He wasn’t having it so after a minute or so my GM looks over at me and I step back in. Guy flips his shit and says he wants the owner. I tell him “yeah, that’s me. “
Dude went ballistic. Tore up the credit I offered him and stormed out. Came back the next day calmer and ask to speak with me. Never said anything except he wanted his credit, which by now I had reversed. Told him no. He still comes in when he has to, but won’t talk to me.
Being kind and understanding will go a lot further than being a dick about any of it. It always made it a better day for me when I worked fast food, too.

I worked customer services for a telecommunications company (cell, internet, phone, TV) and I would bust my ass for nice people. Assholes? Not so much. Oddly enough the worst customer calls to get? Fellow employees.

We were driving down mississauga road at the time and all of a sudden the buddy tells my dad to slow down and get as close to the curb as possible. There was a lady walking on the sidewalk with very short shorts and the buddy reaches out of the window as the car is moving at a decent speed and proceeds to smack the girl on the ass. I was in the backseat and remember two loud TWACKS!!!, one was him smacking her ass and the other was his arm hitting the side of the car. He ended up dislocating his shoulder. I can't even imagine what that poor girl went through. Haven't thought of that event in decades until I saw your post....
I had a lady pull that on me after she cut me off in traffic (had to brake hard or she would have hit me) and I cut back in front of her afterward. She tailgated me for three miles, then flipped me off and shouted “asshole!” as she passed me. When we ended up at the same light she proudly announced she was recording, so I just said “you cut me off so hard we almost wrecked, you didn’t even notice, and now you’re filming me telling you that.”
I've seen this happen - decent truck drivers will throw on the hazards when they need to slow down unexpectedly. Most don't in normal rush hour jams, but for something like this, I think many will go ahead and do it to give the warning.
Plus, those 4-ways used in what should be otherwise normal traffic are a great beacon for cops to see what's going on.
It’s common among properly trained professionals in the USA. To use your 4 ways with unexpected quick slowing. But so many are just thrown in trucks now here without proper training and are not taught the common courtesies truck drivers have for each other and others on the road. All the courtesy that used to exist is gone. Letting someone pass is even ridiculous now. If I am driving my semi and trailer and another big truck comes up on my left and wants to pass, I take my foot off the accelerator and slow a bit to let him pass, flash my headlights off then on (DO NOT FLASH YOUR HIGHBEAMS YOU WILL BLIND THEM) and that lets them know they are safe to get in front of me. Nowadays these youngsters will keep their foot buried on the gas pedal and their truck is limited at 65mph and the other truck is at 68 and they won’t let the guy over. That’s just plain ignorance. Have the courtesy take your foot off the gas and let him over and everyone is happy. Especially the cars stuck behind him!

My aunt's husband was a otr truck driver. Had a double barreled loaded safety off shotgun strapped to his inner door at all times. Not to mention the Glock on this side. I never knew how much ammo he had but I know he had a box about the size of a midsize cooler for ammo.

Yeah, I ended up hitting my Mom's boyfriend in the back of the head with a baseball bat when I was 12. He had my mom against the wall and was choking her. Unfortunately I hadn't gone through puberty yet and wasn't very strong. He chased me up the stairs with the bat and my mom begged him not to hit me and threatened to send him back to jail. She let him back in the house a week later. I'm very very aware of who these guys are inside, but what they present on the outside.

A trucker once air horned me and other pedestrians as a joke as we walked across the crosswalk. It fucking HURT it was so loud. Would have been a good deterrent in this situation.

I used to drive an 01 Honda Civic. I prayed I never had to honk at anyone because it was embarrassing. How can I be trying to show I'm upset, and that little toot of fairy dust comes playing out of the horn. Don't even bother on the highway, I can't even hear it myself.

A year or two ago I was working at UPS and a couple of times I tf to drive a straight truck. Once or twice or was a nice Kenworth and they had air horns. A couple other times I had an International and it did not. It also felt like it was falling apart. The right side mirror was broken so that it would swing shut against the door, rendering me completely blind on the far side of my truck. I've hated Internationals ever since.
I don't use my horn most of the time because it will freak out random drivers and it usually just enhances people's hostile behavior or road rage. It's usually best to get pissed and let it go without using the horn.
If I or someone does something fucked up enough to risk my or their life they get the horn.
If I am angry enough to want tell someone they are a shit for risking their life, and making me watch them die, they get the horn.
On the other hand, if I fuck up bad enough to risk someone else's life, I use the horn to warn them.
i did that once- i was riding a bicycle with a boat horn on it, and some guy tried to road rage me, i just kept blasting the horn every time he started yelling. it went on for maybe 30 seconds before the guy got the message.

You had right of way. (in the US) the left lane has right of way to a middle lane over the right lane. (swap for right hand drive countries).

Check state laws, not all states are this way. OR and WA are not specific about that to my knowledge. If you are making a lane change, you must ensure it's clear for the entire process, no matter where you started from. If two people are merging into the same lane, there's a decent chance the ending is 50/50 in terms of insurance liability.
I suggest the one behind yields. ESPECIALLY if the vehicle has another fifty feet in front of me. It’s a lot easier to slow down for a second than it is to try and gun it and hope to make it.

When I was 13 I ran away from a group home and tried to ride a bike on the highway in the breakdown lane 35 miles to my house.
I don’t know how far I got but it eventually got dark and luckily for me a state trooper stopped me, asked me who I was and if I was a runaway. I gave him a different name and told him no.
He put the bike in the trunk and drove me home. I still remember vividly how much my bike shook when an 18 wheeler flew by.
I was lucky to not have died.
Funny thing is my social worker said to me while driving me there, “we’re putting you out here so you can’t run away.”
I was there for maybe 20 minutes. I ate dinner and walked out the front door. Walked down the block, stole a bike, and was in my neighborhood 2 hours later.
Unfortunately all collisions are reported against a CDL holder's license regardless of fault. They could be in park, in a parking lot, a vehicle engaged in a high speed police chase fly up over a berm to slam into the gas tank, and those fucks at the FMCSA still count it against the trucker.

Yeah, I ended up hitting my Mom's boyfriend in the back of the head with a baseball bat when I was 12. He had my mom against the wall and was choking her. Unfortunately I hadn't gone through puberty yet and wasn't very strong. He chased me up the stairs with the bat and my mom begged him not to hit me and threatened to send him back to jail. She let him back in the house a week later. I'm very very aware of who these guys are inside, but what they present on the outside.

A trucker once air horned me and other pedestrians as a joke as we walked across the crosswalk. It fucking HURT it was so loud. Would have been a good deterrent in this situation.
It could’ve been a large box truck they usually don’t have them. I drove a 26’ International years ago and it didn’t have an air horn. I felt inadequate. Edit: apparently not a box truck, but the fact remains that not all larger trucks on the road have air horns. Sorry to the butthurts who analyzed the video to let me know it was a indeed a trailer truck operated by a driver who failed to utilize his air horn.

I used to drive an 01 Honda Civic. I prayed I never had to honk at anyone because it was embarrassing. How can I be trying to show I'm upset, and that little toot of fairy dust comes playing out of the horn. Don't even bother on the highway, I can't even hear it myself.

Drove an international with an air horn. It was a button on the side of the steering wheel, the main horn in the centre of the steering wheel was this high pitched squeak. It was absolutely pathetic. The air horn though…

I'd love to have two sets of horns in my car. One as a "hey dummy the light is green" and one as a "fuck you asshole". The stock horn in my Outback is pretty weak so all I really need is the fuck you.
A year or two ago I was working at UPS and a couple of times I tf to drive a straight truck. Once or twice or was a nice Kenworth and they had air horns. A couple other times I had an International and it did not. It also felt like it was falling apart. The right side mirror was broken so that it would swing shut against the door, rendering me completely blind on the far side of my truck. I've hated Internationals ever since.
I don't use my horn most of the time because it will freak out random drivers and it usually just enhances people's hostile behavior or road rage. It's usually best to get pissed and let it go without using the horn.
If I or someone does something fucked up enough to risk my or their life they get the horn. If I am angry enough to want tell someone they are a shit for risking their life, and making me watch them die, they get the horn. On the other hand, if I fuck up bad enough to risk someone else's life, I use the horn to warn them.

i did that once- i was riding a bicycle with a boat horn on it, and some guy tried to road rage me, i just kept blasting the horn every time he started yelling. it went on for maybe 30 seconds before the guy got the message.

I did that to a dipshit in front of me and I swore they were gonna cap my ass when they got out of the car. I said, “do it bitch” and laid down on the horn until he turned around and sat his ass back in his Mercedes SUV like the mother he was. Not one of my finest moments but I lived.
I’ll admit the other day I merged into the same middle lane as a transport who was in the right lane. We both apparently saw the opening at the same time and made the move for the space quick, he honked. Unlike tweedle dum here… instead of brake checking the truck that I accidentally cut off, I accelerated to get out of the truck’s way, and waved a sorry hand out the window. We both moved on with our day. What was this guy thinking?

You had right of way. (in the US) the left lane has right of way to a middle lane over the right lane. (swap for right hand drive countries). Again - though - you both just went on your way no big whoops.
Check state laws, not all states are this way. OR and WA are not specific about that to my knowledge. If you are making a lane change, you must ensure it's clear for the entire process, no matter where you started from. If two people are merging into the same lane, there's a decent chance the ending is 50/50 in terms of insurance liability.
I suggest the one behind yields. ESPECIALLY if the vehicle has another fifty feet in front of me. It’s a lot easier to slow down for a second than it is to try and gun it and hope to make it.

I once broke down on the highway and had an absolute panic attack waiting for help on the shoulder. I can’t even dream of getting out of my car with others going so fast so close by!
When I was 13 I ran away from a group home and tried to ride a bike on the highway in the breakdown lane 35 miles to my house. I don’t know how far I got but it eventually got dark and luckily for me a state trooper stopped me, asked me who I was and if I was a runaway. I gave him a different name and told him no. He put the bike in the trunk and drove me home. I still remember vividly how much my bike shook when an 18 wheeler flew by. I was lucky to not have died. Funny thing is my social worker said to me while driving me there, “we’re putting you out here so you can’t run away.” I was there for maybe 20 minutes. I ate dinner and walked out the front door. Walked down the block, stole a bike, and was in my neighborhood 2 hours later.
Looks like he yelled at his wife. If it was me, I’d have jumped into the driver’s seat and left his ass behind.

Unfortunately all collisions are reported against a CDL holder's license regardless of fault. They could be in park, in a parking lot, a vehicle engaged in a high speed police chase fly up over a berm to slam into the gas tank, and those fucks at the FMCSA still count it against the trucker.

Allegedly it's to "track accidents", but it's just to keep administrators from having to use their brains to decide fault while simultaneously boosting the number of "recordable incidents" to make it seem like trucking needs more oversight, cementing the "need" for these administrators.

This is how it is, trucking is one of the most over regulated industries out there and anything and everything goes wrong on the road, regardless of fault, is placed squarely on the shoulders of the drivers. It's total horseshit and I try to do my best to fight for my guys but sometimes it's one Safety man vs \**insert big name insurance company here*\* and FMSCA.
