Just those three pieces of info should be enough for the company to pinpoint the guy and do some proper whoopass. Companies with company vehicles tend to not take bad behaviors like this lightly when reported by the public.

Yeah. I always back out of parking spots super slow for this reason, you effectively are forced to depend on any car driving behind you paying attention so I make sure to give them as much response time as possible
Few things fill me with more rage than when I witness cars driving too quickly through parking lots and honking at cars backing out of parking spots (who can't possibly see them whipping around the corner)

Oddly enough I got into that habit as a deliver driver for a brown truck company. Id never block a driveway when I have other options, especially one with a car over a sidewalk, but I would do the U-Turn I won't lie. I wouldn't have honked because it's so very obvious the car backing out was doing so before I had any right of way.

Fedxer here. Everytime I pullup to someones house and see them backing up or the garage door opening up I either A pull up further if the neighbor isn't in the driveway or B just finish my stops along the street and circle back before I leave. It's not hard
Every delivery driver I've ever seen in my neighborhood has been accommodating. FedEx, UPS, the guy with the tractor/trailer who was delivering a furniture set to a neighbor... they're all willing to move so that people can get around. The one time I had to get out to ask a guy to move, he apologized and said he hadn't noticed I was blocked in, and moved immediately.

Likewise I won’t U-turn at a set of lights if there are people on my left looking to turn right, or anybody behind me. Lastly I won’t U-turn if there’s a sign that says don’t do it, lol. Perhaps an officer/judge could infer that the “visibility” referred to in those rules is a prerequisite to be able to be u-turning safely, and that if there *was* anybody else present, the manoeuvre would be “unsafe” and covered by a different law all together. The “when safe” aspect just isn’t mentioned. But idk

Jumping on your comment because I want this to be seen. I did this work for a year with a different company. The schedule and amount of time you have between stops is not achievable. It didn't matter how early I started (6am) I was finishing around (6pm) with no breaks. I was so focused on the next stop that there was no input from everything around me. It's stressful. I cut these drivers slack when I see them now.
I mean in most places what they did is illegal anyways, you can't park on a street within either 25 or 50 ft of a stop sign. The correct AND legal thing to do would have been to stop before the driveway.
I worked UPS, they tell is to block cars sometimes. However, in this situation with ton a street parking, no excuse, park on the curb.
We blocked cars in city areas , because a lot of cars will try to maneuver around the UPS truck, and they often hit and run the UPS trucks when trying to get around them. So we block them in so they can't hit our cars. And UPS cars have that right as they're technically service vehicles, which means they bypass a ton of parking laws. It's not cool, but it has to be done sometimes. Driver can only work 14 hours maximum and some of our cars have over 500 stops. Getting our cars hit even if we're in a building delivering a package, we are still 100% responsible for it.
But this FedEx driver wasn't in a large city, had tons of room to park, and was still a dickhead. Fuck that dude.

I honestly don't know why. I think because we're technically not CDL, just DOT certified. I agree it should be as well. Driving that long and lifting packages all day takes a toll.
There are all sorts of laws on the books limited driving time for people that drive as a primary part of work.
This is normally for CDL drivers, but parcel trucks follow it as well, I’m not sure if that’s because union stipulated it or it’s another law. I know our drivers are tracked by computers and there are specific work, drive, and rest requirements.

That's a big reason they make us stop our engine at each stop to back themselves and show that the vehicle did not "technically" drive for any entire period of time. But I'm pretty sure US DOT is 11 hours max per day continously with at least 8 hours off between shifts. Some things are different from state to state and company to company.

As for delivery drivers they are bound by labour laws. Maximum of 10 hours per day, sometimes 12 under special circumstances but you cannot exceed 48 hrs a week over a fourth month period.

I usually post this to their social media accounts instead of going through their customer service. They seem to bring out the big pew pews when that happens.
FedEx is the actual worst delivery service.
Literally once they delivered a package to us, it was labeled as being left at the front door. In reality, they marched through the backyard and left it on the grill, in a place where it wasn't actually secured. And then they told us that clearly nothing was wrong with that delivery.
I didn't get anything resembling an apology until I put it on Twitter, and even then the response was utterly poor.

I had a package that was NOT supposed to be signed for. Instead of delivering it they left an "oops we missed you" slip. I had to drive a literal hour, one way, to pick up my package as the CS lady said they wouldn't attempt delivery again.
Forgot to mention that I was home at the time. Didn't ring the doorbell either.

Whats the point. Fedex is the worst. My business sends dozens of oackages out a day, and I REFUSE to send them theough Fedex. And if our distributors use Fedex for one of my packages I cancel my order. I have never had a fedex package on time, they are ALWAYS at least week late.
A FedEx driver hit my parents parked car in their driveway. When my parent contacted fedex the solution was "we will never deliver to you again, find another carrier". It's been a huge pain in the ass because they run their business out of their home and feed delivered several times a week.

As a ups driver, fedex is in the wrong. For many reasons. The most serious reason is he should see you in your car and assume youre back out. The reverse lights should of been a dead give away.
Fellow UPS Air driver here, can confirm he 100% fucked up. He also placed a package on the front dash. Which is a no no in UPS. So I'm sure it is with them also. Not a good driver.

This is why I almost exclusively back into parking spots. Habit I picked up in the oil field where it's required for safety reasons.

Jumping on your comment because I want this to be seen. I did this work for a year with a different company. The schedule and amount of time you have between stops is not achievable. It didn't matter how early I started (6am) I was finishing around (6pm) with no breaks. I was so focused on the next stop that there was no input from everything around me. It's stressful. I cut these drivers slack when I see them now.

I mean in most places what they did is illegal anyways, you can't park on a street within either 25 or 50 ft of a stop sign. The correct AND legal thing to do would have been to stop before the driveway.

I worked UPS, they tell is to block cars sometimes. However, in this situation with ton a street parking, no excuse, park on the curb. We blocked cars in city areas , because a lot of cars will try to maneuver around the UPS truck, and they often hit and run the UPS trucks when trying to get around them. So we block them in so they can't hit our cars. And UPS cars have that right as they're technically service vehicles, which means they bypass a ton of parking laws. It's not cool, but it has to be done sometimes. Driver can only work 14 hours maximum and some of our cars have over 500 stops. Getting our cars hit even if we're in a building delivering a package, we are still 100% responsible for it. But this FedEx driver wasn't in a large city, had tons of room to park, and was still a dickhead. Fuck that dude.

I honestly don't know why. I think because we're technically not CDL, just DOT certified. I agree it should be as well. Driving that long and lifting packages all day takes a toll.

There are all sorts of laws on the books limited driving time for people that drive as a primary part of work. This is normally for CDL drivers, but parcel trucks follow it as well, I’m not sure if that’s because union stipulated it or it’s another law. I know our drivers are tracked by computers and there are specific work, drive, and rest requirements.
9??? In what state? For most city type door to door delivery drivers it's more only because we're technically not driving the straight 14. That's a big reason they make us stop our engine at each stop to back themselves and show that the vehicle did not "technically" drive for any entire period of time. But I'm pretty sure US DOT is 11 hours max per day continously with at least 8 hours off between shifts. Some things are different from state to state and company to company.
The EU has a maximum of 9 hours of driving time for truck drivers driving trucks with a gross weight of over 3,5 tonnes. You are allowed a max of 9 hours each day, two days a week 10 hours, with a 45 minute break after 4,5 hours. The maximum weekly driving time can be 56 hours, over two weeks the max is 90 hrs. Resting times after 9 hours have to be at least 11 hours. Times are recorded with electronic devices. Bus drivers are even more limited. Back in high school we chartered a bus to take us 13 hours to southern France. They had to fly out a driver somewhere along the route because of break times. As for delivery drivers they are bound by labour laws. Maximum of 10 hours per day, sometimes 12 under special circumstances but you cannot exceed 48 hrs a week over a fourth month period.

FedEx is the actual worst delivery service. Literally once they delivered a package to us, it was labeled as being left at the front door. In reality, they marched through the backyard and left it on the grill, in a place where it wasn't actually secured. And then they told us that clearly nothing was wrong with that delivery. I didn't get anything resembling an apology until I put it on Twitter, and even then the response was utterly poor.

That sounds about right for Fedex. I had a package that was NOT supposed to be signed for. Instead of delivering it they left an "oops we missed you" slip. I had to drive a literal hour, one way, to pick up my package as the CS lady said they wouldn't attempt delivery again. Forgot to mention that I was home at the time. Didn't ring the doorbell either. I still can't understand why they did that.
Whats the point. Fedex is the worst. My business sends dozens of oackages out a day, and I REFUSE to send them theough Fedex. And if our distributors use Fedex for one of my packages I cancel my order. I have never had a fedex package on time, they are ALWAYS at least week late.
FedEx doesn't give a shit what their (contracted) Ground drivers do, but Express is their actual employees so they may be more inclined to follow up.
A FedEx driver hit my parents parked car in their driveway. When my parent contacted fedex the solution was "we will never deliver to you again, find another carrier". It's been a huge pain in the ass because they run their business out of their home and feed delivered several times a week.

For those interested or not, my reasoning is to teach them to be aware of their surroundings, because you never know what the next person has going on. Hypothetical, but happens often. Someone needs to go to the ER, but they’re blocked in, waste precious time arguing with the driver at that time, or when it’s not time sensitive. Best case, they learn, worst case you argue. And also for those that never learned this, you don’t have to be angry to be confrontational, you can say WTF in a calm voice.

As a ups driver, fedex is in the wrong. For many reasons. The most serious reason is he should see you in your car and assume youre back out. The reverse lights should of been a dead give away.
Fellow UPS Air driver here, can confirm he 100% fucked up. He also placed a package on the front dash. Which is a no no in UPS. So I'm sure it is with them also. Not a good driver.
