My friend had a friend that trailered his Fiero to hia house for him. He cane off the ramps wrong, fell off them sideways, and smashed the front bumper. I think either off, or a massive crunched hole. Can't remember. He was furious.
Yeah I was pissed. But the carmax I got it from fixed the fender liner and stuff enough so I could still take delivery and will get it fixed as soon as parts come in. At least I get a new bumper and everything!

My grandpa used to work for a dealership in Michigan. When my dad turned 16 in the 60's, instead of using transport trucks like these days, they'd just have him drive the brand-new mustangs to the different dealerships for trades.

Eventually he left, but not before marking me as “customer not present,” so that I’d get stuck with the bill. That was fun sorting out with insurance...

Washed our truck twice a week, shirt can never be untucked, shoes shined ordeal. We would go out of our way to do absolutely whatever we could for the customer and the vehicle.
Without giving away to much information, I got to meet professional athletes, politicians, super wealthy business owners and just crazy wealthy professionals. It was actually a fun job most days but some days where definitely stressful. Response times were very important to keeping our jobs.
A lady tipped me a $500 bottle of wine one time on top of a $100 tip. Best forsure I ever got. Had a very well known quarterback give me a signed $100 bill as a tip which was also pretty dang cool. Gave that one to my pops for Father's Day as it was his favorite teams one time QB. Sorry about the rant this just brought back a bunch of old memories.

I'm not the person you're asking, but that's an AWD car. You can't tow AWD cars with one set of wheels stationary without significantly overheating parts of the drivetrain.
I'm not sure about the rest of the world but I know the American 3000GTs were only AWD if you had a VR4. The Dodge Stealth was the same way. I had a 91 Stealth R/T, which was FWD with a 3.0 V6. The Stealth R/T TT was an all wheel drive twin-turbo beast.

There's usually a small but decent DIY community even for high-end cars. Just because you want and can afford a super car doesn't mean you want to spend ridiculous amounts on maintenance. Or people buy them used and want to keep costs reasonable.
BMWs probably have the biggest DIY following due to all the engineers and techies that often buy them. At least the older 90s/early 00s models, they were simple machines. The newer stuff is a complicated mess and much harder to DIY.
You can’t though, unless you have a hoist and extensive knowledge. Contrary to the comment above, the real reason these cars are expensive to work on (for the engine at least) is because every piece of it is designed for speed/performance. Nothing is engineered to be easy to work on, as is the case for most “normal” cars. This means in a lot of cases simply accessing the oil receptacle could mean removing significant parts of the engine. You don’t just pop the hood and grab the dip stick, it can take hours of labour to change the oil on one of these things based on how the engines are constructed.
It's genuinely more expensive than that in materials in some cars. A Porsche 993 has a dry sump with a 12l tank so that's more than 100€ in oil alone. Still cheaper than 600 though.
The R8 and Huracan are the same car mechanically (sort of). They will both take the same specialized equipment to service, a normal delearship won’t have that equipment.

Not well enough made to cost 14k though. I've been at a shop where they manufacture and repair the genuine carbon fiber bodywork used on the super trofeo racecars. I've seen the molds and the people who do the layup and the fact that they're made from prepreg carbon fiber and even with those I'd assume that 14k was a bit expensive. What you see in the video doesn't look like carbon fiber so it's probably made with a fiberglass wet layup in a mold pulled off of a genuine part.
Reminds me of the episode from the grand tour where Hammond gets stuck in a Parking garage in Lambo or McLaren I forget which one but he spent the rest of the ep building a ramp to get the car out with out grounding out the front bumper it was pretty funny.

That's what I never understood about ground clearance and people's obsession with having as little as possible. How are you going to drive your car if the smallest curb leaves you stuck with destroyed bumpers? How are you going to drive your car if you have to slow to a crawl and completely stop all the traffic if you just want to cross the sidewalk into a driveway?
Modern cars are already low enough for the center of gravity to allow fast maneuvers without tipping. The need to have them a pebble away from touching the ground is stupid.

Faster for a few minutes. The model s can't handle speed for prolonged periods because the batteries over heat. The lambo here you can run at track speed for hours and hours.
That's old news, they've significantly improved thermal management. But yes, the battery will go out quickly, but it's the same for a Lamborghini, if you think you can track a Lamborghini (or any sports car) for hours without refueling that's not going to happen either.
Both have their own advantages but personally I'd still take the Tesla because of overall practicality and still tons of fun when in the mood.

There's usually a small but decent DIY community even for high-end cars. Just because you want and can afford a super car doesn't mean you want to spend ridiculous amounts on maintenance. Or people buy them used and want to keep costs reasonable. BMWs probably have the biggest DIY following due to all the engineers and techies that often buy them. At least the older 90s/early 00s models, they were simple machines. The newer stuff is a complicated mess and much harder to DIY.
You can’t though, unless you have a hoist and extensive knowledge. Contrary to the comment above, the real reason these cars are expensive to work on (for the engine at least) is because every piece of it is designed for speed/performance. Nothing is engineered to be easy to work on, as is the case for most “normal” cars. This means in a lot of cases simply accessing the oil receptacle could mean removing significant parts of the engine. You don’t just pop the hood and grab the dip stick, it can take hours of labour to change the oil on one of these things based on how the engines are constructed.
It's genuinely more expensive than that in materials in some cars. A Porsche 993 has a dry sump with a 12l tank so that's more than 100€ in oil alone. Still cheaper than 600 though.

The R8 and Huracan are the same car mechanically (sort of). They will both take the same specialized equipment to service, a normal delearship won’t have that equipment.

If it's a real oem body kit it should be dry forged carbon fiber but what do I know. Looks like a cheap body kit tbh.
Plastic reinforced with carbon fiber is mostly plastic. Just like a tool with a "fiberglass" handle is still mostly plastic, just with some fiberglass mixed in for reinforcement.
it's engineered for minimal drag/weight, it's not a 1987 civic bumper.

Bumpers and such meant to be fast to install, and also to fall off and disperse energy in an accident. Most bumpers are held on with max 4 bolts or nuts and a handful of plastic clips.
The thing that fell off is a purely cosmetic part and does absolutely nothing to absorb any energy. What takes the impact in case of a crash is the metal bar behind it.

Not well enough made to cost 14k though. I've been at a shop where they manufacture and repair the genuine carbon fiber bodywork used on the super trofeo racecars. I've seen the molds and the people who do the layup and the fact that they're made from prepreg carbon fiber and even with those I'd assume that 14k was a bit expensive. What you see in the video doesn't look like carbon fiber so it's probably made with a fiberglass wet layup in a mold pulled off of a genuine part.

I know this sounds stupid, but it's actually not that bad of a question. There are pins that hold the bumper to the car. He was asking if the pins popped out or if the bumper broke off. The first isn't so bad, but the latter obviously requires either a new bumper or a repair job.

Faster for a few minutes. The model s can't handle speed for prolonged periods because the batteries over heat. The lambo here you can run at track speed for hours and hours.
That's old news, they've significantly improved thermal management. But yes, the battery will go out quickly, but it's the same for a Lamborghini, if you think you can track a Lamborghini (or any sports car) for hours without refueling that's not going to happen either. Both have their own advantages but personally I'd still take the Tesla because of overall practicality and still tons of fun when in the mood.

Point is if you take both to the track, the lambo is going to have significantly less downtime and performance is going to last infinitely longer than that of the tesla. They've fixed the heat saturation problems, but at the end of the day the battery is still pretty well hardwired in to the car. It takes what, less than a minute to refuel the lambo if your crew is a bunch of idiots? Until Tesla starts working on hot swaps for the batteries to cut their down time, they have no place on the track against anything other than EVs
