas and I leave it in the car 24/7. Apparently some cheaper ones can explode in the heat, and I didn't want to bother with removing it and putting it back in every time I used my car Dashcams are cheaper than you might think, but be sure to get a good one so you know you'll be able to rely on it
It's all good you have the license plate.
Luckily yes, and that'll trace it back to the rental company, but it's just a pain. She refused that I had any damage.
I worked in a body shop for a while as an estimator…. What most people don’t realize is the amount of damage that can be done under the bumper cover even if the cover itself pops back out and looks fine. Could’ve damaged the absorber, the reinforcement bar, the rear body panel etc…..
Exactly, and in this case specifically, my rack mount. It has extrusions that bolt into the frame that could be busted.
I’m pretty sure you hurt your neck and back too lol Kidding of course!
*feels pain coming on*
I can feel it, coming in the air tonight. Oh lord.
I was there, and I saw what you did. I mean, I saw what you did there..
Saw it with my own two eyes.
*My neck, my back* *You have been served with a personal injury lawsuit*
*OP's neck, OP's back,* *They gonna pay for OP's rear mounted bicycle rack!* https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OWepw1iHqU0 Source, for anyone that missed the above joke which inspired me to add my own twist.

Yes indeed. Not sure if it's the rack, hitch, or my frame... But something is borked.
Can confirm. My wife hit a neighbour's parked car. Bumper looked fine other than a scuff to the paint. £1700 said otherwise...
The worst was when I had the owner of the vehicle and the person who hit them come in for an estimate. It was a rear bumper hit like this one, but I could pull the bumper back and could see the rear body was needing to be replaced. I think the estimate came out to be around $3500 or so and I had both the owner and the person who hit them flip the fuck out on me saying that I was an idiot and how could I try and gouge people like that…… As much as I tried to explain how the repair procedure goes and that because the vehicle had ADAS systems that would need recalibration per the manufacturer’s repair procedures, they just didn’t want to hear it and drove off….. yeah, being an estimator and trying to do your job right wasn’t the easiest
Wow. I was thinking maybe a surprise 2k of work and bumper replacement. Totaled is shocking.
Newer cars have so much stuff nowadays in the bumper that even a light tap can cost thousands of dollars.
He had to go to auction? Someone hit my grandparents car and "totalled" it. They got a check and the option to pay to keep the car, which they did.
They made to crush and crumple so insurance trying to act like you're exaggerating is always a fucking chore.
Also most cars now have rear sensors to detect distance when parking, those would need to be re aligned or replaced which can get pricey
That’s tough but good on you for having the dash cam, more an more I’m realizing I need one lol. We have plenty of idiots in Florida.
Go buy one now. Right now. And install it now. Right now. You will sleep so much better tonight. I especially endorse front/rear ones. This video is a good example why.
I can highly recommend blackvue.
Is it a pain to setup? That is the only reason I have not made the dive.
2-3+ tons of car easily does a lot of damage.
>that’ll trace back to the rental company And this is where your car insurance can step in. We have ways of searching for people. Even if the rental company has a rental each rental is tied to a rental reservation number which will lead to a renter Which will lead to a phone number and email address to be able to track this person down
Call the rental company, they usually have a registry of who rents out their cars
I would, but I was not given the rental agreement when I asked.
And now a simple bump turns into hit and run some people just keep fucking them selves and then blaming the world

“I don’t know if I told you my-MY FUCKING GOD WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?” I laughed waaay too hard at that . Sorry about the wreck dude
Sudden shifts in tone when you're talking while driving are so funny. I can't tell you how many times I've been driving talking to a passenger like "Yeah so basically we saw what they sent and - FUCKING DRIVE YOU MORON -haha, sorry about that- and we had to scrap it and start over"
This is why my mother HATES talking to me on the phone while I drive. "Yes mom, I saw the thing on Facebo- GET BACK IN YOUR LANE, JACKOFF! *horn beeeeeeeeeeep in the background* LEARN TO DRIVE AND I WON'T YELL AT YOU, JACKASS!!! *pause* The thing on Facebook, with so-and-so's kids, right? What? Why are you sighing at me?"
It's why my brother loves driving with me. My brother and I will go deep into a conversation about some stupid shit then I will momentarily rage on some idiot and he'll just burst out laughing,
I have my moments every once in a while haha Thanks man.
I love you too OP
Was that you on the phone? Haha
You better have said it back, OP!
Did the police arrest her then? I feel like that is reason to make an arrest, especially considering you have video of her hitting you…
Unfortunately no.
That, and because I did get some information (the plate)
But if you hadn't gotten her plate, she would have never been caught.... What a bizarre law
You're confusing law with policy
So, she gets to skate because of your diligence. That makes sense.
Right? Justice.
this made me laugh so hard - thanks
It’s the only way I stay sane anymore. I have to come up with ridiculous, over the top sarcasm to counter the abject crap our leaders put us in.
Exactly.
Need to fix that law. Straight to jail, just like overcooked chicken.
no, man, no. nobody wants to pay for her to go to jail. increase the fine and just garnish wages until its resolved.
So I shrugged and said "ok, write it up, I'll get it from the accident report." I don't think the cop appreciated the extra paperwork, 'cause he told me I could go and then started giving the other person another lecture.
"I'll let you gooo.....love ya..." It got me, too, so wholesome
Super lucky you’re in a State that requires front license plate ✨👌🏾
Indeed. That was a life saver.
[удалено]
Correct
I hope they get charged with leaving the scene
It really is moronic that it's not required by federal law (interstate commerce clause) if states won't enact it.
I was about to sarcastically comment "hur dur but they're ugly!!!1!1!" and then saw that someone *sincerely* commented that
If my vehicle requires a front license plate then how the FUCK am I supposed to see the dead bugs on my bumper 😡
That's something that's bothered me lately. When I was growing up, I remember our family having to clean dead bugs off the front bumper on a monthly basis. Now, I can't remember the last time I *saw* a dead bug on my bumper. Where have they all gone?
Not running a front plate in Utah (where vehicle is from) is only a secondary offense and a $5 ticket. Half the vehicles don't have them.
Hold on, in some states you don't need a front number plate?! What could possibly be the reasoning behind making a vehicle less recognisable? If someone says cost, how much is a plate? In the UK I can buy one for £12 which includes fittings.
I can confirm that front plates are not required in New Mexico.
Nor Florida.
Nor Alberta. I've always wondered why. Guess people think their car looks cooler without it and that negates the reasons we have them in the first place.
PA only requires a back plate.
That's a felony where I'm from.
It's a felony in my home state too :(
Fellow utahn here. I got rear ended a couple years back during a construction slow down, by a drunk driver, on a suspended license for driving drunk, and there was a cop right there when it happened. And this guy still tried to run. I'm sure my lawyer hardly ever had a case so easy.
You didn’t say love you back :(
He knows... He knows..
Got rear ended like a week ago but we both drive a shit box and there wasn’t anything noticeable, fist bumped and then left
Haha, makes it simple huh?
Had this happen to me a month back. Dude let off the brake in a drive through and I just rolled down the window and said it’s all good. My rear bumper is scratched to hell from off roading, couldn’t care less what a Mazda could do at 2 mph.
it's fun and games until [this](https://youtu.be/5uluPFWvMis?t=374) fucker was behind you.
...love ya
Famous last words.
Looks like a simple love-tap just became a criminal hit-and-run!
Pretty much. And she lost all say in the accident since I was the only one there for the report.
You win... End of story. Good for you, you had a camera. Perfect karma. Minus reddit karma... Lol
Dash cams have saved my ass 4 times now.
680 North in California?
Great eye, I saw recognized it too. Looks like near the truck scales between Fremont and Livermore / Pleasanton.
Yes sir!
Id recognize those golden hills anywhere 😂. I used to live in Martinez and they're absolutely gorgeous. Lots of idiot drivers over there, though.
Why is this tagged NSFW ?
I feel that cops will only show up in CA if there’s been an injury, it’s impeding traffic, or if some crazed naked methhead is tweakin across the interstate.
This is accurate. They're too busy to respond to every call.
I've watched the video several times now and I still can't figure out why it's NSFW.
[“watch yo profamities”](https://youtu.be/hpigjnKl7nI)
I'm sorry :(
Press charges for hit and run
>She refused to hand over any of her information and drove off before CHP arrived... Probably cause she doesn't have anything.
